I'm still with my broken SGS3 mini (GT-i8190) using it only for computer. I cannot make any call or something like that, so the internal signal doesn't work.
My phone broke about a year ago (IMEI null, not generic; Serial Number modificated; unknown baseband). This happended when I tried to flash the thirth time the ENOX ROM, and a couple of days after the phone begun to run slower, and 4 hours after (during the same day) the phone have frozen and didn't boot anymore.
Then I tried to flash (stocks ROM, stocks ROM with root, CM, Carbon ROM, etc...) and I cannot regenerate or recover the IMEI/SN/Baseband.
I have not any box to try to fix my phone, and I cannot buy one (a lot of money for me just now).
I thought that if it possible a thing, I would like to test but I don't know if it's possible.
I was thinking in take a entire EFS folder from other device SGS3 mini (same model, no L/N) and try to edit the files that contains the IMEI information and this thinks with hexadecimal editor. It would be possible? Or it's stupid try to do this? I don't know... **** (sorry).

Yes your EFS is broken. EFS is a partition and not just a folder You can backup a EFS from a another s3 mini and restore it to your one but you will get signal problems example WiFi because same MAC address) and the other s3 mini too. You should know the IMEI number is NOT saved in EFS partition, the real IMEI is saved in a hidden partition so it means you didn't lose your IMEI. But your IMEI security key code (it's saved in /efs>imei) is gone and it means you will never get access to your IMEI number again.

Imei is probably stored in CSPSA partition which is mmcblk0p9. I can see my serialnr in there and referees to modemfs, but the rest is encrypted.
I started to look at this a bit closer today to see if I can find out how this all is put together.(efs/modemfs/CSPSA).

Hi everyone,
Hope you can help me solve this, cuz I'm way out of my knowledge..
My phone broke the lcd and was out of action for a few months.. After I finally got a replacement screen, the phone wasn't working and said IMEI unknown, I've tried to flash a few roms via recovery but nothing. So I just went crazy and flashed it via kies. It worked, the imei appeared but the phone was locked again..
Back to the shelf a few weeks until I could afford to pay for unlock.. When I picked it up, it was unknown IMEI again and the guy at the shop basically told me he couldn't help.
Was he right? I refuse to believe I can't recover the phone.. Can you please help?

Are you sure is that phone imei is not blocked, because provider may block if it is stolen reported.
I had the same problem after changing display IMEI unknown
But somehow it was saved from 'unknown IMEI' I don't know how.
restored efs from previous backup (twrp & philz recovery)

- no IMEI

tried different modems
again stock
- suddenly its worked
(some users reported flashing different modems worked for them)
Yes I'm sure imei is not blocked by network. Have a friend that bought a phone which he discovered the hard way it was stolen, anyway, blocked imei by network behavior is completely different.
This is what happened to me first time only valid imei after kies rom update.

If you see imei again, Make a backup using pc, there is a guide in development section. So, you can easily restore again.
Earlier this week I had an unsuccessful install of the alpha CyanogenMod 13.0 rom - didn't want to be encrypted so I substituted the latest HC M kernel. wasn't the first time I couldn't get a new rom to boot so didn't initially think much about it but following that flash I couldn't get any new rom to install and successfully complete setup. Each try would get stuck at step right after wifi was set up. I eventually determined there was an issue trying to connect with Google servers. Tried a multitude of fixes but nothing worked. Ultimately I found that my IMEI and IMEI ID had been hosed and both were now 0's rather than the original IMEI number. I unfortunately did not have the efs partition backed up (at least that I could find). I have tried every method, tool, etc. I have been able to locate to repair or to re-write the IMEI to the phone but so far to no avail.
I restored the original stock software (going back to the original lmy47e on the phone when I purchased it) as well as subsequent releases with a hopeit could somehow restore the IMEI but nothing has worked. I have managed to getto where I can make and receive calls and SMS/MMS but once I'm out of wifi range, no internet access. I even have trid a new SIM from Verizon but tha made no difference. Still a bit confused as to where the IMEI value is stored (and how it could be corrupted) but at this point it looks like new phone time (already ordered a new N6 from Amazon).
Hoping maybe someone might have some suggestion that might help me out. Seems like the N6 is new enough and different enough that the usual fixes don't seem to work. I know discussions around flashing IMEI's isn't really legit on xda but I'm just trying to get back my original IMEI rather than trying to mask a problem phone.
The only accepted way to get it back is to restore a back up. Having the IMEI corrupted happens when roms flash the wrong partitions. Samsung is known for storing the IMEI in a partition that is easily corrupted or erased when flashed. Not normally a nexus issue and I'm not sure which partition the IMEI is stored under.
It is not unheard of that cm roms have some issues like this. It wasn't to long ago that they bricked some nexus.
My IMEI shows 350000000000006. Most of the advice I've seen on this is to flash the stock firmware. I've tried this multiple times and it hasn't worked for me. I don't have a backup of the EFS partition that I can restore, but I do know what the actual IMEI is. I'm not really sure where to go from here. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

