I finished installing Darky's 10.1 Extreme Mod onto my Samsung Galaxy S the other day, and since then I have not had any connection to a 3G network.
I live in Australia and my phone carrier is Virgin Mobile running on the Optus Network. Before I flashed over from a Voodoo Lag Fixed stock 2.2, 3G worked fine.
I have checked in the wireless and networks setting to make sure the phone is set to "Use packet data" under mobile networks (Data roaming is turned off), but it makes no difference. I have also turned packet data off and on to make sure. Network Mode is set to GSM/WCDMA (auto mode). During setup for Darky's Rom, I left the Modem to defualt settings, JQ1 or something.
I'm not sure what I have broken but I'd love some help getting 3G back. It is very limiting to what a good smart phone can do.
Thanks

So far as I can tell from the About Phone settings page, it is just a plain GT-I9000 with a Baseband of I9000XXJVO. Though I can't remember what it said before the flash.

There is nothing in the APN Settings. Should there be names?
More Info
I looked up the APN settings for Virgin Mobile Australia and entered them into the phone but when I saved the new APN it didn't appear in the list. Just gone.
I inserted the SIM Card into an unmodified Samsung Galaxy TAB in which I have used this SIM card in the past. Still can't get 3G on the TAB, and there was no settings in the APN section. Could be a problem with the SIM card?
I also used a feature on virgin mobiles website to send the APN settings to the phone but they return an error when trying to send me the settings.
virginmobile com au/internet-on-your-mobile-phone/the-vibe/get-set-up
Oddly enough if I just enter in the name of the network and no other details, it does save the APN correctly and works fine again. Sweet
Thanks though all.

Just as I suspected. Those are the 3G settings for your network. If you used Titanium Backup those settings are under [SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage, just restore and reboot your phone and thats it.
Hello world,
I am having a problem with my beloved Galaxy Note;
Being a nerd, I flashed ICS to my phone and everything is working great, except for 3G/HSDPA... Or any mobile data connection for that matter.
I have tested with the ICS Repack, Imilka's ROM, that Stunner ROM and the "Italian Quality" one... I tried to flash different radios as well.
When I go to Settings -> About -> Status it says
"Mobile Network Type: HSDPA:9"
"Service State: In Service"
"Roaming: Not Roaming"
"Mobile Network State: Connecting"
I can call and send text messages.
I haven't seen anyone mention this problem before, so am I the only one with this problem? Am I missing something really obvious here?
even i had experienced the same, usually a reboot solves the issue.
I'm on Stunner 4.3
Thanks for the reply!
I have tried to reboot it several times. Right now I am also on Stunner 4.4.
Maybe I should add that I am in Britain and my provider is Giffgaff, which is using the O2 network.
Mobile data connections are working just fine with Gingerbread.
Any other ideas?
So do you even get the H or 3G symbol appear?
Idiot questions just in case, but you sound techy enough...
Text settings to 2020? else,
I assume you have the correct APNs for Giffgaff as per http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQDm09iOZmc
Thank you!
As you correctly suggested, wise sir, manually entering the APN information did the trick!
My problem was that I just chose the O2 one, as I did using Gingerbread (which strangely, when I think about it, worked).
Thanks again!
Hi,
I have just updated my Note from stock gingerbread to the official UK ICS 4.04 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 using Odin.
The phone is now running XXLRK (kernel and baseband) - it's not rooted at this time.
Everything is working fine except that I have no mobile data connection. Wifi and voice calling is fine though.
The Network Signal App shows that I have an HSDPA (7.2Mbit/s) net type but the data state is 'Disconnected'. I have confirmed that 'Use packet data' is on in the network settings and I have re-entered the (Vodafone Contract) APN settings several times.
I have put the SIM in a spare phone and data works as expected.
Any ideas?
Thanks

have you tried checking data usage under 'Settings'? , usually there's a capped set if your way over the pre-determine data cap on the phone. Try to raise the bar all the way up and see if you can gain data connection again.

I'm not sure if it helps at all(in relevance to the OP's issues), bear in mind apn settings are different in every carriers. Manually configuring doesnt' change anything at all... even worse, your just aggravating more his problem.

Thanks to both of you - the APN settings are confirmed as correct.
The data usage sits solidly at 0. I have disabled the cap, but even with it turned on and set at 5GB (my cap is 1GB but since we're only 7 days into the month there's no way I have exceeded it), it makes no difference.
I have confirmed with Vodafone that everything should work.
I have also tried a couple of previous radio images without success. At the moment I have just pulled the battery and I am waiting an hour or so before firing up the phone again.
If I can't fix this soon I might just revert back to stock Gingerbread, but I get the feeling the fix should be really simple.
FIXED!!
I added a new APN to the list and just duplicated the Vodafone Contract settings that I know work. This new APN setup was identical to the pre-defined one (which I had been editing) - but it works!!!.
Stick that one in the memory bank for possible future use!

