[Q] Secure Fail: Recovery - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hi all,
I sincerely apologize in advance if this problem has been reported and fixed, but after about 6 hours of searching, I am really at a loss. Tonight Superuser informed me that it had an update available. Im not sure what the option was otherwise, but I chose to update through recovery, big mistake. I am now left with a phone that will not boot into Android, once turned on, it will say the following:
[(upper left hand corner)
RECOVERY QUITTING...... (in blue)
RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING. (in red)]
Samsung Galaxy S5
Powered by Android
(next screen)
[(upper left hand corner)
SECURE FAIL: RECOVERY (in red)]
(dreaded yellow triangle with exclamation point inside)
System software not authorized by AT&T has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest AT&T store for help.
At this point I have tried everything I can think of using Odin v3.10. I am not sure where to go from here and I really just need any help I can get. Am I s.o.l.? Just take it into the nearest AT&T Store or Best Buy? Or is there anything I can do to get my phone back? I have had an Android since the G1 and it is extremely saddening and frustrating that I am not able to figure this out myself, as I always have been able to with any problems I have had before after my first two real bricks with my original G1. Any questions that anyone has I will answer as quickly as possible. Thank you guys for any help you can provide.
In Odin Mode, the phone will read the following in the upper left corner:
ODIN MODE (in red)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G900A <in white
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official <
SYSTEM STATUS: Official <
REACTIVATION LOCK(KK): OFF <
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x0 <
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB) >in grey
AP SWREV: S1, T1, A1, A2, P1 >
UDC START (in red)
Once again, thanks so much for any help provided.

[Q] Exclamation logo but still booting..

Can someone help me !!
I had some problems with the phone after deleting some system files (and the phone was looping at boot....) so I reflashed it with odin using Q1_20110914_16GB.pit and N7000XXKKA_N7000OXXKK5_N7000XXKK5_HOME.tar.md5 ..
The phone restart booting normally and everything is working except when it boot, just before the Samsung animation, I have a yellow triangle with the exclamation mark just below the "Galaxy Note GT-N7000"
the device is rooted and CWM installed on the device...
Boot the phone into download/odin mode. If it says that you flashed a custom ROM then you *hmhm* "successfully" incremented your custom flash counter.
Did you take a wrong rom when flashing with odin? Was your phone an AUT phone (since the rom you took I believe is an AUT rom)?
#Tapatalk #Galaxy Note
The yellow exclamation means it's been rooted. That way a service center knows you've rooted your phone, potentially voiding your warranty.
argh... my fault, please close this thread !!!
I guess I should have read a little bit more this forum before posting my question !!!
I'm new to android... .was playing with iphones before
Can somebody close / delete this thread I hate to pollute forums

This, my friend, is wrong. The exclamation mark (together with an incremented custom flash counter) means you flashed a non-approved on non-official rom or parts of it onto your device using the ODIN tool. No matter if rooted or not.
The device will continue to work inside certain parameters, its really only (as mentioned for a service rep for example) a visual and very obvious way to mark your device as having no warranty due to fiddling around with it in non-appoved ways. Thats all.

Is this permanent - can it be reset in future ?

[Q] Quick help? Friend (maybe?) bricked his N910T while trying flash.

I root my phones, my friend doesn't. I think he wiped the rom instead of installing it, and I haven't touched a samsung since my galaxy nexus. I downloaded and installed odin, kies and the white n4 drivers to be safe, and I just need to know what to do from here to fix and finish, hope it's not a hard brick :fingers-crossed:
When I power it on, the screen shows:
ODIN MODE (HIGH SPEED)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N910T
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
REACTIVATION LOCK(KK): OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1 (4)
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWREV: S1, T1, R1, A1, P1
SECURE DOWNLOAD : ENABLE
UDC START
And under that the text says:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select the recovery mode in Kies & try again.
Any help would be dope.
So. It looks like your friend was in the midst of an ota while a custom rom was on the device??.? bad... look on google for the exact stock odin rom that matches your device. Install odin on your pc version 3.07.
Put the phone into download mode.. (pull battery put battery back in hold power home vol up.
Plug the phone into the pc. Start odin. Youll see a yellow com port highlited. Extract the stock odin file youll get a tar extracted from the file. If you dont see a yellow com port highlited on your pc. Install samsung usb drivers.. hit pda in odin navigate to were you extracted the stoxk odin file youll see a :TAR file click on that it will load in the pda slot.. note: it may take a minute to load... when its loaded hit start....
Wait till phone reboots ......
Done.... MAKE SURE THE STOCK ODIN IS A 100% MATCH MODEL AND CARRIER..
good luck...

Ha, thanks for the help, i'm gonna try it right now. But seriously, it's his phone. I'm rocking old Paranoid Android on my LG G2(it's legacy, and nobody compiling for d801). I don't really like Sammy since Knox.

