I've got two rooted AT&T S5 Actives running the stock NG3 firmware and am trying to spoof them as regular S5s by setting ro.product.device, name, and model to SM-G900A, but upon reboot buildprop reverts. Is there something else that I need to do to make it stick?

Trying to root my S5 Active. Brand new, Odin failed and Towelroot did not work either. Any ideas?
Soooo, I assume there is no way to root the S5 Active.
Check the general section, theres a thread, you need to odin a lowet firmware i believe.

Thanks, I'll check it out
I have an a Samsung Galaxy S5 running 4.4.4. I have already rooted my Galaxy Tab 4 and I'm in love and like to root my phone as well. I am aware that SuperSU will unroot a device, but my question is: when I turn in this S5 in 2 years for credit towards a new phone, will AT&T be able to tell that the device was rooted, even if I have unrooted it before turning it in?
Hi all
I have been trying to root my phone but I think I bought the most annoying phone to root. I hit a wall on every direction so far, from what I can understand, rooting for the new version of android is hard enough but the active is somehow more difficult than the regular galaxy s5. I have been told to downgrade using odin but I will need to get the matching older version of baseband and kernel. I'm not sure if this is what I need or even where to find them. Have anyone rooted a galaxy s5 active recently? any suggestion would help.
Thank you so much.
nvm sorry for the post..... this phone has no hope..
One of them is Rooted. 4.2.2 , MF3. No custom rom. xposed is working nicely. Only problem... cannot run Pokemon Go. Needs to be 5.0.1 or higher to run Pokemon Go.
Second. Stock 5.0.1. No root, nothing. absolutely no customization. Runs Pokemon Go. But I have no idea how to root from 5.0.1
Someone please. Any ideas on how to get either the first one updated with root or the second one rooted with xposed framework.
This is literally the thread right above yours.

Samsung s4 active
I also have a rooted s4 active and having trouble with installing framework. I keep getting stuck in Odin mode downloading.
Thanks
To answer your question.
You can root your phone using kingroot for 5.0.1 it will work fine, I have no other ideas how to root a device since I don't have a laptop or computer.
On another note, my galaxy S4 active is also stuck on Odin mode downloading.. Is this because the bootloader (whatever that is) is locked? My phone is through AT&T.
As stated in title, I wanted to know if I can still Root even though i now have the new update? its build number g950usqs2bql1. Im useing a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy s8. Also Does this still lock things like secured folder and such?
Not sure about U2BQL1 but you can root U2BQK5
