force ipv4 - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
a week ago i posted here having problems with push messages in standby modus on wifi.
After spending a lot of time fixing the problem i found out that it is caused by ipv6.
I asked my provider to disable ipv6 and now the problem is gone. But they told me that its only possible to deactivete ipv6 temporarily. Its there a way or an app to force my z3c to obtain an ipv4?
Thanks

I would like to disable ipv6 support over 3G too, but actually I can't. Doing 'echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6' makes my connection not working although the H+ mark is still there. Is there any way to disable IPv6 over GSM?

APN can be changed, but you have to find correct settings of your provider.
I had issue with VPN connection caused by ipv6 by my mobile provider - solution for this is to force ipv4.

If I set IPv4 in my APN my connection dies, how else can I force IPv4?

Usually apn for ipv4 has different name than ipv6.
Example Orange in Poland ipv6 APN name was: "internetipv6"
ipv4 APN name is: "internet"

I'm using Orange-Poland, my APNs: internetipv6 (selected as default) and euinternet - how can I force the change between APNs?

Just edit name of default apn (delete ipv6 at the end).
If you tap of that APN you can change all settings.
Edit:
When you tap on default apn scroll down and switch ipv6 to ipv4 protocol

If I change APN protocol from IPv6 to IPv4 in orangeipv6 my connection dies. The second problem is I cannot change to default APN, next internetipv6 is orange dot, if I click on other APN it gets me to its settings - I have no idea how can I change default APN.

Click on name of that apn after you get into it and simply delete ipv6 from it's name.
PS. i Wrote you private message.

Got it, now it works as I want.

[Q] Why can't I save APN with MCC other than 262

Hi folks,
I'm running 2.24.161.1 (4.2.2) with vodafone branding.
My One cannot get APN settings from the provider, it never could, so I manually configured the APN for my default network, which works.
I was in Spain recently and I wanted to roam a little, but as my mobile cannot get the settings from the provider I tried to manually configure the APN again, this is where I ran into my problem.
I can create a new APN, I can change all settings as I need them and I can save it and activate it. However this only works as long as the MCC is set to 262. When I tried to configure MOVISTAR APN with MCC 214 and tried to save it the APN was just gone.
I don't get any errors or whatsoever. I can modify the APN and save all changes as often as I want, but trying to save an APN with MCC not set to 262 results in the APNs disappearance, its simply gone from the list. This also happens when I modify an exisiting APNs MCC value and save it - the APN will be gone from the list and I have to recreate it.
Is it likely to be a problem with the branded software version? I like the One as it is otherwise, I see no reason to unlock, root, flash other stock and thereby loose all my settings and reconfigure the phone again, but if that would solve the problem with foreign APNs I guess that is what I will do.
Anyone know what is causing this problem and how to solve it?

Thanks for the info. I entered these settings, rebooted and still extreme buffering times on youtube with excellent signal. any download more than 80-100megs slows to a crawl and forget about watching any youtube video without buffering for 2-3 minutes at a time.
doesn't fix what this thread describes: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2525128
No worries. Mine was for a different issue. I woke up this morning to LTE connection problems galore. Speed tests would run on full bars of LTE and reach download speed of 0.02 mbps then have network communication errors and bomb out. Buddy on his Nexus 4 was also having the same issue.
Without setting APN Type your settings aren't gonna work. It will default to the original APN settings dictated by your SIM.
So those APN settings aren't correct. Just saying.
Mine looks nothing like that at all

I wonder why they changed you from IPV6 to IPV4?
Oh and I almost always have LTE

Thanks for the heads up. What should be in the APN Type? I was just sharing info that I got today to get my LTE connection back to usable.

All you need is default,supl,mms
Admin, hipri, dun don't do anything on T-Mobile and will completely void your configuration falling back to default.
Make sure that:
Name: whatever you want
APN = fast.t-mobile.com
MMSC you have there is correct
APN Type: default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: IPv6
That's all you would need. Leave everything else as is.
...
ok, I did some testing.
· Switched back to the original TMO APN for fast.t-mobile.com and LTE data connection §hit the bed.
· Created a new APN identical to the original and it works fine.
· Deleted original APN for LTE
I'm guessing there was something in my original APN entry that my phone didn't like. Manually recreating it seems to have fixed it. Edited my original post and title to reflect the configuration I was given from TMO as an alternate.
Thanks for the info guys!

That was my curiosity. My guess is they are having difficulties with their 464XLAT service, which allows IPv4 connectivity in an IPv6-only network. By default, Nexus 5 devices in TMO only obtain an IPv6 address and use the CLAT daemon (process clatd) to provide IPv4 connectivity.
It's very transparent when working, but does introduce the dependency of their 464XLAT infrastructure. The only thing I've found it to completely break is IPSEC VPN -- IPSEC negotiation fails when running through 464XLAT, however succeeds if I change the APN type to pull an IPv4 address. This led me to another interesting conclusion: The Android build of racoon ipsec-tools included in KitKat (used to set up the IPSEC connection from the client side) does not support V6. When provided with a V6 IPSEC server by IP address, it thinks it's a hostname and fails with a DNS resolution failure trying to look up the DNS A record of the IPV6 IP address. When provided a DNS hostname with an A (IPv4) and AAAA (IPv6) record, it only looks up and attempts to connect to the A (IPv4) record address. When provided a DNS hostname with only an AAAA (IPv6) record, it fails with a DNS resolution failure as it only requests the A record. So much for connecting to my IPSEC server over native IPv6 from KitKat.. for now.
For Now I'm selecting IPv4/IPv6 for APN protocol, which pulls both an IPv4 and IPv6 address, and IPSEC is happy.
I'm still puzzled why would they ask you to use proxy in your APN...

