Hey,
I can't look at LG3 owners without being annoyed about how simple, useful and easy to use the double tap to wake option is implemented there. As for myself I had it with my Nexus 5 which I upgraded from but from my understanding almost all of the big OEM's such as Sony HTC and of course LG has that option.
It is beyod my understanding as to why samsung is the only one to not implement double tap to wake. Any idea's, and do you think we will ever have it?(might be only with a custom kernel but development is lacking at the moment in that area)
Edit: btw, as for a full explanation as to why that option doesn't compromise battery:
'' LG uses Qualcomms low power functionality on Snapdragon 800+ processors for D2TW and knock code. Together with a low power mode on the digitizer, this means that it will use nearly no power. ''
Had a G2 and G3 before, and tbh, the knock on/off feature is the only thing I miss ...
It would be even more useful on the note 4 due to its size.
My HTC One M8 has "knock to wake" and I find it genuinely useful. However, it only really works for me if I have the phone in my hand - it doesn't seem to register if my phone is sitting on my desk.
Given that the Note range has a physical home key, and you can wake it by pressing that, I do question how useful "knock to wake" would be on the Note.
Just my opinion though - you probably think otherwise.
Regards,
Dave

Hey, Ican Wake my Note 4 just Waveing my hand over it. Stock setting
You have a physical buttom in the fromt, so there is not point in having something that will just drain your battery a bit more.
With two ways to wake up the phone, the big physical home button and the side button who needs a third way?
Yes I miss double tap to wake-up, using app called WTN Settings and I double tap on the proximity sensor. Yes it leaves proximity sensor always on but I haven't noticed battery drain.

Air wake up is ok but not as efficient and doesn't work if only have one hand anyways. Custom kernels should be able to add this option.

Here's one on how to speed up the Note 4...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAXtjgrfgEY
I have this little trick
I used a SGN2 with 3 frotal buttons. Menu--Home--Back.
Anytime I need my screen doesn't turn off I pressed menu button, if the menu appears well I pressed again menu button and screen was still turn on.
Now my SGN4 has this 3 frontal buttons Recent apps--Home--Back
If U use some kind of apps (for previous android versions) you will find that menu is hidden, and not all the time the 3 points menu shows up, then WHERE'S MENU BUTTON?
Well the trick is this
If you PRESS and HOLD "recent apps" button you will activate MENU BUTTON.
Try it
I'm loving the copy text feature of the s-pen. Sweet

SixAxis controller works a charm with any game that supports native android game controller - GTA:SA, RR3, PicaSim are working for me, haven't tried much else.
The note makes for a pretty decent portable gaming platform.
You can register up to 6 fingerprints.
When setting up fingerprint 1, scan a finger 10 times then hit register and scan a different finger for the next ten. Hit done.
Repeat for fingerprint 2 and 3.

OK I hope this makes sense. On my Sprint note 4 you have your screen and then at the bottom you have the captive buttons as well as the physical home button (we all have that) now if you are on your home screen and want to slide to the next screen either right or left.... slide your finger on the black line (bottom of my screen) no matter if its across the whole bar or only part of it. I have attached a pic I got off the net to show what I'm talking about. I hope other carriers have this enabled as is so easy to flip between screens. I've only found it to work on the home screen though.

What is SideSqueeze?
SideSqueeze is an innovative and unique app that uses the barometric pressure sensor in your device to detect squeezes and screen presses. It is compatible only with Samsung Galaxy devices from 2017 onwards, although some people have reported varying degrees of success with Pixel devices.
What It Does
SideSqueeze gives your S8/S9/S10 series Galaxy the ability to respond to squeezes, double squeezes, triple squeezes, quadruple squeezes, long squeezes, and/or inertial squeezes, as well as force presses on the screen. For example, you can double squeeze your phone to activate Google Assistant...or maybe you'd like to quadruple squeeze to toggle auto-rotation. And now with Tasker integration, you can even create elaborate tasks to do just about anything and trigger them with any type of squeeze! SideSqueeze's new modular GUI allows you to pick and choose what you want to do with ease.
Features (not all available in trial version)
7 detectable squeeze types (single, double, triple, quadruple, long, long double-squeeze, and inertial)
3 detectable press types (single, long, and 2-finger)
Independently selectable criteria allow you to assign multiple actions to any trigger type (if lockscreen open, if homescreen open, if camera open, if S-Pen detached, if within 5-seconds of power on, if the phone is ringing, if in-call, or if screen is off)
New app picker to launch any app of your choosing
Tasker integration to launch any task of your choosing
Quick Settings tile to toggle detection engine
Wide selection of common actions, such as flashlight toggling, status bar toggling, etc
Adjustable pressure thresholds
Calibration assistant to customize SideSqueeze to your device's unique characteristics
Efficient detection algorithm that is designed to be as lightweight and low-power as possible with no significant impact on battery life
Questions?
See the in-app Help section for answers to commonly asked questions.
Where do I get it?
SideSqueeze 2 is now available on the Play store!

