[Q] Screenrecording to SDcard? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks, i want to record to the SDcard because the internal gets full really fast. I do "android lets plays" on our YT channel and record directly from the device.
Sound is recorded via PC (my and ingame) and video comes from my Z3c. The problem is:
when recording with the build-in function of the power-menu, i cant choose where to store the video. it is stored in "storage/sdcard/movies" by default.
but i want it stored on "storage/sdcard1/movies". But the only option i found to do this, is by recording via shell command.
here do come some other problems.
1. i need to type it in every time OR i make a shell command shortcut, which i made. BUT i cant make it work, that the output filename is "*date*_*time*.mp4".
I do know that the command "date '+%F_%X'" will give me a response like "2014.11.23_13:55:34". But i cant put it as a filename. the output filename was "date '+%F_%X'.mp4"
2. i cant record more than 3 minutes that suxx the most!
3. there is no "Stop" command
so the best option would be to change the default screencapture storage to sdcard1.
Or is there any other way to make it happen? plz help and sry for my bad language.

Could not create the voice link recording directory

When MyDocuments is moved to an SD card, each time you try to create a new Note, you get this error:
"Could not create the voice link recording directory."
Also the every file shows twice in the Notes browser.
Has anyone come up with a solution yet? What does this error mean?
How can I move the default save location from "My Documents" to "My Documents\Notes"
Has anyone seen a solution for this yet?
At least does anyone else experience it?
Hi,
I am also experiencing this and have Googled the living daylight out of this but not yet found the solution. Did you?
I also get the double entries. Not only when using the Voice Recorder but also when using Notes even without a recording.
The problem that looked simulair was with the AudioManager of the HTC Touch Pro. The sollution there was to change the directories that AudioManager was scanning. There were 2 possible entries and both were set on "My Documents". However I can't find a simulair entry for Notes or Voice Recorder, but I might have overlooked it.
Also AdvancedConfig doesn't have an entry for a Notes or Voice default directory.
If there are more issues that keep being unresolved I might even consider changing the Storage Card the way it was.
Regards,
AJ
Solved: "Could not create the voice link recording directory"
Cause: This error occurs after moving the "My Documents" folder from Main Memory to a Storage Card, Internal Storage or some other location. The (misleading) error message appears becausethe Notes application still looks for templates in the original Main Memory location. Word and Excel also show (different) error messages for the same reason.
Solution: Make sure that Notes, Word, Excel etc. templates are available in the folder "\My Documents\Templates" in Main Memory even after moving My Documents to a different location.
WM6 Templates needed.
Hi,
I also have this nasty error message. I copied the templates in the \Meine Dokumente\Vorlagen Folder (= german version of \My Documents\Templates) but it doesn't helped at all. Maybe it's because they are WM5 templates. Could anyone please copy WM6 templates ti this forum?
Regards, Michael.

1- how to set a mp3 file as an incoming message or alarm tone?
2- what happens when u press the first press of the camera key while on any screen cuz it says: error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename
3-when an alarm tone rings or i receive a message i have to listen to the whole tone i cant silent can this be changed
4- can i set the defult bluetoth inbox folder from my documents on phone memory to any other folder??
5- how to select multiple files in file explorer, i mean files that r not in order like u do on a normal computer with Ctrl
that's all i can remember for now more to come many thaaaaaaaanx in advance
i just remembered 3 more
6- how to know the progress of files i'm sending?
7-how to edit the audiopara to make the phone louder or if u would kindly guide me to one already edited
8- can u also guide me to a good audio player and a good video player that plays Divx?
i know it's too much i feel that i don't really know this phone yet and i'll really appreciate any help
1) Store the corresponding mp3 files under Application Data\Sounds. Afterwards you will be able to choose the ring tone in the settings (sounds and notifications).
5) It's exactly the same. Use the Ctrl. key on the onscreen keyboard (the original one with the tiny keys, not any third party keyboards). Or use a third party explorer like Total Commander or Resco Explorer. They usually come with a multi selection function.
8) Use the official Divx Mobile from Divx.com or TCPMP (a search will do it). These are the free programs. A commercial solution is Core Player which is available on coreplayer.com.
That's my contribution I cant answer the other questions.
thanx so much, right now i'm searching for DivX mobile and u really helped me with this Ctrl thing i never use on-screen keyboard but i'll now

1.
To change the sms tone simply put a *.mp3 or *.wav file under My Documents -> Ringtones! Then go to settings -> ringer & alarm. Choose sms from the drop-down field and than associate it with the file you want.
Same thing for regular ringtones.
2.
That is because you save your numbers to the SIM. Open your contacts and look for the setting to disable SIM contacts. Then just use the phone memory.

What device are you running?
Do you use ActiveSync to sync your documents with your device?
Just put the *.mp3 in MainMemory/My Documents/Ringtones if there is such folder. Otherwise put it in MainMemory/Windows.
Just a advice. Name the file with a leading 0 - ....mp3, so it is not to difficult to find it again.
Still doesn't show up
Do you have a video guide?

What device do you have?
Which WinMo version are you running?
Regular htc diamond 1... last original rom from htc 2.03 WWE
Try this please:
Open your built-in file-explorer. Browse to the folder where your *.mp3 is in.
Long-press the file you want for ringtone. In the popup menu choose the last entry "set as ringtone".

