Will the moto skip work with the Nexus 6 like it does for the moto x? Are there any other alternatives that also give you a secure unlock and are easy to carry (i.e. not a smart watch because I've had a few and I don't like them)
It supports both BT trusted device & NFC Unlock, but am not sure it'll work with the Skip as it is a read-only tag.

I'm used to the knock code on my G3 but I would prefer something easier than a pin or face unlock for the N6 because let's face it no one wants to unlock their phone if it's a hassle to do all day.
Get a Power Pack Micro or a Keylink (once Ma M releases it). Should fit the bill.
Motorola has a keychain that has 1 year battery life. Just release it. Here
Never lose your phone or keys again
Compatible
Motorola Keylink pairs with any Android or iOS smartphone using the Motorola Connect app.*
Key/phone finder
Make your phone ring anywhere up to 100 feet away.* Or use the app to see where your keys are on a map.
Skip your password
Keeps your Motorola or Droid smartphone unlocked when your keys are nearby—no need to enter a password.**
Splash-proof
Keylink can get a little wet
Battery that lasts
Full year of battery life using a replaceable standard coin cell battery***
I had to pick one up for my wife. she is always asking me were her phone is at.... and i figured i might as well get one for myself mainly for the Skip your password part.

I just ordered my Nexus One at its exorbitant price of $529 and almost chose the engrave my phone feature but didnt really want to wait extra time and it won't be seen anyhow.... I was going to put 'iPhone Killa' and maybe 'F$%k Apple!'.....
Anyways, just wondering if you engraved your phone and what did you put?
i was going to put "touch me...thats what she said" (corny i kno) but reading through the disclaimers on the site, i decided not to
I was going to engrave it as well, but decided not to because of the non-refundable part.
Nope. I was thinking about selling my N1 in a year or so, and I didnt think the buyer would appreciate the engrave.
I almost did, but I bought mine on launch day and feared the engraving would delay my overnight shipment.
Come to find out, it's not an engraving, but a silk-screen type process... also doesn't delay the shipping of your phone.
Now that I have it, I'm glad I didn't do it.
I went for it. *shrug* It was free.

You think that there would actually be someone looking for a second hand year-or-two old phone that would actually pay more than the cost of SHIPPING for it? Not worth selling!
I purchased my N1 on Craigslist for $325.00 about a month ago. The reason it was so cheap? "Michael & Sasha - Always" was engraved on the back.
I personally don't care what the phone says on the back but I'm sure w few people will which means the phone will be harder to sell in the long run.

anyways: i hear that the most didn't engrave it at the last minute. Is it because all of you plan to sell your nexus?
I got zKiLLA put on mine
There was a long ass thread dedicated to this back in early January when the phone was released... You're exactly 5 months late to the day.
well im sorry for the useless thread then, but I didn't buy my nexus one in january, i bought it in june
did not engrave incase i decided to re sell.. the nice thing about a no contract plan
wish i had gotten "not the droid you are looking for"
i think that wouldn't have hurt the resale
Hallo,
so i am one of the people who could not get a nexus 4 from the funny Store because of unknown erros in the ordering system! (after a call they say u have one, next day call the told me that there is no transaction)!
I personally (like many other) do not believe that the Nexus 4 is out of stock! unless they hat only 1000 pieces!
I believe there it is one of the following:
either
- It is a markting game! we do not have any information about how many pieces were sold! .... not really sure
or
- Google do not trust this LG nexus really and did offered only limited pieces to be sold, to see how does the Nexus 4 do in the every day use! a kind of real life test!, so they can (maybe/maybe not) prevent the failures in the next shipment of nexus 4. And that is why google did not set a pre-order option on the funny Store!
As i can see it is really better that many of us could not get a nexus 4 first shipment (may be last shipment too!). I also do not like to buy a phone which i did not hold in my hand! or a phone which is not really tested yet!
So be happy like me because u did not buy the nexus 4 yet!

