Hi there,
Im on CM11 M11 Snapshot build and I was wondering if there is any way to have a torch switch on the lockscreen halo part where the shortcuts are like messaging etc.
I tried adding an activity to the button to do the main activitiy of the torch app but it just opens up the torch app as normal. I am trying to just have a switch like what is available on the toggles part of the notifications bar.
If it cannot be done on CM11, can anyone suggest a stable 4.4 ROM which will allow me to have a torch shortcut on the lockscreen? Really wish this was a standard feature of android
Thanks!

I have another option. It might not be the one that you want, but I hope you kind of have interest in it.
Xposed Module APM+, has the ability to modify your power menu. I add an item to turn on the torch inside the power menu. So whenever I need a quick light, all I have to do is open the power menu and tap on the item.
If you insist, I can't recommend any other application anymore sorry.

TBH man, that would do fine, I used to have an advanced power menu when I was using stock, and it worked well, only problem was the menu didn't always activate and i had no torch option sometimes. Ill try out this module and let you know how it goes, any shortcut to the torch is nice. The torch shortcut on the quick settings works really well but it doesn't work on the lockscreen if you have security on.
On CM's lockscreen, i remember there being a shortcut to the torch switch, but the torch app looks like its had a major overhaul so im guessing the switch/shortcut hasnt been added in yet?
Thanks for the suggestion!

Mate I've found a way to quite actually solve your problem. The torch does have an activity(?) you can put it in the navigation bar ring shortcuts. As I believe you are quite of an advanced user, I am sure you understand what am I talking about
UPDATE: Nope it does not have an activity. Maybe this ring target toggle has something else under the bonnet
Go to Settings, Buttons, under Navigation Bar, choose Quick Launch Shortcuts. Then choose your desired ring target and select Toggle Torch!

Hey guys.
I've searched for a couple of hours for 2 apps and can't find them. I ran a search on xda and nothing.
First app:
A battery indicator that i can see in the notification area but does not have a icon on the notification bar. I want to be able to drop down the notification bar and see the status of my battery in percentages. I prefer my notification bar as clean as possible.
Second app:
Power controls in the notification area. I found Quick Settings, but that opens another app to change the settings. I'm looking for a way to activate wifi, bluetooth and so on just by taping something in the notification area.
Thanks.
So, the conclusion is that there are no such apps?
It s only too much.
Quick settings is very impressive. It starts the app from the notification bar, thats right.
But, what would you all switch from the notification bar:
Wifi
APN
Brighness
GPS
Auto Sync
Bluetooth
Airplane Mode
etc...
There are too much options for one notification bar.
I'm thinking that an app like this would let me choose 3-4 toggles. I realize it's impossible to have them all.
Oh, and a toggle does not take a row, instead all the toggles should be on the same row but with separators between them.
OK, I' have to say, that I never found such a programm. Sorry.

So the default power bar widget won't work for you? It's pretty much exactly what you pictured, however a widget.
If you want to choose and have your own order, use beautiful widgets.
Why try and cram this into the notification area? You have 5 desktop screens (more with add-ons and custom ROM's) to put this stuff. Navigation from screen to screen is fast and easy (even if you hate the swipe thing).
Or this even? http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/com.extendedcontrols/
Dunno, just lost as to why I guess.
Yes, you are right, it looks like the power settings widget, but i want it in the notification area to be able to change settings without leaving the current app and stop using the widget. I need the space for other stuff
moved to the Q&A section
What about quickdesk? Kmobs hads mentioned it on twitter couple of times. you can put anything you want even the settings widget and can change it without leaving the app.

Hm, its getting close to what i want. I'll give it a try.
UPDATE: It looks promising but it hijacks the "once press home button" functionality, meaning i can't get home. Uninstalled!

Are you talking about the widget? If yes, its not what i'm looking for. Like i said, both apps need to display something in the notification area, so no widgets and no notification bar icons.

i never tried it but damn is too bad the home button gets removed didn't know it. but the app is in beta maybe it will get fixed.
UPDATE: Today the QuickDesk app was released on the market and it fixed the issue, so now i can use it
One problem solved.
PS: I strongly recommend QuickDesk so go download it.
Im coming from WM cooking, and just started with theming on my Nexus S.
But im missing a key ingredient on the N S.
and that is from Galaxy S i had, quick access to on/off swithes for wifi, bluetooth, silent etc. see screenshot.
if anyone can help me or build it for me i would be forever greatful as this feature is one of the best one.

yup. its in all nexus s's also, power control widget. its just modified in cm to include more features
there are paid apps $0.99 that can do that as well
as i recall Switch PRO (forgot correct name) have the option to attach itself to the status screen

Stock Android 2.3.1 (which Nexus S) uses doesn't have that.
PS. Is it really necessary to write in bold/red/italics? Man it was annoying having to edit the quote to remove all that.
my work around is to stick the Power Control widget on a screen of my choice
it's included with stock Android
but there is no option to attach it to the status screen