Droid 4 LTE APN settings

I was messing around trying to get LTE to work again and I am hoping it is simply an APN fix. Can someone give me the correct APN settings for Verizon?

stock jellybean?
think it's unlikely an apn issue
my full apn file made with APN Backup & Restore
apn app needs to be moved to /system/pri-app if you want to restore my apns-20140822120801.xml (remove .txt from file name)
from Slim 4.4 build 7.0
Just restored your apns but it only picks up 3G
open dialer
dial
Code:
*#*#4636#*#*
(when you press the last *, testing menu will open)
select phone information
scroll down to
set prefered network type
is LTE/CDMA/EvDo selected?
Just checked and LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) was what it was on. LTE/CDMA auto (PRL) is the closest.
It seems that every time the APN will reset to EHRPD - Verizon Internet. If I try to select the LTE internet option it doesn't even pick up a data signal, and then goes back to EHRPD.
im using CM11 M9 and i have my network type set to
CDMA+LTE/EvDo
my APN is
LTE - Verizon Internet
Name: LTE - Verizon internet
APN: VZWINTERNET
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
username: not set
password: not set
server: not set
MMSC: not set
MMS proxy: not set

APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN enable/disable: enabled (greyed out with box checked)
Bearer: LTE
MVNO type: none
MVNO value: not set
a few notes for me: whenever i try to switch to CDMA/EvDo auto (3g) it doesnt connect to data until i turn on wifi or set airplane mode for at least 30 minutes then re-enable the radio. if the connection drops for whatever reason i have to redo this step so im better off leaving LTE on all the time because its way more reliable than 3g which is really weird in my opinion and im not sure if its the rom that causes the problem since i installed cm11 as soon as i got this phone
So should I try to set that APN and then put it in airplane mode for an hour or so?

Data stops working after system update, APN seems fine

Problem rectified. Mods, feel free to delete post.
Hi all,
We've had some data/mms/APN issues about a month ago on my gal's Note 3 with AT&T; it did a system update and all of sudden stopped working with mobile data. Turns out it reset the APN, so she stopped in AT&T, they changed some APN settings and data was back up and running. MMS was still having issues though, until I noticed that part was missing in the APN type settings. I added it and all was fine for awhile.
This morning, her phone updated and now there's no mobile data again. I haven't gotten hands on with the phone yet, but I thought maybe it wiped her fixed APN entry. She's checked the APN settings and they match what's on AT&T's support page (copied below for reference).
The only abnormality in the situation is that her service plan still has "iphone" data. She had an iPhone previously, I got her a Galaxy S4 off contract and we just swapped the SIM into the Galaxy; I then did the same, getting her a Note 3 and we just swapped the SIM again (I do some research work with phone companies, extra phones can be a perk!). She'd get occasional text messages from AT&T saying she needed to switch her data plan, but we ignored them in fear that doing so would lose her grandfathered unlimited data. Those texts stopped months ago and everything's been working fine the entire time so I didn't think that's an issue, but wanted to add it here just in case.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Nexus 6 on Visible Wireless (Verizon Network), Inetnet working, no calls msg yet.

Hi Can anyone give some tips getting the nexus 6 working on Visible Wireless. It supports Volt and Verizon and wifi calling. I have gotten internet working. My phone is a stock verizon release unrooted. I have add the other APNs with an app because verizon locked the add and edit of some of the APN data. I cant believe you guys filter the vtext.com URL for users posting apns.
Here are the APNs I know of for visible in case someone had corrections.

Maybe the hidden menu can tell you something: *#*#4636#*#*
VoLTE and WiFi-calling require some hidden settings that are not supposed to be changed by the user.
Here is a thread about changing them on OnePlus, but I don't think you can do it on a Nexus: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...volte-vowifi-german-carriers-t3817542/page141
Also, some phone companies check the phone model, and only enable it on the models they support. Maybe customer support can unblock for you.
Volte is on in that menu and works on regular verizon fine. Also I have tried LTE only mode since visible is supposedly only 4G. If anyone has gotten more than data working with Visible Wireless on the NEXUS 6 please let me know. I did have flash in and out of airplane mode after the reboot to get data to work. Thanks for reading my post and replying. I will look into the 801 code more. Also the http vtext.com servlests mms is missing on two of the APNs from my original post due to the forum restrictions for new posters so sorry that piece is missnig for anyone testing.

I can't enter more than one APN on my Nexus 6. With VSBLINTERNET APN, I can only use data. *#*#4636#*#* reports "emergency calls only." Has anyone been able to somehow force multiple APNs? Anyone able to get network calls to work?

I've tried very hard, including on multiple ROMs including stock without success. On the stock ROM I was able to add the VSBLINTERNET APN manually and use data, but never calls. If desperate you could always get a VoIP provider (Google Voice didn't seem to work for some reason.)
