[Q] Is anyone getting awful bluetooth reception? - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

I have a pair of bluetooth earbuds that I use when I'm on the go, and ever since I got my new turbo, they have been constantly skipping and stuttering when I try to listen to music. It's totally ridiculous, the devices are only two feet away from each other, at most! Is anyone else having similar issues?

Hmmm, I wonder if it's motion based. I'm sitting in my room listening to it now and it's a lot better. Unfortunately that doesn't really solve my problem, though.

Rixanu - I think you're on to something... I'll give my "story" and hopefully someone a little more savvy than us can help figure it out.
I switched over from the good ole Galaxy Nexus about a month ago. No major complaints on the Turbo yet as we await Lollipop, with the exception of this Bluetooth issue. I have the Bluetooth paired in the car, and a set of headphones - music and everything worked perfectly on the GNex through the Bluetooth. Now, primarily, it's often choppy (mustic anyway) - for reference, when listening to music I listen via Google Play (all access or whatever they call it now). I figured the choppiness was related to the fact that the music was being streamed since most wasn't downloaded yet, but after very limited experimenting, I believe it must have to do with the physical Bluetooth radio. I had noticed in the past that when the music streams perfectly, a lot of times if I pick it up to check an email, text, etc., it becomes choppy, but thought that was strange since the RAM should be more than sufficient to multitask without choppiness. On my way home from a friend's, I played around and stuck my hand over various parts of the back of the phone, and would press the phone against my pant, etc., and could effectively interfere completely with the connection such that it would be only silent, and not even choppy. Yet, while the music wasn't playing, the track continued to playback on the device and when the music would pick up after I moved the phone, it would be 10 seconds or whatever later as if it had been playing straight through the whole time.
I haven't tested this theory too much yet, but I think combined with your issue, there's certainly something there. Unfortunately, I frequent these parts in order to find answers to these types of issues and don't have the solutions myself.
Do we have lemons, or is this issue prevalent?
I'm happy to provide more info to anyone that can help.
Thanks in advance!

I was having the same problem. It was so bad Bluetooth was completely unusable. I contacted Motorola and they sent me the following steps to try. I worked perfectly. Good luck.
Dear Michael
Thank you for contact Motorola tech support, i send to you the steps you have to follow up to clear the cache for you Driod turbo
Before you do the Wipe cache, please un pair the Blue tooth devices and forget it for the phone, after you do that follow the steps and do the wipe cache.
This will remove any temporary files that may be causing the problem, but will not delete your files or settings.
1. With the phone powered off, press the VOL DOWN KEY for 2-3 seconds then POWER key then release.
2. The device will display different BOOT OPTIONS
3. Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL to Recovery and VOL UP Key to select (I think he meant POWER to select)
Tip: If the device reboots, you may have waited to long to make a selection, you will need to begin the process again.
4. The device will display the Motorola logo and then the Android in distress ( logo with Exclamation mark)
5. Press and hold the VOL UP key for 10-15 seconds. While still holding the VOL UP key tap and release the POWER key
Tip: You can try this step, holding the phone in landscape. If you are stuck on step 6, try a force reboot by pressing the Power key and Vol Down key, and start the process again.
6. The device will display additional menu options (Text will appear in BLUE)
7. Use the VOL DOWN Key to scroll to wipe cache partition and the POWER Key to select this option
8. The device will then perform the partition wipe
9. The device will reboot and start the normal power up sequence
Answer Title: Clear Cache Partition

I think Bluetooth stinks. Poorly implemented, stupid pairing issues, and poor quality. I have had very little success with Bluetooth on any device I have had.
Sent from my XT1254 using XDA Free mobile app

Found a Fix for the Stuttering BT issue. It's the dumb kernel on 5.02 that stutters the playback as soon as screen is off. I used a partial wakelock so the cpu stays active after screen off with this app. It works. No more stuttering. As for speakers that require high sample rate I just switched the cpu governor to performance. It's a workaround but the partial wakelock should work especially on bluetooth headphones. Here's the app's link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.wl&hl=en

Every time I drive away from my house and the phone loses wifi signal, the bluetooth skips really bad during the transition. Once I get far enough away, it usually clears up again. For my situation, it seems the wifi radio is somehow interfering with the bluetooth signal.

