Hey guys please help me. I want to take a loot at other roms like slimkat and aosp 5.0 (because this rom is a bit laggy) but ı can only use cyanogen 11 4.4.4 by maclaw (thank you so much and novafusion). Recovery works well and I can flash everything correctly. But other roms makes phone boot loop. Like I said: ı can only use cyanogen rom help me at fixing this. I really wonder Slimkat 8.9. Format your system partition in recovery back to ext4. Slimkat and AOSP ROM 5.0 only support ext4 file system.

[Q] Dual Booting Galaxy S?

I have had a look around, and I have yet to find a way for an i9000 to have two ROMs installed.
Is there such a thing? I'd like to have CyanogenMod 10 (stable) installed as my primary ROM, and CM 10.1 (nightly) installed as a second partition, and a way to chose which to boot into.
Can someone point me in the right direction for this?

What's the purpose?
Cm 10.1 is much more better than 10. Trust me. Go for it.

I don't think it's possible for you to have both cm10 and cm10.1 dual booting but there is a dual boot kernel that allows two 4.2 ROMs by dertufuel search devil dual boot kernel

That was more of an example. 10.1 would be the first I got, and if I had more slots I'd add on other ROMs that weren't Cyanogen.
I'd mix and match the ROMs, I just needed a simple example of what I wanted so anyone could understand
I did actually install 10.1, a couple of things I liked, others I didn't. For now, I'm sticking with 10.0, but I'd like to dual boot some other non-Cyanogen ROMs to see what they're like

Even without both Cyanogens, if I can get CM10 as my phone ROM, and another of whatever kind as a second, that'll do me. As I said in my last quote, CM10 and 10.1 were just examples, I would eventually download other ROMs to try.
Thanks by the way, I'll look into your suggestion

There is a dual boot kernel from 'devil' but it only supports 4.1.2 roms.

Its not possible now to make dual boot with DerTeufel1980 DualBoot - Devil4.2 (04-Feb-2013) and its working on 4.2.1 roms, not 4.1.2.
Many thanks to him...:good:
The Q is: Can anybody recommend which rom is suitable to use with this kernel?

Hi buddy you can try different custom roms for SSG3 mini one of them is Maclaw's CM10.1 you can check out the Dmod Rom too it's on version 6 by now, there are also pacman and AOKP custom roms as well as enox and benz rom, there are some other more roms but these are the most used by people around, (there isn't a paranoid rom until I know and unfortunately there isn't a MIUI rom either ) i'm personally using carmor rom that is based on Dmod rom v6 good luck trying out pal

Install a custom recovery, easiest way to install is by downloading goo.im (TWRP) or rom manager (CWM), just choose either one
then you can flash custom packages in recovery, and you might also want to flash the 3 button mod to enter recovery

already done installing a new custom rom i tried the [ROM][AROMA][DEODEX]DMod v6 its cool.. thanks all
CM10.1 and AOKP are very good but lacking the ability to record videos.. Dmod is my favourite stock based ROM but they're all worth trying.
My first custom ROM on this phone was benzrom, no problems there.
PAC ROM and paranoid android were a bit slow for my liking. Perhaps they're not as suited to this phones speed.
I'm currently using AOKP by maclaw studio and it is my favourite as its very smooth and light, and has good customization.

I haven't tried AOKP yet, how about recording videos on that rom? Is worth trying?

[Q][I9001] Dual Boot Kernel for CM 10.1

Hi all,
I hope this is the right section for my answer.
I want to install CM 10.1 ION on my S plus, as a secondary ROM. The last version is release 4, but the dual boot kernel is released at 2013-12-26.
Is it support the changeset made in ROM?
Thanks in advance
Regards,
Jack

That is near impossible. Not because of the inability to make a dual-boot kernel, but the size of the /system partition. I'm guessing it's around 620 MB. Let's take a hypothetical situation that someone DOES make a dual-boot compatible Kernel, and you install two ROMs, Gapps will be a problem. You must be wondering "But then there's the tiny Gapps!". But in Tiny Gapps , There is a 99% (sorry for exaggeration) chance that it won't include all the libs for other google apps to work. I'm saying this by experience, If I'm wrong, you have full liberty to correct me.
Hit Thanks if I helped!

Try reading what I wrote again, even if there is a kernel, There won't be enough space in the ROM

Sorry but I don't understand.
Four month ago I installed CM 10.1 R1 with dual boot kernel and GApps without problems. (no space problem)
Now, the rom version is CM 10.1 R4, but kernel is not update, so I don't know if a old kernel could be support the new ROM version.
I don't think that the space is the problem, because I have already install CM10.1 R1 as secondary ROM (also with GApps)
I hope I described my question clearly

Jack

SGSA has no seperate recovery. The recovery is in the same partition as the kernel. So you can't replace recovery without replacing kernel.
But you can try to install a custom rom from TWRP 2.6.0.0.
If you want to have TWRP 2.7.1.0 install universal kernel flasher, flash slimkats kernel and reboot to recovery.
But then you have to install a rom because your JB system won't start with a KK kernel.

[Q] Soft reboot on CM 11 based ROMs

Hello all
Since I can't find any answer (or questions) about this, I'll ask for you!
My phone gets randoms soft-reboots while using any CM11 based ROM (CM, LS, Vanir, Omni). It gets worse when I switched to LiquidSmooth by Mourta with 3.4 Mourta's kernel. With ROMs like Beanstalk, Lego or stock 4.1.2 I don't have that issue (with stock or other kernels).
Edit: after soft reboot, launcher's wallpaper resets to stock one.
Any help will be very helpful!

I always make a clean install, formatting Data/Cache/Dalvik/System. After download, I verify MD5 (if avaliable).
Strange is that only happens with CM11 ROMs.
I don't know, just a guess, but does recovery have something with this? (I'm using TWRP).
I used to get problems like this on mourta's kernel, but not on pure cm11. I am using CWM
Ok, the problem is "auto-solved".. I don't know, but it just stopped, and the rom is very good. I did't make any changes, nothing, and the soft reboots are gone.
