We heard rumors that it'd have wireless charging and now the Motorola Site doesn't list it on the Droid Turbo Spec Site.

It would be nice. I have an N7 but haven't bought a charging pad yet because I didn't feel I'd get enough use from it. My N7 battery easily lasts me a full day and I just throw it on the charger at night. No big deal.
I use a Moto X right now and tether my N7 to it on my daily bus commute (~2 hours each day) and I usually need to give the battery some juice before I leave work to have enough for tether on the ride home and the remainder of the evening.
When I get the Turbo, it will easily last a full day. I don't think I'd ever really need the full two days of battery life, but it would be great for long days. My Moto X right now can't make it through an entire day with my usage. I know I'm probably above the bar in SoT (usually 3.5-4h), but I average about 13h, according to GSAM over the last 8 months. Could use a nice big battery to keep me going for 18-20 hours.

I guess it does have wireless charging...
The new DROID comes with a turbo charging feature so when you’re low on battery, a 15 minute charge can get you up to 8 hours of use. DROID Turbo comes with the Motorola turbo power charger in the box at no additional cost. And for added convenience, the new DROID is wireless charging capable.

I would say yes.

A tech reviewer from pocketnow says it does have qi wireless charging
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app

can anybody confirm this?

Got the phone in hand. Charging with Samsung Qi pad just fine.

Awesome..thanks for that

Semi-related.. Can anyone suggest a nice charging pad? I've looked at them for my N7 before and the prices seem to range pretty widely. I understand they charge pretty slowly.. but are they all the same for speed? Does the device need to be perfectly aligned in order to charge? Can I charge two devices at once (N7 and Turbo)?
I'm thinking I'll throw a pad on my desk and one at home, either in the living room (coffee table/end table) or bedside table.

There are some features of a phone that you appreciate more when you have them than you do when you read about them. An example might be high speed charging, their are a few technologies out there for this but the bottom line is when you have it you really come to like it. Its very nice when you have forgotten to charge your phone and you suddenly decide to go out to be able to get a charge on it that will see you through in the time it takes for a quick shower. When it was new and I first read about this it sounded good but no big deal, I usually make it through the day fine and charge over night. Now that I've had it though I really like it.
This is kind of a long way to get around to it but wireless charging is the same way. Its very nice to simply have the pad on the night stand or wherever you may put it and drop your phone on it without having to plug it in. It seems like nothing much but once you get used to it having to plug in seems like a bit of a hoop jump. One benefit of wireless charging that often gets missed is port damage, I have had more than one phone in the household that met its demise by tweaking the micro usb slot so that it either wouldn't charge or couldn't transfer data or both. My understanding is we will still have to plug in to get high speed charging but the ability to do both if we want is a very good thing in my mind.

Good points. I held off on a pad for my N7 because the battery easily lasts me through the day, two if needed (I usually charge it every night, though). Even though the Turbo probably wouldn't need to be topped off during the day like my Moto X would benefit from, it would be nice to have the option. I agree on the Turbo charger too. Great in a pinch if you are at an airport or something and just need some quick juice for a flight or something.

3.9Ah batt's gonna take a long time to charge with a 700mA limit though.
Should be OK overnight. Then again if it's only discharged to 60% when you start it shouldn't be hateful.

Yeah, wireless charging works best where/when you are going to set it down for a while such as over night or when you place the charger where you set your phone in the evening. I used both, one on the nightstand and one on the end table by my chair. In the latter case it is quite convenient since you can answer a text or what have you and simply set it right back down and its charging again. This is why I think its a great feature to have both wireless and high speed by whatever name, they should complement each other well. I say should because I've had both but not on the same phone, I'm really fairly stoked about this handset for this and other reasons.

Wireless Qi Charging base

So I have been doing a lot of looking and this is my first phone with Wireless/Qi charging. Here is what I found so far. What is everyones experience, favorites, and ones to avoid? Two of the main issues Ive seen are, how finicky is the charger on where you place the phone. And does it trickle charge. If it "turns off" at 100%, your phone will start to discharge and youll wake up at 90%.
LG-WCP-300 - seems a little small. Would love a slab type that I can just plop my phone down and hot worry it'll tip over because I put it too far to one side. It charges at 1.8 which is nice (I think per androidcentral, the power cord is 1.8, but the base drops it down to 1A, oh well)

Nokia DT-90 - some say you have to get it in that "sweet" spot, which is annoying when you are wanting to just put it down and go to sleep.