[FAQ] - Known bugs & issues for the HTC ONE (M7)

Like every other device on the market, the HTC ONE is not perfect, both at device and software levels it is likely that some glitches and hitches will be discovered, this is exactly the place to report those bugs. It is important here to distinguish between a bug from the device and a bug from an XDA ROM developer, the latter case must be reported in the appropriate topic and not here.
Confirmed or Known BUGS:
BUG : I find that on the odd occasion my back button or home button becomes dead.
SOLUTION : Have a read HERE
BUG : Beats causes a hissing background noise, most noticeable at low volumes.

I find that on the odd occasion my back button or home button becomes dead. This usually fixes itself immediately when shifting to another screen or something. A minor inconvenience.
Other than that I've not experienced anything else.

o2 v1.27 firmware
I had a weird issue in the car the other day
I was using the USB plugged into a Fiat 500 which has the Blue & Me system. I wasn't particularly bothered about having sound through the speakers, I just wanted to charge.
The stereo turned on anyway, and I was having random directions given through the stereo, with the Highlight Video music in between!! And then the ACTUAL directions coming through the phone speakers. I just turned the stereo off but it was really weird
Martin
I've had problems with random restarts and WiFi not connecting/WiFI settings freezing. Not allowing WiFi to be switched off during sleep seems to have cured it.
HTC One M7 speaker
I got my new HTC one the othe day from Harvey Norman and I have noticed that the bottom one of the two speakers cuts in and out and if you press on it then it works, but this is for all audio has anyone had this issue or know why it is happening?
Thanks
I got my HTC One last week and the wifi signal is really weak. When I am at 5mt from the hub (virgin media) I bearly have a signal.
My boyfriend's Xperia Z (with known wifi issues) has more signal at the same distance.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Phone in pocket after call
I am surprised no one has reported this annoying bug:
1) Have the phone in the pocket
2) Listen to music via the provided headphones (same if you use bluetooth)
3) Someone calls you and you answer via headphones button
4) After you or the other party hangs the phone, the phone turns on in the pocket.
VERY annoying!!! Please report this bug to HTC (I already did)
Otherwise I just LOVE this phone!!!
Problems charging phone and file transfers.
Ive had my HTC One for just over 2 months now. Havent had any issues besides the back button not responding. But just the last few days out of the blue, i am unable to charge my phone using the provided htc micro usb cbale that came with the phone to charge my phone. Keeps saying to use supported cable or doesnt detect my phone at all. It wont even charge through the wall power point using the adapter and cable provided. Ive attempted using other micro usb cables from previous devices and still no luck. Only way to charge my phone is using the extend battery pack. But have to restart my phone before charge otherwise it wont detect usb connection.
I also unable to copy and transfer files from my phone to pc also due to the usb cable and detection issue.
Has anyone else here experienced the same issue?
If so,how did you resolve the issue?
ive contacted HTC Support and still waiting on a response.

Sounds like you have accidentally bent some pins in the connection, potentially hardware not software related. I'd return for exchange.
2G connection issues
I have no idea whether its my ONE's problem or of the connection provider........ I cant use my 2G connection, it connects and disconnects at its will........Is there any way to test whether my ONE has any problem?
Strangeness with touch screen sounds
I may be the the only one.... but I like a click sound when the touch screen is presssed for a command. This works alright on my Sensation (pyramid) but not on my new HTC (M7).
There is sometimes a very very faint noise about a second or more after touching the screen for a command, kind of a delayed reaction? Anyway no amount of tweaking volume controls or using any sound mod produces a decent loud click sound. I revert any tweaks after experimenting with them.
Setup; HTC M7ul - ARHD ROM (12 currently)
Any information on this would be gratefully received!
This has been annoying me for the past week...

