You shouldn't be having battery calibration issues with these new devices, run the battery all the way down until it dies, then charge (untouched) back to 100%, should cure any issues.

No need to delete the battery stats, the battery stats file gets deleted
and renews itself each time you power off the phone and restart it.
Good luck!

Anybody that has used this app.. I charged to 100%, clicked on Calibrate, then unplugged. But at about 50% battery an app caused my phone to freeze and couldn't even power+up+down reset. I pulled the battery. Do I have to start over with the calibration? There isn't any indicator on the Battery Calibrator app.
I don't think so
Just read that all these programs do is delete a batterystat file somewhere and Android will rewrite it at times. Thx.

You can clear the battery stat logs in CWR too.

Couldn't you just clear the battery stats in CWM? Or is that entirely different?

Think you guys are talking about he same thing. If what I read about Battery Calibrator is correct then I guess I could just go to CWM and clear the battery stats. Good Call!!!
It is the same

Is it better to clear them when the battery is dead or fully charged? Or does it matter?

You should only do it when fully charged. Charge your phone to 100% then leave it plugged in for another 20 minutes, till it's at around 4200mV. Delete batterystats.bin and it will be replaced during reboot.
Edit: the issue is that your battery will drain in cwm even while plugged in. Battery Calibrate does the same thing only without having to go into cwm.

Is it needed to recalibrate the battery each time you flash a new rom?
Does it increase battery life?

Just wanted to see what you guys thought. I have the official extended battery (albeit purchased from Ebay). I’ve had my Bionic for about 8 weeks now and my battery life has started getting progressively worst. I checked for any rogue apps eating away battery life and all seems to be well. On average it’s lasting about 6 hours with moderate use. Here’s the breakdown:
Cell Standby: 43%
Phone Idle: 40%
WiFi: 8%
Display: 5%
Bluetooth: 5%
Voice calls: 3%
4h 53m 47s on battery with 20% remaining.
My phone is completely stock, not rooted. It’s also been running a bit hot lately, right now with no use it’s running @ 39c/102f. It also takes about 3 hours to completely charge on the stock battery.
According to the system my battery health is good as well. Any ideas? I can’t find the stock battery so I would have to purchase another one to compare.
I like to use the Watchdog app to see if there are any apps eating up my battery. Maybe it'll help you. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zomut.watchdoglite

I remember an issue where your phone just scans and scans the sd card. You'll need to save everything to your comp. Format. Then put it all back. Should be good then.

That sounds likely. I did format the sd card and the battery has been better over the past 6 hours. Still testing though. I thought it was the battery. Guess not.

Battery has been much better since watchdog. I had a system process sucking my battery dry using nearly 50% CPU non stop. It was related to my SD card.

Watchdog just helped me isolate the problem. It does include a task killer though.
This happened to me as well. Shortly after getting the extended battery my battery life was worse than the standard battery. Mainly cell standby eating battery under usage stats. This was mis-leading. I used an app called System Panel to isolate the issue to the external sd card, which led me to a corrupt movie file. Deleted the file and reloaded movie. Have had excellent battery life since then :^)
can you format the sd card straight from the phone, does it matter? I've also had worse battery life since popping in my micro sd so i unmounted it for now

Yes under settings/storage/unmount sd card then click format. I actually formatted my internal memory and sd card last night. Battery life has gotten much better since then.

Would it work to just copy the battery stats file to another rom so u don't have to re calibrate everytime u install one or would that be a bad idea

You don't need to calibrate, just charge it full. Battery stats are automatically wiped when you unplug with a full charge.

It shouldn't affect battery. I've tested it myself, battery life before and after calibration is no different. This calibration myth was debunked by a google framework engineer.
Sent from my XT860 using xda premium
ya I read a short thing on that. Kinda odd though. Seems like sometimes u could get a worse battery life some days compared to others. But it also seems like a good idea since u don't have to calibrate every time u do something.

The calibration has nothing to do with the battery life, it just gives a more "exact" reading of the battery level.. I miscalibrated my battery once, and it was at 1% for about 3 hours, then finally died..

Sent from my XT860 using xda premium
I have now been convinced that there is no reason to calibrate your battery at anytime. Google engineer pretty much put it to rest and since then I have flashed repeatedly and all that changes is the ROM , sometimes battery is bad and other times its great. CM9 is best so far. Until we get new kernals our battery won't ever be great.

Ya reading through the comments it seems batterystats.bin has nothing to do with the displayed battery level, but rather just what is using the battery. The displayed battery level comes from kernel level

Same, although not for 3 hours but 15min heavy load (720p mkv). Which normally kills 10% battery.
After calibrate it never happened again and died right after 1%
I some up this morning and saw my battery was at 88%, it has bin on charge all night how can I fox this so it charges to 100%?

"some up"? Ok... go to CWM->Advanced->Wipe Battery Stats ... if doesn't work, do a full wipe or reflash ROM, you are using...
Woke* auto correct lol, and o do this after every ROM flash and this wouldn't affect that anyway, its not done it before, only to 98% or something but I read that it does this it will reach 100% the stop charging to preserve the battery, but dropping to 88% is a bit extreme I think I'm losing like an hour of battery life

This is a calibration problem caused exactly by you wiping your battery stats, you need to leave them alone and after each flash do a full empty to full charge cycle so the stats can provide proper calibration statistics, I have never wiped battery stats in 2 years of owning my phone
I always do this after a wipe, wait till fully charged>wipe stats>discharge fully>recharge fully
Sent from my GT-I9000 running remICS-UX using XDA premium
Ok, I know the point you are making but I personally think it does more harm than good.... Does it drop straight down the moment you remove the charger?
I don't know if it might be a battery problem, or if the CM9 Nightly build I'm currently on holds a charge really well, but sometimes I charge my phone up to 100%, then after about 30 minutes of continuous, non-stop usage, the battery is still at 99%.
Is this odd behaviour or is it normal?

No it only charges to 88% unless I remove charger then plug it back in again then it will charge to 100%, I think its because the phone charges to 100% then drains then charges, but I think its failing to start charging once it drops to a certain limit (say 10%) so normally it would charge to 100% drop to 90% then charge to 100% so it doesn't damage the battery, but as I said I think its failing to start charging again so it just keeps falling... I need a fix for this? And yes it is a cm9 base

I've always been wondering: is it possible to "damage" the battery or lose some of it's juice by doing wipe battery stats to many times?

You should try an app called better battery stats, it'll help you isolate what rogue app is possibly causing your drain. It's not a battery saver app, it's a diagnostics tool more or less
