Question about Selling - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm ready to sell my M7 (It's kinda breaking my heart a little but I nee the $$) On my last two devices I returned to stock and listed on e-Bay. I feel odd about this because this device deserves a nice ROM. Does anyone have any experience selling one that is loaded up with custom software? Is this just too confusing for folks on e-Bay? I don't want to get into some sort of dispute and take up a bunch of time with this sale.

Suggest you have a look at Swappa.com which XDA now refer to for buying and selling, without endorsement.

Yeah I have seen rooted phones on ebay sell for less than stock
I would leave the bootloader unlocked / s-off and just put a stock rom on it to sell it. use something like a guru reset so it will get updates with out a problem

New or Used?

Ok guys, I need a bunch of good opinions real fast like. I'm shopping for a new tilt online. Yea, I'd love to buy a REAL TYTN II but I don't have that kind of money to throw around right now. I figure that you are paying more for a name, some different paint, a camera and that's about it. So an att tilt will just have to do. I can always flash the firmware to the latest htc spec. So, with all that in mind I need to know what I should do. I've been looking on ebay and they have used tilts for around 250-350 dollars. They are all in good condition... they say, and come with everything. I'm thinking about buying one of these "slightly used" ones, assuming they really are just that. OR I can buy a brand new tilt, fresh out of the box for around 400-450 dollars and know that no one else has touched it. Money is kinda tight, but I don't want this breaking on me either, it's got to last a long while. New or used? Appreciate it. SPACE
1) Line breaks are your friend.
2) If you are going to buy used, just make sure you get some kind of warranty to cover you in the event of hardware failure. Squaretrade sells warranty that cover everything short of losing your device, and AT&T offers insurance for $5/mo that will replace lost/stolen devices. Of course you need to be an AT&T customer for that last option.
AT&T is also selling refurb Tilts for $149 right now, but that requires a 2 year contract.
I just love these threads. Why should I buy "x"? The UTLIMATE reason to buy ANYTHING is because "YOU WANT TO!"
If you look at the price, specs, and reviews and it doesn't give you a boner, then you probably will not be satisfied with it. But if looking at the information gets you excited, then you should buy it.
Anything Treo, Myself, or anyone else says is secondary. Only you can look at something and know that is what you want.
jimmy is that post stuck on your clipboard right now? SPDT(same post different thread) the only difference is the name on the last line.
btw i think that is the greatest quote ever
"If you look at the price, specs, and reviews and it doesn't give you a boner, then you probably will not be satisfied with it."
to the op, don't do a refurbished phone with att, my original stopped working and they have sent 5 to me, 3 with broken USB ports, 1 broken screen, and one without a working radio, plus that last one wasn't recognized by my comp if it was in bootloader
I think you should buy both...used and new... and then see which one you like better. Which ever one you do not like, put in in a blender and make a video of it being shreaded and then upload it to YouTube and then we can all watch it. FANTASTIC! THANKS FOR THE THREAD!

dude, I've wanted a phone like this before they even existed, ever since I was a kid watching star trek (old and new), I've had a boner for this phone for ages! My question really is should I buy used and save some money? I don't know because I don't know how reliable the phones can be... so, I thought I'd ask. This is my uber phone fcol! For now anyways...

Same here, with only a few exceptions. Phones however, must be new and free of anyone else's "cooties" before I stick it up to my ear.
NEW NEW NEW, the one year warranty is priceless to me.
alright well I'm probably going to buy a new one but I'm not going to buy it from the att store. 500+ is too much for something that is going to drop in price asap. I'll buy a new one in the box off ebay unless you guys know where I can get one cheaper.

[Q] Dev phone worth buying?

Hi, dear developers, did you all buy the dev phones from google? will the price cheaper buying it this way?
And since recently the Nexus One is rumored to be the next dev phone, I'd like to know if you guys can purchase it from google now? And what is (would be) the price if it's available?
Price is 529, and it is the next dev phone and yes you can purchase it now.
Thanks a lot for the information.
What is your feeling for this phone? Seems it's not as competitive as the newer phones right now. In the last one or two months there are so many new android phones out.
If you want to make Froyo rom or apps for Froyo, is it a good fit?
Anything is possible, it's up to you, your choice. It's up to you if you're willing to put 529 for it, but a lot of developers do have this phone, just look at the Nexus section here. But I won't pay 500 bucks for something I can't see before buying (that's whole another story). And the N1 will be the first to get any new Android updates in the future, cause it's Google's baby. It's up to you now.
The "dev" phone is an unlocked nexus 1, nothing more nothing less. The last dev phone was the Ion/G1. Do you want a nexus 1? Do you have $529 to waste on a phone that you dont really need to use as a dev phone?
Simple questions to ask yourself.
The "dev phone" is a regular, bone stock, GN1. No difference. Bootloader IS LOCKED exactly the same as it always was, and it still accepts "fastboot oem unlock". Note that the warranty details DO NOT in ANY WAY suggest that doing so will affect the warranty IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER, which some people MISTAKENLY thought was previously part of the warranty, where it was actually just in the FAQ designed to prevent dummies from screwing themselves up.