Interesting concept, but I think it's wrong. It's using the touch screen pressure as it's gauge from what testing and results I could fetch.
Correct me if am wrong but I didn't think devices had a sensor for pressure in the reference made out in this app???...

The app detects squeezes by monitoring the barometric pressure sensor inside your sealed device. An algorithm looks for changes of the proper type and magnitude that correspond to squeezing the sides, and an action is performed. Once you learn how to squeeze it, I find it to be reliable. The FAQ (and video clip) describe how best to do it.

Thank you! Yes, I'll be adding that soon.
Please add support for Tasker. It would be nice to be able to configure the squeeze on a per app basis.
I wanted to give it a try, but it says that the early access program is currently full
I have expanded the limit, and am working on bug fixes.
Great app! Can you provide us .apk so we can test on other devices? Play Store says app is not compatible with my SGS7.
I tried it and the squeezing is wildly inconsistent. On top of that it activates even when I'm scrolling the screen with one hand. Great concept, but doesn't work very well sorry.

It will not work with a case on, as the dev said, it detects slight changes within the frame, which would be absorbed by your case, and thus not transmitted to the body of the phone itself

the adb command "adb shell sh /sdcard/grant" returns a "no such file or directory"
nvm it works now after the update. thanks
I like the idea of it, I'm not facing any trouble when I remove my case and SQUEEZE! However, while using the Stand case for the note 8 (made by Samsung) I can't get it to work.
works with cases, just adjust sensitivity. one thing i noticed is that app gets killed quite easily.i have to constantly relaunch it. other than that, i feel like i have a pixel 2!

First let me apologize if this is not the correct location on the forum to post this. I by am no means looking to bash the phone just had some questions that maybe some people may be able to help me with. I understand this is not Touchwiz so it is different, and these are very minor issues nothing that I could not learn to adjust to.
1) Notification drop down. Though I do like the "gesture" style notification drop down. Before I could use the finger print scanner to drop down to notification tab is there another shortcut way to make this happen similar to the finger print way on the S8+? I may be able to do in in Nova but will need to mess with it to figure it out.
2) Brightness bar. Does anyone know how to get the brightness bar to possible show up in the notification without it being pulled down all the way?
3) Home button. I can't seem to find a way to press the home button when in a full screen game app. Meaning prior I was able to press the location and then it would still work. Now I have to swipe up to show the nav bar and then press it.
4)LTE+ This is one isn't a complaint just a question about since I got the unlocked instead of Verizon it shows LTE+ vs 4G doing a quick search it seems to be ok just wanted some clarification.
Other then those few things I noticed over all I am happy the phone is a lot quick and better then my previous. Though at the same time nothing super new to really "wow" me I was already more then happy with the S8+ and the S10+ is a very good evolution. The hole punch is really not as bad as some others may have feared. The finger print does take a little time to get used to but seems to work about 85% success mostly do to slightly off placement. Having the extra cameras is great and so far a nice upgrade from my S8+. Again not really complaining but maybe there is toggle that I may have missed that could have fixed my little issues.
1. Use the swipe down gesture in nova launcher to pull it down, not as nice as FP sensor gesture i know :/
2. You can do this by checking the setting for 'Show Control on Top' when you expand the brightness control
3. If you are using the gestures for navigation you would swipe from where the home button would be if it were held in portrait, so typically on the right when gaming. just play with it.

Thanks, I actually used an an BX actions to remap the button on my S8+ decided to pay for the full feature and now I mapped it to drop down notifications so thats all set. Thanks found the control option by clicking on the arrow. As for my third the more I use both pbones it might be good to swipe up for the buttom. No more accidental presses when in full screen. So it looks like the phones grade is moving up ?. Thanks for the reply.
Pull down the notification all the way. Next to the brightness bar you will see a little down arrow, press that and there it is.

Oh, this is good to know. This is one of the reasons I switch launchers. I'm so used to swipe up anywhere for apps and down anywhere for notifications. This is even more natural to me than the fingerprint reader swipe, but of course the fingerprint reader let you do it in any app which is a big difference.
As for #4 since no one answered, the unlocked version is just being more specific. The US carriers usually replace the specific technology type (LTE, LTE+, etc) with generic "4G" branding (or 5GE if you're a jackass).
I just paid for full BXActions and I was able to remap bixby to double tap to drop the notification. Before I was happy with the free version but deff worth the extra few bucks. I can map more tap types.

I just followed your lead cflip2x and paid for the full version of BXActions and it's (obviously) ideal for this phone. Struggling to attach a single tap action to the bixby button though since whatever I try only seems to activate on a double tap. I need to find the right forum to discuss that issue but it's a great app.

In Nova Beta 6.1 you don't need Tesla anymore, there is an option in the notification which uses the default Pie notification (numbered) system. Starting tomorrow Tesla won't be available on Playstore due to Google new restrictions.
Hi,
I got my P30 Pro couple of days ago, so far everything is pretty smooth, but one thing really bothers me:
The sensitivity of the bottom right corner; I'm using SwiftKey with no dedicated emoji key (=you have to long press the enter key), and 3 times out of 4 it doesn't take the long press.
And my long press duration is 200ms...
Anyone having the same issue??
I think the corners are less sensitive by default to prevent accidental touches. Due to it having a curved screen, it's easy to activate app icons on the bottom left and right with your palm. On my s10 plus, i always accidentally launch apps which are situated in the bottom right. Never had this issue on the p30 pro so i guess it's better this way.

I am having screen sensitivity issues in general with this phone, i am finding i am having to press the home button a few times for it to register sometimes and also when i unlock the phone when i have notifications, i am sometimes having to press the notifications a few times before they open also.
I am using still on firmware .124 so not sure if when i get an update if it will fix that?

Hi Shaunydub,
Thank you, It's indeed the way i set up my keyboard, but it's done on purpose, I've always used SwiftKey like this and I'm used to it.
But I guess, I will eventually have to switch to the dedicated key...

If you're talking about "Mistouch prevention", unfortunately it doesn't help as it's only blocking the screen to be turned on when the proximity sensor detects something like when it's in your pocket.
Just a heads up ,had the same problem of double tap to wake not working and any other screen off gestures. after few hours of fiddling came to know it has something do with the proximity sensor not being properly calibrated. Once I calibrated the sensor the issue was fixed for me ,sharing it in the interest so that it works for others too.
1. Enter engineering mode by entering *#808# on the dialer.
2.goto device debugging tab and select proximity sensor test
3. Make sure nothing covers your phone on top as instructed and tap the offset calibrate button multiple time until you see the text "pass" on screen.
4. That is all, now the double tap to wake should work along with other offscreen gestures

did you get the pass text after pressing "offset calibrate button" multiple times?
Yes
Should we put something at 2cm and then 4cm away from the phone when doing this calibration? It doesn't seem like we are calibrating if we just have the sensor pointing straight up at nothing? I have gone to the menu page for proximity calibration, but have not hit the offset calibrate button yet.
worked for me. Thx!
I didn't really locate the exact "offset calibrate button", but after simply hitting on a few of the options in that device debugging tab I got it up and running again. Thanks.

So the above worked for me, however, I clicked the calibration button one time and when it asked for me to put something 2cm/4cm away from the sensor, I used the back swipe gesture and left the calibration settings. Once I did that, my draw O for flashlight, tap to wake, notifications and ambient sensor started working again.

Thanks for the feedback. So it does ask to put something a 2cm/4cm away. That makes sense. I never did try it. I did settings/apps/show all apps/ show system apps/ambient display/ I cleared the cache and then restarted the phone. After that all was good and it kept working. That was a few days ago before the OTA update came down.
Delete. Wrong forum.

Step 2b: select infrared proximity calibration
Step 3b: follow instructions to place a planar object (my hand) at 2cm and then 4cm away from the top of the screen.
But it worked! Thanks OP
Doesn't work on mine either. However the only gesture that doesn't work is double tap, thankfully when I lift it now that works again.

Hopefully you will continue to be good from here on out! I have had zero problems with this device and started to love it again. Now my only pain point are the T-Mobile updates. Still waiting for the camera one to make its way to me and I am tentative about receiving future updates.

So you went into engineering mode and your double tap is still unresponsive?

Yes, however it's working now. I can put up with little bugs as long as they are eventually fixed. The only thing I don't like is showing somebody my nice new phone and having something not work ??
For those people who have this issue still, Oneplus afiirmed to have fixed/ improve DTTW and will release a stable OTA soon including other fixes

turn off single tap show then double tap should be works fine
i ran into this problem again this morning in low light after calibrating the proximity sensor and receiving the update that supposedly fixed the problem. will performing a factory reset restore whatever changes i made in the engineering mode?
