Had similar issue. Not sure what helped either loading brand free firmware or reseting phone to factory default.

Glad it helped

Solution
i had same problem on my Z2 after k.k 4.4.4 upgrade.
the final solution was very easy:

[Q] Sony Xperia T keeps restarting

hi,
Ive got a problem with my SXT. It kept restarting randomly during the day. I rooted it before and was everything fine till one day. Now I cant use my phone cause it keeps restarting all the time. When i switch it on i cant evan touch the screen without restart. Ive flashed few roms already, stock ones either and nothing helps. I also wiped all data, cache etc.
Really strange problem cause phone works fine when its charging.
Has anyone any idea?
ps. repair via pc companion didnt help too.
Thanks.
Does your phone have CWM? Just wipe cache and dalvik cache
Or you can repair your phone by using PCC/Update Service

sorry for my bad english
Hi,
No, I didnt check it. Will do ASAP.
btw. Ive updated my fw to the newest one.
edit. sim card seems to be fine. :/
SIM card placement causes random restarts. Make sure it's on their seated properly and securely.

Having the same issues
Only my phone is also freezing even after repairs using both the PC Companion and also SEUS, reformatting my sd card and also a return to Sony.
SIM card is original Micro Sim It is crashing anything from 5 to 10 times a day, with data and/or wifi turned on. Even with the data and wifi turned off I am getting restarts.
Wondering if returning it to Sony did you any good dajbanana? or whether I need to raise the phone as faulty to the point it needs replacement with Sony GB?
you are using a kernel what is not ment for the rom? i mean, using a cm10 kernel on stock rom for example.

or a new phone?
So the only solution for this issue is to send off to Sony for them to replace the battery components? I had a strong feeling it may be battery related. First(and to be last) phone I have owned which hasnt had a removable battery. But then I wasnt fussed as I have never had to replace a battery on a device in my life!
I am with you. My last phone was Motorola Photon, my friend still has it with original battery and it is 2 years old phone.
This is big fail in mobile device.
Even new battery jumps down by more than 100mV, when you make a call for example. I will try again when it reaches 3,7V (nominal voltage).
It is even worse. About 160mV dropdown when starting a call.
i think the battery was a problem for me to it crapped out and i think thats also a reason why it wont work so goodbye sony hellooooo google/lg

[q] apps won't open??

Hi there,
I am just having the most weird thing on my phone since yesterday. Some apps won't open. I mean, I click on them and nothing happens, no error message, nothing. I thought it was a virus so I ran the antivirus (trustgo) but nothing is found.
The strangest thing is that sometimes if I insist and keep touching an app it may open.
If I reset my phone it starts working normally again. Then I install my apps but if I reboot it...bam! I cannot even drag and drop the apps!
Does anybody know something about this ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I'd say don't try to figure out why. Just do a factory reset, if that doesn't work, reflash.
If that doesn't work get a new phone.

Thank you. I have done the factory reset and it works fine. It's just that I begin installing my apps and then I reboot it ( and rebooting always now to check on this) and that's when it happens.
I mean, if it was an app with a virus, the antivirus program would let me know, right?

I don't think viruses on Android work that way. They just steal some of your info
Antiviruses on Android are still at Alpha/Beta stage I believe. I think it was an app that messed up with your system files or something.

Thank you all. Gosh!!! No, I am at the office so I cannot laugh out loud for my own stupidity. You know what? Yes, indeed, as soon as I flashed a room, I turned off all animations so that ( supposedly) it would have no lag at the homescreen. All this time thinking about a virus, a malware. I was even thinking that the ROMS I flashed were not working well, etc and it was that....OH GOODNESS!!!!!!!
Thank you very much! What I will do now is that I will set animations at 0.5 then.

There is a problem with the Xperia Z launcher where the shortcuts become unresponsive after using an aftermarket launcher.
To fix this problem, go into App Management and find Xperia Home, then wipe its cache
This seems to to do the trick also.

Wifi issues

I just got my z1 and it's having trouble holding a Wifi signal for any period of time unless it's right next to my router. Even if I close the door I lose my signal. I'm running 4.3 and was wondering if there's any way I can check to see if I have faulty hardware?
Thanks

Yeah, I posted in another thread about I saw about the issues, and its at the point where wifiis not working at all. No networks in the area are show, and if they are, then only for a split second. Not sure why seeing as how I am on stock 4.3 no root. I decided to do a factory reset in the middle of writing this message. Everything is working fine now, so far.
Ok so, if I do a factory reset it should all be ok? I have a question, I just got this phone set up the way I like it, wallpaper, apps, folders, widgets, etc. I dont wanna have to do all that **** again so is there any way I can do a factory reset and back my phone up so that when I restore it comes out exactly how I left it?
So you can do backup several ways including the built in backup app, which I originally used. The problem is when I restored the backup, I started experiencing the same issues as before. I just did another reset and things are working normal for now.
I've updated each of the Sony apps with a restart and wifi switch off between each app to make sure it wasn't any of them. So far so good, so believe it was something in my settings back up. Clueless as to what though.

Three random issues - Has anyone else experienced these?