Panasonic Qi Charging Pad QE-TM101-K - doesnt trickle charge. So when it gets to 100...it turns off, then when your phone gets to ~95% it turns back on and then on and then off...and so on...no good. Although the size and ability to put it ANYWHERE and know itll start charging it perfect.

ZENS Wireless - "turns off after fully charged." so after it gets to 100%...itll turn off and Ill wake up with it at 90%??

I got the Nokia for my G2 based on all the reviews. No sweet spot needed so far. I just basically place the phone on the plate and it charges.
Went with the Nokia as well.Works fine.
I like the devices offered by TYLT - not only the QI charger due to its ability to serve as a table stand while charging the phone, but also the power plant and the USB connector cables are interesting. The design is nice, too. Has anyone recognized this brand and used their products?
Really like the Tylt Vu....been eyeing it forawhile, and may scoop one up.
I'm also interested in this: http://www.nokia.com/global/products/accessory/cr-200/ A little pricey but A LOT of functionality.
do you all charge your devices every night? all the old talk about not charging your device all the time so you don't "wear" out your battery. Is it actually better to have a charger that turns off and on? I liked the tylt charger too, thinking that or the nokia.

FYI - AT&T online has the Nokia charging plate for $24.50 (half off!) Free shipping but you need to pay tax (still a lot cheaper than elsewhere)
Anyone get the Nokia DT-900? Was looking at that one but I know the output is supposed to be pretty low.

I have it and I'm very happy with it. Charges quickly despite specs and there is no "sweet spot." Just drop and charge. Also, I like the cable from the wall outlet to the base was longer than most so it sits nicely on my desk at work.

Verizon is the only one.
Just pulled the trigger on the TYLT VU, liked the idea of having it upright a little. I think the LG charges faster but Ill be charging overnight so no biggie. FYI...Nordstrom is $100 but from TYLT is $70!
dt-900 is $25 @ AT&T's store... if you have a premium corporate discount, drops another 50%.. Just got 2 for $25 shipped
I picked this one up, but now i'm unsure because it says there is a 1A output, doesn't that mean it will say it's slow charging? Love the idea of being able to charge on the go.

Wireless Charging

Can we take a minute and just appreciate having this ability built-in? Being able to keep my phone topped up by literally just setting it down on my desk is pretty awesome.
Mods please remove if my fanboy is leaking.
I ended up getting a Sony battery pack + wireless charger device from Verizon when I got my Edge (no doubt some will know what I'm talking about).
It's definitely chunkier than your typical wireless charging pad, but I get 3+ full phone charges from it before it has to be recharged itself (also has pass-through, so you can still use it to charge your phone while it's plugged in).
Build in wireless charging is definitely a great feature.

That's the one (or at least I think it is, there's always the possibility there's a newer model that I have - but it looks/functions the same).
Don't let the negative reviews sway you, a lot of people complain that it's hard to get it to work but I believe that's only because they didn't read the instructions. It states that once you hit the button (to active wireless charging on the pack) you have to place the phone on it pretty quickly - if you don't, it'll start charging and stop after a few seconds. It works just fine through my incipio case and as I mentioned in my above comment I get 3+ charges from it when it's fully charged itself.

This is my first time with wireless charging, and I have to say, what a great feature. I now don't charge with the traditional cable unless I am in my car. I have a four 3 coil chargers from RAVPower and CHOE and they are nice. No issues charging at all. I have a friend who has an Incipio Ghost 120 wireless charger and my phone charges without an issue on that as well. Yea, I don't think I am going to go back anytime soon to regular wired charging unless I have to.

