Alpha tester here! Wanted to spread the word now that we were out of stealth phase!
Nextbit Baton offers several benefits to users, including:
Sync: Keeps apps and data in sync across multiple devices, allowing users to move fluidly from one device to the next without missing a beat.
Pass: Send any open app in its current state to another device, saving time and eliminating the tedious process of manually finding and opening apps on different devices.
Backup and restore: Save apps and data to your Nextbit profile in the cloud, so you can always get your apps back on any device.
Nextbit’s private beta is exclusively on CyanogenMod, the leading open-source, community-driven Android OS backed by Cyanogen Inc. The future public release of Nextbit will be available first on the commercially distributed Cyanogen operating system.
“Cyanogen continues to reimagine Android by introducing bold new firsts,” said Kirt McMaster, CEO of Cyanogen. “Nextbit represents one of these platform firsts that could only manifest on a truly open Android. We enable Baton to become a native OS level feature, creating huge benefit for our users.”

So as of right now this is CM-only, correct, not a free-standing app? Looks cool, I like the idea of having a 'cloud' backup of apps and not having to take up space on my phone.
Could be very popular.... If it wasn't limited to CM. Just a suggestion. ?
Many senior members seem to stay away from CM. ?
This is a nexus forum after all. Not to say we're AOSP fanboys or anything, but most of us are AOSP fanboys.
I am really like the concept. :good:
I'm another one who will pass (no pun intended) as long as it's CM only. Never had anything but issues with CM.

That's because like PA they always push out "milestones" which are betas. Hardly ever a real stable release. But that's just my opinion.
It works pretty well. Amazing concept that was executed fine.

That's not how it works.... It lets you, say you were playing a game, you paused in the middle of the race, and sent it to your tablet, it would pick up at that exact point, still paused even, you have to have the app on both devices, it takes the data and the apps current state, sends it to the clout and to your other device verrry quickly and easily too (source: i was in alpha)
How does it handle resources on the SD card? For example, a game that has a 1GB download of additional resources that get stored on your Data partition in some folder?

Hey guys, as some of you may know, i've been working for a while now on my app, My Workout.
Here is the description of My Workout:
"My Workout allows you to save your workout routines to an easy to access, easy to read schedule. My workout also has a stopwatch included for rest time between sets and a 1 rep max calculator. Important tools for the gym!

I've been a busy coder on this one.
Recently i've added the following features:
Ability to import exercises from previously entered routines
and just now The Ability to share your workout (export) via email!
Currently the app in the market is version 1.5.0.0 and works really well, it however doesn't have the last two additions.
Build 1.7.00 will include both of these. I am currently waiting for build 1.6.00 to be approved (that includes the import exercises from previous exercise) feature and unfortunately for the testers will be immediately submitting 1.7.00 for approval.
The app is free, check it out and give a review.
Here are some videos of some of the older builds:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVoqy0xYmNg (that is build 1.3)
Thanks,
microhaxo
Update added to market!

- free as always.
Beautiful!
Would have liked to see an option for using metric units as well (Kg vs LBS). I'm living in Europe where we use the (logical) SI-system.
Good work!
Thanks for the comment! I'll add the option for metric units in the next update.
updated to support KG. Also allow for a total reset of saved routines.
Thanks for sharing!

Welcome, i'm glad i could help out a fellow gym member.
Ok guys, this is getting a little frustrating..
I need people to try my app out and give me some feedback.
This is the most recent feedback:
Godless Biker:
"Feels like a placeholder for an app that actually does something"
I am not sure how to even take that...
When i read something like that this is what goes through my mind (biased of course since i wrote the app)
1. Did they even read the description????
2. Did they even attempt to use the app???
3. Do they even know how windows phone 7 ui works?
4. Im surprised they were able to rate the app seeing as though they weren't competent enough to use it. (sorry, anger..)
It's frustrating that i am unable to know why they think that way.
So i am asking you guys. Please if you workout at the gym please give the app a try and give me some feedback. Comments like Godless Biker's are completely useless and quite frankly id be surprised if he really actually used the app......
If you want to just try it out and give me feedback please do:

thx for sharing
Thanks. It's really help me in training.
Possible Suggestion: With exporting the workouts, is it possible to save to SkyDrive? They have some new APIs, so it would be nice if the files can be saved and retrieved from Skydrive account.
Wow, im surprised this is still getting interest. Unfortunately i abandoned this project a while ago due to poor code design by me. ( learned much since then ) I no longer have the source code but if the interest is there i could possibly re-write this app with some mango features and possibly skydrive support. I wrote this app to help me with my workouts at the gym, but i have frequently found my self simply using word / excel to track my workouts.

Cool! I would love to have that ability since the screen is big enough for multiple apps
This looks very very promising! I love the multi app layout. I hope this comes to the light of day soon!
Like how they call the OS on the Xoom Gingerbread lol. But yeah this looks promising.
http://www.onskreen.com/index.php is the official site for this. At the bottom there is a sign up option to get notified when updates for the product is released such as beta release.
i can see this as being an integral part of the next upcoming android tablets once tgw newness of honeycomb has worn off. The only problem that I can forsee is the need for better processors beyond a dual ccore 1ghz. The heat and battery drain would have to be addressed as well. But all in all, something to look forqard to

I'd kill to be able to just display 2-3 different apps like the above video even if they were just suspended. In fact that might be another option they could implement to save battery life. It would just make switching between certain tasks easier. I'm still trying to find just what my tablet's niche is in my world...this might actually make it replace my laptop for some work related tasks.
any new info on beta or release date?

