Hi. Does anyone know a way to adjust the ambient brightness level for the always on mode?

The only solution I could find is to use a watch face that has a grey filter on top (of some sort).
Try the "crono watch face" from play (freeware) to see what I'm talking about.
you can recreate that behaviour in WatchMaker or Facer as well:
add a topmost 1px black image spanned to full screen and visilble only in dimmed mode
using opacity you can then change the brightness
you can even go ahead and have it adjusted automatically based on current hour or sunrise/sunset

ciao dettofatto
in watchmaker, I use the attached image scaled to 512x512px as the topmost layer and with the following forumla in the opacity field:
{dh23} > 18 and 50 or {dh23} < 7 and 50 or 0
red indicates the time in which to apply the filter (in my case between 19:00 and 07:00)
and blue how much the screen will be dimmed (higher number = darker screen)
I have the layer visible only in dim mode, so the watch won't be dimmed when active
of course, this only affects the watchface, not notifications or anything else
Im using the awesome A45 watch face, can adjust ambient light to whatever you like
I use brightness display for wear.
Brightness in fonction of time, position and activity
True Dark

I use the "SWApp True Dark" app. The levels (normal & ambient) are set on the watch after running the app there. There's a function to set the app on/off using slide but that can be disabled.

Screen filter is working pretty well, and you can reduce brightness to complete dark if you want (except the status bar). One annoying bug is that toast messages are not shown, only after disabling it ...
I am not sure if it has an effect onthe battery usage, but i guess yes if i am right about how amoledworks ...

Tip: brightness level (from CurveFish) via Android market goes to 0% , although not completely dark but works fine.
Brightness level does indeed allow you to select 0% but when I do that, the brightness setting in the application Extended Controls" will go from 2% to 4%
so "Extended Controls" allows you to select 2% as a minimum but this would actually be -2% in "Brightness level".
I could also not see any noticable difference between these two.
Does screen filter actually reduce the brightness or does it rather change the LUT?
It looks like it's just changing the color values to a 'more black' level than reducing the actual light-output.
I love showing off my new LG G Watch R to people... however I was told multiple times that the watch face was too bright when in a semi-dim room. Any chance a future update could have lower brightness levels?
try SWApp True Dark Wear, this helps me..

yes True Dark is well, but......... it is a shame that google does not think the bulk
I had the same problem, and made an app for it, it's very simple to use.

The only way to change the brightness for always on mode is (if your watchface supports it) changing the brightness in the settings of your watchface. Or changing the dim color to a darker color.

No, the Wear brightness setup is for the active mode on all wear watch. For the dim mode I know only the app "SWApp True Dark" wich can change the brightness of this mode and not related on the watchface.
I use my Z3C at night quite often and find that the backlighting is too bright even turned all the way down. The adaptive lighting option does not bring it bright enough durring daylight use if left un the low setting. Is there any way to adjust the backlight other than a 3rd party app?

Do you mean other than the brightness slider?
Install lux and set it to adjust brightness automatically depending on ambiant light.
Set it to -10 or 5% with 1 lux and 100% with 100. Etc. It take time to adjust it but will save your eyes and battery.
Donation isn't necessary but bring some good options.
Works like default adaptive brightness but with more steps (if you desire), darker or lighter...

After a few days with Lux, it is much better. It allows the screen to dim and brighten way past stock settings. I really like the night filter mode. When i am outside and check my phone i am no longer getting blasted by a spotlight bright screen!
Hello,
is it possible to make an Watchface with Watchmaker which change the Brightness depending of time?
On Day the Brightness should be high, because of Sunlight or something else. And on Night it should be darker than on Day.
e.g. From 6:00 AM till 7:00 PM Brightness-Level should be 5 and from 7:01 PM till 5.59 AM it should be 1.
What I have to do, or is there an existing Watchface on which I can see what I have to do?
Thx Forward

If you use this just add a black square or circle, put it on top of all layers and go to opacity. Change it to ({dh24} > 5 and {dh24} < 20) and 0 or 50. You can tweak the values to how you like.
https://www.watchawear.com/watches/...al-for-watches-without-brightness-sensor.html
:Realizing the night mode is very easy. First you set the following variables in the script: var_enableNightMode = true var_nightModeBrightness = 70 The first one allows to switch night mode on or off (for example depending on the watch (i.e. off for Moto360 and on for LG Watch R). The second one defines the brightness during night mode. After these two variables are defined in the script you just need a circle with width and height 512 as the very last layer. Color is pure black and the opacity is as follows: (var_enableNightMode == true and (({dtp} {wssp} + 0.021))) and 100-var_nightModeBrightness or 0 This will lower the brightness during the night:

Please, what os black pic with opacity settings?
Check the settings I use for my watch (watchmaker, of course).
I have placed a black circle on top of everything and I put the following formula on the opacity field (see attachment)
It is basically adding a 40% transparency black layer when the sunset is happening and opacity 0 on sunrise ... evrika!
The watch it self is this one: http://facerepo.com/app/faces/details/lines-outlines-v2-1-14e6001afee
Works perfectly alongside watchmaker. So no fancy script editing needed.

Hi,
Not sure where the correct place is for this, so thought that I'd put it here.
I am looking for an app that controls brightness. I like the brightness of my phones to be dialed down to around 40%. I find it most comfortable for my eyes. Yet when it is bright out, I need to make the screen brighter. This means that I need to go in and manually adjust the brightness. I don't like to have the phone set to automatically adjust the brightness.
I'd like to find an app that allows adjusting brightness by icon. I don't want one that has one icon that toggles through a bunch of preset brightness levels. Instead, I want an app that can have different icons for different brightness levels. That way, if I wanted to toggle the brightness to 60%, I could tap an icon that does that. Then I could have an icon set for 30% to set it back.
Anyone know of an app that does this?

Lux, if properly configured, could do that for you.
I think I understand what you're going for. I use Power Toggles (Dev: Painless Apps), and one of the toggles on the widget is for brightness and I have it set to 3 settings when I touch it; 20%, 40% and 100%. It's not possible to set each new brightness widget for individual brightness presets, unfortunately, but I don't see how it would be difficult to just make some predetermined settings for your brightness.
By now you should have a pretty firm idea on what level of brightness you prefer throughout your day so maybe you can use this app and have 2, 3 or more presets. It's really simple to use, I have it set to 3 settings and touching the widget to get to the brightness I want at that moment is super quick and not difficult at all.
You can see in the screenshot I use the widget at the top on my home page. Brightness is among the other toggles I use on a regular basis. Much quicker to turn on and off things, IMO. It's right there on my home screen so I don't have to pull my notification window down. I hope this helps.
I just use Auto Brightness setting. I set the brightness slider at 40% and the phone will auto-adjust the screen to keep it at a relative 40 indoors and outdoors.
I think this is what you're looking for:
