Tried setting this up on a Windows machine.
WebSockify and Tight VNC are running on the right ports with no password set but the Chromecast doesn't seem to show the screen when I press the big button.
I dont get any errors.
Would buy if trial works.

Yep, did all that. Websockify showed it received the connection and passed it on but no image appears.
I used the Linux + x11nvc method and that worked without problems.

Enjoy vnc2cast in 2014.

Have you run vnc2cast with linux PC?

Is this a better alternative than Chromecast's "Cast your entire screen (experimental)" feature? I tried that for general desktop casting and video playback and the speed was bad even on the 480p setting on a 50/10 mbit wireless connection.
I would definitely buy such an app if it could provide lag-free 720p/1080p video casting to Chromecast.

VNC will never be lag free, and really isn't suitable for video playback. Nor, for that matter, is "cast screen" (which is out of experimental and into the quick-options panel with Android 5).

My new favorite browser, I saw it on the market last night and downloaded it to test it out. Love how it can load up videos that you used to not be able to load...only problem is that it takes forever to do so because it converts them on the fly.
I get FC anytime I try to open it. oh well.
Nice!
I've been using this for a couple of days now... It is MUCH better than the standard browser or Opera Mini.

It's nothing superb, it just has features that standard browser lacks. Browser is too "basic".
fast access to anything through gestures
nice context menu on long touch on something, which includes zooming (so buttons don't cover up webpage)
auto rotation of screen without page reload (and it is very fast too)
fast tab switching through moving out (left or right) of a webpage
caching webpages: if you load up some page, then exit browser, run something else, so browser will be killed and then return back, Dolphin will load this page from some kind of cache
Why is this in the dev forum?
And this browser doesn't work with hulu.
Nice browser....but
On some website, it just exit and I'm back at my G1's home screen.

Such a good job, Steve! Probably it's the best streaming solution currently available on the marketplace.
I just have a few (edited: he-he, "a few" ) feature requests, will be great to see 'em in the next release. Could you please:
- add MediaElement's volume control to the player and save/restore selected volume level;
- bookmark media position and resume playback from that position;
- auto resume playback after seek;
- disable err.media message and send email dialog (or at least make it configurable) - it's really annoyng. The reason: some people (like me) have some non-media files in the supported folders
- add an option to skip intermediate page and start playback instantly;
- add "Recently viewed medias" view;
- remember and restore (on app start) last visited server's folder. This option may be configurable;
- add an option to prevent playback on mobile connection (if option set, player should pause and stop streaming if connection switched to 3G/4G, and resume playback on WiFi/Eth);
- autorotate images based on EXIF orientation metadata;
- add ability to disable automatic image rotation based on handset orientation.
These ones are easy.
The hard one: could you implement adaptive streaming (bitrate based) "on the fly"?
I think with these enhancements your solution will be unbeatable! Thanks for hard work.
WBR, SeNS
P.S. Your server-side UPNP code for auto port mapping is not working with my router (NetGear FVG318). If you are interested, I can send you 100% working UPNP code (on C# but it shouldn't be a problem), PM me.

DLNA/UPNP problem with Onkyo AV-Receiver

My Galaxy Note doesn't recognize my Onkyo TX-NR509 in Allshare. The other way round the Onkyo recognizes all DLNA/UPNP devices in my network but not the Note. Using BubbleUPNP it sees the Onkyo and I can choose it as the output device but when I start streaming it doesn't play and ends with an error ("Transport is locked (Code: 705)"). Every other phone is working fine with the Onkyo (Desire HD, Defy, Milestone)
Any clues?
Thanks
since I in the router "UPnP" allowed , it works for me (Onkyo TX 8050)
( test it, now works it no more ..... He sees him, NAS works, PopCorn A 100 works no more Onkyo ?,strange )

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem with my Onkyo TX-NR609!
Have you solved this issue?
BubbleUPnP has no problems streaming to my Medion WLAN-radio and other devices, only streaming to my Onkyo-receiver fails.
Best regards

tried different codec songs?

Yes, MP3 and AAC, while AAC fails with every device!
I found the "Onkyo Remote"-app on Google Play, and with this app streaming is as easy as it should be.
So no idea, why it won't work with BubbleUPnP...

It's not about codecs and not about BubbleUPnP The general problem is that the Samsung Note doesn't recognize the Onkyo as a DLNA/UPNP device. Allshare doesn't even see it. It's also Rom independent - same prob with Stock as with CM10. Really a shame. Thank god I own a WD TV Live
Okay, this is really a shame for Samsung!
Here you can find the Onkyo-app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...Remote&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Using it, streaming works like a charm.

Hi,
just for info, Bubble UPNP works fine with my Onkyo TX-NR616.
Concering "Transport is locked (Code: 705)"... I need to select NET -> DNLA manually (e.g. using the Remote or Onkyo App) before using Bubble UPNP. But then all is working as expected. However, no gapless support.
Best regards

Thank you so much for that tip. I spent all night last night trying to find the solution, even trying to contact the developer. I have 2 onkyos TX-NR708 in family room and TX-NR818 in theater. Problem was showing on the 708 your tip worked like a charm. Mine actually showed Bubble Upnp in the display. Thank you again.

