Have you noticed any differences from your older firmware?

Quite interesting. I currently have my phone with the firmware G800FXXU1ANG7 rooted by using cf-auto-root-sm_g800f-kminilte-xxu1ang7.tar.md5 as suggested in this post and I'd like to upgrade to G800FXXU1ANJ2. Could you please tell me whether to do it the following steps are correct?
Download the firmware G800FXXU1ANJ2 from sammobile (question: which one should I download? I am in France but not with SFR)
Install it by following the standard instructions
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin zip-file
Open Odin v3.09
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
Root the device by using cf-auto-root-sm_g800f-kminilte-xxu1ang7.tar.md5 with the same file and instructions of this post namely
Download Mode: (VolDn+Home+Power, VolUp)
Odin PDA (AP): cf-auto-root-sm_g800f-kminilte-xxu1ang7.tar.md5
Auto Reboot
Last question: is it advisable to end the installation process by installing TWRP as indicated in this post instead of reflashing the original stock recovery as suggested in the rooting instruction?
Thank you in advance
@castagna
The tools for rooting and recovery are working only in .....ANG7 firmware.
I tried update firmware ......ANJ2 and I was constricted to reinstall ......ANG7 to use root and recovery.
Hi. I am rooted and received update notification Over the air. If i update what will hapen? Only loose root? Will it update without problem?
No root for anl1?
Flash the original CF Auto Root from Chainfire with Odin.
http://download.chainfire.eu/523/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-kminilte-kminiltexx-smg800f.zip
I also have ANL1. It works... :good:
Will try. I do not remember. Flash with what option?

Tried to update ota but it does not install. I get error.should i remove root before via su?
Yes you have to remove Root over SuperSu.
If you have a Custom Recovery (TWRP) flash also the original Recovery.
Now you can download OTA.
During Installation, it could also fail with error String.
This happens if you have previously changed many Things in the System.
I've made two Updates. The first went through well.
In ANL1 it has always stopped at about 30%.
When that happens you can flash the complete Firmware via Odin
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-G800F
Look at the correct Version for your Country or Carrier.
Thanks. With complete Flash it will erase all data?

You always loose root after flashing stock firmware! Should have flashed it with MobileOdinPro.
If you want root again, downgrade to a directly rootable rom (all versions till KL7) and reroot it with CFRootIntitialFlasher by Chainfire, thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784

idk why, but the doomlord zerg v4 i used to root before won't work.

If I reflash KK2 would it keep all my stuff (contacts, apps, settings) or it will be as format?
Is there any other easier methods to root the LA1 or wait for it?
Iam new with Samsung and Odin, and read somewhere that mobile Odin will intact the 0 flashing (or something means that)
And also read that all flashing can be done via windows Odin (easier for me to deal via pc than mobile screen size)

No LA1 cannot be rooted directly unless you don`t care about raising the binary flash counter. I think KK2 is a wipe rom so yes you will losse everything on your internal disk, so copy the entire disk with windows task manager and put it back after you flashed KK2.
Odin can only be used with stock firmware, kernels or csc files, not custom files.
And try to read up about rooting, flashing and such things. There are threads enough around here.
Good luck

according to what I understood from you so far:
1 - I will reflash the Original stock rom KK2 by PC Odin
you said that KK2 will wipe my mobile and I should make a backup for my internal disk, So, Sorry to ask: what is this (windows task manager) and how to use it?
2 - I will root the KK2 same way I did last time
3 - I will flash the new update LA1 via Mobile Odin and it will keep my root and CWM
Does Mobile odin come in free or paid?

