Steps
1.Go to your dial pad and dial number *#*#4636#*#*
2.You will get 4 options. Select 1st option 'phone information'.
3.Scroll down and select 'only wcdma'
Or
Simply download network app from play store
Note- Settings will change on every boot..
Enjoy!!!!!

Edge only toggle?

Does it exist on the captivate? I cant find a way to run my phone in edge only to save battery....
Thanks.
You'd have to run certain custom ROM's that have it enabled. Unfortunately they change so often I cannot remember which one offered it.
I would check Auxura ROM in the dev forum here - I "think" they had that feature enabled.

You could try the following:
Put your phone in service mode by dialing *#*#197328640#*#*
Then type 1 for Debug
Then 8 for Phone Control
Then 4 for UE State Control
and then 3 to change to GSM
then Menu-> exit.

Yep, that's what I do during the week as the 3G signal by my office isn't so great. To go back to 3G, it's option 2 instead of 3 (WCDMA).
Think there's a way to create Launcher Pro buttons to have it switch using shortcuts instead of having to dial all that?
just to add some additional info.
Running Axura 2.4, you have the following options in the usual settings menu => Wireless and Network => Mobile Network Settings
GSM/CDMA
GSM Only
CDMA Only

I just added the number as a contact. Whenever I want to access it, it pops right up after dialing #.

Updated to ICS, now Network Mode disabled

How do I go about re-enabling this option? I'd like to be able to toggle my 4g off to save battery.

Two options on ICS:
Grab LTE On/Off (Thunderbolt) from Play Store
Dial *#*#4636#*#* on your dialer
The dialer method simply gets you one step up higher in the Testing menu; go to Phone Information.
Scroll down the page a bit to see the Radio setting; it's the dark grey on black control, right above the Turn Off radio button, that by default reads LTE/CDMW/EvDo. Change to CDMA auto (PRL)

N910F Network Mode

Hi to all !
In my note 4 910F "HUI" H3G ITA Lollipop BOC3 is possible activate in search network menu mode LTE only ? I have LTE/WCDMA/GSM - WCDMA/GSM - only WCDMA - only GSM not only LTE .In kitkat with exposed are possible install module in lollipo no.
Any solution ?
my device is rooted!
you can set it "LTE only" from the service menu (there was a thread here on the Note 4 forum about that menu),
but you wouldn´t be able to call, because calls are handled over "3G" thats why it isn´t selctable from the normal settings
Before having the option in the menu was necessary for easy selection. In the service menu it is very inconvenient select every time.

[GUIDE]USB/BT/WiFi Tethering without root

1 · Download and install QuickShortcutMaker and open the app.
2 · Scroll down to Service Program Menu (it may appear as serviceprogramu) and tap on it to expand all the activities under it.
3 · Scroll down to IOT Hidden Menu.
4 · Tap 'Create' - this will create a shortcut to IOT Hidden Menu on your home screen.
5 · Press the Home softkey and locate the new shortcut and tap it.
6 · Tap LTE Settings then tap APN Settings*then tap on*Internet.
7 · Scroll down and search for APN Type.
8 · Tap on APN Type and add following APN type to it ‘dun‘ separating it with a comma (no spaces, and no single quotes)
9 · To save these settings you need to hold and down Multitasking/recent or the Overview button on the navigation bar, this will bring up the option to save your settings.
10 · Tap Save.
11 · Now go to System Settings, and in the Network select Tethering. Attempt to enable WiFi hotspot or USB tethering if your G4 is connected to your computer by USB cable. If you get the pop-up about needing to subscribe to a tethering package, or “Due to network issues, tethering has been disabled”, you need to go back to your home screen and tap the shortcut again and continue from Step 6, but instead of selecting Internet in the APN settings you will select ‘cinet.spcs’ and add dun to the apn type.
You should now have the ability to enable WiFi, USB and Bluetooth tethering without root access and without PdaNet+ or any other pay apps.

Ummm, already posted this way before you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g4/general/how-to-free-mobile-hotspot-root-t3165049
You didn't even bother to give me credit.

Of course I didn't bother to give you credit. I have never even seen your post until you linked it. Why would I give credit to you if you had absolutely nothing to do with my post?
That's like saying anyone that starts a fire with two sticks should give credit to Cody Lundin because he's used the same method to achieve the end result.
This is pretty much the same method for a bunch of different LG phones that don't allow easy editing of APN settings without root, and I'm pretty certain if you mess around long enough there's ways to do it with Non-LG phones but I've been using this method since the LG Marquee in 2011. I could even post the really long way of using CDMA workshop, but this way is faster.
FYI you can do USB or BT Tether completely stock and nothing on your plan.
Mine is ZVA and IOT QuickShortcutMaker's shortcut does not work. It just says "Application is not installed".
Any suggestion?

The consensus seems to be that you need to downgrade your phone back to ZV6, then use the shortcut maker technique while in ZV6. Then you upgrade to ZV9 and access your running apps where you'll find the shortcut maker still present from running it earlier under ZV6. Pin that window in ZV9. Then upgrade to ZVA. The shortcut maker should still be present in your previous apps, pinned. So, in ZVA, you can access that pinned page to perform the edit to add ,dun and get wifi. I haven't done this, but there is another thread on this site outlining all the steps/tools you use to perform the downgrade (I think it's LGUP and LG flash or something).

Android Settings Shortcut

So here's the thing. I always use the *#*#4636#*#* code to change to LTEonly/WCDMAonly/GSMonly. To be honest, it seems quite a task to go into the dialer every time to enter the settings option. I've tried using the Network mode changer apps on play store, but they all seem to change it to LTE preferred rather than LTE only. I wanted to know if there was a way i could create a shortcut to enter these settings, or maybe a widget that would allow me to change the settings like this.
Settings >> Mobile networks >> Preferred network type.
