Popping sound with Aux - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've deleted the Camera Click. Ogg file from the system cause I figured is the same file the system uses for the camera and screenshot, but it is still making the camera click noise. Anybody know which sound file is linked to Screenshots? I didn't see a file named screenshot.

Thanks. That worked.
Another thing. I get popping noise when I change songs or plug in/out the Aux cable. Didnt happen yesterday, just randomly today.
Doesn't happen with headphones or Poweramp. Restart, reinstall of Google Music didn't help.

sounds like your aux cable may have a short......not really sure what else it could be unless you added some kind of audio mod.
Do you get the popping using headphones+Google Music ? and do you hear the same click without anything plugged in?

No popping noise with headphone+GM. Popping noise is only when I plug in the Aux. No popping noise when using wife's N3. Just my N4. Going to try a different AUX cable later on today and see how that goes. Wonder what has changed, since I've used the same cable for a week and there are no problems with the N3. Puzzled.

Strange speaker issue

Hi all,
I have a strange issue with one mobo for i9000 and I thought that maybe someone will be able to help with that. I have not been able to find any solution on the forum or anywhere else. The problem is that the speaker generally works - when I change the ringtone or notifications, the sound gets through it, however it does not play any sound when playing multimedia type of sound (so in games, or when changing multimedia volume in settings). When I connect headphones, the sound works ok for multimedia. Does anyone have an idea on what is going on with it? I have never seen such an issue, is there any way o fix it?
Thanks,

Try to change your rom if problem still there then it must be fault in speakers then go to service centre.
It confused me, that you write the speaker sounds normal ...
Are you using BigMEM or something which breaks some kernel-libs for multimedia???

Yeah, the sound gets through it when I select different ringtones, but not when playing multimedia. However when I connect headphones, all is ok.
Currently the phone was wiped clean and installed stock rom using Odin, so I assume if there even were modifications like those you mention, those should be all gone now.
Hmhh strange:
When you are using stock rom and the problem still exists it should be a hardware problem with the speaker maybe with some frequencies???
Because when you use your headphones erverything works okay, so the is produced by the kernel-drivers ...

check if you have any lint /dirt lodged in your headphone slot, try use a needle of tooth pick, when phone is powered off and battery removed.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

I will, thanks. I did not realize this may be the issue, since all other sounds go through the speaker. But then if the sound for ringtones goes through speaker regardless of connected headphones, this may be the issue.
I will check and see if this will help, thanks!

Ok so I have managed to trace the problem. It turned out that international version of i9000 has a different sensor/headphone connector than the SC-02B I have. I have ripped off the sensor/headphone module from original leftovers of the screen and connected it to the board and launched the phone. All sound works fine then, no issues whatsoever. Youtube works, ringtones work, even the light sensor works (it did not when I tested it on the international board). So this is it guys. Probably the same problem is with wifi - there are different board connectors and the antenna is not connected, hence low signal.
Thanks for your replies and help, much appreciated!

No sound via speakers

Hi all,
Today I found out my speakersound is not working properly.
The external speaker on the back works fine but when I start Walkman and want to play a song there is no sound.
I believe that my phone thinks that the headset is plugged in.
I have tried the following:
- Reflash stock
- Factory reset
- On/off device
It just doesnt work.
Anyone got a solution before I get my bud to a repair centre?
please use service test
Done, there is absolutly no sound. Only when i really plug my earphones in.
Also a funny thing. Normaly when you open FM radio without earphones it ask yo plug them in. But with me there was no popup this tells me that there is a problem with my 3.5mm jack
Hey a friend had the same problem with his HTC phone. he downloaded the app Headphone blocker (or similar) from the play store and that worked. maybe you'll use it temporarily?

