I'm trying to take advantage of the new Lollipop SmartLock feature and have my Nexus 5 and my Nexus 9 connected via BT to the LG watch so they can both stay unlocked when close to me.
Android Wear is installed on the N5 and everything works (more or less) fine with the phone. But when I try to pair the LG watch with the N9 tablet it keeps saying "Connecting..." and then "Not connected" in an endless loop.
The N9 is able to pair, add the watch as a Trusted Device and SmartLock will work for a while but then stops and I need to repeat the whole pairing process for it to work again.
Anyone tried to use the LG Watch as a Trusted Device on both a phone and tablet at the same time?
Thanks,
---Mirco.

I don't own any of these devices, but If I'm right, by reading the manual that came with the watch to you, you'll find out that you can pair watch only to one device at a time. To pair it to another device, you have to do factory reset for watch.
Some info HERE

Spere, thanks for the info.
Android Wear I understand; it can be paired with only one device <--> watch. But this is just bluetooth.
Otherwise, why would the LG G Watch R have a Settings --> Bluetooth Devices option where you can pair additional devices?

I just don't know. And like I said, I don't have this watch yet, but I'm going to buy it someday near.
I thought the same myself. If I remember right, Google made Android Wear devices able to connect to BT headphones to play music from watch itself. Now, if you can pair only one device to watch, does this mean that to connect to headphones you need to do factory reset and to pair back to phone do it again? This would be total idiotism, who really would do that? And I myself would also like to connect my watch (which I don't own, yet) to my Note 3 and Note Pro 12.2, this just won't seem to be possible right now, what I've read.

You already said it, but here it goes:
You can only pair one device <-> watch, the bluetooth settings on the watch are for bluetooth headphones / speakers, so it looks like this device --> watch --> bt headset and not device 1 --> watch <-- device 2

I have the Nexus 5, 9, and the original G watch, and have the exact same question.
I am using smart lock on my Nexus 5 which is paired to my G Watch through Android Wear. No problem there.
I am able to pair my G Watch to my Nexus 9 by going to Settings > Bluetooth on the watch and pairing with the Nexus 9. Upon pairing, the Nexus 9 displays a notification asking if I would like to add the watch as a trusted devices, just like with the Nexus 5. However, the only problem is that Smart Lock won't work because the watch is not connected to the Nexus 9.
So, in summary, you can pair the watch to Nexus 9, but Smart Lock doesn't work because it's not connected.
The G Watch is able to pair with multiple devices. However, as previously mentioned, it will only connect to devices that has the correct bluetooth services (i.e. speaker). Please correct me if I am wrong.
But it would be nice to be able to use the G Watch as a trusted device for Smart Lock on multiple devices, not just the phone.

Although my car shows my phone connected when I drive, while I am wearing the gear, any calls are routed through the gear.
I know it has to do with probably only one device can output the calls, but is there any way to go around this ?
Is there a quick way to disconnect the gear from the phone while in the car ? it's just that it's a lot of steps to get into the settings....
Was looking for something simpler and quicker.
Although it would be cool not to actually have it disconnected as I still like to see the notifications without pulling out the phone.
Anyone else with this issue ? Any suggestions...?
Only other thing I thought of is to find a software that would put me a toggle on the screen maybe ?
Thanks
No problems here. The phone call well get route through whatever device accepts the call

Same here.
Car has inbuilt blue tooth, if I accept via the car, it routes through the car.
I also have no problems. The interesting thing is, I can initiate a call on the gear, and it stays there for about one second, then transfers to the car speakers. Which is where I want it anyway.
I have the same issue on Tmobile S4 4.2, I believe the 4.3 update has different profiles that allow this. Right now I'm stuck to connecting to the Gear or a Headset, I have to choose between the two since they both connect as 'phone audio' under BT settings. Once 4.3 is release in 2018 (LOL) it should be resolved.
I have a similar problem...or worst
My camaro '12, uses 2 BT profiles. One for media audio and the other for phone audio, since the gear also connects to my GS4 using phone audio, my cámaro's infotainment screen frozes until I disconnect the GG to my GS4 or the cars phone audio to my GS4.
I can't even chance the damn A/C temp or speed when that happens. Hahaha