Samsung Wireless Charging Pack Review

Hi Guys,
This is going to be my first review. figured it might help some people decide whether to buy Samsungs Wireless Charging Pack. For those in the Philippines, i got mine at the samsung official store in SM Aura, BGC Taguig
Just got it a few hours ago so this will just be my initial review with photos, ill give a whole day of use review tomorrow when ive had the chance to use it fully.
Findings:
1.) The case is huge, actual measurement with the phone in is 1.8cm or 0.7 inches. It really feels like a brick
2.) It makes the phone heavy. I dont have a way to measure it exactly but an estimate would be a can of coke (the drink).
3.) its not "Fast Charging" feels like the speed of a normal wireless charger, about an hour for 25%. but then its a phone case with a battery so its not much of a bother since there are no cables.
4.) Wireless charging doesnt work with the case on. the case will charge your phone wirelessly, but if you put it on top of your "desk/normal wireless charger" with the case on, it wont charge your phone. case is too thick
5.) not sure if this is safe or if it might damage the phone, but if i plug the case to charge with the phone attached to it, it charges both. the case charges and it charges the phone wirelessly at the same time.
6.) as can be seen on the photo, there is no "over lap" or "lip" when the phone is in the case. if your phone drops screen first, there is no protection
so basically thats all i can say for now. Tom ill try to see if it can charge the phone to full from empty with one charge.
Im a heavy phone user, the note 5 if unplugged at 7am only lasts me till 2pm. so this will help alot. i can deal with the increased size and weight as long as my phone makes it to bedtime.
let me know if you have any questions, ill try to answer them.

thanks for posting pics... been looking for this device.
Where did you get it? I have been looking for this.
How efficient is wireless charging? for example, if the battery pack is 3400MAH and the internal battery is 3000, can the pack charge the phone from 0 and still have some left over? or does it only manage 1 full charge (a waste of 400MAH) or can it only charge up to 90%... etc.
I got it from an Official Samsung store here in the Philippines.
Cant answer this right now because i think i got a faulty unit. Ill return for an exchage over the weekend. Its only able to charge my phone from 10% - 50% before the battery pack goes empty.

I've been thinking on this and I almost think it would be better to have a separate battery that includes a Qi pad, as opposed to one built into the case.
Built into the case, you always have to tote it around when it might not be useful to you.
you can't use any other case
you couldn't opt for a wired connection, assuming that wired is more energy efficient than wireless.
I'm all about convergence and efficiency, but this doesn't seem to be as beneficial as it ought to be.
In my opinion, a separate battery pack with a qi receiver and fast charger, so it could charge on your pad (or cable) , and then put your phone on top of that, so the phone could charge at the same time as the batter pack.
------ Phone in its case ----------
------ Spare battery ------------
------ Qi Fast charger -----------
The have a magnetic connection between the phone in your own case and the battery pack, so for those that keep their phone loose in a purse or bag or pocket could use it without cables or straps keeping them together.

Hi. Yes i did get a replacement. Seems to charge faster also. Well 3 hours from 0 - 80. Im guessing it might be able to charge up to 100% but i use the phone while its charging which could account for the 20%.
I find myself using the fast charging battery pack more. Maybe its just personal preference. But the "wireless pack case" is just too heavy and takes too long to charge that its become cumbersome. While the fast charger battery pack only takes an hour and its done charging

