Since switching to ART runtime every time I reboot the turbo android optimizes apps which makes a restart a very time consuming task and takes a toll on the battery. Any suggestions?
Also my first topic post.

I had the same problem,.just switched back to Dalvik for now...
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
why do you need to reboot your phone so much?
Same problem and switched back to dalvik
I have had two cases in which the phone has reset on it own. Other times when I have had connectivity issues with data or Bluetooth a reset is typically the quickest fix.

I had been running art and had that same problem. For me it was 70 apps. I switched back dalvik.
I'm thinking it probably had to do with apps that aren't compatible.
That's just a guess
That's how ART works in 4.4. Its not a problem, just a reality of the runtime until Lollipop. Every device does it IIRC.

It's been a while since I've ran ART, but I definitely remember it doing that on my S3 when I did use it.

That's not entirely true - I think optimization of apps while on ART during every boot might be device specific because when ART first became available, I switched to it on my Droid MAXX and optimization was done only once, during the initial boot, never after that.

same was the case on my Droid Razr Maxx. Only optimized apps the first reboot after switching to art and never again.

Just sold my S5 as I'm buying this phone today but wantedvto chime in. I was running ART on the S5 and the phone only optimized the apps on the initial restart. ART was confirmed enabled and running without this reoptimization problem. This is probably a Moto issue.

That's true and even on the droid razer maxx stated before your post they also never experienced optimization on every reboot like this droid turbo.
I have a 2013 X ran art since day one. Never had that issue

Anyone ever issues with facebook app timing out? My wife's bionic keeps saying connection lost, tap to retry. My bionic does not have this issue. I wiped cache, restored to factory, uninstalled and re-installed facebook.
Works for a bit then the problem keeps creeping back up. Any ideas?
The phone is stock and we are on verizon. I am wondering if I should flash the stock image over itself again.
Any input is highly appreciated.
Thanks
Luis
Its been happening to me a lot lately, even on stock (but rooted).

I had the issue on my bionic, but it seemed related to Verizon's network. I connected to WiFi and it worked. I haven't had any issues since I did that yesterday.

I have the same problem, and it seems to be related to the facebook app itself, not the phone. It's always been rather slow and buggy, but a few versions back, this connection timeout problem surfaced.
Half the time, I just use the web browser. It's significantly faster.
They updated the client today. Not any netter in my experience. I'm starting to use the browser version instead.

Haven't seen this issue yet, but curious about it. I had issues when I did some changes in the Battery & data manager setting. Try turning data saver off and see if problem still happens. Personally I don't use that setting, had to many issues trying to listen to Pandora for long period and having it shut down Pandora during standby with that setting turned on. I beleive Facebook would do the same during standby.
Same

Yeah. I just finished setting up again after flashing. I've noticed a few back end things that didn't work before now seem to be working. For instance, before if I did a check for update it would say check for system update is not available. Now I get the usual no update necessary message. Other than that it seems the same.

Honestly, there's not much difference and if you're happy on 2233, I'd stay there. I'll continue to flash each new leak out of curiosity. A final build should be appearing in the next few weeks, because Motorola has early Q3 as there expected release which only gives them until mid-August at the latest to finalize, test, and gain approval for the update.
I wonder if there will be any differences in the official ICS release and the leaked .2233? Honestly i havent found anything wrong with 2233 yet aside from recovering a nandroid backup of it.

Mostly the issues I have found include things in Motoblur apps or backend stuff (such as the missing System Updates I mentioned earlier, Social Gallery not allowing you to add accounts, and the Device Setup wizard force closes after the initial run through), and I believe some of this stuff has been purposely disabled for these "test" builds. I also think HDCP has yet to be enabled, as running Hulu Plus in webtop mode gave me a black screen that said HDMI output has been disabled. Two of those four things are now fixed in 229, and I'm going to test Hulu Plus in about an hour. It is very close to being a done deal for sure. I would expect a new leak or two in the next two weeks with all these issues ironed out, followed shortly by news of a soak test in late-July, and a final release the first week of August. But that's all speculation on my part.

Did you try after a factory reset on 2233? Mine were there and working when upgraded from 905, but I did a factory reset and then it kept trying to add but gave me an error that read something along the lines of this has been disabled for this account. It works fine on 229.

Not sure why, but after flashing to .902 and updating several times on .2233, I went back to .902 to get this new leak on, and promptly got stuck on the dual core logo. I reflashed .902 -- it went perfectly both times -- but got stuck on the big red dot again. Left it alone for almost three hours, and all it did was kill my battery.
Any idea why the exact same .902 file and procedure that I used many times before would suddenly decide to crap out on me?
Can I just flash this update over the 2233 or do I have to go back to 905 first?
I believe you have to go back to .905 first, but i could be wrong... i havent tried it yet.

