I have sony z2 i get bored of devices really quick and it's time for a upgrade. I only care for camera and battery life the most. So which out of these 2 devices you guys think will be great device for camera and battery life? Thanks

This is note 4 forum so i recommend note4 lol
Note 4 have specific features that there is no phablet in the world can compare to this device up to now
Battery while good and with fast charging system you maybe never worry about it
2k resolution make this device have the best resolution of phablet world
Camera is great. With 16 megapixel rear cam and a lots features in camera. Maybe z3 have better camera(20mp) but i still think note 4 cam good enough for me .
More and more feature with S pen you will find out when you have it
So i recommend Note 4 ( i use exynos version)

Well If you get bored real fast then don't go Z3 cause its almost identical to Z2.

The Note 4 will be better at both.
The Z3 has great camera specs, but Sony are rubbish at optimizing their software for the great camera HW, especially post-processing of images, very aggressive, while Samsung are brilliant at getting the best out of what is in fact a Sony 16MP sensor in the Note 4.
The Note 4 won PhoneArena's blind camera test, the Z3 came in 2nd Last with the LG G3 coming last:
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sams...comparison-iPhone-6-is-distant-second_id61676
As for batter, the Note 4 uses a more powerful yet also more efficient Snapdragon 805 CPU while Z3 uses the older and less efficient 801 CPU, also the Note 4 uses a far more efficient SuperAMOLED display while Z3 has a regular IPS LCD panel, the Note 4 battery is also slightly bigger.

Different strokes for different folks
Battery life: Z3 better for normal usage. About 1-1.5h screen on time.
Camera: Note 4 better accept extreme low light.
I have Z3 and already test Note 4 in about 1 week.

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Nexus-4s-camera-produces-purple-lens-flare-too_id36705
Nexus 4's camera produces purple lens flare, too
Well, we guess nothing is perfect in this world. Not even the Google Nexus 4 by LG, although we can easily forgive its few drawbacks due to the marvelous price Google has attached to it and the tons of cool features that have made their way inside the package.
When the iPhone 5 came out, some unhappy users started complaining that in some situations, the otherwise very capable camera makes bright lights such as lamps to appear with a nasty purple lens flare effects in images. Apple has even responded to those claims, saying that... this is the camera's normal behavior.
Now that we're seeing that the same happens with the Nexus 4, we can really believe that it's a normal issue for such camera sensors. Thanks to a Google+ user who has uploaded a rather coarse Photosphere shot, we notice that Google's handset is prone to producing abundant amounts of purplish lens flare, too. Unfortunately, we doubt it that there can be any kind of normal solution for that nasty effect, plus we guess that an accessory maker won't come to the rescue this time.
But you know what the good part of all this is? That it doesn't really matter much, since phone cameras have never been that great, really. And why should you bother with such issues, when you have so many other awesome features to enjoy, such as the quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, the beautiful 4.7" True HD IPS Plus display, or Android 4.2!

Nope.
(you can see it on the right side of the sun)
Btw this effect is something "common" when making photo in direct light, even reflex objetice have that defect, so i don't really mind if a smartphone have some purple fringing... just don't make high contrast/direct light photos
Canon lenses have purple too. It's just a side effect of CA/flaring:
the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Lens-Flare.aspx?FLI=0&API=0&FLIComp=0&APIComp=0&LensComp=0&CameraComp=0&Lens=115
dpreview.com/lensreviews/canon_50_1p4_c16/5 (scroll down to the flare section)
(XDA won't let me post URLs because I'm still a liability)
It's just worse on a phone because the back isn't meant to be high grade optical glass but a rather flat piece of glass.
There is thread about this already.
Please continue the discussion there.

No thanks! There's no way in hell I'm carrying a 5" phone (phablet?). That's still a niche market, just as the S3 is Samsung's main phone, and the Note 2 is their phablet offering. Even HTC has the One X+ which competes with the Nexus 4, and the DNA which competes with the Note 2.
Damn that phone is fugly!

You know the great thing about Android? Don't like the Nexus specs? There are a plethora of other devices from you to choose from.
Don't like the N4 specs. Don't buy it. And feel free to pay quite a bit more.
Actually many people thought that HTC was going to make the next Nexus. I was surprised to hear they went with lg.
HTC could have used the boost this year for sure.

Personally I am rather happy with the specs of the Nexus 4 as they are. Although I will concede that a 32gb version would have been preferred. I don't want a phone with a 1920 x 1080 display (I personally consider the current 1280 x 768 a bit overkill) and I most definitely would not bother with a phone that has a screen size of 5". I am already finding the 4.7" screen on the Nexus 4 to be a bit on the large size.
This may sound odd but I wish phone manufacturers would take a break from giving us ridiculous resolutions, huge ass screens and gazillions of teraflops. Instead I wouldn't mind them concentrating on other features like improving battery lifespan
This forum is for discussion of news, tips, tricks, guides, howtos, etc related specifically to the Nexus 4. If you would like to post stuff like this, you need to do so in our Android General forums or on your own personal blog.