Push Bug (Whats app, sms), htc stay in standby
Hey,
I'm new here and i hope, this is the right forum for my problem
I bought me a htc one a few days ago, and i've already root it, unlocked the bootloader, set it s-off. my recovery tool is twrp-2.6.3.3, and i have the ViperOne 4.3.0 with ElementalX-m7-10.10.1. for the rights management i use LBE_Security, exactly this Version: LBE_Security_RC_5.1.5446_A1_EN_VI_1st_12.20.2013.
Sometimes, 2-4 times/day, if i write with somebay via sms or whats app, and my handy is in standby and i get the message, my handy vibrates and the LED blinks green, and when i try to unlock it, with double2wake or logo2wake, my handy vibrates, but my display still is black, like it is still in standy. Music works, i can turn the volume higher or lower, and i can keep klicking the power button or double2wake or logo2wake, but my display didn't react. It only vibrates, wenn i click use double2wake or logo2wake. i have to click the power button and the lower-sound button to reboot my handy.
First i thought, maybe it is the kernel, because i used undervolt 800 and max cpu 1890mhz, so i install viper new and the kernel new, but without undervolt etc., everything stock. But the bug is still there. i have the same bug, if i start the camera app and close my htc via the power button, but without closing the camera app, the bug is there, too. this is something i can live with, but not the problem with push messages.
And i don't know how to contrain the apperance of the bug. yesterday i installed everything new, and i install lbe security master, too, but i think, i forgot to give him superuser right, because today apps pushed me things, but they weren't allowed to do this. maybe it has something to do with the bug, but today i realised it and set lbe as a superuser and then the bug appeared again. before that the bug didn't appeared. maybe it was coincidence, i don't know.
all i know, is that the bug has something to do with sms and whats push, and i'm not 100% sure, but i think it's not the fault of the kernel elementalX. Maybe it's LBE or Viper Rom's fault, or may something else.
Do somebody please help me? This bug is very annoying me and i don't know android very well, it's my first android phone.
And excuse me for my bad englisch, i am from Germany and i wasn't good in englisch in school

Sounds like you've set your minimum frequency/screen off to too low, increase it to around 800Mhz and see whether you face the same problems again.

There's a fix for the camera bug in Venom Hub/Addons/Other
Thank you for your answers
@spiralOut
Thank you, this add-on fixed the camera bug, I hope, it fix the other too
@n1234d
Do you mean the undervolt option during the elemtalx kernel installation? Because first I choose 800kHz, now I choose stock, I think the stock is higher than 800, right? And the bug still appeared.
And what I forget to say: I used the swift option from HTC, that i can write with swiping on my keyboard, maybe this has something to do with the bug, now today I deactivated it.

Help, Walkman randomly plays music on its own

A few times now, the Walkman app runs itself and starts playing out of the blue. That usually happens during the most inappropriate situations (eg: in a business meet).
The facts I noticed so far:
- The phone hasn't been used for over an hour,
- During that time, it is in my pants' pocket (never happened when on a desk or in a jacket etc. no matter for how long),
- The sound is lower than the one I set before (I don't hear the phone playing on the street or any slightly louder surroundings),
- The Walkman isn't run in the traditional sense: it only appears in and plays from Notification area, with no app's main screen active.
Now, I'm really not sure how can a program run itself when there's no scheduler of any kind, there isn't an HW key-press combination set to run it, no lockscreen shortcut, the earphones aren't connected, or anything remotely close to any of that. Before the problem occurs, Walkman is positively totally shut down via back button and even from within the task switcher.
I've recently updated the program to v8.4.A.3.1, but described problem predates that (not sure which version was before, whichever came with .205).
The only way the application runs is via:
- Lockscreencontrols
- Widget on homescreen
- Application itself when started
I dont think there are any hardware key combinations that let the application run..
Some other point:
- Bluetooth? Do you use a bluetooth headset with controls? > App can start via this aswel
- Do you use stock Sony headset (the one that came with the phone?)
~~Regards

Exactly. And none of those is the cause, checked. So what starts the Walkman (and presses the play button, too)?

No BT.
The earbuds are Philips regular in-ear (not handsfree), but no matter, they are never present when it happens.
I think I saw the exact same issue on sony talk forums. Some user advised to 1. Force stop 2. clear data and cache of an app. App name was either Smart connect or Smart key. Try and see if it helps you.

Please for the love of god, uninstall and disable Walkman and install PowerAmp. It's 1.99€ and it one of the best investments you can make in an app. Hands down best music player evah! :good:
Plus you have 15 days trail, so you can just test it for two week for free and then buy it if you like it. Tho I'm pretty sure you're gonna fall in love with it.
Walkman sometimes bugs itself out at some point in time. I suggest you clear the cache and force stop it for a day. The problem will eventually disappear but if it continues, its most likely a hardware fault

I'll try that and report back, thanks for the suggestion. Hopefully it's not a hardware flaw, that would be a truly bad luck for me with androids.
I promised to report after some time and here it is: after clearing the walkman cache, the problem didn't happen again and seems to be gone for now. Thank @leet95 and @Furrydaus for the suggestion and solution.