Here is what I got back from Onskreen ... I asked them about release date and possible beta testing.
Hi Brian,
Thanks for reaching out to us and for your patience. It is indeed Q3, and we are working as fast as we can with the OEM's interested in including Cornerstone with their devices. It's consuming all of our engineering resources to work with them. That is a good thing and a bad thing. The bad because we can't yet support a user beta.
Regarding Honeycomb, we would not legally be allowed to release a Honeycomb beta with Cornerstone. Since the honeycomb source code is closed and owned by Google, for us to include Cornerstone with it and release it to users would be a violation. Any public beta we do would have to be on Gingerbread.
We're paying attention and know you've been reaching out since the start. We definitely have you on the list, and are doing the best we can.
Thanks!
Onskreen Team

Makes sense now the gingerbread references, clearly this requires modifications to the OS and isn't just a launcher, hence them being unable to go directly to users and being unable to release a honeycomb version.

So much has changed here is the main menu
And when you create you're character you're given a nice description now too and older players will appreciate that you can name your character from the start.
Last is a screenshot of the new UI. I threw in the joystick because I like it but it isn't there by default.

Alot apparently I haven't played this one too much.
I like it so far, more refined then the first one. My biggest b!tch with it though is if your Xoom is wiped you lose all progress, with a game like this you think they would have some kind of cloud storage, also since you can buy in game points with real money, feels like a waste to invest so much time and have a woopsy moment and not be able to recover anything.
I love the online play with this though, seems a lot better than First Wave.

Hey ladies and gentlement!
As I'm already recognized a high resonance via G+, I thought I'll start a OT-Thread here related to the topic
- Free Cloud Storage -
As for sure a lot of ppl has another priority and subjectiv opinion on different cloud services,
but I think we all are fair and reational enough to share our meanings without treating other meaning or ppl here.
So I'll start with my own experience and opinion:
In my opinion the realtiv new cloud storage of 'Copy' is one of the best cloud storage service,
which offers a really great android app, too.
The app also was re-designed some weeks ago and it's quiet intuitive and more looking good.
I'm personally also a Google fan and so for sure using G-Drive, too, but anyway for general daily cloud handling I use this at all.
'Copy' also let u create a synchronisation folder which gives the opportunity to share and edit things in a kind of group.
So I personally learned to use this in my job when working on a project, so that other project-partners could see when I put in new files
and themselves could view & edit them if they want. Also they could just put in their own files, so that I can see it.
Over this you can give different rights, for what anyone can to in this folder.
(I think that's enough explained for synchronisation folders)
Let's go ahead to the most sensitive point in nowadays "Security".
So to let's say first, that there is no 100% safe cloud service and surly will never be!
So we all have to trust the service and can orientate here on the security standards they offer.
'Copy' that for uses a part for the connection and one for the encryption of data to/on their servers.
The connection is here saved by the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) standard
and the data encryption by the AES256 (Advanced Encryption Standard)
Even their are other possibilities and the SSL could be the updated TLS standard, this is one of the highest "daily" protection standard.
[I don't want to get off from topic here, so let's say that there are more higher security standard, but u have to think in relative terms here!]
In the app u also have the opportunity to set a PIN, to secure the entry in app, even the phone won't have one.
At this point I hope I don't forget any important points, otherwise just ask and let me know...
Again this is for sure a objective view on things, so please let me know what u guys think and share your meanings and recommandation of cloud storage services.
CHEERS

With the link below u get 20GB [5GB to the 15GB] free storage on 'Copy', because I invited you.
So if u want to test it or saying "yes this listen like what I searched for", just register via it,
than 5GB more, are better than not or?

PS: Yes I also get 5GB free if u use this link, but anyway this shouldn't be a big advertisement, just a recommendation.

So sorry to know about your issue, and thanks for sharing your story that sure will help other Devs.

In the meantime, if anyone has any further questions I will be happy to answer.
Have you considered switching to iOS store ?
That might be an option, it won't be easy at this stage of my life, but it's an option.
At the time when I started, I was not smart enough to consider this and I did the mistake to put all my eggs in one basket.
Now it's tough, with more than a decade of experience on Android.
Android development is what put the food on the table, and I have a mortgage to pay and a family to support.

Frankly, Google has been doing since 2011.
Better Keyboard disappeared?
Is it just me or has better keyboard disappeared off the market? I had to reflash generic UK and root/go back up to 2.3.3, but when I restored with Titanium Backup, I got the unlocker for Better Keyboard but not the app itself. Now I'm stuck in...
forum.xda-developers.com
IIRC The reason was even pettier than yours.
Bye Bye Better Keyboard 8, Open Home, and anything by Better Android
So, I was looking in the market for better keyboard 8 and couldn't find it. From there, I did a google search and came across their website with this as their top news. here is the link, and I will quote it as well. Better Android Apps Hello everyone, we have to say good-bye this time. Here’s...
www.droidforums.net
It was definitely a red flag for me.
In 2011 the paid apps are what made revenue for the Android Market. The Ad penetration was very low and users were limited.
Another example is ofc YongZh
So Why Were the Yongzh’s Emulators Pulled?
There was much sadness when Android developer, yongzh, had his Market account deleted and line of popular game emulators pulled from the market. Many people were troubled by this news, seeing it as…
androidcommunity.com
Google made a lot of money & goodwill via emulators in the initial days and then they booted out yonghz out .
Now the developers don't have any idea who paid for the apps and who didn't. And basically, the consumers are screwed and developers are harassed.
Also, Google changes its Developer license agreement 3-4 times a year. At any moment any apps can be booted out.
Make no mistake iOS can do the same. But at the very least you can speak to a human who can sort out your affairs. And that 99$ a year is totally worth it.
iOS experience is far more fluid then say 2015 (Been developing for both android and iOS)
Long term it's really wise to move away from Android to say Web or Server Administration.
True
