Hey there friends and devs. I have one big problem, some days before i was encrypt my device but now cant decrypt it. I cant flash new roms with TWRP recovery or update. Dont read my internal storage, dont have decrypt option like samsung galaxys.
Liquid smooth rom
Moto x xt1053
TWRP 2.6
I hope you can help me, regards from mexico.
The only way to "decrypt" is to wipe data and start over.

Hi All,
Looking for some assistance please; I'm planning to trade-in my HTC One for an upgrade to a HTC One M8 most probably. Retailer is happy to accept the phone with a custom rom on it, so it saves me the bother of returning fully to stock. Got latest ARHD rom onboard but still S-On and original firmware.
Want to free up as much of the Internal Storage/SD Card as possible before handing it over (we got them with 25Gb available out of the 32Gb didn't we), but afraid to hit factory reset in recovery in case it clears the entire storage including recovery files/partition etc and rom image etc, and therefore wont reboot properly.
What's the cleanest and safest way to maximize available space without losing key data/files please? All thoughts welcomed/gratefully received!

in your custom recovery choose wipe / and check everything but system ... that will wipe everything and the phone will still bootup and work fine
Use app like App2Sd or Link2Sd or system app remover. May be it will help to free up space by uninatalling unwanted apps or by movibg it to sdcard..

Hi, many thanks for your response! So I'm using TWRP 2.6.3.4 and options in wipe include the usual Dalvik, cache and data etc plus Internal Memory and System, so your saying I can check internal memory but not system and all will be well? Wont I need to put TWRP and Rob image files (and any others) back on afterwards? Thanks.

it won't erase your recovery or system .. that's all that's needed to boot the phone

Great, that's what I'll do then! Thank you. :good:
I have a problem with my sgs+ after trying to flash CM12 from adc. somehow i missed one of the wipe steps and the phone got soft bricked i believe. I could not find a solution apart from flashing an official firmware with odin cause nothing else was responding because of the following error:
THIS IS AN IMAGE BUT I CANT POST IT CUZ I dont have enough posts h t t p://i 6 2.t i n y p i c.c o m/2 8 a 2 6 x k . j p g
However when i used the official recovery somehow it mounted the sdcard. Because of my lack of experience in this domain i request your help if you are benevolent. Now i am unable of flashing a custom rom and the official 2.3.6 looks miserable.
First who reads this please post that photo as a reply so others can see it.
Strangely enough Root checker says the device is rooted but TWRP says it is not. It was rooted the same way before and TWRP worked.

I found out that there's a problem with custom recoveries. the original recovery is able to mount the storage whilst TWRP or CWM show only an empty folder called TWRP
SOLVED THANKS TO @nilac8991
Help guys....
I rooted my T-Mobile HTC m7 the other day and soft bricked my phone, followed xda forum posts to recover and flash a new rom, but now my storage nomally 32gb shows at least 8 gbs used already, and on my pc shows that i only have 25gb! Definately noob mistake, somewhere in installing xposed and getting the soft brick, I still cant figure out how to rid that darn partition! Anyways thanks.

The /system partition (the OS) and other firmware partitions (i.e /hboot, /boot, /recovery, /radio, /pg1(2)fs, /misc, /modem, etc etc... ) are taking about 8gb of space on your 32Gb emmc which will give the /data partition (the memory left for the user) about 25gb of space.
If you find a way to get more than 25gb, you'll be deleting some crucial partitions and your phone will not boot, so its not really advised
For your softbirck problem, did you tried to flash the xposed-uninstaller zip to disable Xposed? If your problem was caused by Xposed, disabling it with this zip should fix your problem, first thing you want to try before flashing something else. In the worst case you'll have to reflash your rom (stock or custom).

EDIT
You just have to know, that there are some ways to restore everything
In my Case I had Bootloader unlocked already (ofcourse)
And I just was stuck on the TWRP Part... I never knew that was soo easy, but you just have to do it properly.
I will make an extra Tutorial now, because it will save many people from going insane
Because of this I didn't sleep for 40 Hours now already, because I was deeply shocked and some very very nice Pictures and important Communications would be gone... and much work in Optimization etc. etc.
Yes!
Link will follow here!
Here you go for the Solution!

Hi,
I just tryed to update from beyond rom 5.2 to 5.8 and so I flashed it...
Then I got a Bootloop, because I didn't updated TWRP before.. so I got into my TWRP and flashed TWRP...
But after that I could not got into TWRP anymore, maybe because I forgot to add multidisabler..
So I flashed stock rom...
However Iam now stuck... I have important Data on the Internal SD and also the backup,
But I only come to the points where it asks me to delete all my data.
Is there any way possible to get the data?
Install TWRP somehow or get to a system?
Please suggest whats possible?
It's an emergency...
Hope you can help me & all who have this problem one day.
Best regards
I can only get to standart recovery, normal firmware & system doesn't boot - Bootloop...
I tryd to flash older firmware (ASH1, ASG8 & newer ASK1), but it doesn't boot system, always ask to factory reset and so on....
really ****ed up...
I hope there is another Way, then directly extract the data from the memory component... wich would be very expensive...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXDUhhyY2rE
basically the new flashed standart rom erases itself after first start, probably because it detects, that the system was modified before (beyond rom) then it reboots itself and there is no system anymore to boot, then it goes in a kind of pre recovery with the option to reboot, factory reset (including all data!) or reading a log...
DAMN I SHOULD BACKUP EVERYTHING ON PC... ALWAYS!
Still I really want to find a solution and I hope some pro can help on the S10.
No Solution for this.... it seems.
Omg i found the solution and got everything back
yes!!!! Great stuff

Happy to hear you solved... But after reading your other thread and after all of this excitement i still don't get how you solved the problem.... can you specify it?
Hello dear community, I hope someone can help me. I probably made a big mistake when I unlocked the boot loader on my moto G2. I suspect that all my apps and data are gone now? After unlocking and restarting the phone, I noticed that the startup process was not as usual. I then switched off the phone directly. Are my apps and data really gone now?

Yes. Unlocking the device will wipe everything except external SD.
It's basically like a factory reset.

Thanks for your reply Wolfcity, although it is very painful. Are there any tools with which a rescue would be possible, such as Testdisk, PhotoRec, Foremost, Scalpel, ...?
The Smatphone is actually equipped with a memory card (SAMSUNG Evo Plus, 64 GB, Micro-SDXC). I would be very grateful for suggestions on data recovery.
In case it is still important that Motorola has Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the memory card is formatted as internal memory.

As you're not rooted there are very few apps that can backup your stuff like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackupPro
There are ways to do it with ADB commands, just google it.
As you said you restarted your device after the unlocking procedure there won't be anything to save....
About your SD card formatted as internal storage: I never did that but I would think that data stored there will be erased too.
