Hi, I have just bought an M7 for my daughter (used)
It is now unlocked, rooted and twrp installed. Can't get rumrunner working and after reading advice I installed elementalx kernel. Still no joy.
So biting the bullet I installed sunshine, however it doesn't like my kernel and yes you've guessed, long day, tired and didn't backup.
It's Hboot 1.57, 4.4.3, sense 6 build no 6.09.401.5 (UK, network unlocked)
Tried looking and I can't find the stock kernel to reflash
Plus while I'm here, with this combo is sunshine the only S-OFF option?
thanks in advance.

Sunshine is your best option. But you should try rumrunner or firewater with Bulletproof kernel.
If all else fails flash Android Revolution HD it is custom but it's very close to stock. Especially if you don't install xposed and any other tweaks. Sunshine worked for me on ARHD. MaximumsHd also has success with sunshine.

Hello.
I've tried the "big three" methods -- rumrunner, firewater, revone -- but I absolutely cannot S-OFF my HTC One M7.
Here are my specs:
HTC One M7 - AT&T
Hboot 1.5.5.0000
Android 4.2.2
CyanogenMod version 10.1.3.-RC1-m7att
TWRP v2.7.1.0a
Phone is UNLOCKED
Phone is ROOTED
Nothing works. This is really lame.
Can someone help, please?
Thanks in advance.

if everything else has failed like firewater has given you the whelp message then all that's left is sunshine s-off, it will scan your phone and if its going to work you will have to make a small donation of $25 for it to continue.

Sunshine says:
"Please change your VM to dalvik in the developer settings for your phone."
In my currently installed ROM (CM10 Android 4.2.2), there is no setting in developer options to change the runtime. Can I change it manually, i.e. by hacking or using a specific app? Or must I -- *sigh* -- install a different ROM?

OK. Could you tell me where I can find a stock 4.4 ROM that doesn't require S-OFF to be installed? I was searching yesterday but had no luck.

try maximus HD or ARHD custom roms, they are very stock like rom's.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023 ARHD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189373 Maximus HD
you need to use TWRP 2.6.3.3 recovery to flash either of those.

ARHD + Sunshine was the answer. S-OFF is now active! :good:
Thanks a lot for the help, I appreciate it. Now to see which ROM will suit me the best...
hello dear friends, maybe someone can lead me in the right direction here. I have a sprint Htc One m8 Harman Kardon with badboyz 4.4.2 rom installed. I have tried rumrunner S-off and Firewater S-off to no avail. I then read about Sunshine S-off and was ok with parting with $25- to have my phone unlocked but when I run the compatibility test in sunshine it says that my htc isnt supported! My htc M8 currently has the BadBoyz rom in it, I dont have a nandroid backup to get back to s tock and i havent been able to find a stock rom that i can flash in TWRP. I have only found RUUs, but to use RUUs you have to have s-off so I really dont know what else to try at this point.... any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
RUU's do not require s-off.

sorry about that....could you please tell me which is the right RUU to use in my case then? thanks!
I had some similar issues in the past, try flashing thoughtlesskyle's stock rom. It may show compatability then. Hope this helps.
U need to be running a stock Rom.

Thanks for your help, after flashing a stick Rom sunshine worked just fine and I'm now unlocked
I currently have my M7 unlocked and rooted, now fancy a try at getting s-off for my M7.
I am currently running the latest Insertcoin rom with the default kernel that comes with it. I've currently tried Rumrunner and Revone that come with the Tookkit from Squabbi but both fail. I am assuming this is because 1.57 is a tricky one to gain s-off.
Anyone had any luck with this verson and running Insertcoin?
Thank you.

With that hboot your best free chance of S-OFF is firewater. I don't know about that combination but you can search the thread and see if someone has made it. It seems each phone is different and what works for one doesn't work for another. If you get the "whelps this sucks..." message then you will need to use sunshine but it cost $25.
Ok, tried the Firewater method, first bottle chugs then I am informed my kernel contains an anti firewater patch. So, I googled around and it shows Elemental as being firewater friendly. I flashed this kernel, tried Firewater and I get the same results.
I am running the latest ARHD and obviously now the Elemental kernel.
Thanks.

use an older rom + bulletproof
you can also check here for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632351
if you are already on firmware 6.xx, then most likely firewater will fail anyway (even without giving you the "whelp this sucks" message)
Older rom, as in perhaps a Jellybean rom? Sense or aosp?
Yep, on a 6.09 build number.
Thanks.
I tried many different ways to get s-off on HBoot 1.57. All failed.
Only option working is SunShine, which costs me USD$25.
But it is surely fast and effective.
Check your emmc chipset. If it begins with 9001, you won't be able to s-off without Sunshine - if it's any other you should be fine. I managed to s-off with OnePlus One CyanogenMod 11S rom.
My Details:
Code:
Tampered
Unlocked
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55.0000
Bootloader is twrp. I currently have installed miui v4 with android 4.2.2
Could you tell me which s-off guide is great for me, I couldn't find the right one.

You try rumrunner then firewater. I would recommend reading thru the threads to get an idea what works and what doesn't. You will probably have to change roms to something more closer to stock rom than miui. The quickest way is with sunshine but it will cost $25. It too works better with roms that are closer to stock.
FYI: TWRP is a custom recovery; hboot 1.55 is your bootloader

Which ROM would you recommend?
And then the best way would be an ubuntu clean livecd / usb installation for android purposes?

Oh, okay!

FWIW, I just used Sunshine this morning and it worked great. I have S-Off'd many M7's, but this one was being stubborn. It was worth the $25 IMO. For Hboot 1.55, I would install an older ARHD rom (4.4.2) and then flash bulletproof kernel for that firmware. Then use Rumrunner or Firewater. That ALWAYS worked for me on the older 1.55 hboot.

Many have had success with AHRD 53.0 or 62.0 and Bulletproof Kernel. See @sjorge3442 post about his personal experiences. You can use Ubuntu USB, there is no need to install Ubuntu.

I would like to flash with sunshine, so I can flash ARHD 53 and use it? I tried with miui but the compatibility check failed.
My main reason to switch the ROM again are Keyboard problems......I am searching an GPE like ROM with a few fixes and tweaks. Maybe you can recommend a ROM where I don't need to S-OFF.
I really like to update as soon as possible to Android L.

The lastest ARHD & MaximusHD are two that are close to stock and don't require S-OFF. Most GPe roms require S-OFF.

I Installed MaximusHD which worked great, and installed sunshine.apk and bought the S-off for 25$.
Everything worked well. Now I will try insertcoin and viperone.
Thanks @ all