I have connected my LG G3 to the galaxy gear Samsung gear 1.
Everything is fine except that I cannot use both gear and bluetooth connection in my car, whereas, if I am using my Note 3 there is no problem in connecting both.
Wondering if there is a solution so that I can connect both bluetooth and gear to my 3G in my car
I have the same issues. I have a lg g3, galaxy gear 1, and bt headset. If the gear is connected, calls go to gear and not the headset.
When I had my galaxy s5 all was fine.
Anyone have ideas?

Something else I noticed, it may only happen to others with a lg g3, but if the watch is on and paired, the headphone jack doesn't work.

I don't have a g3 (yet) to test but I think using SQL lite editor and modifying settings.db under the settings app, you can adjust bluetooth priorities. By default priorities are all set to 100. I think if you changed the gear's priority to 99, it may work.

Ok, I'll try to break it down. Hopefully, it works:
1) Get SQLite editor (sounds like you already have it)
2) Scroll down to "Settings Storage" and then select "settings.db"
3) Select global
4) find the entry "bluetooth_headset_priority_<MAC address of Gear>" and select it
5) Click menu > edit record
6) Change the priority from 100 to 99 and save
Hopefully, it helps. Let us know.

Not sure. I would try setting both the gear and your headset to a positive integer and make sure the headset is set higher and see what happens. Not sure if this will work or not but it can't hurt to try.
Try todo rename tour bt headset oer car device the bt device must be on the top and gala y gear under them

I've setup Trigger profiles to do exactly this back when I was on 4.1.2 since multiple devices can't be connected at the same time on that version. From Android 4.3+, multiple BT devices can be connected at the same time and I thought it was at the OS level where the system would use whichever devices answers the call...... I guess it is a function of the Samsung dialer after all.

hi,
Im sure it must be frustrating issue for you. I personally doubt if its just a Note5.. issue ? My reasons are,
I have a old Samsung Gear smart watch and it works 100% with Note5. I also have a Polar M400 hart rate watch with smart notification working 100% with Note5
I had no issues with the pairing of Bluetooth etc.
Long shot but,
Just something to consider....... some devices headsets/ watches still use old Bluetooth version eg Bluetooth v 3.0 and it might cause issues sometimes.? (not always)
I can remember when my Gear watch was still on Bluetooth v 3.0 i had issues connections between my old Note3 ( which was upgraded then to Bluetooth v 4.0 and Gear that was then still on Bluetooth v 3.0) Afterwards my Gear Bluetooth was upgraded to v 4.0 and i had no issues at all.
Bottom line,
If i could pair and use two completely different watches to work with Note5 flawlessly , then I'm sure you have hope?
good luck

hi,
firstly, you must not assume it's like "it"
you must be sure of your facts.
Have you looked at your specs of your watch or Google specs to see what Bluetooth version it has. I found that it ( different Bluetooth versions eg 3.0 and v 4.0/4.1 did cause issues for me )
Who knows your watch might be / should be, v 4.0 /4.1 and not v 3.0..?
I only listed a possibility, that it could be and what i experience.
If it so...(it's v 3.0)
well then my logic says that its not Note5 fault but old firmware on watch and something that you just can't fix " just like that"
If its not so and watch is v 4.0 /4.1,
we'll then surely it should work, as i gave
2 x examples above.
good luck

