I've 2 xperia z which semi bricked in one month . Both device were unlocked , rooted and on 4.4.4 stock.
It started with following symptomps
1 First battery started to shows wrong battery percentage
2 Then it started to drain drastically
3 At latter stage the device were not charging
4 Then a time came whenever I opened some apps it started to shut down
4 At last stage , the device only booted when charger connected .
The two device are having almost same symptoms .
I can flash the .ftf file through flashtool . I tried every stock and custom firmware. I changed the battery , cable and still the same problem.
There is one more thing on both device , I'm not getting green light when pressing the down button while connecting device to my laptop . But even thought I can flash .ftf on red light using flashtool.
Recently if you search in youtube or here in xda forums or in other forum site like talk.sonymobile.com, you can see 100s of people getting this problem. May be there is some charging or battery bug on 4.4.4 which get's triggered with some combination. My two devices are semibricked and this cannot be co incidence.
If you have similar stories or if you have any solution to this problem , Please post below.

From what i see, it may be a H/W issue for u with the battery.. I do experience "No green LED" when connected in flashmode, but no battery drain drastically or anything, but i think urs is an awkward co-incidence of both phones having battery drains.. Did u flash any other fw's like 4.3 or 4.2? Do u still have the same issue? If so, i advice to get ur battery replaced.. For confirmation, check your battery health.. Press *#*#7378423#*#* and enter Service tests..

Battery seems fine. Tried with new battery too. Same problem .. I also checked battery health using *#*#7378423#*#* ... It reads battey is ok no need to change battey.
By using sony mobile battery test , on moth mobile I get same error as quickstyler . But his fix didn't work .. Temperature outsidelimit 15-40°c
Battery temperature minus -30°

Buddy, did u clean install all the ROMs u tried? Format system, data, cache and dalvik cache and then install.. Plus u need to caliberate ur battery, i.e charge to 100% and use the phone til it shuts down.. Doing this for 3-5 charge cycles will caliberate the battery usage.. Try that and see..

Thanks for the reply
I clean installed the rom using cwm ( Factory data, wiping dalvik cache, data, system etc) , Clean installed using flash tool, Eveything I tried.
May be these are the three problem that lies in my mobile
1 Bootlolader corrupted ...
2 Corrupted partition.
3 And last I can confirm based on the other thread... Issue with battery connector to the motherboard. There is a fix provided by quickstyler in help & toubleshooting section ( Charging bug hadware fix) ... But that didn't solve the battery issue either.

I found i possible solution but i dont have the entire information
some users of Xperia (C6605) Z are welding a wire from the battery to the mb because the connector of the battery is cheap and dont transmits the necessary information about the temperature and percentage. (the connector is the same)
So my problem is, where is this point in to mb that we have to weld?
Any help??

Hello people,
I have searched a lot on google en XDA to solve my problem, but i can't find it. The temperature of my Samsung Galaxy s GT-i9000 is to low, to be exact -7° degrees.
The problem is that i can't charge my phone now. The phone says: Charging paused. Battery temperature is too high or too low.
Can anyone help me, is would appreciate it a lot!
That's unusual to be honest ^^ , maybe if you put your phone ( or the battery ) in a worm place this problem will be solved , lol i can't even imagine what you've done to make it -7degrees ..
If the temperature of the phone is nrml and you're getting this msg for no reason u can reset it to factory settings , this will probably fix any software problems.
Good luck
i have reset a lot of times my factory settings. Do you have more solutions? (sorry for my English, i speak dutch) Thanks
did u flash any rom?
How old is your phone(battery)
Try a factory wipe,as suggested in the above post, maybe it's an app that caused the prob
I know for sure it's not my battery because had a other battery in it and it said the same. What i was forgotten to say was that my computer recognize my phone as a samsung galaxy, that is really strange. He doesn't want to charge.
Can you manage to get into recovery mode (by clicking vol up+home+power)? If you can, go to "advanced>wipe battery stats", and see if that fixes the problem.
did u flash any rom(kernel) if not, then I think your battery chipset is broken.
If u did flash any rom try format your system in recovery and flash a new rom first from cwm and if this doesn't fix then format again and flash a rom with Odin
Good luck
Yes i can it didn't work. Could a Kernel help me? Or has anyone have a link to rom which could help me?
Stock rom(jvu) get it from sammobile.com or search for darky's rom and flash this through ODIN.if u never tried odin then search and read how to use it
Thanks i'll try to install the darky rom. I tell you if it helps and when it doesn't i tell is also.
Have you flashed custom rom before? If yes try darky or something. If no is your phone still under warranty? If yes don' t flash anything and take it in. If no flash darky or other rom to see if you can resolve issue.

Thanx ,cos I never heard of this problem before,so it would be nice with a follow up
Hope u will get fixed.
Good luck m8
Sorry m8 it didn't work. I installed the darky rom and the problem is still there. I installed the Rom by CWM recovery. It couldn't work with odin
Could anyone help me with this problem?
Use darky's 10.2 TAR file this is flashable with Odin or any other .tar file.
@RAMAD rooted roms is tar and only flashed in Odin.search ramad
it diden't work. Could it be solved with a secret code or something? I don't think it is a hardware problem because i can connect with my computer.

Hi, did you find a solution to the problem? I have the same problem after leaving my phone in a hammock in the rain (probably not the greatest of ideas). The phone works fine, but won't charge the battery. My solution so far was to buy a separate charger to charge the battery (about $10 from Amazon), but if there is a way to stop the battery check that would be much better than having to take out the battery every day to charge it.

