OK I have the note 3 N900A, I have it rooted and twrp on it, what roms am I able to use? I have tried a few not 3 roms that are not specifically for the N900A but for different version and they boot up but just goes to a black screen.. The lights and sounds work but not the screen. So do I have to use N900A roms only or is there a certain way to get the other roms working?..

1. The 900A At&t Note 3 has its own threads for a reason.
2. Take a moment to research before doing something foolish. You'll end up with a very expensive brick. ..

The specific forum for the att note 3 in the devopment section. Any ROM in there will work for your phone. HOWEVER- please do some reading first related to what version and build number you are running. The precautions taken by Samsung and att to lock the phone down require specific steps to be taken based on what stock ROM you currently are using. All the info you need is in the att note 3 forum somewhere. Happy reading.

@J0386, it really depends on what you are looking for with a custom ROM. I am assuming by TWRP you mean safestrap.
I have tried several ROMs, including Dynamic, Dynamic Xtreme, FireKat and FireRom. I prefer a stock ROM, as close to AOSP as possible, with little to no bloatware. As such, I landed on Dynamic Kat Xtreme, which unfortunately is no longer supported. Dynamic Kat is a great ROM with fantastic customization, and FireKat is about as strong a ROM as you can get for an optimized experience, but it is heavy on the app side. So, what kind of ROM are you looking for?
I have been trying a few aokp roms but neither of the ones I tried would boot, they flashed fine but when they loaded the screen wouldn't Come on but then lights and sounds worked..

Did you flash to the stock slot or to one of the others? Most of these only work when you flash to the stock slot. Also, some take several minutes to boot. I'm currently running Dynamic Kat Xtreme 1.0 with a few modifications and loving it!

Hi All,
In terms of which version of the NOTE 3 to buy, should i get the ATT one? in terms of development to the device.
I see that the android development forum is currently empty, are roms of other version (not ATT specific) are compatible with it?
thanks.

The AT&T note 3 currently has a locked bootloader. No flashing roms until someone finds a way to unlock the phone. People who seem to need to flash roms are buying the t-mobile one (which has an unlocked bootloader) and bringing it over to AT&T.
I have a rooted and flashed Att Note 3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474422

This.
Root on the stock ROM is great, it allows you install must have apps like Greenify, DroidWall, AdAway, Root Explorer, and Wannum Xposed Framework. Plus is stable, being based off the official stock OS.
That's all you really need, and allows tons of control over the phone, without an actual ROM or need for unlocked bootloader.

You can't flash ROMS on the ATT Note 3 yet. There is safe strap that is still in Alpha testing and is not yet 100% working. It however is not a true root and eats up a large amount of internal memory where the image file of the ROM is stored. There is a thread on Safestrap and how it works. Use it at your own risk. Outside of that it is IMPOSSIBLE to flash an ATT Note 3 right now..

The issue is that even with safe strap you can't flash any ROM. The ROM first has to be tailored to work with and around safe strap since it is not truly a ROM but a bootloader bypass and works a little differently. So until developers either jump on board and tweak ROMS to work with safestrap or they wait till the bootloader is unlocked, there are no ROMS right now to flash..

I said you could not flash them reliably and have them 100% functional. There is still testing being conducted on all the ROMS claimed to work and no one has confirmed 100% functionality with all apps and hardware. So they are still not certified reliable like a real flash would be..
If you have tested the three you have used 100% on both hardware and apps then you need to get in there and say so because they are looking for 100% proof of function confirmation..
Not going to argue semantics with you.
I will say that I have flashed to rom slots 1 thru 4 and the stock slot and restored backups to them all with no issues. And am currently running the ported xnote7 with no issues at all. So yes, roms can be installed to AT&T Note3 phones.

Have you been actively participating in the development of this phone? I've been doing this for years and I'll be honest. 99% of custom rooms do not run 100% perfect or functional. That being said, instead of telling everyone we can't flash ROMS. Why not tell them what we do have and let him decide if it is what He is looking for.

I am just going by all the "this does not work, or this fails, or my apps no longer load" and the list goes one of post in the SS thread right now.. For some it maybe stable but it seems the majority is having more problems then they had with stock.

I cannot and will not be held responsible for anything that may happen due to you following this guide. You are directly
responsible for anything that you instruct your device to do. By following this guide, you accept full and complete
responsibility for whatever the outcome is.
After much trial and error, this guide should help those of you stuck on stock ML2 get to running ROMs through SafeStrap 3.71
Before anything, a thanks goes to spegelius and Devo7v for helping with the much needed files. Without them, I would not
have gotten this far.
Requirements:
* You need to be on 4.3 ML2 as your stock firmware
* You need to be rooted. If you are not, read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2690133
* You will need to have SafeStrap 3.71 installed. Check here: http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/jflteatt-active/safestrap
**Verify that you are using the SHG-i537 BEFORE installing anything**
Once you have that done, boot into recovery and create a new ROM slot.
It will take a few minutes for the slot to create and setup.
Once it has setup, grab your favorite TW ROM and flash 'er to the slot. (I used HyperDrive)
Now, flash the ML2 modules, followed by the MF5 camera prop archive.
Now flash the GPIO keys archive.
Clear the dalvik and cache, and reboot.
This should give you hardware keys, wifi, bluetooth, NFC, and Camera.
I know this is not the most comprehensive guide out there, but it should be enough to get you up and running.
is necessary to flash the compatibility pack on hyperdroid ? , is the stock camera working with any rom?
thanks for the guide im new here and i was a little bit lost with the rom flashing

Quick question. Since drake got banned and I can't ask questions on the thread I have 2 questions. 1. Is there a fix for nfc/sbeam and auto rotation and 2. Is there anybody skilled enough to port Bobcats Rom (with his blessings of course). It would be much appreciated if this rom got its long overdue update.

I know drake was the man at porting roms from the International note 3 but it seems he has abandoned all of his ports and none are up to date. Is there anyone willing to port some of the great roms out there? It seems like our choices of roms are limited. I would love to see the new X-Note and BobCat roms as well as a few more. <br />

Although I know this is possible I had a VERY bad experience trying to flash other varient roms on my previous att note 2 and I jacked it up (and I'm def not a noob at flashing). In the end I couldnt even make phone calls because I think with all that flashing of modems and baseband it corrupted the radio and even stock odin flashing could not fix it. It took me 4 months before I gave up and sold it and I just got this one a few months ago. I dont plan going through that nightmare again lol. Only official ports or roms that are specifically for the sm-n900a for me buddy but thanks for the reference.

You need to do some searching and reading to understand how SafeStrap works and what ROMs are compatible with it. You can use any of the regular S4 ROMs (ATT or Verizon) that are compatible with your kernel, that's why you don't see any ROMs for the i537 in the development section. Luckily this phone is very flexible when it comes to ROMs so you actually have a bunch of choices depending on your kernel.

Any 4.4.2 TouchWiz-based ROM. They're all slightly different, so you're just going to have to test them out and figure out which one you like best.

I'm on my phone so I can't link to the forums, but just go to the ATT or Verizon S4 development forum and start looking for TouchWiz-based ROMs.