Bricked Note 4, User Death Imminent

Hello.
So, I rooted my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 4. It went flawlessly. I flashed TWRP and rooted it without a hitch. Now fast forward a few months, to today. I decide to restart my phone again. Nothing has changed, except that my "helpful" antivirus "conveniently" turned off USB Debugging. I restart it and it brings up a screen. It has a "caution" sign with the exclamation mark. Some text is there as well, saying:
Custom binary blocked by FRP.
SECURE FAIL: KERNEL
Granted, I was upset. My phone won't boot up. I've tried booting into TWRP, but the same screen appears. I can't use Odin because USB Debugging was forcibly shut off by my antivirus.
If I don't have my cell phone, I will struggle in school, as the only other device I have is this laptop which has no working battery and runs on outlet power alone. I don't have the money to purchase a new device, and I feel like I'm out of options, so if I don't get some help, I'm a dead man. If anyone could help, I'd be very grateful. On the Odin Mode screen, info is as follows:
ODIN MODE (HIGH SPEED)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N910T3
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
FRP LOCK: ON
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0X1 (2)
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWREV: S1, T1, R1, A1, P1
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
UDC START
I don't know how much of that is relevant.
Help me, XDA Developers. You're my only hope.
Thanks,

Did you try to use Odin to reflash twrp or the stock firmware? You dont need usb debugging on to reflash stock firmware. If you were on stock, i would just reflash with Odin, tuen on usb debugging and reroot. If u were on custom rom, you might have to odin back to stock, and then do factory reset from recovery.

I tried to reflash the TWRP, but it failed. An error message appears:

FRP is referring to "Factory Reset Protection" , that means you had the Samsung Reactivation Lock turned on and the phone detected a change in the software preventing it from booting up. Now there are two ways to get the phone back up, first try going into download mode (Holding power button+volume down) then restart it by holding down power+volume up) if by chance this doesn't work then the other option would be to use odin and reinstalling the stock rom but it would need to be the same version currently installed.

How would one install a ROM directly from Odin? I know how to do it from the recovery, but I can't access it.
EDIT: After more research and a helpful PM, I am using Kies to wipe everything and restore the stock ROM.
EDIT 2: Success! After resetting using Kies, I was able to reflash TWRP and get rooted again. Thanks to everyone who helped.

No. You should have used ODIN (from your desktop / laptop PC) to restore a stock ROM so that you could have kept your data

I had attempted to do restore the stock ROM, and I recieved the same error as with reflashing the recovery.
I restored to stock with Keis, then flashed TWRP, re-rooted, and installed a new ROM. I then restored my important data (contacts, app info, etc.) from a Titanium Backup on a microSD.
And don't turn on factory reset protection. Useful for casual users who don't root and install cudtom ROMs, but a real problem for those who do.
I believe there is a null/dummy ODIN file floating around you can flash in Odin that will clear that message and get it to boot again.
You're getting it because your lock is on and it's trying to flash something, and will continue to try every time you reboot, there doesn't seem to be a way for it to clear itself after unsuccessful attempts.
edit: pretty sure this is the one I used, but I'd recommend doing your own research before blindly taking my advice:

What is a good way to get that same protection that for a rooted/custom rom user?

There an app floating around that bypasses the reactivation lock.

I am wondering if there are security app made for rooted devices to prevent a thief from stealing flashing or getting sensitive information in the device.
Is there a way to disable the FRP so it doesn't accidentally get turned on?

[Q] S5 is stuck in download mode after failing an update

Hey there.
My Galaxy S5 started updating this morning. When it finished, I restarted my phone. It went instantly to a boot screen with the following text:
BOOT RECOVERY MODE
CHECK BOOT PARTITIONS.
sb11 partition doesn't exist
ddi : mmc_read failed
ODIN MOD (HIGH SPEED)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G901F1
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x0
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CBS)
RP SWREV: S1, T1, A1, A1, P1
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
UDC START
The text itself is in different colours. I can't select anything and it won't turn off using the power switch. I have to pull the battery to turn it off. When I searched the internet, I saw that I have to return to the factory settings using the volume up, home and power button at the same time. I've tried this, but it won't go into another screen then the one I described.
I hope some of you can help me before I have to return it to the store. I'm okay with losing all of my data, I have a recent backup.
Thanks in advance for all your trouble!

Please help.. what have I done to my phone.. Galaxy S6 Edge+ AT&T 928A

I'm officially fed up. I (STUPIDLY) attempted to root my galaxy using ODIN and have been trying to get it back to normal for 3 weeks I'm finally asking for help , if anyone can offer any..
My situation. ....
I used ODIN and a root file I downloaded. . I did it all just the way the guide said.
My phone restarted and I got a message fr ok m samsung + device health check, warning me that my device is rooted
Next , I go to install superuser etc . Get error messages that my devices is NOT rooted and there is no binary.
So I'm stuck with this device that functions but is constantly giving security warnings that unauthorized activity has occured. Knox and Samsung pay say that my device is "Custom" and those apps , along with others won't allow me access for that reason.
This is the info from my screen in download mode (ODIN MODE)
PRODUCT NAME SM-928A
CURRENT BINARY SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS CUSTOM
REACTIVATION LOCK OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID (0x0000)
I have tried -
reflash stock rom , odin just locks up and then I get FIL message
I've factory recovered the device, wiped cache and partition etc numerous times to no avail.
Kies says my device is not compatible, smart switch says software is up to date and that my device doesn't support initialization for recovery.
Any ideas.. I'm all ears! Thank you!

All I had was the security message for my S6 Edge. What I did to get the notification to go away is that I froze SecurityLogAgent (package name: com.samsung.android.securitylogagent), which of course, root is required to do so.
Use Factory cable.

Make sure you are using the original cable that came with your phone when flashing...
Ensure you are using the newest version of odin.
If odin detects your phone in download mode. Then you should be able to flash.
Make sure usb debugging ... and OEM UNLOCK are both enabled.
Clear devilik cache in recovery mode (Not download mode)
Make sure you are trying to flash the correct recovery files for your phone. (Correct region)
I have supplied the recovery files for OGG AND OJ1 stock firmware on the "obtain a little freedom" thread for the G928A
Flash back to stock, and use smartswitch to restore your (pre-backed up information)
Also what version of Windows are you working with?