1. yes reflash KK2 using PC odin, I dont know wether KK2 is wipe version, if it is wipe, even you won't lose data on internal SD card, no meaning to take backup with window. If you want to backup your installed app + data, you must have Root.
alternatively you can choose non wipe version to reflash (e.g. KL3 india) it won't delete anything.
2. You have to Root Your relashed ROM (you can find how to Root guide on my signature)
3.Mobile Odin Pro is paid. Dont want to pay for mobile Odin Pro/ unable to purchase it, you can get Root + CWM, then update LA4 using CWM ( you may get installation guide link from my signature)
I will recommend to read all 4 links(first 2-3 post) on my signature, you will find answer of most of your questions
what if i tried to root my new ROM (LA1) using doomlord rooting kit, failed, and then downgrade it to KL3?
can i still use the doomlord easy rooting kit?
i tried this few times yesterday, but it still won't get rooted.
Ok, I reflashed by PC Odin my original stock rom KK2, and it was not wipe, I found everything is intact
But when I tried to root + recovery like before, did not work although I get on the screen (all done) but after reboot no root or CWM
I reinstalled Kies but still alot of errors when trying to do the rppt only or root+CWM
What should I do?
is there any way that I can wipe my phone and start as fresh as I can? what I did is :
boot to recovery and chooses wipe cache partition and Factory reset, it is all or there is something else can be done?
Edit : The wipe did it, and I have root and CWM now

Turn off your antivirus temporarily as it removes some components of your rooting tool which causes the error message.

Hello everybody.
I have a problem in my gt-N7000.
I tried to install the CM10, install normal.
I installed Gapps also normal.
When I went to wipe it crashed.
Now no more enters recovery mode, download mode only.
When I turn it only gets in this mensage:
"Formware upgrade ancountered an issue. Pease select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
I've tried to pass other Stock Roms via Odim, but always hangs Odim.
I do not know what else to do, will my phone still has solution?
And have you tried that recovery mode in Kies?

1. I don't know what you mean by this.? The was was not rooted or some one else rooted it for you?
2. The place where odin is stuck could indicate a brick. So you need to be precise in the info you give.
3. Did you use cwm.zip to install the rom directly on a non rooted phone?
If ODIN is working for you,
Get your mobile flashed with Philz Kernel by putting the TAR file on PDA.
Enter Philz Kernel in recovery and flash a ROM of your choice.
If you can't then u r a superbrick.

Sorry for my english, I'm using google translation.
I was using the official version 4.0.3, so I entered the reovery and installed CWM and the file to the Root. Shortly thereafter, without restarting the phone installed the CM10 and then the gapps. When I do the Wipe the phone crashed.
Since then, officials have spent several Roms by Odin and all lock.
I do not know if I was very clear on the information, but now the phone is locked it sansumg logo. And when he enters recovery does not wipe, lock and resets the device.
Again, sorry for my english.
So you have flashed cwm.zip and the the root file and then on the same temp recovery, wiped.? That is serious mistake and it seems a brick.

EDIT: Anyway, also if you put the modem on AP (or PDA on v3.07), the modem flash correctly (tested by doing it as a mistake!!)... For your information, when a new rom is released, I always unpack the firmware to clean the package from recovery image (this to avoid to reflash TWRP), so I can prepare easyly and fastly the modem and bootloader tar.md5 files... if you need, ask me and I'll provide them... I prepare always tar.md5 that has self-checksum control when opened on Odin

I suggest to use the v3.07, not the last one v3.09... In my dev teams, we tested and seems that older one is more stable than the last... here the link for v3.07 (in case someone need): https://mega.co.nz/#!pVwUEaqK!QWtWKBNrBklhmVDY1hOjJGC8nr6GEjy4qEVvhTbDrRs

Thank you for your reply. I tried 3.04, 3.07 and 3.09 all with the same result. It flashed, said "passed" but Baseband didn't change. I found out that I lost root somehow (maybe through the last update of the ROM?). I re-rooted and then I could flash the modem with V3.04. Thank you so much!

I'm glad I helped. If you updated the ROM, you lost for sure the root... anyway from now I think you can flash with Odin the new future Modem without issues... you know how to do it!!

