I have never before in my life poured water on any of my devices on purpose, so I was kind of nervous doing this, but hey it was fun!
Uhhhh...... Why did you do that. You realize that you just got a lot of water inside your phone via the ear speaker. It is highly possible that something will short out, and corrosion will build up all over inside of the phone, possibly damaging it slowly over time.
Really shocked as I work on WD phones all the time and know they can get bad.
Well done I guess...
Why??
Thanks for the test but I feel you shouldn't have done that...
If it was water proof, IP7 standard, then that is the only way a test like this would even be uselful.
Or logical.
Whhhyyyyyyyyyyyyy??????!!!
Maybe he had a spare and rather than give it to me he decided to do this lol

Oke, misunderstood
That was just wrong
You should not have done that.
Think of all the folks waiting for their Nexus 5 especially us in India.
This test would have made sense on the Sony flagships with IPX certifications.
Not on the nexus 5!!!!
Better put your phone in rice.
This might help you.

Dude! You've just sentenced your phone to a long and slow death. It may appear to be fine right now but over time that liquid contamination will begin to eat away at the sensitive components of your phone.
If I were you I'd strip that phone and go over it with a cotton bud dipped in alcohol. I've seen what water does to the phones and it's not pretty.

My MyTouch 3G slide is rooted right now but the touchscreen barely works anymore so I need to send it in to get a new one. However, rooting voids the warranty I believe. If I throw my phone in some water or something then call and say it fell in the toilet will they send me a free replacement phone? Because they can't tell it was rooted?
Most the phones I've rooted also have a way to unroot and get security back on then just ruu or your equivalent back to a stock rom and they wont be the wiser
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I would do this but I've having problems. I rooted to CM7 about 2 hours ago and here are the problems:
1. Touch Screen constantly freezing and choosing when it wants to work
2. The notification bar at the top is missing, as well as Terminal app and a few needed apps. With the notification bar missing I can't connect my Phone to my PC
3. ROM Manager isn't allowing me to do a backup (Clockwork Mod)
Usually water damage isn't covered by warranty. Throw it in the microwave for a little while or flash a radio and pull the battery half way through.

Yes, because everyone who hasn't got this "problem", is going to be trawling the net just to answer polls saying they haven't got a problem instead of enjoying their device.
Most who have got this "problem" wouldn't know they have this "problem" until they find threads like this telling them they have a "problem", even though their device is working perfectly.....
If you want the build quality of a £600 tablet then buy a £600 tablet.... This one is cheap as hell so the odd incredibly minor "problem", is to be expected.

I disagree. Basic quality control is key. Even for a $250 device.

I can't even use my tablet because the screen is so bad. This is no "minor problem" and even a $200 device should come working properly. If you don't agree with my poll, ignore it.
No issues here. I highly doubt 50% of the tablets have this issue though, poll seems flawed.

In this drop test the phone survives 2 falls from 4 ft and bounces a few cm. I don't understand why we have some many people complaining about the back, even my phone survives two falls from 2 to 3 ft without case, no a little scratch :S , maybe I'm just lucky... Mmm I don't think so,
Like many other phones the phone doesn't survive face down fall
BTW love this phone. Although I have the little buzzing and rattle, not big deal

C'mon, provide us a bit of insight into what's in the video. XDA isn't a link sharing website. Do you have an opinion? How does this compare to the half a dozen other drop tests that have been posted?
So..... The back survives a a 4 foot drop but yet we have people "supposedly" having theres crap by just setting it on a counter top...
It survived 2 out of 3, which was better than I had expected. The one that did it in (face down) was brutal; it landed flat on the face.

It's called karma especially for the people who buy N4s when they become available for sale just to sell it again on eBay to maximize their profits.
You would say the same exact thing if you didn't have a N4. I personally have one but I'm not selfish like some people here and put myself in OTHER people's shoes as the General forum of N4 is filled with SHIPPING Threads rather than the actual phone experience itself hands on.

Jealous? I don't think it's necessary a sense of jealousy. It's more of a problem with Google's inventory and people aren't getting what they wanted to give as a present, or whatever it may be as N7, N10 is having inventory problems as well. I'm done arguing about this though, I can tell that you're already an arrogant person and just don't get what I was saying. Again, I already have one but many people do not due to inventory problems.
Good day sir.
Now you're personally attacking me? You're assuming a lot. Karma. I look at out this way. A drop test gives one an idea of what kind of protection one may need. More like taking one for the team, IMO.

I wanna see the drop test with Official bumper
I broke mine on the first drop. Slipped off the table during dinner last night, bunch of cracks in the bottom left corner on the back, and front half has one long crack that has made half the touchscreen useless. Sucks. So disappointed, gone back to Galaxy Nexus. I don't have the heart to buy a new one if it's going to break this easily. I can't even count how many times I dropped my Galaxy Nexus with no issue.

So so gutted! Only had the htc one for a week and it feel out of my pocket onto my solid slate kitchen floor and well lets just say it couldnt have been a better face plant! Didnt even touch the sides...just face down slap bang on the floor!
Am I the first?
To top it off no insurance.......and no repair shops that either stock the parts as is so new out and if the tear down tests are anything to go by its a pig to even replace a screen! Just my luck.....only one thing I could do which is to get it repaired by htc.
Being shipped off tomorrow and im dredding the email that is going to rob me me of my hard earned ££££.

I got a replacement, though its not heating that much but the smell is still present. its coming from headphone jack and usb port. we can notice it only when i place my nose on it. did anybody check it?