Just in case I have to ask this but did you factory reset the watch yet? The only way to connect your smart watch that was previously synced to another phone is to factory reset it and then sync it with the new phone.
I have reset the watch. I'll try again. Thank you. While I'm at it I'll get the versions of everything

hi ,
i have thought about your issue .
This is what i would try ( trouble shoot )
Firstly ,yes unpair devices and factory reset watch ..good idea
also reboot device (phone ) after unpairing(..just in case .)
then connect and try to pair and see if working correctly ?
If not and issue is the same as before ,i would make sure about watch Bluetooth version .?
If watch is v 3.0 ( Note5 should be v 4.1 ? ) then it seems like this is the likely cause ?
If not and watch is either v 4. 0 or v 4.1 it should pair and pairing should be listed in phone Bluetooth list and "stick".
I can remember with my Gear watch ,when it was on v 3.0 , it would not show up or stick in Bluetooth list of paired devices .As soon as i went to v 4.0 on watch ,only then it show up and stuck in list
If all fails, well i would try to look for other solutions ..search or is there not a forum/setcion here on XDA( for watch) and check that for clues ?
good luck
Reset everything. Factory reset watch. Nothing. Factory reset phone nothing. Factory reset watch again. Paired fine.
Thanks for the help.
So I recently just got my Gear updated to 6.0.1. I had a hell of a time doing it too. The watch came shipped with a developer rom attached. Had to reboot many times to get it working using the Watch Tool. Then updates. Oh lord the updates.
Anyways, I get it to the latest firmware, and now, my phone and watch don't seem to be communicating correctly. There's no cloud or anything to give the idea that it's disconnected, but I can't do searches, can't sync my music or get my watch to connect via wifi since it has to use the phone to do so. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?
EDIT: The phone and watch are paired. Forgot to mention that. Going into the phone's bluetooth settings, I can easily see the watch paired to it. I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S3.
After getting 6.0.1 you want to forget the watch from the gear app. This will reset everything and start pairing again. Should fix the problem

Hi, is there a chance to use two phones at the same time? Every day I use the iPhone, but I would like to be able to use Google Maps on the Discovery Pro screen in a VW Passat. Is it possible to connect an Android phone with Android Auto, which will display Google maps to me, at the same time be connected via bluetooth from the iPhone to be able to call from it? I am currently using MirrorLink, but this service works very poorly and slowly. Apple CarPlay is not an option, their maps are miserable. Thanks for help.
Ok, no one wrote back, but I found a solution.
I have Xperia Z5 Compact, on which I made root.
I have permanently turned off the Bluetooth sharing service. After installing Android Auto, I went through all the configuration steps. The service started working on the car screen without disconnecting the connected iPhone X via bluetooth.
The sound and picture are sent via a usb cable. When someone calls the music pauses, and when the conversation ends it plays again. It is a perfect combination if CarPlay is not enough, and we don't want to stop using the iPhone.
Thx for the interesting post and especially to come back with a solution. A real strange thing that people actually do follow ups.
I am also interested in this. Having multiple phones I would leave 1 in the car just for Android Auto and the other one just as a phone. If Android wireless was active the use for me would be a bit less needy.
What some people forget is that your phone barely charges if you use Android Auto and that would make it better for me to really charge my other phone while driving. During Android Auto and connected to the USB of the car the phone is in data mode and will probably only output like 400 to 500mA . This is barely enough to keep the charge.
The S7 that I have goes to about 1.9 Amp(so 1900mA) when charging on a non QC charger so after lets say an hours drive it gets more than enough juice to keep you going.

The steps I have described have helped in the operation of AA, so that the car does not disconnect my Bluetooth-connected iPhone. When I used MirrorLink, my iphone was not disconnected and I could use both phones without any modifications.
In my case, I turned off bluetooth first and then I installed and configured Android Auto with my car. As a result, the iPhone was not disconnected which made me happy. I would also like to add that the procedure was performed on the Discover Pro radio in the Passat B8 with the App-Connect service.

I did try almost every configurations ... I erased previous telephone settings in head unit to start with a clean install. BT has been disabled on tablet (the one dedicated to AA). As soon as the tablet is connected through USB, the phone is deconnected from head unit, and the reason given is that BT is already engaged by another unit (the tablet 0-o). I did a hard reset of the tablet. No joy either... I don't know what to do next. I should stress the fact that AA is installed from APK, as the tablet is not eligible for having AA.

