I can't afford to pay $100 a month to Sprint so I want to know if there any options out there to unlock the phone or flash it over to another carrier. I don't know anything about this stuff and would really appreciate some answers.
Then why did you buy it? You know what's going to be much less affordable than your $100 per month? Your increased interest rates on anything you finance in the future since you jacked up your credit.

Now, there's no need to start lecturing. Sure, ideally OP wouldn't be in this situation, but things happen (job loss, medical, personal), so let's just see if we can be more helpful.
OP, generally Sprint phones are difficult to move. There are people that go to janky 3rd party carriers, but this is annoying and difficult. No matter what, you'll have to end up paying the ETF with Sprint to get out of that contract. Otherwise, you'll have a mark on your credit (which is not worth the $2-300).
You could think about going with Ting. They have a BYOD program, but none of the new phones are in the program. Perhaps in a year it will be available.
Lastly, $100/mo. seems high for Sprint service. Are you sure you looked at all the plans and your options? I, personally, am in a family plan with some family members, and it ends up being about $55/user, subsidized.

If he's doing just a straight individual plan, this could be around the price after TEP and taxes and such.

Here is the answer to your question.
guide how to flash to htc one (M7) to cricket or other carrier
Sprint phones are easily flashed to cricket and even when your bill or contract is burnt and sprint flags your esn unusable.
Is there a video or tutorial on how to flash the phone over?
If you want to use a GSM carrier, I wrote a simple app that will SIM unlock your phone...

For those of you planning to get the device with 32GB on Sprint, you are out of luck
I called Sprint to pre-order and they only have 16GB. The rep does not know if Sprint will carry the 32GB

I did order from the play store.
The reason I called Sprint for pre-order is that my line is eligible for update and I want to take advantage of the savings by renewing my contract.
If Google makes the 64GB available, I will go for it

If you order through sprint at the discounted and subsidized price, will the phone be locked into sprints network? If so, will sprint allow unlocking at the end of the contract?

Just get it on Google Play. It's cheaper there anyway. Why would you pay a contract fee when it's cheaper to go off-contract and get sim-only contract?

If it's the same as when i needed a SIM for an iPhone 5 a while ago, walk into a store and ask for a SIM. They wanted to charge me $50 for a SIM. I pulled the saddest sob story ever and the manager felt sorry and gave me one for free since it was my "first" time.
I used my dads upgrade! I get a 16 GB one for about $86. $50 rebate and selling my Glxy 3 for $80.

Does anyone know if the Nexus 5 that Sprint will be selling is unlocked?
I had a plan to buy it from Sprint, pay it off and then cancel my service with Sprint. (Don't ask why)
So I need to know if I can just take it and get it activated at T-Mobile after I cancel Sprint.
I'm definitely going to try and activate this sooner. My phone arrives today. Will check Sprint stores and Best Buy for the sim.

They're selling the same model as the one on the playstore, which is unlocked.

If you didn't buy it in the initial hour of release the play store is backed up for weeks (mine arrives today, but alas, I will not be home until Wed...
I'm assuming the sprint pre-orders won't ship until the 8th? May be quicker for you to just snag one at the sprint store..