No i am not, i can still get one for 60$ above the price of the funny Store, that is not the Problem.
Then plz can u explain to me why was that not really professional from the Master Google?
Funny how none of those reasons could actually make someone "happy" they didn't get one... its not like you just broke the news that the device is a nuclear time bomb at T - 6:66
Well, everything has its good side. Those who weren't able to get a Nexus 4 can wait and see people's impression about this device, more reviews (besides the wide anandtech review), possible device issues, etc.
I admit I will buy a Nexus 4 as soon as it becomes avaliable again, but I'm also worried about the non-AOSP thing. So let's see hot it goes now on.
That's exactly what I told myself on my way to work after my attempts to place an order failed - until an hour later when my wallet showed an accepted order along with confirmation email-and I changed my mind:laugh:
OP that sounds really stupid. period.
I personally think that it's better to wait, since I want to see how durable the device is. And for the most part, I will be buying my Nexus 4 when either Ballistic Cases/Otterbox/Trident release a case for this phone, idk something about that back glass gets me a little worried about how sturdy this phone is...

Why not go with an official bumper case? That is the lightest thing that will protect fully against falls (unless you drop it on an uneven surface where the glass touches first.. unlikely)

Are you serious? You really think that there is enough time between the first batch arriving and being used and shipping the second batch of phones they're going to have enough information to make serious hardware changes? A little far-fetched methinks.
How about something positive like Google set a limit on the devices to ensure that each one was sent out in a timely manner and the orders could be processed swiftly before relisting the device that was hugely popular?

I don't think that the glass makes the phone not 'sturdy'. I would guess that the phone is well made, solid and also looks really nice because of the tough Gorilla Glass 2 backing. Obviously, this is purely speculative but I can imagine that with a bumper and - more importantly - a little care, this device will last a while and be great to have.

u cry because a phone? A phone that u can/may buy?!
All my phones up until now have been on contract, and each upgrade has never coincided with a launch. Part of the appeal with the N4 (along with the price of course) was to get a phone at launch for the 1st time. I'm happy to put up with teething problems -as a long standing Android dabbler, that is part of the masochistic fun. It is just nice to be in at the very beginning for a change.

I cracked my nexus 6 on the corner yesterday. I bumbled it while getting out of the car. I thought I saved it as I was able to handle it all the way down to about 2-3 inches from the ground but couldn't fight it off. It finally left my hand and dropped corner first onto the concrete. The tempered glass looks to be holding it together but it's a hideous sight so I plan on using my moto care to get it replaced. What's the process as I've never used it before.
Well so far this process has been a huge pain in the ass. I've been on the phone for about 1.5-2 hours. They can't find my IMEI number in the system.
first they asked me to email the receipt and they would call me back. I asked them why I couldn't just give them the order number of the phone, or the moto care contract number. They said they could do that. After that they still couldn't find my information so they had to escalate me. Once escalated they still couldn't find my information but they said to give them 24 hours.
I'll update more as the saga continues. So far NOT satisfied......

so far the update is that the IMEI is not in their system and they have to get it updated in their database properly. They said it could take them some time. Definitely does not sound promising. Thank god the phone is still functional. Perhaps you can be pro-active and get them to make sure your phone is in the system properly so when the time comes, replacing your device will be much easier.

Which is hilarious because they sold you the device and I'm pretty sure require the IMEI to purchase moto care. I had the same problem on 2 separate devices from them. Make sure they transfer your moto care to your replacement as well (they won't).

Thanks for the update. Would've been nice to hear better things. Maybe posting to their Twitter account will get more action, and more attention, once it's out there for more then just the community here to see.
I did check my Certificate of Coverage that was emailed after Moto Care purchase and my IMEI is listed as "Serial Number". A call to them to confirm might be a good idea.

Wouldn't want to even think about that. I waited very patiently for my white 64gb, I'd be rather disheartened if they messed up the replacement. Glad to hear it sounds like it's all good, for now... fingers crossed that the worse is over for you.

Thanks, my recommendation to everyone with moto care is to be proactive and make sure your phones are in the system properly so when the time comes everything is smooth.
My experience was totally painless with motocare.
I purchased my n6 off of Craigslist. When I got home, I dropped my phone on the tile floor and cracked the screen. I signed up for motocare, and within 12 hours I got an email conformation everything was set up.
I started a claim online, and a new phone was shipped overnight to me.
I packaged up my old phone and overnighted it back to Motorola.