There is no way to fix that, I was facing the same problem after I updated my phone to Nougat, after trying every possible solution i.e. Odin flash, factory reset, contacting T-Mobile, I couldn't find a solution, and I had to get it fixed by a Z3X box, so find a good repair shop with Z3X box, and they will repair it for you, also, changing the IMEI is illegal in some countries, so you may have difficulties finding someone to repair your phone. After the repair, I couldn't upgrade to Nougat and I am stuck with Marshmallow because the Z3X fix didn't support Nougat at that time (a month ago).
My friend asked me to fix her phone and I am seeing the same thing, however when I boot to download mode and use the "show barcode" option (push home button instead of vol+) it shows me the proper IMEI, and the IMEI is also printed on the back of the phone. I thought that maybe because I can still see the IMEI in the "show barcode" that the EFS partition is not corrupt, but I'm starting to think it definitely is...
If I remember correctly you can change your IMEI with an Xposed module.
This had happened to me before theres 2 ways to solve this
Either replace the motherboard with another one
or take it into your carrier and say the sim card doesnt work(make sure its on stock firmware

What can I do to regain access to my network? I know it's not a motherboard problem because it happened after flashing stock software. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP.

I would remove and reinstall your SIM card and check your APN settings.

Did you install the right firmware for your region? You should check that or flash right modem file. If all else fails use kies to restore phone to factory or flash a custom rom and check if everything works.

So, I actually had to have an IMEI change... Long story - but, my question now is: is it possible to return to stock (completely stock) and NOT lose my IMEI number? I've heard some people say, "yes," and O be heard some people say, "no." Is it possible?

I don't think there is any risk of losing IMEI if you flash stock with odin, but if you have root then firstly take an efs backup, just in case, efs is where your IMEI is stored.

If you have root then in the root folder you will find a folder called efs. Just copy it and save it to your SD card or your computer. If you have custom recovery then you can save it from the backup option but I guess that won't help much if you flash stock with odin then it will remove your custom recovery. There are also some apps on the play store but I never used them, I use the first method.

Yeah, I'm just on stock, so that won't work - but, now I have another issue:
So, here's what happened... I got my IMEI changed, and all was good. But, then I realized that my phone was rooted. I tried to flash magisk to have magisk installed, and then my phone wouldn't boot up. Afterwards, I flashed stock to restore official device status, but when I did so, I realized that my network wasn't working. My IMEI (clean IMEI) is still showing, but I DO NOT have any access to my network and can't search the web or anything. What could be the issue, and what is the easiest way to fix it?

Did you flash the correct firmware? The same region as it was when it was working? Flashing a stock rom from a different region sometimes causes this and you need to flash the right one or at least the 'modem' file of the right one to get it working. Or you could use Samsung Kies software to completely recover your phone to its original state when it was bought. Also, What do you mean by saying changed IMEI? Did it not show it correctly or got corrupted and you fixed it? or you changed it completely to a different one from the original?
If you have a good IMEI just call your provider and give them your IMEI and your sim card numbers.

So, I have a good IMEI number, but I cannot register the network service. It tells me "Emergency Calls Only" even though it shows a signal in the top right hand corner. Are you saying that I just need to call TIGO (I am in Bolivia) and register my IMEI number as well the SIM card numbers - or, could it be that there is an even deeper issue? Also, which SIM card numbers are you talking about? Thank you, my friend.

I completely changed the IMEI to a clean one because, apparently, when I traded for the Note 5 (I am in Bolivia, and that's what people do here), the original IMEI was put on the blacklist. So, now I have a completely different IMEI that is clean (unreported), but I do not have any network access at all - furthermore, when I access the menu using *#0011#, it says "IMEI Status: NG" under IMEI Status. I'm not sure if it's a software problem? I have a friend looking at the phone, but I do not have any idea how it's going because he still hasn't been able to fix it.

When my son switched from an iphone to Android we had to call AT&T and give them those numbers before it worked. I had an Xperia phone that I had to do the same with. There are apps that can read your sim card number. It should also be printed on your sim card.