It sucks that they want to charge for a SIM. Maybe I can weasel out of it since my original plan was to just pay the $100 ETF and switch it to T-Mo prepaid. If it gets them more money, maybe they'll give me a SIM so I stick around for another few months out of laziness.
Basically I figured $100 to switch to TMo early was worth it since I'll be paying $30/mo instead of $80 and my contract has 4 months left on it. But if I can get the SIM for free and easily switch to TMo after the contract ends, I may just stick around for now.
The only thing that sucks is that 11/8 date. I could go to Walmart and get a TMo SIM tomorrow once my phone gets here but if I stay with Sprint a little longer, I'll only be able to play with it on WiFi until Friday.
Hmmm.....
OK I know that ALL the nexus 5 sold at T-Mobile, Sprint, best buy, etc are the SAME as Google play store.
I was in Houston to visit family yesterday, and sold my moto g, and moto x(att model) to my family friend and then figured "ya I could order the nexus on Google but since selling the moto's I would just be paying the tax for the 5!"
So I go to best buy, not in stock, then go to T-Mobile store....NEVER again!(only because their like 390 full price!)
First the guy said he couldn't sell me it cause it won't work on anything other than T-Mobile....... So I told him that I know it will work or I wouldn't be asking you to buy it.... Then the store demo I put my Sim in it and BAM! Getting LTE on straight talk att Sim! Then I show him and then he said the demo model works cause it one straight from the Google play store! LMAO WHAT!
So I leave go down the street to another T-Mobile store same story!
Then I finally went to a sprint store...
The guy was basically acting like I was stupid and he bet me it wouldn't work....so he sell me the phone (399) I put my Sim in the phone and by this time he called everybody else in the store to see if it was going to work! The of course it works, and he was like we'll it probably because it not activated on our network. Then he went on saying I couldn't sell that to anybody on sprint cause the phone will be blacklisted.......OR I said "it could be idk IT'S THE SAME PHONE THAT GOOGLE SELLS ON THE PLAY STORE!" and walk out
So I guess next time people just order from the play store unless your only going to pay tax for a brand new phone lol!

What? Out of all service companies, I can't believe T-Mobile would say that! That's crazy.
They probably don't want to sell their N5' s cause they know they're sold out on Google store and they want customers who buy the N5 to stay in their company. That's why whenever I go to my company (T-Mobile) I end up arguing with them, they seem to not have a lot of knowledge when it comes to Google phones.

Too many CSR are just dumb. But this is quite the funny story. Should've took that guy on the bet at the sprint store, I would've walked out with a free N5 I'll tell you what. And how slow was the store business wise for all them to huddle round you? They seriously had nothing else better to do?
Well the sprint store wasn't really busy at all. Had one customer leaving as I was walking in. But the T-Mobile store was actually quite busy which I was surprised bout. Tmobile works great in Houston and Dallas. But where I live their not even a store that's how bad it is!

actually you can activate a n5 bought through tmo on sprint. all you need to do is have sprint manually enter the info they need and device id.
Wow. Sorry to hear about that. I got extremely lucky buying mine at Best Buy. They sold me their last one, and price matched the Play Store for me. No questions asked at all. I'm pretty sure Best Buys aren't selling the N5 anymore though. The demo they had on the Google endcap has been removed and replaced with a N7. I've been in 5 different stores, and all of them have been removed.

No thanks. Sprint's LTE network is an absolute mess in my area, good signals usually but the 1,500+ms pings and 0.05 megabit downloads are painful. I do the AIO thing.
At least T-mobile let you purchase it. When it first came to Sprint, they would only sell it on contract. (Corporate store around me)

I've anxiously awaiting the nexus 6 on verizon. I'm a little worried, as I have contacted Verizon twice and they have no record of them opening up the pre orders tomorrow. For my company I am the VZW authorizer for our account and business\enterprise support have not been able to tell me if can pre-order until last night. My rep emailed me saying that Friday I can pre-order...
There are so many answer out there who knows... I sent my new unopened box of the Samsung Note 4 back to their return center in TX yesterday so I am hoping that they have it all processed and in the system so I can get that line to show the upgrade again for the re-order...otherwise I have to wait next week.
Never had a Nexus look forward to it really enjoyed the Note line but if they will not get anymore root (maybe late) no roms no sell for me...at least my Note 3 has SS installed for the custom rom.

So I bought the S6 Edge for Verizon at best buy on launch day.. Because I was doing the Verizon edge I also purchased the warranty through best buy...
I'm now switching to T-Mobile and I'm purchasing the regular S6, however, I'm getting it through T-Mobile. I'm not sure if it's possible, and I don't think it is since I'm purchasing the phone directly through T-Mobile, but wanting to know if my best buy warranty would transfer to the new phone..