I bet it won't. I don't see them adding wireless charging until it can be called "Wireless Warp Charge"
Everyone said the same about the 6/6T last year.
I doubt they add wireless charging. It's more parts with very little adoption that will increase the price. They already can't be making a ton of money off this phone, I can't see them adding something that they can't charge more for.
Don't need it. Don't care.
I can't understand why wireless charging is still considered such a premium option. It renders your device useless unless you are going to use it while on the wireless dock. At least with a cable I can still pick up my phone if I choose to and use it almost normal.
I had a V30 that had wireless charging and I only used it when I went to sleep at night. What difference does it make how the device is charged in that scenario?
If they want to add WiFi charging, then we are talking but I don't even think that is a thing. I'd rather the precious space in a smartphone be used for other more useful technologies.
This post is just another reminder that some people just don't understand the speed of technology. Wireless charging is not yet adopted because it is still first generation technology. Your phone charges faster wired than wireless and it's just true for any type of device. Wireless charging is like using solar panels. After a long time you will eventually have enough energy.
Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk
I never understand this wireless thing. You cannot use your device while charging, its slow and heats up your phone (usually), the charger has to be plugged into somewhere anyway and it adds cost and people are already complaining that it is to expensive.
Can not understand wireless ???
I do not get this comment and I heard it time after time.
I have a wireless charger on my night stand.
No looking for cables in the dark.
No mechanical connector you got to plug and unplug at least once a day. You think USB C sockets can not go intermittent ?
Just glance at the phone "always on display.... guess we do not have that either", the phone acts like a digital clock.
Oh yes you need hours to charge the phone but why would you care, go to bed the battery can be at 20% in the morning hours later it will be at 100%.
Yes OnePlus does not support wireless chargers but this is something I personally miss.
I can almost guarantee it won't, OnePlus sees no reason to add Qi charging
I'd rather have warp charging. You get enough juice to last a while with just minutes of charging, I'm more than happy with that.
It’s not an either/or thing.
Wireless charging still degrades your battery faster over time due to the increased heat dissipation. This is one prime reason why the technology is not evolving as fast.
If you really want wireless charging you can just get the adapter for it on amazon. It takes up your usb charging port and sticks to your case. I don't really miss it so no big deal.
Numerous purported experts with titles like Doctor of Electrical Engineering occupy all of the top 10 spots on Google... Care to cite any source that agrees with your claim?
It's a useless feature that the big companies want you to want. It's a really bad feature. With how dash/warp charging is I can use my phone while its charging and not have it slowed down. Better than being useless for far longer on a wireless pad.
Lol you guys don't know what you're missing, my girl has wireless charging built into her car and man that **** is so convenient. We have restaurants here that has wireless charging in the tables. I love being able to walk in the house and just lay my phone on the charger and go shower or whatever without having to bend over and plug it up. Don't really care about the speed of the charging even though Samsung has a pretty fast wireless charging capability on the S9 and S10. But for $700 bucks I'm not mad it doesn't have it but it would've been sweet if it did. I'm sure soon as one plus decides to implement wireless charging the price would creep up to about 8 or $900, so I'm good without it. Just keep the prices low OnePlus ?
Buy one of these and now you have wireless charging. I use this on my OnePlus 6T.

I hear you on all that. I love wireless charging on my S10+, it's so convenient.
I have the Pitaka case and MagMount Qi magnetic car mount. It's so easy just to slap my S10+ on it and it starts wirelessly fast charging while in my car. I have a few Samsung wireless chargers throughout my house also.
Wireless charging is more about the convenience than the speed.

Umm you can go to bed with 20% battery and wake up Anna charge it and before you finished breakfast and got dressed, it's already at 100%.
Wireless charging has turned people into sheep and they got all the extra money from you and laughing all the way to the bank. More expensive phones, $50-$100 for each charger your buy. Lol really a useless feature

wireless charging

Hi this is my first phone that is capable of wireless charging. I have the pixel stand but I only like to charge my phone to 80 not 100. It greatly extends the overall life of the battery. Is there a way to make it trickle charge so I can just put it on my stand and go to sleep? I thought I read somewhere if you use a different wireless charger other than the pixel stand it wont charge at its max 10w. Is that true and can anyone recommend a wireless charger stand that would trickle charge my phone?
The phone mostly decides how charging is done. This is the same for wired charging. The charger has no idea how charged the phone is, so it doesn't know when to stop. Even if it is very slow, it won't stop until 100%.
Your phone would need to be rooted in order to have an application control/stop charging at a certain point. (I use Battery Charge Limit with custom settings)
Alternately without root, there are chargers with Bluetooth that can pair with an app to disable charging at the charger level when the app tells it to stop.