In Volkswagen cars, Android Auto connects via USB, however the phone connection is connected via bluetooth. Maybe your car is configured differently with AA. I also downloaded AA from the apk file.
Can your car simultaneously handle two phones connected by bluetooth? It is possible in the Passat. Maybe there is a problem here.

That needs to be checked for sure, but I still cannot understand why, with BT completely removed from tablet, Head unit still maintains a kind-of BT link with it, thus disconnecting the phone ... It appears like once AA is running on tablet, all other BT connections are killed.

Hi Pixege,
I have the exact same setup (Sony Xperia Z5 ROOTED + iPhone + VW Discover Pro on new Tiguan) and followed your instructions here but no luck.
Here's what I've done.
1. Made sure there is no pre-existing bluetooth pairing between Xperia and Discover Pro) - I reset the Discover Pro just to be sure
2. Paired iPhone with Discover Pro (this is the phone I want to keep connected via bluetooth for calls, etc.)
2. Permanently disable bluetooth sharing on Xperia using Root + App
3. Installed Android Auto on Xperia and connected device to Discover Pro - AA now works fine
This still caused the iPhone to be disconnected from bluetooth... when connected via AA, no other connection is allowed.
Did you do anything different from the steps above as it didn't work for me.
Thanks for helping out.

I was able to root my LG V35 and turn off all BT using Link2SD. Now my old V35 is plugged into my car's USB in the center console and my new S20+ connects to the car on BT for calls. It took a lot of effort, but thanks to all the tips posted here, I was able to make it happen. Rooting the V35 was the hard part. Getting the boat loader to unlock took a lot and I bricked the phone twice trying. But rooting after that was somewhat easy, though frankly, I'm not sure how I did it exactly. I was able to unlock the boot loader using the instructions here, step 1 and 2. Though somehow, I bricked the phone (for a 2nd time) trying to get through step 3. I was able to get it to go into fastboot mode and I flashed the boot with an img that was labeled twrp and magist 7.5. I wish I could remember where I got that image from, but after that, magist was installed on the phone and a few clicks later, suddenly it was rooted. Then disabling BT with Link2SD only took a minute.
GREAT post - THANK YOU!!
I have a Note 20 Ultra and a 2020 Tiguan SE, and my 2 issues are (were):
1. I hated connecting and disconnecting the phone to cable for every damn time you enter the car.
2. Since I am spending a lot of time in the car, not necessary driving - I wanted more. Especially Video.
Knowing that AA uses BT and automatically pairing every devices it connected, I though to go to iOS, and get a cheap Iphone to run Carplay, while my Note will stay on BT.
The idea of disabling BT from system after root never crossed my mind. So once seeing that post, I ordered from Amazon a Pixel XL, rooted it and removed all the un-necessary crap out of it, disabled all APKs and services using BT - and it works like a charm.
I have my Note in and out from the car with me, working on BT, and the rooted Pixel juts sits in the car connected with the wire.
Thank you!

Have the same problem. Disabling Bluetooth does not help.
Do you have a detailed guide?

Hi,
Not anything in particle, where are you stuck?
I just used any of "app disabler" app from Google Play and freeze every service you find for BT.
Other then that, once in car, make sure your phone is up and running the BT connection, before you plug the secondary device into the wired AA connection.
Good Luck.

Hi,
That's what I did.
I don't know why it doesn't work for me.
Have tried them all before.
New ROM, Call function disabled, Android Auto function disabled.
I don't know...
Maybe it's because of the VW firmware?

I have a 2020 VW Tiguan SE (USA) if it helps.
Rooted with Magisk
I used "link2sd" and "servicedisabler" apps to do it, but their are plenty others out there who will do the same.
The 2 BT services I disabled in the Pixel XL which is connected now to AA by wire are:
com.androind.bluetooth
com.androind.bluetoothmidiservice
And once again, be sure to be paired and connected with your phone ti BT, before connecting the other device to the wired AA.
