its difficult for me to download the firmware of 1gb... Fr every device.... Its easier if the users give me only what I need from the firmware.... Which won't be more than 15mb .. so please co-operate ..

rutvikrvr made a great job for free, so don't be lazy and give him the needed files if you want a Custom Recovery for your S5 5 Mini.
Hello rutvikrvr.
It would be great if you could provide a flashable zip from recovery. :good:
rutvikrvr said:
yes .. with the next update i will provide a flashable zip too ... so you dont need odin to flash if you are on twrp
Im planning to make this official soon .. so you can access it through the twrp manager from play store

Sorry, I've now read.
Flashable Zip are better for the future. Is faster than using Odin. :good:
You have in your Downloads also Phiz Touch for the S5 mini.

Actually there's a graphical glitch.... And anyway philz is no longer maintaining the recovery
Nevertheless I will try to fix it.... This weekend
The github source for the kminilte recovery image seems to be from two months ago. I'd be interested in the source but I know that the one from October has some issues... would you mind updating it to the latest version?

Try this procedure ... First flash the cf auto root file for your device .. Reboot and you should get root access .. After that flash this recovery
I deeply request to you please send link to solve this problem. I think understand the my problem.
I've searched far and wide and can't find the info I'm after.
How can I find out if my bootloader is locked or not?
And can this method be applied to a locked bootloader or will it result in a brick?
How does the auto CF root method fare with locked bootloaders?
Does anyone know of a clean firmware that doesn't have any carrier applications and bloat, which can be put on the phone via Odin?
Does unlock via IMEI unlock the bootloader?
Thanks for any help

There's a difference between a locked bootloader and a region lock... A region lock will prompt you for a pin if the sim is changed .... And a locked bootloader means that you can't flash a recovery or ROM without unlocking it
This phone doesn't have a locked bootloader. ..

Your recovery is not designed to work with TX (maybe ported from T but the maker forgot to change the device model)
Try flashing kernel in the thread first and then install ROM. Finally fiash the kernel again.

If you flash the kernel and the boot.img its work! Flash with the command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot kernel.elf
fastboot flash boot boot.img
I've tried with the instruction on the principal post but It doesn't work, if you do as I say it will work.
Here it is. I am only posting this temp until it is officially supported and Dees_Troy makes his own post.

A big shoutout to @beaups for the assistance in getting a hacked together recovery booting so we could dump stock images.
This will work all on variants except the 64-bit version. I am currently working on getting 64-bit brought up.

Can help with 64-bit
I live in Australia and am about to purchase this phone which means that it has the Snapdragon 410 built in. From what I have seen, that is what dictates that it is 64-bit, correct? If that is the case I will be able to provide pulled recoveries and whatever else the developers require if they include some basic instructions (I know my way around ADB, android SDK, etc.)

Great work as usual @jmz you did a great job on this one. glad it was twrp i prefer it over CWM, do you have a device tree available? i'm planning on starting work on the cricket variant for CM and AOKP soon as they release the kernel source........ Yeah its on my github. But its not really useful for anything. The kernel is modded to boot recovery. attempting to use it as anything else will cause problems. The current A11_CHL is wrong. So I couldn't even compile a kernel for CDMA folks.
The kernel source for the CDMA variant should be out, i think its under WWE on the htcdev site. i contacted HTC about releasing the kernel source for the Cricket variant. They are going to escalate it to the dev department. Hoping we have source code soon.

Yes its posted but the kernel source itself is wrong. It is missing everything for CDMA. All A11_CHL kernel source will be the same. You don't have to wait for cricket specific.

Let me know if you need help with anything, most of my experience with android is smali and kernel related, although i have built custom roms from AOKP and CM
I was able to unlock my bootloader, and subsequently flash the recovery and root my phone! This is AWESOME! My cousin brought over his laptop for Thanksgiving. So, thank you, jmz, and CurbThePain, for constructing the recovery and leaving off instructions for everything.
It's a lil suckish that I'm unable to go full blown crazy and debloat everything, or install Viper4Android FX, but it is still leagues better to have this rooted. Thank you guys!

Make sure you already unlocked your bootloader, extract the boot.img , put it in firmware folder in flashtool, and flash it, or you can extract the boot.img in your SD card, install recovery tool app and flash it using this app (select flash kernel and choose boot.img)

Hi guys, first time poster here, I was on this thread
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/development/dev-pre-root-firmware-twrp-testing-t3183877
and it said on it that the model SM-N920W8 was supported for the spaceX kernel.
Once I clicked on this link
Code:
http://samfirm.net/post/129813196562/spacex-kernel-note5-s6e-plus
I dont see the SM-N920W8 model in the list of Supported devices status, unless he forgot to put it I don't see it and I doubt its the SM-N9208 cuz this one is a dual I think.
So did someone actually use it for SM-N920W8 and it worked with no issues? Mine is the rogers version in Canada.
thnx

Hi and welcome,
If you follow the download link for "all N920", pretty sure that's the file you need:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=39339
SpaceX-Kernel-v0.1_N920W8(official).tar.md5 ; should be flashed with Odin.
Also, remember that this root method will trip the Knox flag permanently (Void warranty).
EDIT: I actually did not tested it. Someone else could confirm, although I feel quite confident.
While I can verify the above kernel works on my W8 (Rogers), I cannot seem to shake the issue of random reboots.. At least once a day the phone will reboot on its own, and almost every phone call, the phone will reboot a couple of minutes in.
I love having a rooted device but the compromise of stability is making me consider going back to factory stock... Using the 0.1, 0.2, and noble kernels have all yielded the same symptoms. Anyone have a suggestion?

I love having a rooted device but the compromise of stability is making me consider going back to factory stock... Using the 0.1, 0.2, and noble kernels have all yielded the same symptoms. Anyone have a suggestion?

Well thnx for the heads-up... I thought that the spaceX was supposed to fix the random reboots..guess not. I will be waiting then for a stable Kernel.
@Manh_IT did release a fix for Canadian Samsung Galaxy Note 5 SM- N920W8 I just rooted and even installed CWM not one issue here
The random reboot fix is an image file 920T/W8 released October 09, 2015
Dl boot.img and flash it via CWM or TWRP
Hello where did you get the kernel to root the note 5 canadian version or how do you do it thank you
I've been told my SkyHigh SM-N920T kernel works with SM-N920W8. You can find it on the T-Mobile Note 5 original android development forum.
Please give us a link of those files!
Hi there, since you have no random reboot issue at all can you please give us the link of the files. And, that would be great if you could guide us the step by step procedure. Thanks in advance

Seriously? I learned reading and not asking step by step instructions. Come on man. Do some research.
Alright no instructions needed. Like others I have tried all the kernels for note 5 and found random reboot issues. You are saying you have no issue with that whatsoever. That's why can you please give me the link of those files?

I don't know what version you have, I got the N920W8... Here is what I did, hope that helps.
*NOTE* N920TW8 is the N920W8 version combined with N920T version. They are basically identical. Just in case you were wondering where the N920W8 is since you will only find N920TW8 in the list, go here
Code:

Read about it a bit then go here

grab that file above and flash it with philZ recovery (that's what I did)
you can grab philZ from the same link of the kernel, either the MD5 if you are using odin or the zip if you will flash.
and that's it! I had no issues on my phone at all, I installed WANAM's xposed and all is good.
Thanks for your help
I'll definitely do this. I use N920W8 with telus.
Thanks so much
Hey mate, it worked. Thanks so much

Since the Kernel is a zip file, you can't install it with Odin. You have to use twrp.
