AWS Support? - Verizon LG G2

Hey guys can't seem to find a concrete answer. I read that an update has made Verizons G2 work with HSPA+ does this mean it will work on 1700/2100 frequency? I'm looking at a Unlocked G2 online right now, but my network only supports 1700/2100. So am I good ?

Replacement phone with TMO bands also?

Ok, I know this is an odd question but I am confident it can be answered here.
I want to buy another android phone, it needs to be something fairly recent that ATT still stocks at least online if not at the stores so I can use an upgrade.
And I want to be able to also use the TMO 3G system/frequencies with it.
I know the unlocked Captivate won't work on the TMO 3G system but does anyone know if any other phones have the proper radios to support both ATT and TMO frequencies when I swap out the sim card?
Just to reply to my own thread, after an hour or so of searching its looking like ATT phones currently available do not have the required 1700hz band that is needed for TMO 3G speeds.
I am hopingIi am wrong here and that someone knows otherwise.
I did find a few references to some TMO phones working on ATT bands but those obviously wont help me if I am trying to use an upgrade discount.
I was only searching current ATT phones so if someone knows of an older version let me know too.
Well I would recommend finding more concrete evidence on what freq Tmo has in your area and try this before buying but for example (acording to phonearena) Tmobile's Galaxy S 2 runs GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 same as ATT"s Galaxy S 2 (not skyrocket). TMO's Galaxy S runs UMTS 1700/2100, 2100 mhz. ATT's Galaxy S 2 (not skyrocket) runs umts 850, 1900, 2100 mhz. Meaning its possible to get edge, 3g and HSPA+ on att's Galaxy S 2 (not skyrocket) on Tmo. But That would depend on your area and how Tmo uses the different freq.
Edit: Its just an example but you can check more phones to see if any of them have overlapping frequencies.
So maybe there is hope.
I was under the impression that TMO needed 1700/2100 for 3G in my area as one was an upload and the other a download frequency.
What I did was pull up all the Android ATT phones I was currently eligible for and then typed the name into the xda search bar followed by 'tmobile'. That would usually take me to a thread in which someone was asking if that phone would also work on TMO 3G and it was invariably replied that they would only work on Edge with a TMO sim card.
I didnt check the GS2 or the Skyrocket though. I will do that today. Thanks for the reply. I knew there would be xda members out there that would have a better idea than me of how to find out.
I will do you a favor and check both of my gs2's with my wife's T-Mobile sim tonight.

Cool! Thank you.
A bit more research on xda says that there are some TMO phones ( Defy and Amaze 4G ) that work on the ATT 3G bands. That doesn't really help me much though. LOL.

i wouldnt put much hope into it. you might get lucky in that the skyrocket works on TMo, but its doubtful. i have never seen an AT&T phone work on Tmo's 3g

Skyrocket won't work. It doesn't have UMTS 2100 (Skyrocket runs on 850, 1900). The "Attain" (none lte) might because it has 2100.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299211
This thread says we are out off luck on this quest.
What I said. It might depending on the area. If where the OP lives Tmo uses the UMTS 2100mhz then he is lucky else he is SOL.
Edit: after finishing reading IF the phone uses 1700 for dl and 2100 for ul then ya tough luck D=

Wind optimus 2x p999 unlock to rogers

I just bought a Wind lg p999dw and I unlocked it with the octopus, and now I cannot get 3g data on a rogers sim. Can anyone help me out? I've been searching for hours. Some say its doable, some say impossible.

I think it's not possible, they use different networks, I know it because at some point I tried to activate an iPhone 3G with them and I would only get 2G signal... Don't know the details on the specs tho.

Hi,
I have a friend that has a CM7.2 Canadian Rogers O2x and they want it unlocked for Bell.
I myself know how to port ROMs, write guides, and do HTC S-OFF but I've never done a SIM unlock before and I don't know the method for anything other than HTC. I tried going on that Octopus Tool site but my computer said it was malware.
Thanks
Hey, so was anyone able to get the LG g2x p999 to work with Rogers 3G?
Sorry to say this, but you are out of Luck. The p999 only works on 3G on tge AWS band. It is disabled. A few of our members tried to re enable it, but it didn't work.
You can use it on Rogers, but only 2g

[Q] Is this possible to do?

To start with, kudos for this site. I have been reading it many times and am amazed at the community of developers around here.
Secondly, I searched but couldn't find my answer anywhere. And lastly, I apologize to the moderators if I posted this in the wrong place.
Anyway, here is my question: I have 2 HTC One right now, one is from Sprint and the other from AT&T. Here where I live, Sprint will only go on GSM networks but AT&T goes on the 4G LTE network. Both phones are unlocked since I am using them in Canada.
Is it possible to flash the Sprint phone with an AT&T Rom so I can force it to go on the 4G LTE network like my original AT&T does? I am in the impression that there are not many different phones except many carriers have specific bands that they use.
MAny thanks to those who will guide me in the right direction.

no you can't flash a gsm rom on to a sprint phone. sprint is cdma. you'll mess up or brick your phone.

You may want to list your specific carrier, but pretty sure Sprint's One only supports 1900MHz-band LTE.

This is correct. The sprint One will not be able to use AT&T's LTE on 700mhz.
Can't understand something.
I am on Virgin Mobile. When I use the Sprint phone, it says GSM as my connection. When I use my AT&T phone, I get either 4G alone or with the LTE symbol below it.
Both phones has the same menu when I do the *#*#4636#*#* so can someone explain why I can't get 4G on Sprint using the same SIM card?
I thought they only made one phone and added the rom that best suited the carriers.

