If anyone out there can help me, I'd really appreciate it.
I have a Nexus 6, Verizon, running Pure Nexus 5.1.1 (screenshot below)
I've been getting this irritating message for weeks now, stating the "Layers Manager" can't update via the Google Play Store. I don't know how to fix this and it's become quite annoying every night when I update my apps before bed.
Screenshot of said problem below.
I'm by no means an expert at ROM management, but I went from rooted stock to this ROM because I got tired of the google security update not working, due to my being rooted. I really like this ROM and this is the only problem I've had with it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

in the "what's new" section of the play page it says for error code 505 is caused when trying to update over the v4.3 beta #4 version being a system app. I can't remember 100% if pure nexus rom has it installed in such a way but essentially the error is fixed by uninstalling the old version and installing the new version.

Thanks so much for this tip.
I just tried uninstalling the app, but it won't let me. I went into apps-all-layers manager, but there is no uninstall option
yea since its error 505 its installed as a system app so you would need to use titanium backup or some other "debloating" tool to remove it. Make sure you backup your theme preferences inside the app so you don't have to resetup everything.
For titanium backup you would open the Backup/Restore tab and find the layers app in the list. First off hit the Backup! button so you'll have something to fall back on in case of problems, then hit the red Un-install button. It may ask for a confirmation. Then you should be able to go and install the google play updated version.

Trying this now, thank you.
Will post update.
**UPDATE**
I tried what you said and it worked!
I uninstalled Layers via Titanium and then tried to update via Play Store, but got the same error. So I rebooted the phone, then went back into Play Store and it installed. Hopefully this will be a fix in the future. I don't know what Layers even is. I don't ever use it.
Thank you so much for your help!

Hello,
I have this strange problem.
I own a SGS, Vodafone locked, no hack, cooked ROM, etc installed...I used only Kies.
After upgrading to 2.2.1. (latest version available in Kies), all my installed applications stopped working. All applications were taken from market.
Default apps from Android work without a problem.
The error messages I get are:

I thought it was because I did something wrong in the update process.
I solved it by uninstalling and then installing again all my apps.
Few days ago, after changing the batteries (I have a spare one), I happened again, exactly the same.
So, can you please tell me if it happened to you?
Are there any solutions?
Should I write to Samsung?
Thanks in advance!
Anyone has an advice?
Very strange, are both batteries genuine?

May I suggest factory reset (back everything up first)

This problem is due to a lagfix!! Have you activated any? First you should try to flash another firmware...It MUST CONTAIN 3 FILES!

He had stated the phone is not hacked so I can't see it being a lagfix issue

It happened to me too, after taking out the battery because my phone got stuck. I managed to fix it with titanium backup, using the data restore option. But you need to have backups of the installed apps first...
Funnily it also happened on my galaxy tab, after it shutdown and rebooted by itself.
On my sgs and tab I installed Lbe security guard just a few days before. I think that's the culprit, but I don't have proof...
Uf, so it seems I am not the only one.
Here is the answer from Samsung, which does not help me at all.
Dear Mr./ Mrs.
Thank You for contacting Samsung Electronics Romania!
Regarding Your request , we inform You the followings,
The message you send us, appear due to a conflict from OS and the aplications.
To remove that mesages, we ask you kindly to make this steps:
1. Try to reinstall the aplications from Android Market
2. Make a Data Factory Reset, after you make a Back-up of your data , through Samsung Kies Application.
3. If the simptoms persist please contact our service center to verify your product :
Just make a factory reset and download the apps out of the market again and your problems will be solved.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Yeah, and when it happens again, I do a factory reset...on and on...
Make first of all app backup using titanium or mybackup, although i'm not sure if those are working without root. Or maybe try to root and flash Your phone with some custom rom and the flashing fun will begin! Warning it's very addictive...
If it happens again and again and even after factory resets you should flash a new firmware with Odin (use a PIT-file and tick Re-partition).
I'm on the CM9 alpha, & since they announced Google Play Store, I can no longer use the "market" website. It just says that my account doesn't have a device. But when I look at the error that says, "don't see your device," it says:
If you don’t have the Google Play Store app pre-installed on your device, contact your carrier or manufacturer for further assistance.

When I opened the app store this morning it updated me to play store automatically (i'm on aokp). So you can try to wait it out and probably get the update soon.
but to answer your question, that .apk should work.
So you just saw a notification that you were being upgraded or....? Market interface does look different for me, but I don't think the shortcut to launch it has changed.
Are you able to use the Market/Play website?
*Edit - I just fired up Market again to check & got a Google Play Store license agreement. I went to My Apps to check for updates, but still am unable to use the website (from my desktop - still "no device").

Don't try to install it. instead you need to paste it into your system/app folder with permission rw-r--r--. you might want to backup your old market apk just in case something goes wrong.
Mine has yet to update itself too. I found this. Probably going to update.
Just Wipe Cache of Market using Titanium backup and Re-launch it..
It will ask for License thingi.. Click Accept and You will get the Update soon..

