My wife and I got new Note 3's last Saturday. I rooted them both with Kingo's root, both are rooted no problem. But hers keeps giving up "Touchwiz home has stopped" FC's.... now she's all upset wanting to take it back to stock so it'll stop FC'ing - has anyone else seen this? They are both MJ5 AT&T Note 3's SM900A. No custom roms or recovery, just the root/SU access.
Thanks

Why did you root your wifes phone? What changes did you make?
Is it happening when she's trying to select a widget? It would force close on me when I tried that before. To fix it I opened the application manager and wiped data and cache for touchwiz home. I had to replace all my app icons after doing so which is no biggie.
You can also pick a different home launcher like go launcher, nova, apex, etc....

She wanted it rooted so she could put on Ad-Away. We both prefer the Touchwiz launcher and I'm just dumbfounded as to why mine is fine and hers keeps force closing. It happens when you hit the home button one too many times when coming out of Facebook and at other random times.
it might be a app conflicting with touchwiz you might try doing a factory reset and then install apps one at a time and see if the problem comes back
When you furiously click buttons, things start to go wrong. One click is enough.
I can sit here on TW and assault the home key to exit an app. Doesn't make it go any fast and makes things act up.

I successfully flashed with TowelRoot and am enjoying being rooted.
I used Titanium Backup to freeze all the AT&T bloatware.
I noticed today that I'm getting force closes when I try to use Action Memo. The rest of the S-Pen apps are seeming to work just fine. I would really really like to get Action Memo working again.
I've defrosted all the AT&T bloat, thinking that I may have frozen something, but it is still crashing.
The only other work that I've done after rooting is to load the LG G3 Keyboard apk, and the Galaxy S5 Messaging apk. I can't think that would interfere with Action Memo.
Can someone help me?
Do you use Greenify at all? I've found that Greenifying will cause it to not work.

I don't know what that is, but I'm positive that I haven't downloaded that...

It may or may not be the LG G3 Keyboard. I was having that same issue when I had the G3 Keyboard. When I did a clean wipe to update my ROM, I did not re-install the G3 keyboard. And now my action memo works fine.
The G3 keyboard does have a writing feature that just crashes when you try to use it on the Note 3. So what I am assuming is that since it is set as the default keyboard, it is trying to use that writing feature instead of the spen's version that is built into the Samsung keyboard.
Try this and see if it fixes it -
(this will ether temp remove or delete the G3 Keyboard depending on what you chose to do)
1.Use root browser or root explorer to open System/App
2.Put .bak at the end of these files names or delete them -
LGEIME.apk , LGEIME_DICT_XT9_bin.apk , LGEIME_THEME_BLACK#2.apk , LGIme_Theme_HARLEY_DAVIDSON.apk
3.Go to System/Lib and do the same as before except with these 3 files -
libjni_lgeime_native.so , libjni_xt9input_v9.so , libMyScriptHWR.so
4. Reboot your phone
5. Open Settings/Controls/Language and input
6. Lastly, set Samsung Keyboard as your default.
Open action memo and test if it works. If it does, then you know it was the G3 keyboard. If it doesn't, then its another issue going on.

It TOTALLY WAS the LG G3 keyboard.
Instead of renaming the apks (add .bak), I just deleted/removed/uninstalled. After a reboot or two, Action Memo is working LIKE A CHARM!
Thanks a ton for the heads up. That LG G3 keyboard app was a very cool keyboard, but not cool enough to live without Action Memo.

You're welcome. It is a great keyboard, but I don't think its worth it to lose action memo ether.
I cannot seem to find some apps within /system/app. For instance, in the application manager there is "T-Mobile My Account" but I cannot find the apk with root explorer. Is there a new method they used to install apps as to not be easily removed? Does anyone know the apk name or location?
Did you check in /data/app? Tmo My Account is in Google Play so maybe its preinstalled as a removable app?
Just use titanium backup to freeze or uninstall them. And, yes I'd say they're hidden.
Yeah, Titanium. But I realized I believe its in /system/priv-app..
Thanks that was the location.
Another issue, whenever the play store is installing or uninstalling an app, the spen double tap to open s memo does not work. I have to have about 15 seconds after google play has finished installing and app before s memo is launched. Anyone know why this is?
Hmm, that might be a new one lol, but I just tried it, letting the store update some apps, and for me the double tap does open memo, but it is delayed by several seconds. Not sure why but maybe it has something to do with the system being mounted or busy or something?

What rom you running.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Running stock, and problem seems to be gone after removing xposed framework and wanam xposed. The original delay was actually over a minute

system/priv-app that's where they have been for a long while... :good:
Anyone know how to permanently disable the keyboard? I turn it off and it auto turns back on. I have SwiftKey installed, but I keep getting the select keyboard notification.
You can't quite "turn it off" but you could always freeze it or uninstall it with Titanium Backup. Although I wouldn't personally recommend it, since Samsung apps have strange linking and uninstalling a seemingly unimportant app could cause a permanent TW crash.
Thanks. Wasn't quite ready to root.

the samsung keyboard being removed or frozen won't cause TW crashes. there is a way to remove it without rooting. you can boot (not flash) TWRP and then flash a zip which will remove it from it's location. i'll get to it this weekend. should jump start the modding.
alternatively, there's a mod which can just disable the IME switcher notification. i'll need to make this one as well.
Hello everyone
I've been having this issue with Samsung phones only when I had the note 4 with different versions of android from lollipop until now on oreo
I dont know what cause it but when I got the note 8 I did a fresh install without recovering any data from my backup
But it appeared again I did a factory rest and it was gone then it came back
I only install trusted apps but seems it's a system thing cause it only show when
Apps r either uninstalled or being updated
Pics in the attachment
Hope I get an answer coz its frustrating specially when u watch videos
I'm not rooted but developer option is enabled
Disabling it doesn't change anything
Anyone ?
So you are getting these toasts at random? The only time I see an uninstalled toast is whenever I actually uninstall an app. I have noticed with Oreo that uninstalling an app is no longer "instant", there is a delay which is annoying. Upon uninstall, the app doesn't disappear from the app drawer right away & the uninstall toast takes a while to pop up.

The uninstalled toast is normal. With past Android versions it didn't list the package name getting uninstalled but you still got a goast saying uninstalled finished.
What I don't understand is if you only get these toasts when uninstalling an app, how are you getting them while watching a video?
Luckypatcher? Cough cough.

Sounds like a Substratum issue to me or third party launcher if you are using one.
