Adapt brightness - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is exactly happening when you scale the brightness back and forth while the "adapt" checkbox is checked? Is it lowering or raising thresholds at which the screen will change?

Brightnes issue in Gingerbread 2.3.3

Does anybody noticed an issue with Auto Brightness?
Sometimes when i turn the screen on the brightness is automatically set to maximum and it doesn't scale down even if i'm in a dark room.

Sometimes my screen is set to max as soon as I turn it on but it returns to normal right after.
the issue i mentioned appears expecially after rebooting. the brightness goes at the maximum level and does not auto adjust.
Yeah, I have noticed a number of strange behaviors on 2.3.3. In fact, I have not yet seen it work properly auto-brightness mode on, It does one of the following:
-Brightness goes to low and stays there until I turn off auto
-Brightness goes to 100% and stays there until I turn off auto
-Brightness flips back and forth between low and 100% about every 20 seconds (instantly, not gradually).
None of the above seem to have anything to do with what the ambient light level is, but I could be wrong about that.
I also noticed that (Android app) Tasker doesn't seem to be able to control the brightness anymore.
Motorola Droid.
The last time i tried Auto Brightness was when i first bought my N1 and it didn't work at all. Been set at a level i like ever since and now i have no compunction to try Auto again.

[Q] Any way to reduce the backlight brightness below what is normally achievable...?

The One, in common with many phones, has its minimum backlight brightness set much too high for my liking: regardless of whether powersave and autobrightness modes are on or off, the screen at minimum brightness is far too bright if you're viewing it in a dark room.
There, are of course, apps which diminish screen brightness by using a translucent black overlay, and indeed I'm using one right now - Lux, it's called; but, while that kind of app reduces the brightness of whites, it has no effect at all on black-level, and the overall dynamic range and contrast ratio is reduced (not to mention an impact on performance).
Is there any way to actually reduce the brightness of screen's backlight below normal levels? I'm not currently rooted, but would be willing to try that if it solves this issue.

auto brightness too dark?

any good way to change it?
Can turn it off. Don't think you can set the auto to be brighter....
The app Lux let's you set the brightness at different light levels

[Q] Adaptive Brightness

Quick question. My initial thought was that by toggling adaptive brightness, it would enable the phone to use the full spectrum of backlighting for the current lighting situation. But, I am finding, that you still need to use the brightness slider to determine the max level brightness that adaptive brightness will go to. Is that correct? Because when I push the slider up to enable more brightness, the phone's screen does become brighter. Can anyone confirm this is how it was designed to work? (I am on stock 5.1 with no mods.)

AOD brightness keeps adjusting itself. auto brightness disabled

Hi
My AOD brightness is not set to auto, but it keeps adjusting on its own. I have it set to the 3rd highest level. However every couple days it keeps lowering back to the 2nd level. Anyone else notice this?