Did you get a brand new phone with accessories? I just received my replacment phone and just the phone came in a bubble wrap package. no screen film on the front or the camera. There are minute (very very small) grooves on the bottom of the phone. You can't see them but you can feel them. These don't exist on my previous phone. For some reason I expected a brand new phone when using moto care

I got my G4 from T-Mobile less than two weeks ago, filled out the online promo redemption form and yesterday I received 2 packages, each with the batty, charging dock, and a leather back. I'm not sure why they sent me two but I'm not complaining.
The charging dock is great because you've always got a full battery on deck. I had the same thing with my G3 last year.

Too bad I missed the promo.
I will get G4 as soon as tomorrow, but now it's $480.
Yay! I got my battery, battery charger and red leather back from @granttaylor99 that I bought from him!! Quick and easy buy just in case anyone else ever runs into this guy.
There is someone else that got a hold of me selling the battery and battery charger for $40 if anyone wants to know who is selling it just let me know.
Did the $480 deal. Received my red leather back, battery and charger yesterday. Wasn't even aware of the deal until I got home with the phone less than 2 weeks ago and ran into it on the site
I think I like the "red" (burgandy) better than the tmo stock Brown/orange.
Phone was working perfectly, battery is in great condition and lasts 1+ day. Suddenly it wont turn on. No light or indicator when plugged in. Tried hard reset (via power button), bootloader/recovery (power + vol dn) etc, nothing does anything. Even tried putting on wireless charger, leaving it plugged in overnight etc. No response at all.
What should I do at this point?
Try a very long press of the power button - more than 10 seconds. That may force a shutdown if the phone is stuck in some non-reacting state.
If that doesn't work, I would say you are in for a repair. Could be as simple as replacing the power button or as bad as the motherboard, not easy to tell.

If that doesn't work, I would say you are in for a repair. Could be as simple as replacing the power button or as bad as the motherboard, not easy to tell.

Didn't do anything. I checked with Motorola and the cheapest repair option is ~$115 which is rather high. I can buy a replacement phone for just a bit more.
You can always try replacing the power button. You can buy it from China for $3, and it is reasonably easy to do yourself.
Though it could be a number of other things, so the odds are rather low.

I recently cracked the screen on my Shamu so I'm in a bit of a similar dilemma. If your not partial to Shamu, you can get the OG Pixels for around 120 give or take. Oneplus 3T and 5 can be found at good prices. Granted, these are preowned so the battery condition can vary but I've generally had great experiences buying that way. I personally think I'm going to move on to a Oneplus before long.

Phone was working perfectly, battery is in great condition and lasts 1+ day. Suddenly it wont turn on.
What should I do at this point?

The phone won't operate with an open/damaged battery. It would be a mistake to rule it out without measuring it with a multimeter or replacing it with a known good one. Your next step is obvious; You will need to open the back as shown online or find someone that will since parts are available.

No, I do not. I've been using Swappa rather than EBay. EBay is good, Swappa is awesome. There is a play store app for Swappa but it was sorta glitchy for me so I'd recommend using their website, Swappa.com
I just scored a 500gb PS4 with Bluetooth headset, controller, 7 games for 180 shipped few weeks back off Swappa or I'd have already replaced Shamu. Its mainly for phones though few other tech things as well. What I really like with Swappa is how detailed the listings are and how simple both the buying/selling process is. I'd highly recommend and encourage you to check it out.

This may be a bit OT ....
Thats a good deal on the PS4, congrats. I am also a new PS4 owner, I was able to get the black friday deal for 1TB PS4 slim for $200 which came with the new Spiderman game which I sold for $30.
There are a lot of used games available for cheap for PS4 online or in places like GamesStop, I've been able to buy a few $5/10 titles.
I looked on Swapp for Pixel or Pixel 2 XL but most were well over ebay prices. Will keep looking.