oh,ok.. by the way i had the same problem but i just had to plug in the headphone for short and then it worked fine and the problem never came again. or you shut down the phone for a while?
tried it all.
Shut down lay it away for an hour. Plugged earphones in and put it way for a while..
I really dont know what to do..
Also; it is only with "media" files becasue i hear when someone calls me or sent me a text message. Changing volume is something i can hear to. I just need to reset so that it is not in headset mode any more
hm.. okay.. and where exactly comes the problem? only with walkman or also with youtube or instant buttons or something like that? and can you hear something, if you go to dialer and *#*#7378423#*#* then go to service test and loudspeaker?
oops okay saw it too late ^^ these are the same "symptoms" like I had. If you plug in your earphones, the music for examples functions, right? and if you let the music play and you plug them out while letting the music play it stops?
The problem occurs with everything that uses the speaker. For example youtube. There is absolutly no sound unless i use my headphones. The same is for walkman, apollo and many others.
The service tests dont work. Since i cant hear a thing unless i use my headphones
No the music dont stop when i unplug my headphones
Okay.. but it is loudless.. that's quite difficult ^^ if it thinks the headphine is in did you try to kind of clean the headphone jack connection by blowing into it e.g.?
Okay; very very late response but from me.
I've tried a lot of solutions but a very very weird one worked from me. My speakers are functioning again.
What I did.
After the response above I just blowed a bit air in it. I just, yes very weird, licked the 3.5 mm plug that goes inside in the phone and played a song.
When I removed it the Walkman stopped playing. I thought it was me that I pressed a button or something. So I plugged it back in pressed play and after two songs I removed my earphones and yet again, the music stopped.
WOW it worked!
So I pressed play again and Krewella played through my speaker again!!
So, licking it seems to work? :silly:
Probably because of dust between the contacts inside the hole.
Good you got it sorted

[Q] Headphone Jack Not Working!

So I decided to use my headphones today for the first time and the sound is distorted and Google now would automatically start every ten seconds! Anyone else having this issue? I used my headphones on my laptop with no problems. This really blows.

I didn't have this exact problem. I did get the google now thing a lot. And only some times. Like some days it wouldn't happen at all and others it wouldn't stop. I also have been having a problem with if I kneel/bend my body to much it'll shut the music off.

Clear the dust of headphone jack and give it a try and also give it a look that if the headphone is plugged in properly or not. I mean if it's Completely inserted or not
I have a similar problem. When using the headphone jack i just receive sound on one channel, the other one is mute. The only way to receive sound on both channel is to force the headphone plug to the left

How to force audio to play with front speaker?

As the title saids. The reason to do so is my phone "thinks" that an earphone is connected, but there's actually no earphone connected. Now all the audio are played with the "earphone that doesn't exist", that means the speaker won't play anything other than alarms.
I searched for solution, and found an app called "headset toggle" on Google Play. It allowed me to play music with the back speaker, but that's useless. What annoys me is that when I receive a phone call, the audio is also played with the "earphone that doesn't exist". I wonder if anyone knows how to force the audio in phone calls to play with front speaker.
Btw I'm using cm12.1, so I do have root. I've also tried flashing different roms, even stock rom to see if it's a software issue, unfortunately it's not.
Also I've found a "front speaker only mod" here but the download link is broken. If anyone have downloaded it before can you share a copy to me?

Thanks for the reply. I tried that app, it did what I want to do but it requires a ram consumpting background service. Please tell me if there's any other methods that doesn't require a background service. Thank you!:fingers-crossed:
Please, anyone knows a less ram consumpting method?

If i were you should buy earpiece jack i think. Mine was broken too and i live with that broken jack for 1month and ordered a new jack, repaired it and everything is working like charm. Still using it about 7 months and no problem.
Its so cheap on Aliexpress.

Thanks for the suggestion. But I wanted to see if there's any software that allows me to switch between earphone and speaker mode. The phone could still play sounds through earphone after I plug one in, but it thought I still have an earphone connected after I remove the earphone.
Didn't quite understand what's an "earpiece jack" btw. Did you replace the whole earpiece of the phone?

Dodgy headphone port

Is anyone else finding that they'll plug in headphones and the handset isn't recognising that there's something plugged in?

No, never happened
Nope.
I have the same problem. Some headphones work fine and others don't. I found that an app called SoundAbout can fix this. It can force the audio into the headphones even if the system doesn't recognize the headphones. Seems that this is a software problem.
I'm still having the problem that some headphones just won't stay plugged and come off easily. Wonder if the problem is the actual headphone socket?

I had the same problem with the standard headphones, every other headphone worked, i actually find a method is pretty stupid but you have to put some saliva on the jack and twist it in the headphone jack so it makes contact, obviously now i changed headphones.

This just started happening to me this week. My Mate 9 was bought in February. I was about to do a full reset but I'll try SoundAbout and the saliva trick and post an update later.
UPDATE: SoundAbout fixed it for me. This leads me to believe the phone needs a reset as it doesn't appear to be a hardware issue.