Background info: I've had my Xperia Z1 only for two to three weeks now. I've been enjoying every part of it, but I've come across three particular gripes I have to mention.
First, random app crashes. One time the Album crashes, the other time System crashed. It appears to be random, not based on anything you were or weren't doing at that moment. I don't think I'm the only one with this though.
Secondly, and here's where it gets weird: my on-screen buttons disappeared. I believe I was just closing GTA: San Andreas. Suddenly, the buttons were gone. I could scroll through the app drawer perfectly, still. That's the odd thing. I should've taken a screenshot if I realised this earlier. I will next time it happens, so let's hope I don't have to. After a while, the phone froze and I decided to reset it, after which everything returned to normal. I guess that's one part where hardware buttons beat software - they don't magically disappear (I hope..).
Lastly, I opened the camera and it looked like it lagged. I pressed the Home button twice or thrice, but then the entire device froze and it kept vibrating like hell! I don't particularly enjoy 5" vibrating devices so I decided to reset it as quickly as possible. No way that could've been good for the device.
Have you experienced one of the last two issues I've had? Or have you had something similar yet different?
Let me know below!

I'm sorry, what?
It's pretty important to not lose the three main on-screen buttons, not to mention having a device that doesn't vibrate like you-know-what.
What would repairing the firmware do? The phone is still new. There couldn't be anything wrong with the firmware, not solvable by flashing the same firmware over it again, I reckon.

yeah these are problems and easily can be solved
by PC companion.
even more issue can appear on new phone.
these are bugs on ur ROM
when u repair firmware, PC companion will download latest firmware (available for ur region) and install it on ur phone.
That can solve ur problem.
-
if repairing by PCC didn't help u should download Flash-Tool for Xperia & firmware of another region and flash it.
u can find useful information about it here.

Try repair is really the first thing to do with ROM dependent error, so there is nothing wrong with the answer.

How can this be a ROM dependent error when I just had my Xperia Z1 for a couple of weeks and updated to official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean through an Over The Air update? My Android firmware is as official and up-to-date as it gets right now.
EDIT: Actually, I wasn't even asking for a solution. I was purely wondering if anyone else had these specific issues as well.

Because any update (especially an OTA) might fail and because these errors (mentioned, i think, for the first time here) are ROM dependent.
So first thing I would do is trying the repair.
I'm aware that you only asked for similarities, but as the are annoying errors, we just wanted to help with a possible solution.
Are you running a 4.3 stock ROM?
Do you use bluetooth/have it turned on?
If yes to both, it is a bug in the 4.3 roms related to bluetooth. Only solution I am aware of is to restart the phone whenever it happens and if you can leave bluetooth off

[Q] Anyone experiencing SERIOUS crashes after the Z1 sound-fix update [on stock]?

Hey XDA'ers,
First off, in case anyone mentions that I have to use the search function of XDA: I did an I couldn't find any thread with this exact question, so I presume it's okay. Now, ever since I've installed the sound fixing update Over The Air, my phone crashes quite often. This happens most often when I play music through my amplifier with a standard 3.5mm cable. There seems to be about half an hour in between but it varies. The music would suddenly stop and my phone won't turn on anymore, with a completely black screen. If I then wait a little longer, the phone restarts and it does not even require me to enter my SIM's PIN code which is odd on its own, as if it doesn't fully crash but reboot on its own or something. I thought it only happened while listening to audio, but it just happened again when I only tried to open the Album app, I got the message that the app crashed and while that message was popping up (it was still a bit transparent) the phone froze and rebooted.
Now, I'm used to regular apps suddenly crashing with my Xperia Z1 which is weird to begin with, but opening these apps again just gets rid of the problem. It was only a minor annoyance so far, but it did make the Z1 look like the firmware wasn't stable at all (multiple apps keep crashing, even the front camera today as well...). But now that the phone even reboots at least every day, the minor annoyance is becoming a major annoyance. I really don't want to reinstall the firmware because it takes too much time to reinstall all the apps and data I have on the device.
So I'm just wondering now, am I the only one with this issue? I don't suppose there's an easy way to fix it without factory resetting or reflashing firmware. And by the way, I'm completely on stock with my device. I haven't rooted, unlocked the bootloader or anything. If you've experienced this as well, please let me know. Maybe we can dive into it. Have you for example reset factory settings with the issue reoccurring? Have you flashed the firmware yourself and did the issue perhaps stop? I'd love to know.
~ Herman :cyclops:
Try repair the Z1 via PC companion, you will not lose any data to do that and maybe will fix the problem, otherwise a Factory Reset will be recommended.

Wait, this PC Companion repair does not erase any kind of data on my phone? Are you sure?
I thought it would just reflash my firmware and basically do a factory reset. Which is not what I'm looking for.
Have you not experienced any app crashes or rather sudden phone reboots?
I have the same. Sudden reboots. It was the same way when I was rooted on the.. 757 firmware.
I did the repair with Sony update. Still the reboots but even more random. When rooted it usually rebooted when using camera.
Also the touchscreen doesn't react like normal sometimes. Not that often it happens but it happens.
Reboots about once every day and at completely random occasions.
I'm guessing it's the firmware, just have to wait until a stable firmware comes. Until then we are stuck beeing testpilots for Sony developers.

why you are afraid to start from 0 ... I can not understand ... too much of laziness??? your stories of wanting to keep your data, tends to cause bugs that are not on a clean system...
You can save the very important files on your computer... And restore the principal after...
You should atleast try a repair but for me everything actually got worse after the repair.
Someone at Sony replied to me with "have you tried your phone without the sim card". Are there known issues with simcards making our phones crashing I wonder?