Now that you fine folks got s-off working on version 4.4.2 for the HTC One, I was able to put Cyanogenmod on it today. Things seem to work okay, except for the one glaring issue: I can't use the phone to make or get calls. If I look at Settings->About Phone->Status, I get this:
Network - Verizon Wireless
Mobile network type - LTE
Service state - Voiceut of Service / Data: In Service
Roaming - Not roaming
Mobile network state - Disconnected
I suspect that I might have the wrong "Mobile networks" settings in the Settings->Wireless & Networks->More section. For the Preferred network type, I selected "GSM/WCDMA/LTE", but I've tried a few others with no positive effects. For System Select, I'm set to Home Only. If I try to search for available networks, it returns an error and doesn't find any.
Any ideas? Thanks!
I was reading more into this, and people on Sprint found this issue when using Cyanogenmod last summer. I don't know if a solution was found, but the workaround was switching the network type to CDMA only, and then switching "back." The "back" is the key for me (I hope). What should it be set to? I don't remember what it was before I started messing around. It may have been global, but I tried that to no avail. Does anyone have a minute to pop into their settings and check? Thanks!
Hello,
I recently updated my Z3 compact (D5803) to android 5.1.1. on the T-Mobile network here in NYC. Ever since then, I frequently lose the ability to do anything data-based with the phone. No web browing, no chatting on whatsapp. I can still make phone calls and send/receive SMS, however. The data functionality returns when on WiFi, but goes away once I switch back to LTE. In order for me to get data on LTE, I have to manually download the internet settings for my provider to my phone (this is located under the Settings menu in android). Even then, it only lasts for several minutes before the data connection is lost. T-Mobile was unable to fix the problem, and changing the SIM card didn't resolve the issue.
Anyone else experience this?
Yes, many others have the same problem, see various posts in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/discussion-5-1-1-stock-released-post-t3162309
Currently, the best workaround seems to be to disable and re-enable mobile data, or to go to airplane mode and back again. That solves the issue until you drop LTE connection the next time, then you will have to re-iterate.

Yes I am having the exact same problem since updating to 5.1.1. As the other reply says turning airplane mode off then on is the quickest way to get connectivity back (swipe down twice from the top for quick access). This is terribly frustrating though, it only lasts for a few minutes. I can't believe they pushed the update with this issue!

My phone had this issue after the over the air update. I reset the phone to factory, wiped all data. Two days on, now, and no more problems with this.
Same problem. I tried factory reset out of desperation, but it didn't work.
Love this phone, but very discouraged by this bug.
(I'm on t-mobile in Seattle, fwiw)

As posted in the other thread, there is now a fix/workaround:
From reddit user FishStik5: Going into the APN settings and changing the APN protocol to iPv4 only (it was iPv6 before) seems to fix the problem.
How to find the setting: Settings-> Wirelessa and Network / more -> Mobile networks -> APN -> T-mobile data -> APN protocol -> Set to IPv4.

Looks like this worked for me (T-mobile, San Francisco area). Thanks for posting this
i'm having the same problem and didn't work for my the ipv4. still loosing data, i have to reboot the phone
I have also problem with that (Orange, Poland). I sent my phone to official Sony service, they reload the software, but I still have that problem. Lte is working for a while and when my phone switches to wcdma (because it is not in a range of lte) it is not working either. However, when I change the preferred network from lte to wcdma it is working without any issues.
Same problem here although I'm on ipv4 [emoji34]

I thınk you shouldnt buy operator phones. Buy ınternatıonal models next tıme
Mine isn't an operator model, I'm using Straight Talk and also have the issue. It made my phone useless....I almost never have data
This worked for me
This worked on my Doogee Valencia2 Y100Pro
Install and Open app "Hidden Android Settings" (by 0Alex)
Select choose and open "RadioInfo"
Move to Last option "TOGGLE DNS CHECK"
mine read "0.0.0.0 not allowed"
press the "TOGGLE DNS CHECK" so that it displays "0.0.0.0 Allowed"
That's it - my mobile data worked, I hope it works for yo

this is a bug on 5.1.1 sony need to fix it
Any news with this issue?
No problem here with LTE on the CM 12.1 Cyanogenmod flavor of 5.1.1 on T-mobile (that I've noticed at least). But I think CM 12.1 may handle the APN settings differently (mine is set to T-Mobile LTE ipV4) from the stock ROM or it could be something Sony messed up from the AOSP code. I'm NOT suggesting anyone try a CM ROM as a solution as there are lots of downsides to unlocking your phone and flashing any non-stock ROM. But the problem does seem to be specific to the Sony ROM and not 5.1.1 in general.
I also have this problem after the update to 5.1.1 in the Netherlands. The first problem was that the update changed some mobile data settings, so I downloaded the settings from my provider. Unfortunately those settings were also incorrect as I had to manually remove the APN's Proxy and Port (they were set, be needed to be 'not set'/empty). This improved the connection a bit, but it still looses the mobile data at certain places (where the coverage is good). Did a factory reset as the Sony helpdesk suggested. For a few days this seemed to help, but again the same issue came up. The suggested solution mentioned in this thread did not work as those settings are already applied.
I have a profider (Telfort) which uses another provider's network (KPN's). So after the update I also see a annoying R in the signal icon, where in the previous version it always showed H+, H, 3G.
Does anyone know if this is resolved in the new update?
After the last update and a new reconfiguracion on the APN now work correct for me.

And which version are you on? 23.4.A.1.200 or 23.4.A.1.232?
