Hello guys!
I want to buy this phone but the sound recording quality is importante for me. I´ll record meetings and, sometimes, from about 3 or 4 meters...
Can anyone say if the sound recording quality is good? My question is becuase it is waterproof... maybe it will make the recording quality below average?
Thanks!

It really depends.
I've seen some people say that it was bad (according to their opinion)
But I've also seen that said there was nothing wrong with it.
The Z3C has 3 recording settings (in terms of sound)
Silent, normal, concert (something like that) so I guess you'll have to play around with those to see which fits the occasion best.
Here are 2 random videos I found, And in my opinion the sound isn't bad. Based on my own experience it's not bad either, but I'm not you, you need to judge it by yourself.
I'd say go to a store if possible and just record some stuff. (Please note that the Z3C doesn't come with a build in sound recorder app so you'll need to get one from Play)

My experience so far is based on two scenarios.. Concert and alarm test messages. Both are absolutely great in quality! Using sonys audio recorder to even record stereo audio.

I have not done extensive testing regarding sound, yet, but from what I have done I am impressed with the default sound. It has a wide sound stage, but very clear. However, I have recently purchased Sony's STM10U Stereo Microphone which works on the Z3 devices. There is also Sony's audio recorder app that works with this mic to download.
It really adds a studio type control, blocking out all external sounds, providing a more focused sound. Great for concerts. Comes with a wind cover which is handy for blustery days. This way, I have all my sound options covered.

If you record regularly I'd suggest investing in a decent mini microphone that plugs into the headphone jack. I find the built in mic no better or worse than other phones I've had, but have not done any detailed comparison.
I have found the sound quality absolutely perfect with the Z3C!!!
I play in a band and have always been jealous of how well my friends iPhones have been able to record our band practices. My z3 compact is loads, loads better than my galaxy nexus or HTC hd2 but still not as even good as the iPhone 4 I'm afraid when it comes to recording at very loud volumes.
I'm also using the Sony audio recorder. It works well but the files are massive and can only be saved on internal memory.

Hi,
Been 2 months now i have my TyTn II, looking at XDADev, i was able to answer all the questions i had but ... i still don't understand why when i record videos, sound quality is really low (8khz), and why when i use HTC sound recorder, i can go up to 44khz.
I have looked at all camera options, only found audio on/off, what im missing here?
Thx in advance.
Yes, I noticed that too, I tried to record a small video during in a classroom, and you can't understand what's being said through the video. The person was 15 meters away and speaking out loud.
Maybe there are some registry tweaks that can be changed?

HTC seems to use the same low-quality setting with all its models. It's the best to forget using it as a video camera altogether. Or, if you really need a phone with a decent, high-quality video camera, get the Nokia N95 or the N82.

Can't agree more.. Every device has its +ve's and -ve's and you have to decide what you really want from it.
The day someone comes out with the 'Perfect' unit, all others will be out of business and nobody will be able to sell any new models!!
We could wish it as a New Year's resolution but I don't think it will happen from any company...
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all (and let's hope the New Year will bring us WM 6.1 with good Qualcomm drivers!!)
I was aiming for the Sensation but the price is out of range for me so I figured I'd have to settle for the solution right below it (Nope, not the Desire HD)
Incredible S - A phone with all my needs, a perfect screen size, great camera, great-looking (I'm probably the only one who thinks so lol) .. Even if the bootloader's currently locked i'm not the type who won't use a device unless root, we got WidgetLocker, Go Launcher and other stuff not to mention the original Sense UI is awesome
But one thing i'm concerned about -- the sound quality, I read that GSMArena review and they said it was bad .. I'll basically use the phone I buy as my music player so that matters to me a lot, and earphones sound is more important than speaker sound for me
What's your experiences with the sound quality ? If it's great, i'll head out and buy this phone since it's perfect besides that, if it isn't i'll buy the Desire S which means i'll have to settle for an average camera .. I need positive clarification before I get the S.
I use PowerAmp as my musicplayer, and with the build in equalizer and SRS Enhancement and a good pair of earplugs, i think the sound is just fine.

Thanks, what do you think of the speaker sound, then ?
a good pair of earphones will get u going in no time, as for the loudspeaker, they're quite soft and there'll be static noise n distortion if turned to the max. it's htc, it's normal x
IMO ...use custom earphones and a good sound manager like poweramp...the sound is quite good for a phone.
But yeah the speakers are just average! dont expect too much from them.
but overall u wont regret buying this phone
Ok, thanks guys ! I have my eyes set on it now.
I had an iphone before my IS, and the sound on the IS is a lot better than iphone using Poweramp
The quality of the phone/sound is nice, will try with my stereo nokia bt hedest at home, and chk beck to tell.
Also htc makes awfull earphones, its literally hurt my ears, so one need to change that!
I chose this phone over the S4 based on the advertised higher quality audio capabilities. The speakers do sound great, but does anyone have any pointers on how to maximize the audio recording quality? I see a lot of articles regarding video, but not much for people trying to only record audio. Do some apps work better than others? Phone/mic placement? Do I have to record a video to get the best audio?
The thing is, I was playing (live music) with some friends several months ago, and one of them put their iphone4 on the opposite end of the room and ran the voice memo app. i was amazed at how clear it was compared to my S2. So far im not having the same experience with the HTC One.
Thanks in advance.
I haven't tried much yet but sounds like the video recorder is best for audio recording.

Hey I was driving home from work where I safely put my phone "hands free" and had it record over some loud music. I embarrassingly sang a little bit too, to show the recording capabilities.

Well, that definitely sounds better than when I've tried to use the N4 to record anything loud, but it's hard to tell how that volume compares to what I've tried to do. I'd love it if someone could record the same loud source on both an N4 and N5 to see if the microphone is any better or not.

Oh yeah i forgot i recorded it with my n4 too. Ill upload it in a bit.
I've heard that the front facing speaker is pretty bad from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/red-magic-3/help/red-magic-3-sound-t3936225
I was wondering what other users think, how does it compare to the speakers on the Galaxy S8/9? (I know that the ones on the S10 sound good enough). How loud do the speakers get? What's the DTS apk which was mentioned in the thread I linked? Do you guys think the sound quality can be fixed with root access equalizers like viper4android?
Also is there a reason why the real life reviews forum is empty? I can't seem to find many reviews for this device, so I'd love it if more people would post their impressions!
The sound quality is excellent if you use v4a to tune the speakers. I've suggested it a few times but nobody has done it.
