[Q] Backup IMEI partition? - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to backup the IMEI partition of my phone, in case something go wrong.
Thanks!

Currently there is a way but I think it's useless since we know ( from the old moto g model ) that a restore won't affect your lost imei at all.
That discussed partition is called "pds", we should instead search for the real one

Oh, thanks anyway!

Thats mostly a Samsung issue, on HTC`s and most other phones EFS data is on a separate non-removable partition. There is usaualy no need to backup this partition.
Imei error

You will have to get it back first. You may have to flash a stock RUU and that may help.

HTC doesn't have a EFS partition. You must be coming from a Samsung device. No? That's why you asking that.

Please I need your HELP...!

I'm still with my broken SGS3 mini (GT-i8190) using it only for computer. I cannot make any call or something like that, so the internal signal doesn't work.
My phone broke about a year ago (IMEI null, not generic; Serial Number modificated; unknown baseband). This happended when I tried to flash the thirth time the ENOX ROM, and a couple of days after the phone begun to run slower, and 4 hours after (during the same day) the phone have frozen and didn't boot anymore.
Then I tried to flash (stocks ROM, stocks ROM with root, CM, Carbon ROM, etc...) and I cannot regenerate or recover the IMEI/SN/Baseband.
I have not any box to try to fix my phone, and I cannot buy one (a lot of money for me just now).
I thought that if it possible a thing, I would like to test but I don't know if it's possible.
I was thinking in take a entire EFS folder from other device SGS3 mini (same model, no L/N) and try to edit the files that contains the IMEI information and this thinks with hexadecimal editor. It would be possible? Or it's stupid try to do this? I don't know... **** (sorry).

Yes your EFS is broken. EFS is a partition and not just a folder You can backup a EFS from a another s3 mini and restore it to your one but you will get signal problems example WiFi because same MAC address) and the other s3 mini too. You should know the IMEI number is NOT saved in EFS partition, the real IMEI is saved in a hidden partition so it means you didn't lose your IMEI. But your IMEI security key code (it's saved in /efs>imei) is gone and it means you will never get access to your IMEI number again.

Thanks for all...
Imei is probably stored in CSPSA partition which is mmcblk0p9. I can see my serialnr in there and referees to modemfs, but the rest is encrypted.
I started to look at this a bit closer today to see if I can find out how this all is put together.(efs/modemfs/CSPSA).

Partitions backup

Hi Guys,
Another new owner of Mi Note pro here.
Anyone found the way how to backup IMEI and all partitions data (nv data) to easily recover phone after losing it? Been trying to find some tutorial however it seems as none is working for me.
Any idea?

Restore IMEI To XT1072

Hi guys
I've looked all over the internet on how to restore the IMEI and I don't seem to be having any luck. At the moment the IMEI under the Android system shows as '0' I and I want to restore it to the proper code that's printed on the inside of the phone and outside of the packaging box. I initially made a NANDROID backup using TWRP but no EFS partition that other phones use was backed up, so I have no idea how I can restore the IMEI information. I'm trying to install Cyanogenmod 13 but I'm disappointed that the incorrect IMEI is showing. I have even restored the entire TWRP backup and the IMEI is still showing as '0'.
Can some help me out here please.
Many thanks
Will
I just flashed CM13 and IMEI came back, but the phone works only in 2G now
(I have xt1079)

Baseband + IMEI Unknown

Hello
I recently lost my s10 and now got my hands on a new one (exact same model)
I thought i was smart and restored a TWRP backup from the lost phone on the new one
I guess the mistake was that there was also the efs partition included in the backup
The rom (newest beyond) works without problems but the sim card is not recognized and baseband and IMEI both show unknown
so i flashed the original samsung firmware with odin but even then i have baseband and IMEI unknown
Did i just screw my new s10 or does anyone have an idea?
any help much appreciated
Anyone has an idea what I could try?
Or did I really kill my phone for good
My guess is that you may have wiped out the new phone specifics, such as IMEI and other things. I'm not sure if you can recover that in some way, or if you need to just find a way to get your old IMEI back. I would probably try to restore my old IMEI if I can (see if you can identify the old one from your carrier's website or something, for example).

I know the original imei, it's printed on the phone but how could i flash that to my phone? Seems to be impossible
There are ways, but they are not allowed to be discussed here on XDA. I've seen Youtube videos that cover it as well.