No need to be a *.wav file. I'm running an original o2 diamond and it supports *.mp3 by default. Only alarm has to be *.wav on mine.
Or *.wma still fine.
Then copy it to the "Window" folder (must tick the "Show system folder..." and "Show hidden folder..." in Folder Options)
Well iv'e sold my diamond today. Iv'e bought it for 168.70 (second hand) and sold it for 233.58. i will add like 25$ and buy mygirlfriend HD1 (like my father has)
I hope changing ringtone there will be much easier
mp3 as sms tone
can u try putting it in "My Device" memory >> My Documents
u may not create the "Ringtone" folder... you can just paste it in "My Documents" under your Device's memory... [not the internal storage]
then go to .. Sound & Notification settings and the select Message: text ...
select the mp3 if you can see it there.. then click OK..
Im not sure if this will work on you.. but this is what I just did right now with my HTC Diamond ^_^

Set custom sms/email sounds on Samsung Ativ S

(I'm posting this in the Questions Forum because i have not enough posts to either create a topic in the Development and Hacking Forum or reply to the registry hacks-thread.
But since it's also somehow a question I hope it's ok in here.)

Edit October 15th, 2013: With the GDR3-Update you get this feature built-in, so no more need to do this then!
Hi Folks,
while AlvinPhilemon found out a registry tweak to set custom sounds on the Samsung Ativ S (as explained in this post), it is not quite practical, since you can't see the sound in the list with the others, so you can't choose or switch them without always edit the registry.
I found another way to do this, and I think it's a bit more elegant (see attachment to have a look), although it only can change the sms, e-mail or mailbox sounds.
This is what you need:
1. Interop Unlock
2. Registry Editor (use SamWP8 Tools)
3. Full File System Access (use SamWP8 Tools)
4. Your Notification sound (I tried mp3-, wav- and wma-format, all worked)
This is how you do it:
1. On your PC, browse to your Phone\PROGRAMS\CommonFiles\Sounds\ and paste your new sound there.
2. To make it visible in your sounds selection list inside the Settings-app you have to create a registry entry: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\OEM\Sounds\Notifications\ (This is the Samsung specific location for notifications; I tried the whole thing with the standard Microsoft sound location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Sounds\Notifications\ but it didn't work). In this registry location you can see a list of the the existing Samsung notification sounds ("Knock.wma", "On time.wma" and "Whistle.wma") and how their name is displayed in the Settings-app ("Knock", "On time" and "Whistle").
3. Create a new key and set the Value to the name of your soundfile (for example "Silvestro.mp3"), the Type to String and the Data to the name how you want it to be displayed. There might be an error notification after writing, but just read the key to check you wrote it correctly.
4. Done! Go to the Settings-app and choose the newly created sound as message, mailbox, or e-mail-sound!
What do you think of this solution? Of course it would be nice to pack this feature in an app that first lets you choose a soundfile from the Public or SD-Folder, then copies it, then creates a registry entry and then also is able to delete those things an put everything back to normal, but since I'm just starting with C# there's no way I can do this myself. Anybody interested in trying?
Thanks for your comments!
Very nice work, and good tutorial. It would, indeed, be good to get an app to automate this. You would need ID_CAP_SOUND_CONTROL (may require full capability unlock); this capability should enable both the requisite file system and registry access.
It's a shame that is not available by default like on every other smart and dumb phone in the world. This is one of WP many short comings that MS refuses to address.
Thanks
Nice tuturial, thanks.
I am a satisfied galaxy s4 owner. Before this phone i had the htc 8x. I liked wp8 a lot, but unfortunally some essential apps (for me) where still missing. Beside the very good os, i also like all the default sounds. Thats where my question comes in.
I'm looking for the complete set of Windows phone 8 notification sounds. Is it possible to copy them from a wp8 phone and post them here? I would like to have the windows sounds in my galaxy.
Great news!
With the GDR3-update comes the feature to set custom sounds for Messages/Mailbox/Reminder!
So this is no longer needed...
more easy way
I just renamed my ringtone the same as the existing tone in the map \PROGRAMS\CommonFiles\Sounds\.
Then I renamed the original sound (I have put "old" in front of the original tekst.)
Now I copied the rington in the map \PROGRAMS\CommonFiles\Sounds\.
Choose the ringtone on your phone, and it plays your ringtone.
I converted the mp3 ringtone to wma. I didn't try if it plays mp3.
The name of the original ringtones doesn't match the name in the phone, but you can play them first on your pc, to see witch one to replace.

Question Edited video to be under 0.5 sec and now can't revert

Hello,
I Have used the native video editor to edit a video and saved it after trimming it to a very short length.
now i can open it in the editor because its to short and can revert it.
anyone know where the backup file path is?
If you havent use option "save as copy" then there is no backup of that video file.
There is, the new default is to save as copy behind the scenes, i can prove it with a new video
Then the original video must be inside DCIM, videos folder.
It is not, whats inside DCIM is the edited one
anyone else have an idea?
My idea is maybe you accidentally make a mistake, and chose the wrong option that instructed the phone to overwrite the original long video with the short edited one.
Put another way, I think it's impossible to prove what action you performed/selected, but all the evidence you have points to that action being choosing overwrite instead of choosing save as copy.
Put a third way, it seems like you are trying to disbelieve the evidence you have in front of you on the phone, and insist that you took a different action with no supporting evidence that you did.
Sorry to sound negative. Can you find any other evidence on the phone? Maybe you can connect the phone to a computer and use Samsung's windows application called "Smart Switch" to fully backup everything from the phone to the computer's storage. Also, consider manually copying everything from the phone to the computer. Then, you can forensically sift through the copy on the Windows computer, without worry that you might accidentally harm or irreversibly delete any of the files on the phone.
