To all people who have this problem! I recently got the Nexus 7 3G and the back was creaking so badly you could easily hear it across a large room. The noise seemed to come from the "nexus" logo near the top of the device.
I found the culprit an double checked with an older 16GB model. They changed the design of golden contact springs for the wireless radios from a simple C shape design to some complicated folding Z shaped spring design. It is those springs that upon being depressed rub metal on metal and make this horrible creaking noise. I don't know how many 3G's are affected but mine definitely was.
My solution was to open it up, which is easy enough to do with a guitar pick or something similar, just check YouTube, and to bend the springs until they stopped making noises under load.
While I was in there I also added double sided tape wherever necessary to stop the plastic from creaking (because they left out a lot of the foam they put in the older models, maybe to fix the screen lift issue??) and I re-wrapped the battery protection circuit because the circuit board was rubbing on the battery and making noises as well. (also, my battery was strangely wedged sideways in it's compartment)
All in all it's rock solid now, no creaks, nothing. And it feels like a really quality device now. Suffice to say that I should never have had to do this in the first place in order to own a device that is in satisfactory condition and one is not embarrassed to pass along in a group of friends because of the noises it makes

Would u mind taking a picture of the inside where u added tape to stop the backplate from creaking and upload it. I've tried many things to fix it to no avail.

i will as soon as i find some time. there is another thread here on xda. it's for the wifi model but i adapted the suggestions for my nexus 7. also, what i did for mine might not work for yours. my suggestion is, figure out where the noise is coming from, add some double sided tape or foam close it partially and try it. took me about 2 days of trial and error to achieve an acceptable state

Thanks very much. My only creak is on the right side where the battery is and close to the bezel. Did u happen to have one there as well? Wish me luck lol off to void my warranty

Bookmarking so I recognize your nick on an upcoming "My wifi doesn't work!" thread.
Don't worry about your warranty! there is a "seal" sticker INSIDE the case but popping the back off will most certainly not void your warranty. it's more like the battery cover on a galaxy s3 or a nexus s than anything else!
fyi i had it on the right, left, and top of the device
S4 Active. It's been a pretty good phone and my first Android phone. I picked the Active version not because I am "active", but because I am clumsy and break rules around sensitive electronics (*grabs greasy french fry and continues typing, for instance) and because the colors of the TFT display are better in bright sunlight. I do miss the 13MP camera though...
So anyway the most annoying thing about the phone is constantly pulling open the rubber flap that covers the USB port for charging. Today, at some point, the little flap decided to take a vacation and now there is just a little rubber nub. I never pulled on it or twisted it, but I assume with it now missing my water resistance rating is completely nullified. I was hoping it would be a little more durable on par with the rubber flaps that cover the ports on my CANON EOS 20D which have been opened/closed constantly for almost 10 years and don't show a single sign of wear.
Is this part replaceable? OR is there something else I can sub to cover the port and keep at least dust out of there?
Has anyone else had this happen (yet?)
People in thread S4 Active(i9295 and i537) Replacement Parts Page deal with this kind of problems and someone there already asked about usb cover but it's still unanswered.
Thanks! Well at least I found the cover on the floor near my charger at home. I guess I'll just keep it out of the fishbowl :fingers-crossed:
I worry the same way my old samsung rugy pro the flaps felt very good but the active worrys me if it was replaceable easily I would feel bettrt
I love the Note 4, I just hate that stupid gap that Samsung called a Feature! It's a haven for dirt and etc. What a bummer.
No problems here. I don't see dust getting into anything on mine. Why is it so dusty where you keep your phone?

I think one gap thread's enough. No?
I put my phone sometimes on my pocket shorts/jeans and u know that tiny fabric hair/strands/ kinda thingy and dust they got stuck on the side of the screen gap. What an amazing feature by Samsung. I wish we could put a lamination screen protector that would fill the gap. lol

So, have you gotten stuff stuck there already?

Hi guys,
Using ultra hybrid and spigen crystal sp. Now using tempered glass sp which does not cover the left rdge of gorilla glass. Left edge having rainbow effect too.
Its not one ant. Is a few ants.
3 at headphone jack. Some loitering sp area which at left of gorilla glass. Did suspect it went through the gap of gorilla and head inside.
Lol. Is annoying. Will the ant cause damage if it went through the left gap. Or headphone jack.
Nope my note 4 does not attract insects of any kind
I think you should give your phone a nice spray down with RAID. ????
Maybe troll? Did you put peanut butter on your phone?
I suspect...it is because your phone supports Ant+ ... or you open sweet pics much often ....LOL
Btw ants can harm speakers and microphones...beware of them. Use ant repeller for precaution.

Is true. No point trolling.
But is it fine to spray ant repellant on note 4? Lol.
Yea i think one got in through edge of gorilla display. Other might get in headphone.
They're looking for lollipop :highfive:
Sorry.
In reality though, some ants are attracted to either RF signals or electricity - there are problems in some countries where ants are attracted to high voltage supplies...

Yeah, I think there's some probability that OP isn't trolling. some ants have this fondness to electricity. Apparently, an electrician once told me one of the highest cause for failures in household equipments is ants. Kinda (maybe) cool!

That, or they're marvelling at the new Samsung's build quality. They'll report home to the queen that the Note 4 is the phone for her.
e: Oh, and pics or it didn't happen
Either you got something sugary like chocolate or soft drink that dripped into your phone OR they are just curious. The Note 4 smells of chemical inside when I open the battery cover, its a smell I've never smelt before and maybe its tricking the ants?
Ants attracted to electronics is an actual problem with one type of ant in particular ("crazy ants").
"Electrical equipment: In areas infested by the tawny crazy ant, large numbers of ants have accumulated in electrical equipment, causing short circuits and clogging switching mechanisms resulting in equipment failure (see “Ants and Their Affinity for Electrical Utilities” at http://www.extension.org/pages/30057/ants-and-their-affinity-for-electrical-utilities)." http://urbanentomology.tamu.edu/ants/rasberry.html
First time I hear about this. Could it be temperature? Perhaps Note 4 is warmer than the surroundings.
uh oh... soon iverge will be reporting on "antgate."

I got the original flip cover at 50% discount because I was one of the first customers sitting and hitting refresh for getting the Moto G available. I got the one in red color. So anyways I've been back and forth with Flipkart support several times, with the one problem I have with it, the magnetic cover is a bit weak and can tend to open on it's own.
I got replacement covers several times from Flipkart but they all had the same problem. Anyone else get strong magnets in the other colors or from some other manufacturer? Anyone face the same issue? I know it's been quite a while but since I didn't come across anyone else facing the same problem, I finally decided to post.
Had the same problem. I'd heard that Motorola weakened the magnet in response to complaints from buyers of the 1st generation flip case that the magnet was too strong. Looks like they overcorrected and weakened the magnet to the point of uselessness.

Yeah well, in any case I stuck with the same case, and didn't bother to get a different one. The magnet did improve over time, and the case cover does "hold on" to the screen somewhat now. Or maybe I got used to it. Don't know.
Same here, the magnet seems to get stronger over time. When I just got it, the cover would open when holded upside down.
Now it will stay closed.
Same here as well, the magnet seemed totally flaky when I got the case but now (a year after), it kinda holds on to the rest of the cover.
Pitty, there are no decent aftermarker cases for the moto g [emoji17]