I would like to know this as well.
Try the beta versions (test6), you can get it off the twitter page. I have a license, not sure if that is required for beta use of not. It works much better than the play store release on 4.4.4 and up imo

Here is the download link for the latest beta version of Titanium
backup, this will work with your existing "pro" key:
https://app.box.com/s/1opt1q2bnjl4oxd65ifg
This is a lot newer than what you find at the play store.
I have no issues or problems with Titanium backup.
Give it a try,
That's because the backed up folder is on legacy instead of emulated. Switch them around in preferences. Good luck

I have a slightly different issue...I can make 1 backup, maybe 2-5 adds for new apps/versions, and then I get error message "Batch backup interrupted: Insufficient free space." This has happened across 3 ROMs, uninstall/reinstall Titanium and pro key, wipe app data, delete backup/backup all apps, using root explorer to delete all Titanium files, update to newest version(6.2) from Titanium link in Twitter, and about every other thing I can imagine. Not a noob, and I have searched XDA for this issue, and this was the closest thread I can find.....???? Any ideas? I will try contacting them directly as well. Also looked at/changed settings in preferences. Thanks in advance for any help!
Try copying it to the internal sd and, make sure u have SU updated, happened to me on my tablet, didn't want to work until chainfire updated to be 2.14 I think. We are on 2.16.. don't have no issues since then.
I'm getting 'insufficent stg' too. I also noticed that the install did not make a TitaniumBackup folder anywhere. This is on the 21R update.

Go to preferences in Titanium backup and select "backup folder location"
then make sure it points to: /storage/extsdcard/Titaniumbackup OR
/storage/emulated/legacy/Titaniumbackup
Most any other location most likely will give you errors.
Good luck!
I've been all over the storage location function of TiBu. Change here change again change there, no joy. My point though is that it did not make the usual folder on install. Other apps that make a work folder don't seem to jab a problem doing so.
I'm thinking TB 6.2 and 21R are not happy together..

The TiBu people apparently fixed the 'folder not created' problem, which also fixed the subsequent 'insufficient storage' problem. Ver 6.2.0.1 came out today.

Uninstall and install all again. All other apps are up to date. Only thos one. My device is pure stock, no root. Please help me to solve this issue.

you wont be able to install it without root. it does not install like a regular app. you need to place it into either /system/app/ or /system/priv-app/ then reboot for it to install itself. stock you cant do that, with root you can.

I am curious why you want to update.
On my N6 Google app 4.1.29 etc is still working. Downgrade was necessary, else the Black Google Now launcher will become white instead of black.
Secondly I need to block Google app from updating.
Maybe you need to check your settings concerning auto updates.
Play store - My apps - Google app - above right 3 dots - auto update - check box.

updating it to 5.2 changes googles layouts for google now(more colorful and better tiles for info), and it changes your app drawerer to a side scrolling version, instead of the m up and down version. i changed mine yesterday to see what the big deal is. to be honest, google now looks much better.

I'll be honest to. I am using dpi 384. And the Black Google Now launcher. I love it and the drawer has also side scrolling.
I wish I had the power to kick Google's ass to make sure we get a marshmallow with a Light/Dark Material switch.
The problem did not dissapeared. I'd installed google app 5.2 manually and it works but in playstore it is still 5.1. Factory reset do not work
Playstore updated to new 5.9.11 and the problem solved. Thanks all. Please close the topic
Hi everyone,
i wanted to remove duplicate apps like com.android.google.contacts and com.android.contacts (same for calendar) thanks to EMUI.
I did it with adb following guides from the xda-forum.
Afterwards i realized my telephone-app / dialer was gone and i can't find a working apk of a google dialer.
Can someone provide me the official emui dialer apk or help out on another way?
Thanks guys!
first of all, you can flash stock rom to get everything back.... 2nd why not freezes the apps rather then delete them?
how does freezing the app work? I wanted to get rid of the double icons in my apps-drawer...

Sadly not for me, maybe it's a problem with my european version of the p20 pro
Well titanium backup kan freeze a app when youi have root but you need to do it in ADB if you dont have root.
if you're rooted with magisk, download and install google framework module. It'll allow you to install google phone app directly from playstore.
@aederson, Extract the contents of this zip folder to system/priv-app/Contacts. You will probably need to recreate the Contacts folder. After reboot you should have your dialer back if that is all that was deleted. The dialer is part of the contacts APK so you need it installed to keep the stock dialer. Please hit thanks if this works.
If you are not rooted you may be out of luck aside from performing a system recovery. You can uninstall system apps via adb without root but I haven't found a method of putting them back yet that doesn't require su privilege.
many thanks saskatoon. Same problem here. I think the last option is the factory reset .... or root...
