I would like to know this as well.

Try the beta versions (test6), you can get it off the twitter page. I have a license, not sure if that is required for beta use of not. It works much better than the play store release on 4.4.4 and up imo

Here is the download link for the latest beta version of Titanium
backup, this will work with your existing "pro" key:
https://app.box.com/s/1opt1q2bnjl4oxd65ifg
This is a lot newer than what you find at the play store.
I have no issues or problems with Titanium backup.
Give it a try,

That's because the backed up folder is on legacy instead of emulated. Switch them around in preferences. Good luck

I have a slightly different issue...I can make 1 backup, maybe 2-5 adds for new apps/versions, and then I get error message "Batch backup interrupted: Insufficient free space." This has happened across 3 ROMs, uninstall/reinstall Titanium and pro key, wipe app data, delete backup/backup all apps, using root explorer to delete all Titanium files, update to newest version(6.2) from Titanium link in Twitter, and about every other thing I can imagine. Not a noob, and I have searched XDA for this issue, and this was the closest thread I can find.....???? Any ideas? I will try contacting them directly as well. Also looked at/changed settings in preferences. Thanks in advance for any help!

Try copying it to the internal sd and, make sure u have SU updated, happened to me on my tablet, didn't want to work until chainfire updated to be 2.14 I think. We are on 2.16.. don't have no issues since then.

I'm getting 'insufficent stg' too. I also noticed that the install did not make a TitaniumBackup folder anywhere. This is on the 21R update.

Go to preferences in Titanium backup and select "backup folder location"
then make sure it points to: /storage/extsdcard/Titaniumbackup OR
/storage/emulated/legacy/Titaniumbackup
Most any other location most likely will give you errors.
Good luck!

I've been all over the storage location function of TiBu. Change here change again change there, no joy. My point though is that it did not make the usual folder on install. Other apps that make a work folder don't seem to jab a problem doing so.
I'm thinking TB 6.2 and 21R are not happy together..
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app

The TiBu people apparently fixed the 'folder not created' problem, which also fixed the subsequent 'insufficient storage' problem. Ver 6.2.0.1 came out today.

Replacing uninstalled bloat APKs

In the event I want to do a system restore, I would, at this point, need to push back the APKs back to their applicable place.
Where exactly would that be?
Would the command just be adb push or adb copy blah.apk /path/to?
I'd like to have this as a thread for those looking for the same info, at least until an SBF is released.
I'm releasing a one-click unroot that restores all original files today. Standby.
That would be awesome. I'm having trouble restoring Backup assistant 2.3.4, Backup assistant client 1.0 and Guided Tours 2.3.4.
Titanium just hangs indefinitely...
Sweet.

Titanium Backup can't restore applications that don't contain a classes.dex, which is most of the /system/app/ folder. That's why I recommend my bloat removal script instead.
Wonderful... And I uninstalled it after I backed it up.
Pretty much there... still cleaning up some stuff...

I guess I could support /sdcard-ext, but is it really a problem to copy to internal?
Okay, first version of this tool, be kind and let me know if there are any problems with it.
Also: NO GUARANTEES. If it does something that breaks your phone, I am not liable. Use at your own risk. Etc., etc.

First of all Thank you a lot for writing this tool, I hope this can fix my problems. But I am currently having an issue where i get this message ERROR: /sdcard/d3unroot/ backup doesn't exist or is incomplete! I downloaded the folder system/apps folder that it told me to and extracted it into sdcard/d3unroot and mad sure it was on charge only, But I still get this error. any help would be greatly appreciated
Fascinating, I'm getting the same error. I assume we extract the file into d3unroot?
Do you have a linux version?

A lot of people are having a problem with this depending on the version of busybox installed, so I'm releasing a new version tomorrow that should address these issues. Hang tight, folks.
I ran your Root Tool's 5 times and it didn't work once. (trying to restore system apps)
I tried every different way of having the original system/app files on my SD Card/Internal Storage. Help please, or include better instructions

It's because it needs to be installed in /system/app
Try doing this
Instructions:
*You can try to install this .apk over top of your current market, but it may not work. If it won’t, then you will need to be rooted and follow the instructions below.
1. Download the file from above (Market-3.4.4.apk) to your SD card.
2. In Root Explorer, find the file you just downloaded and copy it.
3. Move into /system/app and hit the R/W button to mount – then paste the file.
4. Find Vending.apk and rename it to something like Vending.apk1.
5. Long press on Market-3.4.4.apk and rename it to Vending.apk.
6. Afterwards, long press on it again and choose “Permissions.”
7. Change the permissions to this:

Simple translate:
Error
An error occured, please try again.
I get build version 3.3.12 when doing that. is that correct?
I did the same. Then out of exasperation, within root explorer, I ran the APK, was prompted to overwrite my other system app, and I did it. I assume the fixed permissions had something to do with it, but it worked for me.
I noticed a huge difference in speed and loading, well done Google

Fix permissions, reboot. Still not working ? Must be kernel problem, not sure. Works for 90% of the people flawlessly.
Problems related to buying apps could be (not asserting) server side problems which many faced during sale.
Well I am running a Trinity kernel, which one do you recommend? I just want my market to work I changed permissions like said in the past posts

Try fixing permissions through Recovery or Rom Manager also.

