Does anyone notice a very light clicking noise from back speaker when on speaker phone right after hanging up on a call?
Just the NSA, disregard.
Lol,thought it might have something to do with radio/network stuff or like u said nsa..smh
I notice it makes the clicking noise anytime the back speaker gets used at all, there's a light hiss then click, guess kinda like an amp would sound when being turned off.
No one else here it?

Yes, I hear it. This has been audible on every phone i've had in recent memory, you probably just never listened for it before. Anytime sound is routed through the speaker you get the hissing, followed by the click as the amp shuts off 2 or 3 seconds later. Sometimes it's audible through headphones also, depending on the headphones.
Lol yeah only noticed, because when on call using speakerphone it clicks 2 or 3 times and it's just a tad louder then when turning off any other time, other wise probably would never heard it.
I have a N910F and noticed it this morning. I here it, it's like a frying noise, and if you get close enough you here it every time a sound is routed throughout the speaker on or off.
I'm on Lollipop 5.0.1 Baseband version N910FXXU1BOC3.
I don't think it's normal, Samsung is playing around with the audio system, you couldn't turn off sound completely until this ver of lollipop and still even when audio is completely off you can here the speaker fry when something is routed to it.

Hey guys, I've noticed a weird bug with stock 4.2.1 on my Nexus 4, and was wondering if anyone is experiencing the same thing. If not, then perhaps it is the hardware and not the software, but the nature of this bug has lead me to believe it is software-related.
Let me first say, right off the bat, that I have had no other issues with my phone, and that when I play games or watch movies, the volume is loud, clear, crisp--just all around excellent. However, when I use the speakerphone on a call, it seems to be... quieter than everything else. So I tried playing around with it, and discovered something interesting.
The next time you're in a call, put it on speakerphone. Note how loud it sounds to you. Then, turn the volume down one notch, and then put it back up to the max volume again (I've only experimented with it being at max already, then turning it down one notch, and then back up).
Does it sound WAY louder? And does it sound distorted, almost overblown? Why would it be like that during a call, and why would adjusting the volume down and then back up again have such a result if it was NOT software related? And, furthermore, why would it be blown out and distorted here where as for everything else it sounds superb?
Let me know your thoughts--maybe I need to RMA? I got this one at T-Mobile (I didn't have to pay the equipment installment due to my current plan, so it was cheaper to buy it @ $200 from them).
Thanks!
Same Here .. I believed it was the only with this problem since no one had said.
I think is Software Issue.
Yeah I noticed that no one had mentioned this, but I believe if it's software then it must be affecting everyone. At least, it should be affecting stock users. I guess I noticed this sooner because I use speaker phone when I'm driving in the car, since my ragtag bluetooth receiver that outputs through a tape that's plugged into it and inserted into the tape deck only transmits music and notifications, not calls--for some reason--over the car speakers. Just got sick of plugging into the phones headphone jack every time I got in and out of the car! lol

See but mine doesn't crackle or do any of that stuff during calls or anything else. And it's not blown out sounding during anything other than calls where I have lowered the volume and then put it back up to max right after. I don't think the problem is the same as it is here, it just seems similar, for sure.
Also, when not on speaker phone, the in call volume is perfect and without issue. It's limited to specifically what I mentioned in the original post.
Thanks for the reply, but I'm talking about it being overtly loud and only being so when adjusting the volume down and back up to max, and that prior to that, the volume is just a bit on the quiet side at the maximum. Not crackling/popping/etc!
cool..sorry about that.
Exact same situation with me.little buzz while on call nothing else.

No problem! Appreciate the attempted help =]
Hello,
I bought my One on Tuesday and it's been great so far, but today I've noticed that playing it on the top 3 volume levels causes the sound to kind of fluctuate, as in, some parts of the song play louder than other parts.
This is less prevalent with beats audio turned off, however I believe I can still slightly hear it.
It's most noticeable when I plug it into my car's aux port and turn the volume on the phone up to its max.
Has anyone else had this problem? is it a software issue? or will I have to take this phone back?
Thanks
the phone have 2 speaker one in top on in bottom.
2.1 speaker working in phone perhaps the song getting change between to speakers and you think that happened.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, the problem only happens with headphones plugged in
I just recently bought a Nexus 6, and not to long after I bought it my phones volume started to get very low. When I was on a phone call and switched to speaker, the phone starts the audio off as low, but then gets higher after a few seconds. Now when I listen to music or watch netflix, the audik starts off high at full volume, but then goes very low as if the phone had a Automatic Leveler. Is there anyone way to fix this ?