Two methods I've tried without root on my Pixel 4 XL:
Go-to Google Play and search "Chargie". This method requires a Bluetooth connection with a USB adapter inline with your charger. I tried this first but found it unreliable and a battery drain. I emailed the developer a few times and asked for improvements with less liability on battery. I'm not sure where that project has progressed since but updates sound like it had improved.
Second method didn't require any additional expense because I had the resources already. This method uses Tasker (no root required), IFTTT and a smart switch of some kind compatible with Webhooks on IFTTT. This tutorial walked me through my first and still only Tasker task. Wasn't hard but took some dedicated time and just a little patience and persistence and motivation. The tut is mostly doable but I can't recall the particulars but Tasker helps helped me to put it together. Something about a default change where I couldn't find the suggested option? Doubtful anyone familiar with Tasker would have an issue at all.
https://www.reddit.com/r/pixel2/comments/7vnsmo/how_to_prolong_battery_life_by_using_smart/
This is the method I've stuck with since setting it up. It works and isn't a battery liability. I do get a slow command to release power so I adjust the command % cutoff accordingly (2 or 4%). I didn't use wemo but another smart strip that gave me individual control of its outlets. All credit to the original reddit author and Tasker. Props to IFTTT and Webhooks applet for bringing it together.
I figured I could keep the Chargie USB adapter for traveling away from home or in my car. But one solution I found for my car was to setup a smart watch notification for Accubattery. It works; I get a notification vibe on my watch and unplug the car charger. If I used the Chargie, it would charge to a point and stop charging until phone got to another preset discharge and charge back to the preset point, like 80%.
Good to have options right root. I've rooted my previous phones but with adguard, I took inventory of what I really needed and this was the one I really couldn't do without. Still not rooted. But got a working remedy anyway.
I suppose Accubattery notifications is a third option...

Thank you both for the suggestions. I have always used acubattery and would unplug.my phone. Now I do the same only unplug the pixel stand. The thing is.i like.some of the features.of the pixel stand. I don't want to bother with root and I understand that the phone is what controls the charging. I will be trying the Tasker and ifttt method. I do have a few.smart pugs from kasa smart so I will see.ifmthey work if not I'll try a different one.
I did read somewhere when the pixel.stand first came out along I th the pixel 3 that the pixel 3 had to be on the pixel stand to charge rapidly and the 3rd party chargers were just a trickle or just not rapid. But I do not know if they have since fixed that with and update or in the pixel 4 itself so I will be trying the above instructions again thank you

There's still likely a way to also slow the charge with Chargie or swapping the power block that your Pixel stand uses. It's likely using Power Delivery which is quite fast. The slower charge is also better for battery.
Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 is slower but a standard block may be 5V 1Amp. Accubattery can help comparing charging blocks for ideal charge.
What Chargie does is allow you to set a profile with max battery temp and limit charge capacity which will slow it down. You would need USB adapters for the Chargie; it uses USB A male and female connectors.

Yeah I felt how hot the battery got and did not like that. I could just use the pixel stand and not plug it in. The battery doesn't seem to get that hot when charging with just the wire. But I'm going to look into charge. I like the idea of limiting the battery temp.

I have the type c to a converter that came with my pixel 4. I also have type A to type C cables is that all I need or are you talking about something else? It looks like there is a Male type A for input which I guess would go to the charger and I cant see the other side but Im assuming there is a female Type A for output which would go to the phone/wirless charger. Is that correct? If thats the case I can use two usb A to C wires

Hey I got the chargie last night. Trying to set it up. I have the converter that came with my pixel 4 and I have a few a to c cables. It works great. That was a good call my friend thank you. My only issue now is the stupid pixel stand won't charge wirelessly with those a to c cables. But I have the adapters coming for both sides so will.be using the original charger hopefully that works.
Do you know what a safe temp for the battery is? It's set at 140 but that seems too high to me.

