Help with unbrick! [Serious help]! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all!
So I felt over this easy root guide, but the article didn't say anything about the correct version and so on. I managed to root the phone but got the loop reboot. after that i tried with some kind of pit file. After some research i figuired out that I had done all wrong. After that i manged to install WCM but thats not what i really need now!
My problem now is that i cant enter my phone at all. I have tried to use heimdall, but I can't install the driver that needs to be used for my device. I can still enter the download mode, but I cant find all the files to unbrick it?
So far as i remember, the latest firmware and version of the phone was 2.3.6 and XWJW8.(Thats weird because im from Denmark, and XWJW8 is for Australia?)
I was hoping that someone could help me find all the files: pit file, PDA, Phone and CSC because everytime i find some stock files, its only the PDA file? or Am I wrong?
I use Odin 1.85 and I just want my phone to work again, so I can root it!
I hope there is a friendly soul out there who can help me Its my first time Im trying to trying all this stuff with a android phone.
Thanks in advance!
Edit:
I have just tried to download this: I9000XWJWB_I9000NEEJW2_NEE.zip and tried to install it, but my phone reboots everytime. Can it has something to be that I have tried to use a PIT file before i found this stock? I can turn it on now and it loads with the S logo, but it just restarts after it has loaded

You need JVU it has the boot loaders you need. Use PIT 512. Use Odin with it.
JVU: http://www.google.com/m?hl=en-GB&source=android-browser-type&q=I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA.zip
and after here is kernel with root and cwm. Out into PDA on Odin no repartition: http://download.chainfire.eu/132/CF-Root/SGS/

Thanks man!
But i have a new problem. The phone can't enter the internet. I can only connect via Wifi I wanted to root because I wanted to use my 3G network abd
Nevermind! Got it working! I added a APN from my carriers homepage, with setup and help!

[Q] Help, phone stuck booting?!

I flashed darky's rom with the voodoo lag fix and then stupidly tried to flash over the top my recovery file. now its stuck loading. can't access recovery mode but can access download mode... any ideas?
Just posted this in another thread, with similar issues, try this, should fix it.
--------------------------------
HI,
Try the following, worked for me
1) Go into recovery mode and wipe both cache and partition data
2) go to samfirmware.com and download the original rom for your phone (the one that came with it)... since you don't say what region you're from, I'll give you an example with mine. Mine is from Bell, and factory comes with UGJH2, so i downloaded that with ODIN and the PIT FILE, make sure to extract the TAR file from inside the RAR file. Put all 3 files in the same folder
3) Enter download mode, when the phone is in that state sometimes it's hard to access download, best way is... remove the battery, put it back in, then hold VOL DN + HOME + POWER until you see a working android bot inside a triangle. When you see that, connect your phone to your PC, double click on ODIN, then load the PIT file (CHECK BOX RE-PARTITION leave the others to default) and Select PDA and find the TAR file you extracted in STEP 2... then click on START, it's gonna take a few mins, and even after it's done, it's going to reboot, and it'll stay at the "S" logo for a bit, leave it, then it'll boot.
At least we hope it will.
Keep us posted,
Thank you,
Rodi.

Can't get into recovery mode only download mode?! I'm on orange uk custom galaxy S Rom 2.1 originally. shall i just follow your steps but use a stock samsung android firmware?
Thanks Alot btw!
Yeah keep going with the download mode, it's very possible that the recovery mode process is not even necessary, but since I have no way of testing, it's doesn't hurt to try.
so get the orig rom, with pit associated with its (u'll see in on sam firmware which pit you need, most likely 512 for stock out of the box).
Keep us posted

[Q] Firmware flash with Odin problem GT-i9000M

Today, my phone became laggy and I restarted my phone, however it didn't boot past the samsung galaxy s i900m screen. It never reaches the animation screen.
This happened before and after hours of trying different methods i sent it in to get fixed but now it has happened again and i want to see if i can fix it myself.
I have tried to flash it with I9000UGKC1 without any PIT file and repartition unticked and odin had completed it successfully but the phone just cycles back into the boot screen.
Ive tried flashing it again with the same firmware and a 512 PIT file with repartition ticked and unticked but its always the same result.
Is there anything I am doing wrong or are there any other suggestions?
p.s I have rooted the phone and applied a lagfix.
Thanks in advance.
Rule one before flashing UNDO LAGFIX lagfix F**** your install .
jje
Hi dude,
Try flashing with the ODIN included.
Hopefully, it will fix your problem
P.S. if nothing works try flashing Darky's resurrection edition
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940671&highlight=[ODIN+ROM]
Good luck!
Thanks for the replies guys.
jje, i would disable it now but since it's bricked i dont think i can. Also i cant get into recovery mode. Im only getting into download mode because i bought myself a jig the last time this happened.
Nitro, i dont know what you mean by "ODIN included" ive been using odin to flash it.
What is Darky's by the way? Is it a custom ROM?
darkys is a custom rom... and Im pretty sure he meant he had attached odin for you.
Maybe try flashing JL2 with 512 and part checked..? does odin flash without an issue? and do you get any errors when trying to enter recovery?
Oh okay... well i was using odin 1.7 anyway
odin flashes without an issue and i cant get into recover because my phone is one of the unfortunate ones without 3BR.
I'll try flash it again as you said but if it doesnt work ill just go ahead and send it in to get fixed.
there are phones with no 3BR? I thought it was only 3 button download??? So odin flashed without any issues and you still cannot boot?
What firmware are you flashing?
Try JL2/KC1 maybe try a gb like JVO
usually the phones can't get into either.
i had to buy a jig to get into download mode.
ive tried KC1, JL2 and some others for android 2.1 and the same keeps happening. Odin flashes fine but the phone never boots
I'm just going to send it in to get fixed. I was just seeing if it was me doing something wrong or its just the phone and well it seems like its the phone.
Thanks for your help
if you can hit download mode you should be able to flash it, does adb work for you to get into recovery i think it's something like
adb reboot recovery.....not sure on that though, anyways, try flashing a new kernel, go to the dev section and flash hardcore speedmod then flash the rom again, at this point I dont think it matters so I would try using a 512 pit and tick repartition......just me though, i'd be trying everything before I sent it away

[Q] ODIN - Check image files !! Works for others though...