Svein

I'm having the same issue. It just started yesterday. Even with low use the phone gets hot and it won't let me charge it. I keep getting the battery temperature error. Even when it's powered off. I went into recovery mode as suggested by a previous poster and there is no advanced options that I can see. I'm not rooted and bone stock. Very frustrating. I've also tried another OEM battery to no avail.

umm sorry, that's not what i mean.. what i mean is calibrating the battery via battery calibration app. have you calibrated? it's available on play store, requires root unfortunately, if you're not rooted.
i suspect your phone is reading incorrect battery levels, therefore requires calibration
Callibrating batterystats (thus: wiping) does not fix this issue...
Google has stated a while ago that wiping batterystats is useless. The batterystats you can find in enegymanagment is only to provide a overview about the use of the battery and nothing more
To calibtrate your battery you can/need to do this:
- Fully charge your phone (while off)
- Use phone untill it turns off from empty battery
- recharge again
- Use again
Done (this is also needed to fully train a new one)

So my phone's not yet fixed since the 25th of December due to sudden death - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2585068
We had it checked again last Thursday, January 3rd. The technician said that the replacement of motherboard is not yet clear to be the best solution as the technicians from the Sony Service Center hadn't opened the phone yet. He said that it might have been a cause of a dead or death boot. Has anyone heard of it? He says not only Sony phones are experiencing this dead or death booth, even other brands. Kind of random. He said that the phone somewhat hangs, the screen isn't on but the system is still running which causes the phone to become warm or hot. And he also said that this lead to the battery getting totally drained. As per him, once the battery is totally drained it won't get charged even if I try to charge the phone for a number of hours. So what he will do when I get back to him on Monday is he will first try to shock the battery to see if it will be revived (which I hope this is just the case) and then dload some firmwares or softwares to fix the unit.
I hope this ordeal will be solved this following week as it's been so inconvenient on my part and I terribly miss my phone.
One of possibility is that they will open the back cover, pull out the battery and charge it to full, then they put it back and flash the stock firmware. With battery charged they have enough time for flashing and the phone should turn on. If it's Sony Center to do that they will also seal the phone as original to get fully working waterproof.

I really, really, really hope it'd work. For the waterproofing it would be fine to take it to the Sony service centre just to have the full waterproofness back.:good:

Hey guys, do the devs a favour: NOT EVERY SIMPLE BOOTLOOP IS A BRICKED DEVICE!!!
Just go to recovery and wipe everything, it then should boot without problems.
if it doesn't, first check yourself (e.g. did you flash a 4.4 kitkat without flashing a new kernel for it?)
the answers for nearly all problems are here on xda-developers ... just read, read and read and understand ... if you don't know, what you do with flashing your device, what the partitions data / cache / system are for, what a kernel is or what the differences between stock roms, custom rom releases and nightly builds is, you simply SHOULD NOT flash your device.
If you understand what you are doing and if THAT ALL doesn't help you and you think you have a problem noone else have (i allready had such a thing with my defy+, it got bootloop and it was a dead memory chip) THEN (and just then) post your problem here. The devs simply don't have the time to help everyone who simply can't read the existing threads.
Thanks (and dont get angry on me, just saying so you can do it better the next time)

Hello Everyone, My name is Zeeshan Khalid and i am new and post my problem first time, if i am not clear with my problem or if done something wrong then sorry in advance,
I have bought Z1 in used 2days ago. it was working fine there but when i arrived home it was not shutting down hanged on "shutting down".
Things are happening with my Z1:
i) when i am charing it taking a lot of time to get some juice almost 6 hours and it is 52% only. using iPhone 5s's charge.
ii) when its on it is not showing my IMEI number, ie "null"
iii) it says turning wifi on but wifi is not getting on
iv) getting hot from back top to top 40% area.
v) NFC, Blue tooth sim card not working when it is saying turning on wifi.
it only turned on wifi once after i have put it 24 hours on charging and all the phone worked like a charm and battery stopped on 38% all the night (i was not using that 12 hours) after that i restarted to change my sim card it goes again dead.
can anyone help me out?
Best Regards.

Find out your device model number
See box or pull tray under simcard slot for model number
Flash ftf for that device
Or just take phone to sony's service centre. The device is new so they will replace it free of cost..!! AND also dont bother telling them about flashing and all...

Yes i have used correct FTF.
Sony is not launching mobiles officially in Pakistan, there is no warranty, and service centre for mobiles
It will be stupid idea from me
But stupid ideas may works
You said no warranty
So unlock ur bootloader and try installing cm rom or rr
And see if from software or hardware problem
Note: 1.backup your ta before unlock
2. If your device have LTE then your model is c6903
If not try to find your model in the setting
If the UK version of FTF doesn't work on your Z1 try other one, anyway don't worry try the other version or use the global version 14.6.A.0.270.

U can unlock your bootloader from
Doomlord thread here follow the steps correctly or you could brick your device ....but u must backup your ta if you want to get back your DRM keys
And then download cm12.1 from the official site
here
After download
1. Open flashtool
2.connect your phone in fastboot by press vol. Up after connect
3.copy cm12.1 to ur pc and open zip file and extract boot.img
4. Click on lighting button in flashtool then click fastboot mode
5.under doomlord word you will find select kernel to flash click and select boot.IMG file...
Don't close the window without checking the log that everything is okay
6.open your device in recovery mode by pressing vol. Down
7.wipe factory reset and cache then install update from internal memory the find the cm12.1 zip file and install it
.....
Hit thanks if that help you
did you know if the phone was repaired? like for a broken screen?
when i broke mine, and after fixing it, i experimented really low wifi signal. After a second trip to the technician the problem was fixed. It really has to do with the re-ensemble of the phone.