you are on stock? i didnt experience it on stock, but did on aosp. on aosp its a bug, that was fixed by a few developers.
Im pretty shocked by the nexus 6 speakers.
1. Speaker phone only works on the top speaker.
2. Anything from the lowest volume till about 2/3rds is nicley scaled then it just jumps in loudness in the last 3 to 4 clicks.
3. The stock sound is shocking bad ! Sounds like they forgot to balance bass and treble.
4. My headphone jace only seems to work with some jacks, an aux lead refuses to work in all 3 of my work vans and my old HTC headsets but works with iphone headsets and some of my aony headsets ( these all worked in my N5 )
5. Where the freekin' EQ ! Really google cant make a EQ letalone a good camera app !!!!
I am on stock. No root, no unlocked bootloader.
The funny thing is, when in place my hand over the front camera lens, and curved around the front, the volume goes back up as if there was a auto level function. If I take my hand off of that speaker, it goes back down because I am in a quite room. Something's not right with that..
I'm not rooted and I have similar issues. When I get phone calls or texts the volume starts out really low then gets high and I can't stand it. Seems to have just started doing this. Same thing when I'm talking to someone, I get a call, I answer it and I can barely hear them then 1 or 2 seconds later it's fine. Driving me crazy. Would love to get this fixed.
I've had my phone replaced 4 times now, each had a problem. I'm on my 5th Nexus 6 and this one has speaker crackle in the top speaker. I noticed it when I had a Facebook notification, but I haven't heard it since, so obviously. I can only hear it when I play some sort of sound, and afterwards, once the particular sound has finished playing, I hold it right against my ear, and it's sort of like white noise with like crackles and pops in. I can't hear it when it's away from my ear and it doesn't seem to affect call quality.
I've noticed the bottom speaker outputs normal white noise once audio has finished playing, but again, only when holding it up to my ear.
I've read a lot of people have had this, but their replacements seem to do the same thing. Is this worth a replacement (in my case a refund, I don't want a sixth phone) or is it just one of those things that won't really affect the phone?
Move doesn't appear to get any worse when the battery is lower either. It's constant when Google Music is open, when a song is on pause, but I only know this because I held it right against my ear.
Surely, if it was a defective speaker, the speaker wouldn't sound as good as it does playing audio?
Anybody else's so this?

Hello,
I have the same problem. It's a low frequency noise... after each sound, but only if you hold it to your ear.
Let me tell you that, that does not affects the overall product. I have deal with lots of FACTORY BUGS (like Sensation 4G BT antenna) and so on, but this 1 sec low frequency does not affect as much.
For me is only more noticeable when on low battery.
Hope this helps!:good:
I think it's more of a software issue, are you completely stock? I flash a lot of Roms. There are some I get the crackle noise some that I don't. I also use lean kernel which has updated audio and display drivers... No crackle or pops for me in quite a long time
Is it definitely a software problem? I read online about people saying its hardware, but if it is software I'll keep it. If not I'll have to send it back Monday... would a factory reset do anything?
And yes, completely stock.
And same, mine is worse when on low battery. If I play a game with sound off, there's this constant buzz coming from the top speaker.
How is everyones speakers holding up? I dont always get a distortion at max volume but there are specific tones where I can hear them. The one specific example I can think of is the default alarm tone (I think its oxygen). Anyone else have a similar experience? Or is the phone supposed to be distortion free for all tones at max volume?
Thanks!
I sometimes get crackling/distortion from the top speaker but I noticed a new issue with mine last night.
I had my handset on silent and pulled down to my quick settings/tiles I switched WiFi on and held the device close to my ear, I could hear a few seconds of a 'buzzing clicking' noise then it stopped, I turned the WiFi off and the same thing again.
It happens on both the top and lower speaker and makes this noise whenever I turn on or off the wiFi or Mobile Data. It also doesn't matter if it's on silent or active notifications.
Is it just the radio being activated/turned off?
Does it happen to anyone else?
l also got my first random shutdown last night too.

The speaker issue is not actually a hardware issue It's actually a bug. Some people get panicked and apply for a replacement but there is a high chance to face the same issue on the replaced device too. But on some device it's a hardware issue which can be evident in ANY volume not in the specifically the HIGHEST volume
How can distortion be a software issue though?

The sound issue can easily be a software issue, it does not necessarily have to be distortion coming from the speaker. That word is being thrown around too easily. But the OS could be sending bad code to the speaker, which comes out sounding like distortion. With the vast amount of people claiming to have this, I am more inclined to think it is more of a software bug.
PS - How is this a "mega" thread'? Just because the OP wants it to sound like an 80's hair metal concert title?