As stated in this blog post we are now OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED BY CYANOGENMOD!!
As stated in this blog post:
Unified builds – Motorola G and more
First, we’re proud to announce that the Motorola G is now an officially supported device in CyanogenMod. This popular budget phone will carry the designation of ‘falcon’ – with a unified build for both the xt1032 and xt1034 variants. We are in the beginning stages of supporting the multi-sim capable xt1033, so please be patient as we work through that process.
Additional Motorola devices are also seeing the benefits of unification, and in the spirit of our last batch of unified builds, a handy list is provided for the newest batch:
Previous Motorola X and Droid Maxx Dev Edition: xt1053, xt1058, xt1060, xt1055 & xt1080 (latter two previously unreleased)
Now: moto_msm8960dt
Previous RAZR HD, Photon Q, Atrix HD, etc. : xt897, xt901, xt905, xt907, xt905, xt925, xt926, mb886 (and the former xt897c)
Now: moto_msm8960
The new ‘msm’ designations are based on the common architecture used in these devices. As always, source for these unified device projects are available on our Github.

https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_motorola_moto_msm8960dt
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_motorola_moto_msm8960
Nightlies for all of the devices mentioned above, including the Moto G, are now available.

UPDATE: SEP 17
We are no longer supported by Cyanogenmod:
we are officially dropping support for the ‘obake’ device (Moto Droid Maxx Dev Edition) moving forward. This change is in effect starting tonight. Existing Moto X users on the former ‘moto_msm8960dt’ device can update to ‘ghost’ builds without wiping. The obake support is officially being retired due to lack of a maintainer (and poor sales of the platform in general).

So, any obvious risks involved with me installing this on my bootloader unlocked XT1030? I notice that it's not listed in the supported devices.

i dont think is gonna be any risk, but just in case, make a backup with twrp, install the rom and if it just doesnt boot, just restore your backup and youre on the road again.

In the spirit of adventure, I gave it a go. Installed and it booted up fine. Looks good so far, and seems to run very smoothly. Will have to do some more poking around and test things like calls, and such.
Updates: Found two issues with CM11 on my unlocked Droid Mini so far.
Soft buttons are showing. Looking for better solution still.
Workaround (by lesdense, thanks!):
- Set settings > interface > expanded desktop style: status Bar visible
- Power > expanded desktop
Note: Unfortunately, nav buttons still pop up in certain situations.
Using a T-Mobile SIM, only CDMA settings showed. I was unable to access any GSM or APN options.
Solution:
- Boot to fastboot (power off, press vol down + power, release power)
- fastboot oem config carrier tmo
Note: Other carrier options are "vzw" (default), "att", "sprint" (no clue if that works with this phone).
The phone now shows GSM options, and APNs for T-Mobile US, MetroPCS, Simple, and StraightTalk. Calls, SMS, and MMS work properly. Edge, 3G, H+, and LTE all negotiate properly, and hand-off properly during calls.
More updates as I have them. =)
Cheers!
My Droid Maxx can't be rooted (already on 4.4 when I got it) so I can't say for certain how to remove software buttons on the Maxx/Ultra/Mini but if it works like my rooted Razr Maxx HD then go to Settings, Interface, Expanded Desktop. Your choices are Disabled (default), Status Bar Visible (meaning the NavBar is removed but the Status Bar on top stays) or Status Bar Hidden. I like and use the Status Bar so I chose the second option. Then click the Power button, select Expanded Desktop and choose Enabled. You may have to reboot, I can't remember. But that has reliably gotten rid of software navigation buttons for me on several rooted Razr Maxx and Razr Maxx HD phones.
gs. I am loving my Moto X running 4.4.2 except that recently the YouTube app has started causing huge drops in battery life. This is the latest app for YouTube as well. On and off Wi-Fi and yes to the Chromecast.
Try unplugging all your Chromecast active on your Wi-Fi network and use your device normally after a full charge.
I suspect Chromecast keeps the YouTube app running in the background when you're done casting videos. I have no evidence though.

In the past I always rooted my phone to install a slimmer rom and remove bloat, but with the X I've not needed to do that. I honestly have not felt the need to root and I'm looking for a solution that sees my phone's OS operating as it should that doesn't require rooting.

I'm not sure, cause I'm rooted...and I've many times had to convert you tube to a user app in order to greenify it.....so you may not be able to even do it unrooted if you tube is a system app on your phone....but greenify will work on unrooted phones now, wont it? I don't know the limitations with it tho unrooted.
But yeah, if that won't work...not sure what an unrooted phone can do about it....especially if its a system app.
