Hi,
i want to buy a second tablet. I already use an amoazon fire 7 (2015) with SlimLP.
If i would buy an old nexus 7 (2012 - 1st Gen) Tablet - which one would be faster?
Nexus 7 has better display (1280x800) and there are Android 6 MM Roms out already.
Is here someone who knows both tablets and can help me with my decision?
On pictures nexus 7 looks like the same big size as fire 7 is - very thick and big black frame around the display. Is this nearly the same?
For me the Amazon one feels a whole lost faster, the N7 2012 is a great nexus tablet but feels sluggish at times. I've tried with various ROMs, but then got this instead. Just make sure you root and change the launcher, the Amazon one isn't great.
First thing i did with my amazon fire was installing TWRP and flashing SlimLP.
I was thinking, nexus 7 (2012) would be much faster than fire. And now you can get used nexus 7 for the same price like new amazon fire.
Pro nexu 7:
- GPS
- higher display resolution
- Android 6 MM

Can't say that I'm surprised. But our phone would have benefited from a better, more system wide multi window.

I doubt it because in 2017, that's beyond's note 4's 2 year support. 2016 is the end. and also, if you look at the Note 3, it got its last update in dec. 2015 and it is still 5.0. That was "27" months of support for the Note3.
Using the note 3 as the base, if we were to get android 7, we would have to get it by dec. 2016.

note 4 was launched in sept. Nougat came before sept.

Yea your right. But that is assuming Samsung release Android 7 "on time". Looking back at Android 6, it came out of Google on October 2016. The first note 4s got Marshmellow around June 2016, 8 months after Google released it. But this is still within note 4's 2 year period (note 4 came oUT on Oct. 2014).
Since android 7 was released in Aug 2016, this means that Samsung has around 4 months to release Android 7 to us before 2016 is over. Looking at the past examples, now do you see why I doubt we will get it? Of course this is all my speculation and I'll happily be wrong if do end up getting it.
Samsung mostly gives 2 major system updates to any flagship phone.
Since gingerbread i have been observing that every two version of android looks similar .
Excluding honeycomb cause it was only for tabs.
That also explains why every two versions of touchwiz look similar.
Gingerbread and ICS had many similarities, jelly bean and kitkat had similarities and also lollipop and marshmallow.
This is why the odd galaxy notes(1,3,5) have always been lucky .
There last update isn't similar to previous one , infact there is a major change in terms of UI and features.
For eg. Note 1's last update was jellybean , which was completely different than ICS .
Same for note 3 , whose last update was lollipop , a major upgrade over kitkat .
But unfortunately the even notes have been unlucky.
The note 2's last update was kitkat , which wasn't a big upgrade over jellybean , the UI was almost identical.
And as for the note 4 ,its last update is marshmallow , which samsung decided not to modify for note 4 and hence looks similar to lollipop.

Hello ,
Google stopped with updates to the nexus 6, is this the end ?
Is it possibly to bullhead from the nexus 5x firmware to the nexus 6?

So many great devs for the n6, I wouldn't worry so early.

Hi... Do you mean porting N5x firmware to N6?? Nexus 5x has a 64 bits processor, Nexus 6 a 32 bits processor. Not gonna happen...
As @coremania stated, there are many good devs yet working on N6.
The n6 will be fine until the switch to all 64 bit standards are completed. Maybe another year.
Will you go with other (newer) nexus, pixel or maybe some Chinese replacement ?
my two cents:
what i learn about android is that you can own a really piece of sh*t "smarthphone" but with a custom rom it becomes a useful device...
i'm not comparing flagships with entry level (it's ridiculous) but i had own an LG optimus ONE p500 with cyanogenmod and it run great and now nexus 4 with lineage os.
my next device is gonna be a entry level devices with a custom rom... xiaomi redmi 4x seems to be the right one to me.

I suggest you to buy an android one supported device, 2 major updates and 3 years of security patches... The xiaomi mi a1 is relatively known atm, also the BQ aquaris x2 (pro) will launch on 9th of May and Nokia (6 in example) has a whole set of android one devices in various price ranges...
Android One is definitely the way to go for me, guaranteed software support is important, especially after owning a Oneplus2 and 3t as my last devices with dropped support to nearly zero after just 14 months...

Actially i changed 4 nexus 4s. I also have nexus 5 which needs repair. I bought from ebay damaged nexus 5 to repair mine. After nexus 4 i'll stick to nexus 5 for couple years. I do not like nexus 6 and 6p. 5x is a disaster with it's bootloop problem. maybe in 2020 i'll buy pixel 2 5"model. I do not like spending more then 100$-110$ on a phone. I bought this exact nexus 4 which i am writing this post feom exactly for 21 $. It's almost free hardware and it runs android 8.1 oreo and sailfiah os thanks to xda. That is why i like this device. Every alternative os runs on it. Firefox os, ubuntu touch, sailfish...
