Hey guys, I was wondering if it was possible to calibrate the proximity sensor on the Moto G2? Essentially I'm planing on getting a wallet case for my phone, but after trying a few smart cover apps out, I haven't had any luck with getting the screen to turn off and on automatically. I know there is a magnet sensor on the right edge of the phone for the Flip Shell cases provided by Motorola that works the same way, but I would like to be able to do that with the proximity sensor.
Alternatively, if anyone knows of a good wallet case for the Moto G2 that makes use of the magnetic sensor, then that'd be awesome too.

Folks,
I have an AT&T Tilt that works great except the screen will not rotate when the keyboard slides open. I'm pretty sure it's the magnetic pickup since I can wave a magnet around and nothing happens. My question is: Where is the sensor located? I would be happy to replace the sensor if I knew where it was located and/or what board/component it is a part of? Please???
Did you disable the wakeup on slide??
No I didn't. Trust me it's broke.
Please??? Someone has to know where the sensor is.
Is there any way to disable the magnetic sensor on the N6? I have a smart cover that keeps constantly turning the screen on in my pocket and it's killing my battery. It is a very nice luxury case and I don't want to damage it or replace with another cover. I tried finding an app that would do it but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dont think there is a way to disable it yet.
Although i read elsewhere its located in /sys/module/ and adding a '0' or 'false' to the value will disable. Issue is still not located the magnetic sensor, older devices it was in /sys/module/lid/parameters/lid_enabled.
But no luck on N6 yet
has anyone had any luck using an app to accomplish this?

Found nothing to disable the magnet sensor.
Installed Xposed and a MagnetOff app. But it did not disable the magnet sensor.
Because I cannot disable that feature, I decided to use it.
On the outside of my belt case I attached a small magnet (glue) and now my screen is always off when the N6 is in the case.
When I take the N6 out of the case the screen turns on. No need for pressing a button.

you sure the screen is always off when it's in your case? like the OP, I found that my screen would periodically come on when using a flip case that has the auto on feature (while closed).

When de magnet is close to the circle with the Motorola logo the screen is switched off.
I am using a flat neodymium magnet with a diamater of 10 mm.
Because the case is partly open at the top, I can see that the screen is really off when the N6 is in the belt case.

When you are unsure if the screens will be turned off when the N6 is in the case, use a stronger magnet.
I mounted with glue a magnet at the outside and put a second one on the inside.
So I am using two small magnets.
any developer willing to dig into this issue to try to find a solution?
I am running the latest a stock debloated 6.0 rom from tupac4u right now and having some issue during phone calls. For me I make or receive a call and my display will turn off even before putting the phone to my face. However, getting the screen on during a call is a bit hard to do as pressing the power button doesn't turn the screen on(sometimes have to press it 3 times to get it on). Anyway to fix this, or to disable this? Thank you
Using a screen protector? If yes, it may be blocking the proximity sensor, which is located just to the left of the top speaker grill.
In another thread I'm being told it's a bug with marshmallow. How accurate is that? And yes I am using a screen protector. I'm just not sure where the proximity sensor is so I can adjust accordingly?

I do not use shell or film and have the problem for a long time. Tried everything but nothing helps you get used to it.
Knowing isuses since 5.1 and the sensor is on the top left of the earpiece
Yeah i took a light to find where it was. I have a tempered protector. Tried to use a knife to adjust it, but broke the screen protector. Oh well I'll just skip one cup of tea this week. If I go with a regular screen protector(one of those cheap $1 ones will that still cause issues?
Yup, the oversensitive proximity sensor issue started after 5.1 arrived. I too had a tempered glass covering the proximity sensor and it was working fine when I was on 5.0/5.0.2. I had to remove the tempered glass and get a new one which doesn't cover proximity sensor to fix this problem.
Did the same thing. Got a regular screen protector right now for a cheap, until I can find a tempered model that doesn't cover the proximity sensor.
Has anyone here had success re-calibrating their proximity sensor after installing tempered glass screen protector on? I know that the proximity sensor shouldn't be covered and it's best just to buy one with the cut outs but I read that there's a way to re-calibrate it using the hidden menu. I've tried running the manual and automatic test but all it gives me is Proximity Sensor - Near / Move your hand away, now cover the proximity sensor with your hand test. Not sure if this does anything calibrate it since it doesn't move past that or give me a prompt that the test is done. I saw that Verizon variant had Genesis Mini OS that has to be booted into.
I'm using the Sprint code to get to the hidden menu 5689#*991#. I also tried searching for "sensor" and "proximity" on ShortcutMaster and it shows that the proximity sensor is fine. I know I should just go ahead and get a screen protector with the cutouts but wanted to know if there's a way to adjust the settings.
Thank you for your time.
I had the same issue before and I followed this guide to fix my Sprint variant.

Has anyone got a flip cover for this phone that turns the screen off when you close it? Various reviews mention this phone has a hall sensor (Eg. nokiamob.net review). I installed a multi-sensor test app and can see a magnetic sensor there that shows changing readings when I waive a magnet over it, but opening or closing the case does not affect the screen. This work for anyone ?

I've been looking into the cases of this phone since i got it on the first day of launch. Sadly to date there is none. Maybe Nokia will release a case that does so and enable thay feature in a future update.