Volume reset after boot

This is really driving me crazy. Every time I reboot the bluetooth volume gets reset to halfway. And when I go to turn it up, I have to click through a warning about listening at high volumes. I listen to music through bluetooth every time I get in my car. I like to reboot daily just to keep the OS fresh. So every day I get in my car, I have to go through these steps. Is there any way to get the volume to stay where you left it through rebooting? It seems like the ringer volume does recall previous settings, but not bluetooth.
I have had this same issue. It is pretty annoying and I have yet to find another way around this after a reboot.
I will say that rebooting the phone daily really shouldn't be necessary. Since android is based off of Linux it does not require regular reboots to keep it "fresh". I will usually go through and kill any intensive apps (games, google maps, etc.) that may be suspended in the background but that's all that should be needed.
Driving me crazy for a year!
I agree with you totally. This has been bugging me since I got my 2013 Maxx (why couldn't they come up with a new name for the 2014 International? Now whenever we say Maxx we have to specify which one we're talking about.). There should be some way to disable the volume warning. I like to reboot after recharging and if I update several apps. Not everyday, but if I charge and update say, 8 or 9 apps I just like to reboot to reset everything (and sometimes with an update icons change, etc). Then, when I get in my car or use my Bluetooth headphones I have to reconfigure volume. Completely useless. I think I'm perfectly capable of deciding which volume is safe for me. At least give me the option of a Do Not Show again check box...

Volume drops randomly using Google Music (Bluetooth / Headset)

Hello there, I have a frustration with my Nexus 6 running 6.0.1
While there is similar probs around, none seem to explain mine.
When using Google Music on Bluetooth/Headset I get normal operation and then randomly (sometimes immediately, sometimes up to about 5 minutes) the volume drops down. The Volume slider still shows 100% volume.
I thought at first it was the ear-saftey thing we used to have where it does this, but then allows you to change it back to full volume. But I didn't get any message around that or cannot find a way to override it.
Then I thought it was another system process stealing focus and the phone getting confused, eg dropping volume for a notification and then just not returning it.
Tried rotating phone to see if it was a portrait/landscape bug
Everytime. I restart the phone, it's fine again before the random volume drop occurs 1 sec-5 mins after playing a song. Once it does it, it gets stuck that way.
I've lived with it for a long time but it's doing my head in now so hopefully someone can help it advise?
Not even sure if a factory reset will fix.
Cheers

I've had the same problem, running N developer preview 1 listening with wired headphones. I've learned that I just kind of have to wait for it to pass, try force stopping play music, or restart the phone.
Are you streaming your music, or is it downloaded onto your device? I manually copy music onto my phone from my computer, and this is when I've got the issue, as I stream with Spotify fairly often and never have the problem. I've always thought it was just some bug reading all of these crazy 3rd party audio files in the storage.
Hasn't been much of a problem for me... Just jumped at the opportunity to share when I saw this thread. If it bothers you that much, try a full wipe of internal storage and reinstall everything. Cheers! Hope I helped.

Android Auto + LG G5 + Pioneer 4100NEX, OK Google responds but does act on commands.

Pioneer AVH-4100NEX latest firmware updated
Android Auto latest version installed
LG G5 (I have 4 in my family) different firmware, including latest does not work.
When I said "OK Google" it goes into listening or alert mode, but does commit or act on any of the commands, tried many times pulling the cable in and out of the phone to reset connectivity, sometimes the screen loads partially or gets frozen.
Tried different cables.
Any guidance will be appreciated.

Ensure the media volume is not muted on your phone.
Can you explain, Media Volume? I had the mute on and off, made sure the unit's volume was raised up 3/4 of the way.
Thank you
That's interesting! I have an Optimus G (yes it is a bit aged but does its job) updated with an Adroid 7.1 custom ROM and have exactly the same issue (Skoda headunit). Voice is recorded but it takes minutes to complete processing. As soon as I disconnect my phone and use it directly processing is done in less than a second. To me it seems it's not only voice recognition but a general performance degradation. The whole system behaves as if the CPU would get only 1/10th of the clock frequency. Panning and zooming in Google Maps is much slower than on the phone and even simple operations like navigation to a folder in Music app often takes seconds to complete. I wonder if this an LG specific issue. Need to test with a different phone. How is your response for other actions?