Yeah, that's what I thought
to above user, i loove to use different fonts/color/size.
well, i was looking for the powercontrol for the statusbar, as the statusbar is accesible everywhere, when desktop is not, as i recall

Again, CM has the setting to change the colors and the items in the status bar power widget
Widgetsoid does a great job at a power control widget and it is free.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/widgetsoid2-x/com.jim2
I've missed this from my Galaxy S too, but the best work around I've found is Quick Settings - search on appbrain (cant post links as I'm 'new') and configure it to display in the notification shade, but to hide the icon in the notification bar.
If there is another solution to properly get buttons as on the Galaxy S ROMs (other than the often suggested - "flash CM7") I'd love to hear of it though. I know the notification shade can't be edited by a simple .apk, but this isn't the first time I've seen this request and would have thought it really ought to be possible somehow without delving into the deepest darkest recesses of the android system -but of course I am probably wrong
If you use a Honeycomb ROM on your GTablet, you would have noticed that the bottom status bar in Honeycomb is persistent and no app seems to be able to get rid of it. Well, this is a feature of Honeycomb which allows you to use a device without hardware button for function like "Back", "Home", "Menu", etc.
For many users, this "persistent status bar may not be a problem. But if you feel like that status bar is "cramping your style" (perhaps you have a movie scaled perfectly for the GTablet and you want to watch it in it's full screen glory) and you know that the GTablet hardware buttons gets you where you want to go, you now have a way to getting rid of that status bar.
dima_tr @ TabletRoms has developed a small app which toggles (show/hide) the Honeycomb status bar at will. He has shared this app along with the source code at TabletRoms (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=App-to-toggle-Statusbar-in-Honeycomb-works). I have merely mirrored his work here in an attempt to share this with the community here at XDA.
Once installed, this app does not create any icon in the launcher. To use this app, you have the long-press the "Search" button". Upon doing so, you will see a pop-up with a list of apps with "Statusbar Toggle" as one of the apps (see the first screenshot below for an example). Selecting Statusbar Toggle will toggle on/off the status bar. You may choose the make this the default action for the Search button long-press action.
As of Flashback Alpha 7.1, this app is included in the ROM update zip.
IMPORTANT:
Please note that this app requires "root" permissions since it does something which is not exposed by the "official Honeycomb API" (i.e., it is not something Honeycomb ROMs allow developers to control).
This is a Honeycomb specific app and will not work on other versions of Android.
I take no credit for this app. All credit goes to dima_tr @ TabletRoms.
Though I have personally tested and used the app on Flashback 7.0 and GTabComb 3.3, I (or the developer) take no responsibility in the unlikely event that your GTablet blows up and wipes you clean off the face of the earth. Use at your own risk. Have fun!!

SCREENSHOT [Honeycomb Without status bar]
Works like a champ, thanks for the heads up
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I am posting this from my GtabComb 3.3 with 1024x27 extra pixels...
Brilliant, +1 for the link.
Thanks
I am on Flashback 7.1 and it works the first time, but after that it brings up a blackscreen with StatusBarToggle across the top, and the statusbar at the bottom. I am not locked but have to hit home to get out of it and the statusbar is always there. As I said it is gone the first time, and if I go in to settings and applications and clear the default settings it works the first time again.
yes! this is something i've been on the lookout for. thanks.
Sweet!

What firmware is VG 1.0.5??? Is it a Honeycomb ROM??
By adding widgets (like Music) and adding shortcuts to the circle?
I really like the look of the lockscreen, but if I can't customize like the default lockscreen I may switch back.

I did wonder this too. I'm using AOSPX 4.0.4 BR6 and it's a problem I can't work out.
I also had a problem adding a 2nd Google Drive account, but this was fixed by adding another Google account. This is different to how the Drive worked in Virtuous Quattro RC3, which allowed you to add another account directly from within the Drive app.
Any ideas anyone? Or is the feature removed from AOSP/AOSPX?
Thanks.
Here's what you do...process should be somewhat similar for all aosp based roms...but this is for cm9

Staying on topic here, there are no such options for the lock screen customisation in AOSPX 4.0.4 BR6. All there is are:
1. SCREEN LOCK - Slide, Password, Pin, Pattern etc.
2. OWNER INFO - obvious.
There are no settings to customise the lock screen or icons in any other way. Although Quattro RC3 did have this option, because I set it.
A 'long' hold of the MENU button on the HOME screen brings up some preferences, I thought it might be in here, but actually all this does is allow you to configure the HOME screen, i.e. number of home screens, search bar persistence etc.
Any other ideas? Thanks.

thats wasn't really going off topic...this thread is in the vivid q&a section
I'm pretty sure its in pure aosp... but not positive (not running a pure aosp so I can't test...) so as of right now I have no other suggest ions except maybe go the thread of your aosp from and ask there...or preferably its q&a thread if one exists