People say that Moto X Phone will drop in Aug., equipped a Dual-Core CPU, Clear-Pixle camera, and a Big battery which can let you using it for over 2 days. As the Nexus 4 has overheat problem, and a poor battery, easy smash glass back... which one would you prefer.
Actually my Nexus 4 can handle two days' usage, but it is really hot at sometimes. I would prefer Moto X phone, if it will be available soon..

Two things:
Nexus > Motorolas custom Android skin (and yes the X wont have stock Android)
High end > Mid range
I'd need to see the reviews once it's released to make any judgements on it over the N4.

I'd say the decision comes down to what the real specs and details are when it's all officially announced. If it's vanilla Android with Moto widgets as a bonus- it will be interesting.
With Google/Motorola looking at spending a TON on marketing for this phone; it's hard to imagine Google allowing Moto to release something that won't grab a lot of people's attention.
Also, where it's being sold can be a factor for Nexus 4 owners. If it's carrier only I won't buy it. If it's through Play Store then we're getting closer to raising my interest.

I think I would stick with the Nexus. I don't like the button placement on that phone, I like the flat slab feel of the Nexus, curved phones tend to feel funny to me, glass > plastic, Nexus has a quad core where the X is said to have a dual core, etc.
LTE, better camera, better battery, and a better looking phone.... It is hard to stick with the N4 after the Moto X is released. It's rumored to have the same price as the N4 and considering it is being sold on the Play Store, it is clearly going to have a stock experience.
Easily the Moto X. Smart Actions are awesome imo. I always like Moto's build quality too. Their cameras are average. I should've bought a Moto Atrix HD over the Nexus 4 myself. The LTE will be active on the Moto X. I am preparing to sell my Nexus 4 for the Moto X or S4 in the next few weeks. The Nexus 4 is flawed because the digitzer is visible on each device, the camera is not great at all, the phone overheats too much, the battery is not as good as other devices like the S3. Outside of those issues, the phone is a good overall product. You cannot have everything for $330 (after tax and shipping.) The Moto X will have a slightly faster processor (might be dual core, but still faster, 1.7 dual > 1.5 quad even though dual will be overworked a bit more), the camera will be a lot better at 10 MP, the build quality will be better, the OLED display will help, the battery should be a RAZR Maxx HD style battery at like 3100 mAh, LTE like said before, customization on the build quality and design of your choice, and you can always put a rom like CM10 on it.

Hi all, is there any way to disable Superior Auto Mode on camera start-up? I would like it to start on "Normal" mode (green arrow in picture) since SAM is awful in low light situations and creates a grainy mess.

no idea... i just came back from a 4 days trip with my phone, best solution i could find is open the camera, put it in normal mode, than lock the phone with the lock key, next time when you unlock the phone (not with camera start up) you will go directly to camera on normal mode.
Thanks but I'm thinking of selling my ZR. Camera is just awful even my Galaxy Nexus took better pictures with just a 5mp camera. Didn't want an S4 but I guess it's the best phone right now. I have contracted Sony about their over processing and low headphone volume. Hopefully they issue an update or at least a reply. Or should I wait for a fix our maybe CM?

thats wierd, in my opinion the camera does a great job, pictures look good and sharp, colors are always nice and mostly white balance is fine.
i've had nokia N8 up untill now which had a great camera and i feel the ZR is not disapointing me.
about headphones are you sure the volume is low? i feel my head exploding if i put the volume to maximum... didn't feel it was low at all...

Sorry I meant the camera is bad in low light it's almost useless without the aid of additional light. I came from an HTC Amaze (aka HTC Ruby) that had a superb camera and the ZR feels like a downgrade. As for the volume. It's not as loud as my previous phones. I like loud music, specially when working out or mountain biking but I can live it it though

Yeah but still does any one have those apks?
Samsung just announced the Galaxy S5 Plus. Bummer I just bought my S5 about 2 months ago.. and literally just bought a Nexus 5 to play around with from the Play Store..
Features a 2.5Ghz Snapdragon 805 (underclocked from 2.7GHz found in Note 4)
Significantly faster memory bandwidth
Upgraded GPU (presumably a Adreno 420)
Faster LTE (advance 300Mbps).
Anyone here tempted to upgrade? Im wondering what the overall performance is like compares to S5 and Note 4.

Don't c a need to upgrade any further unless they improve the display and add more ram...And stop with all the dang lockdown on their phones ...if it wasn't for HTC so called ultra pixel camera I would jump to them ..
Do not buy plus phones, they will not be prioritized. Look at the s4 plus and its update history.