Weird, after I did the whole reroot thing, I installed the latest CM12 nighty, had random reboots like many others I found out later. Root still worked. So I did a factory reset, flashed an old version (from 22nd) and lost root again. Never mind, thank you again!

Download 6.0.1 latest firmware, archive it, get .tar file, open odin, choose PDA, choose firmware 6.0.1, put your device into download mode, connect your device to computer, press Start and get some coffee. Done
Lose all data btw, backup all before doing.
thank you bro..
i have downloaded the file which has .tar format at the end but when i want to select the file in odin it doesnt show up there.

Flashing the .TAR file in ODIN does NOT delete your data, I have owned many upon many various Samsung Devices.. Flashing the .TAR.MD5 updated your device and retains all DATA.. You just have to reflash a custom recovery and inject root again..

You could go to your local humane society and adopt a service animal "Just in Case"
You can flash a TAR file via odin and your Data will be safe, including internal storage..
Your system partition will be the only thing that will change..
I do this several times a day while trying out versions of my custom ROMs.. No damage will come to your data..
If you don't warn them, they will get in trouble if they flash a wrong rom. And then, where to find data? Good or bad, "Just in case" is a best thing that everyone in this forum always does.

Bro did you manage to update without any problems. I am in the same boat however after a factory reset I don't have root access but I still can't receive updates due to modifications . I'm worried updating might re-lock my device (Carrier Lock).
did it get re-locked?

Hi guys,
I have a note 5 SM-N920C, tried to install stock firmware but i forgot to turn FRP off.
I have a soft bricked device now and I've tried flashing by Odin, using diferent versions but its still not coming up. I'll attach pictures of the error messages
Thanks for your help in advance
I had the same problem, but I solved it. Flash stock recovery (Odin), full wipe, after that, i flash the last stock rom for my Note 5 ( N920G) and smartphone back to live. I don't no if this resolve your problem, but for me, everything is ok now
About stock recovery, I extracted from the official rom (With Winrar), converted to .tar (tar-Tool_Odin3-v3.10.7) and flash by Odin.

1)Which Type Of Error ur getting exactly while flashing through Odin? Like At what step it stucks? Can u plz elaborate as couldn't find ur error attachments
2)Try To Flash The Latest Available Firmware For Your Country And Device Model Number Through Odin
3)Latest in the sense if your Country And Device Model Number didn't get 7.0 Nougat update Yet then Download and flash latest dated 6.0.1 firmware with latest PDA/Bootloader/CSC Version OR If Your Country And Device Model Number Already Got 7.0 Nougat Then Also Flash Latest Dated 7.0 Firmware Which On The Top To Download With Latest PDA/Bootloader/CSC Version Through Odin
4)You Can Follow Steps From My Thread To Flash The Stock Firmware Through Odin To Overcome Some Errors
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/general/guide-odin-flashing-stock-firmwares-t3634256
Download the latest rom of your model (N920C)
Extract only the "recovery" file with Winrar or 7zip
Convert the "recovery.img" file from .img to .tar (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446269)
Flash "recovery.tar" with Odin
After entering recovery, full wipe
Then flash last firmware for your model

Thank you guys so much. I've flashed but I'm back at the google authentication screen. I used the Nougat update and it worked, stroke of luck actually.
Tried the marshmallow firmware after extracting and it didnt work, i then replaced it with the Nougat firmware and restarted my phone into download mode and it flashed, Didnt have to press start.
Anyway, I could bypass the FRP for my phone will be appreciated thanks
To bypass go to development option and switch fap off

I have done this over and over and have not been successful.. Would this work with an older or the original firmware? Are there firmwares for the Note 5 that already have the FRP off?
Is there an online service that actually works? If not I have to send my newly purchased soft brick into a Samsung Service Center and for 100 bucks get it fixed..
This is by far the most asinine thing I have ran into in a 25 year tech career

You need use the last firmware for your device, you can try flash last firmware with odin or flash some custom rom, i don't know if work with custom rom, but you can try.