First check the allow install from external sources in the security settings... Then go to tibu settings and search for the backup folder.. There's an option for it..

}
Then create a filter.. Choose the copied and the uninstalled
Then you can restore..

do note restore is not recommended in first post of cm9, where paranoid android is based on.
Apps only shouldnt be to much of an issue, but apps with data might cause some issues.

hey
i found i found the backup folder but why is their not a simple way to just restore the apps, i still dont know how iam meant to back them all up, this really is confusing. backing them up is so easy.
also iam dead confused now, i thought TB was safe to restore with data as long as you dont restore system data?
how on earth would i get all these apps back with my bookmarks etc?? lol
cheers.
you can restore, but when issues arise, its most likely because of that, so you know

Will it be issues with the app etc? Theirs only some apps that have data in them which would be good to keep. I still cannot find how to install my apps' I see nothing in restore in TB? Any help would be great. I thought my backup would just show up. I am running the free version btw
Thanks
I guess its batch restore, in app list pres menu button, should be there somewhere.
Or select app, then select restore in popup.
Issues could be:
lag
no deepsleep
force closures of apps
random reboots.
You probably wont get them but if you do, its likely because of restore

I used my backup pro as TB is just so confusing to me. I have apps back with data and all seems fine but I've noticed I cannot see a thing on my external SD card? The folder is empty for some odd reason. Now it manages to locate the folder in TB although I didn't use it to restore ' my sd card seems blank but it cant be as I never formatted a thing. Any idea??
All I did was flash rooted gb rom from stock ics and then installed cm9 rom and external SD is not
Shown in es file exploror
Cheers
yep, check folder mnt, check folders in there, one of them is your external sd
its mnt\emmc and not sdcard\externalsd anymore
They do it differently in cm9

[Q] Problems restoring apps & data using Titanium Backup

I just purchased a Mi Note Pro and am running the newest weekly MIUI build (rooted). I copied over my folder with all my Titanium Backup files from my previous phone. However, when trying to restore all my apps onto the Mi Note Pro, Ti Backup just hangs and no apps get restored.
Is this a known issue? If so, is it specific to this phone, or some conflict with MIUI? I have used this method in the past to transfer all my apps to a new phone, so I know it usually works. This is the first time I have tried using a Chinese phone and MIUI OS. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Same here, it didn't work on 5.8.20 build, and this morning I just clean-flashed the 5.8.27 ROM and same thing. When I try to restore an app, I just see the spinning circle and it hangs. Doesn't matter if it's a batch restore vs. single app, or whether it's app only vs. app+data. I am at a loss.

Try turning off unchecking Mount namespace separation in SuperSU and rebooting
I had the same problem.
I did the following:
1. SuperSU: Unchecked Mount Namespace Separation
2. Titanium: Changed App Processing Mode to Interactive
3. Rebooted
4. Ran restore
In Interactive mode, Titanium makes you manually do the app installations but it works. All my apps have been restored with backup data.
Device: Mi5
ROM: MIUI Developer Rom 6.10.13
Titanium: 7.4.0.2
SuperSU: 2.76

Need help with Layers Manager Update........ please

If anyone out there can help me, I'd really appreciate it.
I have a Nexus 6, Verizon, running Pure Nexus 5.1.1 (screenshot below)
I've been getting this irritating message for weeks now, stating the "Layers Manager" can't update via the Google Play Store. I don't know how to fix this and it's become quite annoying every night when I update my apps before bed.
Screenshot of said problem below.
I'm by no means an expert at ROM management, but I went from rooted stock to this ROM because I got tired of the google security update not working, due to my being rooted. I really like this ROM and this is the only problem I've had with it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

in the "what's new" section of the play page it says for error code 505 is caused when trying to update over the v4.3 beta #4 version being a system app. I can't remember 100% if pure nexus rom has it installed in such a way but essentially the error is fixed by uninstalling the old version and installing the new version.

Thanks so much for this tip.
I just tried uninstalling the app, but it won't let me. I went into apps-all-layers manager, but there is no uninstall option
yea since its error 505 its installed as a system app so you would need to use titanium backup or some other "debloating" tool to remove it. Make sure you backup your theme preferences inside the app so you don't have to resetup everything.
For titanium backup you would open the Backup/Restore tab and find the layers app in the list. First off hit the Backup! button so you'll have something to fall back on in case of problems, then hit the red Un-install button. It may ask for a confirmation. Then you should be able to go and install the google play updated version.
