Whenever I get a text my screen wakes and I find this annoying. Is there anyway to disable the screen from waking?

Maybe soon!
Switch to hangouts as your default SMS service in your settings. The messaging app is what wakes your phone. If you use hangouts it won't wake your screen.

Hi guys, So yesterday for no apparent reason my phone decided that I did not need to get notifications from my facebook messenger app anymore. This is a pretty big issue for me as I use this app to communicate with a lot of people.
I honestly am at a loss as to what could caus ethis sudden stoppage and am hoping someone may know some trouble shooting steps that I havent tried. (I have wiped and reflashed ROM, uninstalled/reinstalled the app restored from an earlier nandroid) All my settings are the same as they have been and if I turn on the text messaging option I get notifications from the app for texts but still not for FB messages.
Help please!

Did you go into Settings>Apps and make sure that "Show Notifications" was checked for Facebook?

Just wondering if there is a way to get gosms or the cm SMS app to work with active notifications. I was looking for something with quick reply.

It should just work. Go to Settings > Active Notifications > Manage notification types. Check the apps you want notifications from.
The notification appears, but when you put your finger on it the text doesn't display.
Handcent works.

I use 8sms.
Closest you'll get to CM 4.3 messaging. And it works with active display.
Textra works.

So strange issue. I enabled SMS for Hangouts thinking I could deal with its inability to split text messages. Turns out I can't, oops....
ANYWAYS, Typically when this is enabled you can disable it in the SMS settings under Hangouts. This seems to not be the case anymore. Trying to edit the SMS settings now takes me to the general "settings" area of the phone as if I had selected the "gear" icon in the apps list or quick settings area of the phone. has anyone else run into this issue of 4.4.2? Have you found a solution? I would appreciate any assistance.
So are you trying use the HTC messages as the default instead of hangouts?
Settings->More->Default SMS App

Did you try rebooting the phone? It only happened to me once when phone was roaming. Getting out of roaming and rebooting the phone fixed it.

Got it!
If someone has google voice installed on their phone, it won't allow the native voicemail app to work.

I had to install Voice because I would get emails from Google saying I had a voicemail, but the VVM app didn't show anything.
I think GV is the one sending you emails... but ultimately it depends on which one you prefer. If you use sprints then you need to uninstall GV, then clear the data on the sprint VM and open it again, then it should work.
Hi Guys, Hopefully there is an answer to this... everytime i send and sometimes when i receive a sms message and then close the message app is comes up with Unfortunately, Messages has stopped.
So far I've tried factory reset(twice) and wiping messages data. Is there something I'm missing??
cheers
Seems there is no fix... using GO sms app now.

It's the same here it continually crashes except enhanced messaging is on.
I'll just go back to hangouts