No Media Server Options

I'm trying to play music/video on my Xperia Z from my laptop.
I'm connected via wi-fi with a strong signal strength.
Apparently I should have a 'Media Server' option in the 'Menu' part of 'My Music', and within the 'Wirelss & Networks' menu, but I don't.

Many thanks for the reply.
My laptop is definitely set for streaming. My PS3 sees it and can stream. In fact I'm able to see my Xperia Z on my laptop wirelessly and play content from the phone on my laptop. However, as mentioned, there is no option to see things from my Xperia Z. I would have thought there'd be an option once I am connected via wi-fi. But there's no option on my phone whatsoever for 'Media Server'.
If the notebook is setup correctly, the Walkman app on the phone will see the the laptop as a source. The Walkman app list's all DLNA compliant servers on the same network, no special setup is required for this.
What server do you use? Windows Media Player/Windows built-in? In case you do, did you check the security settings for the media streaming on your Windows-end and checked if the Z is allowed as a client? Default setting I believe is disallow for new clients.

I am certain that my laptop allows new clients. All 'NEW' devices are allowed. The only limited access I can find is that my PC states "This device cannot access your media when your PC sleeps". There is no other restrictions on the network. 2 PS3s, 1 XBOX, 2 laptops, 1 desktop are all connected to the network and can share content with each other.
What worries me is that there is absolutely no 'Media Server Settings' option on my Xperia Z. According to the user manual the option should be there like the last image -
Compared to what I see on my phone, the option simply isn't there. Shouldn't this be present regardless? Or even greyed out?
Media Server options on the device are to control exposure of the devices content to the network. This obviously works as you can stream stuff off your device, the device's DLNA server obviously works as intended. Other than that there is no option to be set on the device itself.

My PS3 is connect via a cable. However...
It's nothing to do with my router or my laptop - My sister has an Xperia Z and I've just used it to connect to my Wi-fi, and she can stream files to the phone from my laptop folders. She even has the option of "MEDIA SERVER" in the menu part of the Walkman app. This is something that does not appear on my phone as can be seen in the below pick...
Regardless of whether I can connect to wi-fi or stream files etc. The "MEDIA SERVER" option in the menu should appear between "Download music info" and "Visible items". However it is not there. I am missing a menu option on my phone. That's the issue I am having.
Apart from the fact that even I do not have media server, you can open the video app and there are 2 icons. One which contains all your movies and the other plays movies from DLNA devices. I used it once for playing videos via my Network hard drive but now I prefer using Skifta App.

[HOWTO] Chromecast Mirroring (screen mirroring)

Hello everyone,
So I got my Google Chromecast today and after a bit of messing around I found this cool neat feature that allows you to mirror your entire display to the chromecast device.
This is how you do it.
1) In Google chrome browser on your computer click the Google cast extension and then click the little arrow in the extension and select "cast entire screen (experimental) I've attached a screenshot.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
2) after completing step one select your chromecast device and walla you see your screen on your TV
This seems to be an experimental feature so let me know how it works for you, so far I've tested it on my Linux Mint 15 laptop and it works nicely there is a minor delay but at least its something
Nice Find!!
It would be great if the audio also worked it streams xbmc great but not audio
FYI: Need Chrome Beta for this to show.
This is really cool, nice find.
I hope audio works through this in the future!
Make video please

You can cast just audio from that menu too.
How good is the screen mirroring? If it works well with no lag, I may use this to cast some PC games to the TV!

Have yet to try a game but there is definitely lag, (~ a half a second?) just scrolling the web page but audio is good, video is good, and the audio/video sync seems to be fine.
Right now I'm casting Google Play Music from my average, 1 year old, Toshiba laptop, to my cheap-ass, Insignia TV, listening to Taj Mahal tear-up the guitar.

Not howto video, but the video of the result, to see lag. I haven't chromecast and interested to see is it good enough to use for screen mirroring. Thanx.

oh, fair enough.
i don't think it's any laggier than the tab projection so you should look up videos of that on youtube for an idea.
There is a half a sec up to 2 sec lag so I don't think it's suitable for gaming unless someone finds a way to lower the lag somehow.
Also I use the stable version of chrome on Linux and it works so I don't know maybe for windows the beta version of chrome is needed.
The biggest down side for me is that audio is not working in the desktop cast mode
it doesnt even work for me.the CC doesnt respond to me clicking the cast entire screen (im on chrome stable)
Well when I use Netflix off my phone there is a real slight delay and it takes a few seconds after that for the proper resolution to kick in.. So if your game is lag dependant like a shooter etc.. I would be hesitant

Can you explain your issue in more details? What do you mean it doesn't respond?

Can someone test this Chrome extension on Chromecast. Media Player allows you to play video from your chrome browser. Just drop video into blank tab.
