Hi, I have rooted Blu Dash 4.5 with a custom rom that uses the sd card as internal memory.I have a 16 gb card installed and it works great. I was wondering if anyone has written a custom rom for the Moto G 2nd gen that has this option. And if so what is it called?
Greetings;
I use an OTG most of the time since in Canada the only storage option is 16Gb.
My device XT1097 is unlocked & rooted on stock Rom.
Lately the sd card is spitting out "Gibrish" files that are named in strange alphabets/codes!
And they quickly fill up the 32Gb sd card in the OTG. I have tried to format with different
applications and on the device "erase" function as well to no avail! As soon as I try to copy
anything to the card, the Garbage files take over!!
Any info/help is much appreciated.
I have been thinking of installing the Marshmallow update but I've been very hesitant to do so because all the problems people are having. I want to ask how to deal with the micro SD card issue. If I adopt it as internal memory, how do I get media files loaded on it as it is encrypted and can't be seen by any other device. (i.e your computer?). If I adopt it as regular external memory like with lollipop, how does the internal memory cope with not being able to move apps to the external SD card?. Thanks!!

Much people are confused about the SD card adoption on Marshmallow. When you adopt the card as internal memory on Moto G 2014 (I own LTE EU version, but it's the same on all Gs) ALL THE FILES ON IT get erased, so backup it all. You can load it from the computer after the process, because yes, the sd it's encrypted but if you connect it to the pc (directly) you can trasfer files like on all previous version of android. If you adopt as external memory nothing will change from the common use of SD in lollipop and previous.
Sorry for the poor english

Thank you!! What do you mean connect the SD directly to the PC? Not when it's in the phone? I have an SD adapter on my laptop can the computer read the SD card using the SD adapter?

. Great! Thanks for your help. Do you have Marshmallow on your phone? Have you had any problems with it?
I have Android 6. I've never had problems with the OTA update to marshmallow, and my Moto G was previously rooted so it have unlocked bootloader. Rather Android 6.0 improved the connection with my wearable Moto 360 1st gen. Anyway if you think to adopt the SD as internal storage be sure to take an High class SD card (Something like Samsung evo/evo+ or better pro/pro+) because if it brokes, you will be in serious troubles and data loose

. Thanks again for your feedback. I am using aSanDisk Ultra HC 1, 32 gig MicroSD card. Is that going to be OK to adopt as internal memory?
Hi. I'm wondering how the heck do you move applications to the SD card on the Moto X4 (android one) on android 8.1? Not a single app I install (Pokemon GO, Discord) have the "change" button under apps and notifications->(app name)->storage... I'm honestly stumped. I can't format the sd as internal either...
Thanks.
The Moto X4 uses FBE (file based encryption) so you can not run applications off the SD. The SD can only be used for media storage.
I just finished rooting my LG G6 but I'm now looking for a solution to the 32GB storage problem. I'd like to use my SD card as Adoptable Storage but while trying it before rooting it always presented problems and I ended up back to external storage.
Is there a current solution to this problem? I couldn't find anything while searching.