So I've downloaded the following kernels from a link here on XDA that should be swapping kernels to allow me root on my recently upgraded, stock ROGERS 2.3.3 Captivate. Odin is telling me to "Check image files !!" when I load the .tar files into the Select Intergrated Package (and yes, the one package switch is on). I opened the tar to double check it wasn't double-compressed.
What else would be giving me this problem? I'm using Odin 4.28. Curiously, it is showing my phone as detected, my phone IS in downloading mode, but Odin just says (Android) in the Title, no specific model. But it says it's found it on COM 6. <1> Added!! and Detected!!
It's when I load up the kernel tar's and try to start that it yells at me. Is this triggering anything in anyone's mind that I'm doing wrong? Or do I need to provide more info?
I am using Vista 32-bit (legit) on a Dell studioXPS. And I ran it as administrator.
never heard of ODIN 4.28. i think its only up to version 1.82 or so.
sounds like you are using the wrong ODIN

Yeah. That is def the wrong version of Odin. Download the i9000 bootloaders in my sig. Unzip it. Delete the pda.tar.md5 file. Use the included version of Odin (1.82 I think) to flash your kernel.
Alright, quick question - I accidentally flashed the phone, not the pda. I tried to flash the KH2 modem back via phone but ODIN failed. Kies is currently not detecting the phone, and so I decided to try flashing the PDA while I had it open and I would figure the modem out after. ODIN hung, so I closed it and rebooted out of downloading mode and got the Phone ! Computer error. So I figure now I have to flash back to the stock rom and start over again, but this time I would like some advice as to which step to take next. I downloaded I896UXKH2-HOMEBINARY.tar.md5 from another thread here. Can I flash this with Odin - and if so, which is the place to load it? Bootloader? PDA? Phone? CSC? I have no PIT files.
Think it goes into the pda slot. Go back to the thread t you got it from and read the first post of the thread. Also restart your computer before trying to flash again.
can someone upload the modem.zip, please thank you

ics

Hello im new in this forum and i just want to know if possible if there is any ics rom for I9000 to upgrade whith odin or heimdall since im not able to get the recovery menu in my galaxy
Is there a reason you cannot root your phone and install cwm?....full guide and download links to the files needed here : http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-root-xwjvb-and-install-clockwork-mod-cwm-recovery/
I have tried that already i think its hard briked cod if i turn im off i cant turn im on anymore only if i flash him again
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
you may have better luck finding stock files to flash through odin, your going to want the 512 pit file and I9000UGJL2Complete (thats your PDA file) and make sure you check the re-partition box!!! let its reboot and it should be like purchasing from day one.
Put it into download mode again and then put speedmod-kernel-k13e-500hz (PDA file) in the PDA box, and only have that file present, with re-partition UNCHECKED this time. let run and when it reboots it should still work (cause its running froyo 2.2) and be the same
however now you should be able to boot into CWM recovery to flash custom rom. if you want, before flashing the speedmod kernel you can run superuser1click to install superuser.
Hope that helps!!
Ok i will try that but im not sure if it will work cos even in download mode i only have a black screen and the two lights from the soft keys

[Q] Need help de-bricking

Hi guys for the last 2 days I've been trying to debrick my software bricked gt-i9000.
I've trawled the site and most of the links for what I need are now dead.
I really need a trust worth 512.pit file and I can not find one. Its driving me up the wall
Google is a labyrinth of shaddy looking poo, and the xda threads are mostly months old and out of date (aka the links are dead).
Basically I'm having the /dbdata invalid argument issue. I can't flash to a standard 2.3.3 and as far as I can understand I need to repartition and use a legit 512.pit file with a 2.2.1 build or something similarly old.
I tried to put cyanogen 7.1 on one of my galaxy s phones, the other has ICS on it and is working great, but I buggered this one up :/
Help me oh lords of the interwebs you are my only hope.
Here you are .
Ah ****e.
I think I used a screwy 512.pit file
My phone is hanging in download mode now and odin has been saying "DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET" for about 15-20min.
Thanks man, now to try and flash this thing again.
Sadly, it didn't work.
I still get the red writing and the install fails and boot loops. I'll have to take it to some one that knows more than I because I can't damn well figure it out :/
Cheers for the help

maybe you can post your setting in odin here?
The usually way to unbrick terminal with download mode working is to flash a full gb firmware without repartition if you wasn't on cm like firmware or with repartition if you had cm or other rom with mtd partition system.

Try flashing just a kernel...

From ics/CM7/miui to stock GB: Use 512.PIT, tick re-partition in Odin.
All links in Ramads thread are valid mediafire downloads. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14273101
Follow instructions in same thread how to put PDA, MODEM and CSC in Odin.
Important: Click 'Start' 5 - 10 sec. after you have connected USB cable. Odin will timeout looking for phone if you wait too long.

Have you tried Heimdall & a Heimdall packaged firmware?
Worked for me when I was attempting to go back to stock & Odin screwed up mid flash. I find Odin a pain & I blame it for screwing it up (& maybe partly my own fault)
Let me know if you need the files - the firmware is named as XWJVZ.