Nope, it's much more than just software. There are several models of the One that HTC manufactures so they can optimize the antenna design to various regions/carriers.
The Sprint model can connect to the following frequencies (link):
2G/2.5G - GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G - UMTS/ HSPA: 1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 14.4 Mbps
3G - CDMA: 800/1900 MHz for Sprint
4G - LTE: Sprint: 1900 MHz

I wonder than why it doesn't connect any higher than GSM? I mean Virgin has roughly the same frequencies as Sprint if I go by the chart you provided. Never thought this was going to be that complicated...
Hope I'm not hijacking this thread, but I'm also interested in trying to flash a WWE rom (non carrier specific) to my phone, while I do have a sprint htc one. I reside in a region that only utilizes GSM so i don't need support for CDMA. Higher up in the thread someone stated that doing so would lead to bricking the device, but has anyone ever tried?
You can get psuedo-4g on gsm using the sprint model, you just wont be able to tell because it will only say gsm. 14.4mbps is the 4g you get with att unless it says LTE along with it, then you are connected to att lte.
The sprint model only has the LTE radio for sprints LTE in the USA. If you slid a tmo sim in your att phone, it wouldnt be able tp connect to LTE eother since they ise different bandz as well.
Hope that made sense

Yes, many have done that. A quick search in the general section will turn up several threads with a similar title of "I accidentally flashed a GSM ROM on my Sprint One and now it's bricked." The solution is to ruu back and you can get it working, but I WOULD NOT FLASH ANYTHING OTHER THAN A SPRINT ROM FOR A SPRINT PHONE.

So then...whats the problem you seem to believe sprints version is the only one without att LTE, when in reality, the inly one with att LTE is the att version.
You cant flash a tmo rom on your att version even though theyre both gsm.
You cant flash a verizon rom on your spribt phone even though theyre both cdma.
Like i told you, 14.4 mbps is HSPA aka "4g" on tmobile and att. And you keep saying "it only goes upto GSM". Do you even know what youre talking about? Put the sim in your sprint phone, you will get "4g" GSM speeds. Use an app like sppedtest to try it out. "4g lte" means you are connected to the lte network.
If you get wifi everywhere you go, i honestly dont understand the point of this thread.

Exactly. I don't even know anymore if I have had a straight answer or not!
I found a link somewhere on this site that shows Sprint phones in their lonely category. I guess it does look like the Sprint HTC One phone was made with leftovers, sort of the black sheep of the family.
I so wanted to be able to transform it in a 4G LTE working phone but now, it looks likes it's a pipe dream after all:crying:.

Also in preferred Network, in a ROM not stock, What setting are you using? LTE or 3G?
I'm on the 12b radio, running CM10.2, and the radio mode is global. I chose the fast.tmobile APN that was automatically added when I installed the SIM.
This speedtest was taken on Rt. 3 in southern NH:

I had caught a glimpse of LTE on Mahdi ROM when I first boot it. Didn't get a chance to test speeds in Miami. Soon as I setup my phone and reboot it , I lost it so I'm guessing it's spotty.
Using Radio 12B also and it's was on Global in Mobile Network.

Just curious - what bands does the verizon G2 NOT have compared to the tmobile version? I'm on tmobile, if I get the verizon version (which are all unlocked), is the hardware identical? Does the vzw version not have AWS hspa? I think my area has been refarmed for 1900 hspa anyways.

Outside of the bands, the hardware is the same except for the Verizon G2 has Qi Wireless Charging and smaller back buttons. Supposedly with the addition of Qi, the Verizon G2 is 1mm thicker, so beware if you use any time of feather/slim cases. Most will probably work except the slutty, barely-there cases.

I just got the G2 and wanted to keep the stock rom for a while until I got bored of it, but i'm not sure how to get the LTE working with tmobile. When I installed beanstalk it worked right away. I added the correct APN, but only showed H+ on stock rom.

I may be wrong, but I believe tmobile lte working is based on your location. Some areas are using a certain band that our phones can use.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did get LTE working if I use another rom such as CM or beanstalk. But once I put stock rom back on, or even modified stock rom, I can't get LTE. I can try again, but pretty sure it gave only H+.

Also, have you found a way to install drivers to your PC? Mine will not recognize the phone except as a MTP drive. In debugging mode, but can't get driver to recognize the phone. Help!!! This has to be a Verizon issue. Any specific instructions would be appreciated.

This is based on the international stock rom so T-mobile 4G works on it (just choose VS980 in the Aroma installer). It seems like Verizon stock Roms block bands that Verizon doesn't use, forcing you to rely on 2G or 3G.

Verizon Galaxy s6 4g not working on tmo network

I am pretty confident that is the issue but I thought I should check with you all first.
Seems that Verizon's unlocked SG6 does not support band 4 which is the 4g band of tmobile, and naturally I cannot get 4g. Everything else works flawlessly but I cannot get 4g at all. Using my SG5 I get 4g no problem but not with the SG6.
Can anyone confirm that this is the case before I return it to Verizon? I just got it today and thought it was an amazing piece of technology but I might have to return it now...

Why didn't you just get a T-Mobile version? Try going into the service menu *#2263# and go band selection and see if you can do it there.

Were you able to get LTE/4G on T-Mobile using Verizon S6? From the specs list, it says Verizon's S6 support band 13 and band 4. Band 4 is what T-Mobile uses for LTE.
I'm curious to find out because I am looking to purchase the Verizon S6 and use it on T-Mobile.
TIA
T-Mobile also uses band 2 LTE in some areas- something worth looking at.