Destroyed by this HTC One

So...I bought my HTC One in July of 2013 for retail price due to not having an upgrade and at the time being financially capable. I unlocked the bootloader, rooted it and used custom ROM's until a week ago when I got the unresolvable issue it not being able to charge anymore unless it was turned off. Now, today, it no longer charges when it's turned off and if I'm extremely lucky it's able to charge while being off for about 20 minutes before it stops.
My HTC One is absolutely useless now. I've called HTC and they told me that I still have 20 days of manufacturer warranty and that I could send in my phone if I paid shipping and they'd repair it for me, however I know they'll find out that I rooted (even though I'm back to 100% stock now) based off of the reports I've read about others. They end up making you pay for a motherboard which costs $200+ in repairs. Not only that, but I simply can't go 7-10 business days without my phone at work.
I called AT&T and the warranty there is gone now, so they refuse to help me in anyway as well. I can't sell the phone on Craigslist because it's broken and I can't even get a good deal at Best Buy I imagine for even $100 because of it being broken. I imagine they'll offer me like $40 for it.
$600 down the drain and 1 year later and I have a piece of junk in my pocket right now. I'm without a phone and do not have an upgrade to do anything about it unless I want to pay retail price for a new phone. My only option now I guess is to look into a cheaper Nexus 5 but even that is just not affordable for me.
Has anyone been in this situation? What the hell can I do?

if your 100% stock, and locked in the bootloader, not relocked or unlocked, and the tampered flag has gone, then just un-root it and send it to HTC, they will never know.

I'm "LOCKED" in the bootloader, S-On, not rooted and I'm using the stock RUU thing. I'm completely stock. However, I read that HTC has some sort of program or something that can see how many times your phone has been unlocked/locked or something and they end up wanting you to pay for that motherboard repair.
I mean, I guess I could try, I just hope they don't pull some sort of "Pay or we won't give your phone back" sort of deal.

I know that Samsung have some sort of counter hidden inside them which can be read quite easily and shows how many times its been flashed and rooted etc,, but im not aware of HTC having it, personally, in its current status, I would send it, if they question it, tell them your brought it off a friend and don't know what he did with it before you got it, also if they do pick up on it, then just request they send it back rather than repair it.

Yeah, I'm doing that now. I guess I'll find out if I have the luxory of a replacement that will last me one last year, or if I'm out of a $500 phone. If I get the replacement, I can at least sell that thing on Craigslist when I get a new phone or trade it in towards my new one. This current one is just a piece of metal in my pocket.

I forgot about the HTCDev Unlock Token thing I just read in another thread. I used that when I unlocked my bootloader. Isn't that owned by HTC and they can see that I requested to unlock my HTC One? God damn it. This has me down as hell.

In theory yes, but I nerver heard htc refusing to honor the warranty of a M7 if the phone returned with a stock rom, locked and s-on. Send the phone, i'm 99% sure they will repair it at no cost.

I'm really, really hoping so. I even paid the $19.00 to get my phone back 3-5 days faster because I NEED it for work.

You should be alright, should they question you, which I severely doubt, just act like you don't know ****. But definitely let us know how it goes.

If I get a replacement I'll probably kiss the guy who posted the return to stock guide. He'll save me $350 for a Nexus 5 that will become obsolete in October and drop $150 and make me feel even worse while the Nexus 6 rubs it's nose in my face.
Just brought my phone to UPS to be sent back to HTC. I guess we'll find out in 2-3 days whether or not they're going to quote me for stupid repairs, or if I'll get a refurb phone for replacement with no charge. If I have to pay for repairs, I won't and I'll just get the phone back, sell it to Best Buy and buy a Nexus 5 I guess.
Crossing my fingers :/

Ah...and the stress is relieved. I just received a shipping notice via email saying I'll have my HTC One on Monday. Gosh that was painful.
I had this exact problem (would only charge when powered off) about a year ago. I returned everything to stock, sent my phone to HTC and they fixed it, no questions asked. Maybe others have had difficulty, but it all was fine for me.

Should I buy a used Moto X?

Since the phone is two years old at this point, I'm wondering it would not be prudent to get a used one. They're going for $100 on eBay, my concern is that the not exactly stellar battery life will have detoriated to an unusable point.
Can anyone chime in with their experiences? Insight?

i was just reading some of the feed back about it and it come in a non factory box but comes with warranty and look brand new, if you were to brake your screen it cost $120 to get it replaced, still looks like a good deal, its listed as new
iv had good luck buying used phones for ebay, just thoroughly test as soon as you get it, ebay has buyer protection if your not satisfied with it all you will be out is time and effort, you have 45 days to return it even used
I bought one of those phones from eBay for ~$100. The first one's camera worked occasionally. I'm now using the replacement and it's working. The battery is pretty good. It's gotten me through the day, and I've been downloading a lot of apps. I was able to root it this weekend, but it was tough. It reminded me of my Droid 2 days... Too bad the bootloader is locked.

Help an HTC Owner Switch?

Howdy, folks.
I've been an HTC owner for many years (Tilt, HD2, Inspire, M8 now a 10), but my HTC10 is showing it's age and they don't have much to offer me right now. So I'm thinking of a Samsung, One+ or Huawei phone. Your insight on a couple things would help.
How important is it to buy an unlocked phone? I've been an AT&T customer for over a decade and really don't have a reason to switch. However, I may have occasion to travel overseas in the near future - likely the EU somewhere.
Which rooting method is recommended, and what side effects does it have? I'm a noob to Samsung, though I've unlocked and rooted every HTC phone I've owned, and every time it's affected speaker volume and possibly other optimizations.
Is it better to get an International version or should I stick with a US version? I'm out of contract with AT&T for a long time, so I don't necessarily need to buy from them, I can source from any seller.
Can you recommend a good reseller? I'm looking for a first quality phone with warranty. But like everyone else, I'd like to find a deal. I'm a member at Costco, but should I be looking elsewhere, say to Amazon or others?
Thanks in advance for your help!