Wow, that is high. Maybe that's for discharge? But Chargie should use charge temps- see the table and article below for lithium batteries. I didn't recall what my Chargie was originally set to but when I charge mobile devices, I setup with a charger with multiple cables coming from a multiple output USB charger to my air purifier. The forced air coming out at its top cools my devices so I set it to 86°F
This is the max temperature recommended by battery college for fast charging to better protect the battery. I've not monitored it but Accubattery can- use the charging tab. Seems I could go lower with the circulated air.
https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_at_high_and_low_temperatures
Edit: maybe Chargie uses an operating temp because it can be left plugged in to charge when it reaches your preset capacity. This is handy for a laptop or tablet on a plane plugged in to charge; charge to 80%, discharge to 45% and charge back to 80% without having to unplug or monitor battery capacity or temperature. Set accordingly and be worry free. 140 seems high but charging when using increases temperature. Set too low and it may not charge until you standby the screen to take the load off the battery. 140 so is max operating temperature but I don't feel that safe in that range. I'd standby that device rather than charge at that temperature. But the device is likely using that temperature range by default.

I haven't checked what the temp is when charging. I did notice it is hotter when using wireless charging. When chargie is not charging there is no power going to the device because it's basically just a Bluetooth switch. When it reaches it's charge it turns off the power. I have to test to see how long it takes to cool off the battery and that's how I will determine my discharge percentage. Give it enough time to cool off then charge back to 80.

I agree. That's the likely intention for a phone. But can also be modified to remain plugged in while on a plane. But that's likely a tablet or laptop use.
The profile options were a factor in selecting the Chargie. I still use the Tasker method at home though. And I don't know if still necessary but I always force closed Chargie after using to keep the battery liability low.
I'm interested to know how useful and battery minding you find your new Chargie.

No worries. I just wanted to know how it went and to read your comments. Totally voluntary on your part as far as sharing comments and when or if you respond.
Sorry for delays from Amazon. I've had a similar from a third party seller in New Jersey. Order was supposed to arrive just before the stay at home order went out- FedEx didn't pick my order up the day the seller said it had shipped. Still sitting there waiting for FedEx to pickup. Seller says FedEx told him they are doing their level best to complete shipments. I don't know about New Jersey but I see delivery trucks every day in my state.

I have been getting deliveries with no problem for the most part. At least once a week or more sometimes (My wife is furloughed and loves amazon) Im in new york and I do see FedEx and UPS all over. UPS had a problem last week that they are still trying to recover from. I dont know what it was but a bunch of stuff was delayed because of it.
Anyway I have spoken to the owner of chargie about a few things. He got back to me right away. The chargie is not compatible with the pixel stand in fact the pixel stand is not compatible with anything other than USB c to USB c. A USB A to USB C cable will not work on the pixel stand. And as it turns out that a good thing. The heat created by rapid charging is really not good for the battery. I now have my chargie plugged into a USB type A cube that charges at 1.5a The discharge is set at 3 and the charge is set to 80. So it discharges to 77 actually when it hits 76 is when the chargie turns on and turns off when it hits 81. The charging temp seems to stay around 90 F. Thats not bad the regular operating temp is around 85.So its really only going up 5-8 degrees when charging. I use accubattery for all my stats. My current screen on time is 12 hours and 30 minutes! Thats fantastic if you ask me. And currently my batteries health is being reported at 101% So almost no wear on it so far.
I want to thank you for pointing me in the right direction I never would have found this without your help. Its nice to see that there are still some good hearted people on XDA. I was around when it was still relatively new and everything I know about android I learned from the great devs and other enthusiasts. And I like sharing what I have learned and what setups work for me. I feel like I am giving back to the community so I will always share my feedback and what not.
101 % battery health is great. Doesn't appear the heat has effected your battery, not yet at least. I started limiting my charge to 80% capacity when I saw the health stat start dropping. I'm still at 95% battery health; if I recall correctly, I started limiting when health dropped to 97%. I did see 100% early when the phone was new.
Chargie was not reliable early. I also emailed the developer and he compelled me to join beta and send some logs. I let him know what I was expecting: not run continually and only connect when charging. I believe someone had said that Android can no longer uses USB plugging as a trigger? I don't know if he sorted that yet or not or just can't? But it appears in updates, he's made progress. I hope he does. I just keep the app updated and forced closed until needed again. Won't travel for some time now. But Accubattery alarm notification does well with my Fitbit Versa 2 to notify with a vibration on my wrist when wireless charging in the car reaches its set point.
Sometimes I forget and leave my phone plugged in. Tasker still has me covered if plugged in all night.
