[2.1] Simple root instructions for Eclair

Here is a very simple instruction on rooting LG GT540 when Universal Androot doesn't work:
1. Download and extract the attached package.
2. Connect the phone in "USB Debbuging Mode"
3. Doubleclick "root.bat" (extracted from the package)
4. Wait for the console to shut down and the phone to reboot.
The credit for this method goes probably to people from Modaco.
Since this is my first post and i am still not allowed to post links from external servers i won't give any mirrors for unregistered users. Sorry.
Any confirmation that this works?
It sounds just too easy!
Bakuj, you can PM me with link to the modaco forum, I cant find topic with this root method!
Cheers!
Rooted yesturdamy with this, works fine
I rooted my phone yesterday using that method.
I ran each line of code separately though as i had issues running the .bat file
Thanks a lot
Froyo?
I have a TMO Optimus T w/ FROYO. Will this work on it?
You can give it a try. But first look at the name of this forum section. It is for GT540.
I have made a new version which includes both root and app2sd.Named 1 click autorootapp2sd .
You can access the guide at modaco . The file is attached.Turn on usb debugging mode and run autorootapp2sd.bat.
Nice and handy ^^ thanks

[Q] Root My Captivate

i am trying to root my captivate. i have tried the super one click root method. but it doesnt do what it says it does. my phone doesnt connect with the program. my computer recognizes my phone via usb. i downloaded the net 4, and samsung drivers. i unzipped the folder contents to a folder on my desktop. i open it up click the att captivate root icon it asks to run i click run. it takes me to a green dos command prompt daemon gets turned on then it just goes to a blue dos prompt telling me my phone should be in download mode and turn back on hit any key to continue or finish. my phone has not gone into download mode it is the same as when is started with nothing happening. i have usb debugging on. What am i missing. i am new to this and i m willing to learn. Help me to know what i am doing wrong or not doing first
Thanks
I think you are confusing oneclickroot and superoneclick. Superoneclick by CLShortfuse will root all versions of the captivate.

Problem connecting phone to computer...

Hi, I am hoping that someone can help me before I throw my phone out the window. I'm currently trying to enable 3G/4G speeds on my phone for T-Mobile and have gotten to connecting the device to my computer.
For some reason, when I press volume up and plug the phone in (without the battery and sim card), I get "LG Mobile USB Modem" in device manager. When I try navigating to the appropriate drivers and installing them (C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LG Android Driver), my computer tells me that Windows was unable to install the drivers. What gives?

Solved [Q] How to copy files to my phone

Hi all,
the question seems simple, but I am unable to solve it, would be very grateful for somebody helping me out.
I have an unlocked HTC One
Bootloader is working, OS is upgraded to 2.24.401.1
Recovery is installed and working TWRP 2.6.1.0
When starting the phone, the system asks to connect to WiFi but does not find a network in the air, hence I am not able to continue that route.
When connecting it to a Windows PC, it is recognized, the usual "drives"are mounted as the drivers are installed.
I see the HTC One but it is read-only and a file cannot be copied to it.
I tried to use the adb push xxxx /storage command but this also says the system is read-only.
I just lack the knowledge on how to continue, I cannot flash a rom as it is not copied to the device.
Please be so kind to guide me in the right direction.
Ruud
When you connect the phone to the PC - the phone will show its connected on the top (notification bar) pull that down and select /USB connected then choose
HTC Sync Manager
Now connect the phone to the pc and it will be seen as a media devise open it and in root copy the rom and anything else you need
leave the phone with that setting then when you need to move photo, music, docs or whatever its is just a matter of finding the correct file and copy/paste

Thanks, but your explanation is for normal usage, as said, I had a read-only system, this did not work for me.
I understand that the command adb remount did the trick, after that at least adb was able to do its task.

Do you have USB debugging mode activated when you connect to a PC?
Also you can adb sideload a rom when you are in recovery.
Thanks farang4u,
As I said, Matt helped me out and the last Wipe Data which I did this morning was also the trick, so now all seem fine with my phone again.
Thanks all.

HTC Incredible S alive again! S-Off not possible at the moment, though.

Hi all,
First of all I would like to say how awesome this site has been. I knew nothing about my first venture into rooting a phone so this has been a learning experience.
Right - now for those who have a HTC Incredible S and are looking to breathe some new life into this device (like I have purely for giving to my son to watch YouTube - so no calling, texting, etc) this is what I did (all information sourced from various threads on XDA and some external links as well):
1. Read through the following guide: {[GUIDE]} HTC Incredible S Unlock Bootloader, flash recovery, Root, S-OFF. Note: It appears that it is no longer possible to get S-OFF due to the Revolutionary site no longer existing. So you will have to stop at the end of Step 5.
2. Assuming you are using Windows 10 I had to do the following in order to successfully connect to the HTC Incredible S using fastboot/adb:
1. Install HTC Sync.
2. Once you have done this go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features then uninstall the HTC Sync program (the one with the sync icon) but leave the drivers etc installed.
3. Then download and install the Android SDK and update it as per the instructions https://www.andreszsogon.com/using-android-8-and-9-emulators-without-android-studio/
4. You then want to create a folder called C:\Android.
5. Now browse to the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools folder and copy the adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll and AdbWinUsbApi.dll files to C:\Android.
6. Now make the changes to the registry. Put this in a *.reg file (with your texteditor and rename the file to e.g. import.reg
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbflags\0BB40FF00100]
"SkipBOSDescriptorQuery"=hex:01,00,00,00
Then import that import.reg via regeditor (as admin) into your registry. Then reboot your computer.
7. Restart your PC.
8. If you are unlocking the bootloader for your HTC device - put the "fastboot.exe" file from the HTC Dev webpage (https://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/) here as well. Also put any recovery mods, roms, etc here as well.
9. Make sure - if you can that - that you boot your phone normally and go into the settings and turn USB Debugging "ON" and Fastboot "Off" (the second one is you can get to the bootloader on your phone using the appropriate key combinations). You may also want to turn on the option to install apps from unknown sources. Power off your phone.
10. Now turn on your phone into Fastboot mode then connect it to the PC it should change to Fastboot USB.
11. Open a command prompt as administrator and browse to C:\Android. You should now be able to use the Fastboot command.

Click to collapse
3. You should now be able to complete steps 2 - 5 from the guide.
4. For my HTC Incredible S I went with the following:
Clockwork Mod Recovery 5.0.2.0 (download it here: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-vivo.img)
Root obtained using SuperUser 3.1.3 (filename is Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39959468#post39959468)
Installed Unofficial CyanogenMod 10.1 for vivo (download it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2127020) [EDIT: You may or may not need to also install this patch for it as well https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38765296&postcount=493]
Installed Google Apps (Gapps) (download it here: https://www.teamandroid.com/gapps/ Just scroll down until you get to Gapps CyanogenMod 10.1)
Thanks all!

Hi. Yeah, tried that.
While you can download the required zip file it doesn't let you generate the beta key required.
How about the solution posted here?
