I tried finding a way to Contact Mokee Developers in Hopes to Speak to Someone about Building a custom Rom for our Galaxy Tab S. However was unable to find the Way to reach out to them, I am NOT a Developer, but am a ALL Around Samsung Enthusiast. So this is why Im posting this thread hoping there are others Like myself that Love the Mokee Custom Roms ( A HUGE Shout out to the ENTIRE Mokee TEAM), and that also Prefer how Google Edition Runs on our Tablets instead of Touch Wiz, I am Hoping this Post reaches the EYES or the right person that CAN make this Happen, Bless to ALL....
Yes would be great to see more devs working on the Tab S 10.5 & 8.4 as they are great hign end tablet devices.

after 1 year hanging out with teamhacksung irc I have learned alot about samsung the developers of cyanogenmod and teamhacksung has done a great job to do everything they can to bring AOSP Experience
I gotten my phone ( Samsung Galaxy S2 International Version I9100) and back then I dont even know how android works I went for the phone cause of how people booster it was the best phone and beating iPhone 4 which I previously own after months of research and chit-chatting with codeworkx I have learned alot and understand today why he dump samsung exynos support
those who know this will understand that there are bugs in Cyanogenmod 7 for samsung devices which can never be fixed and people blame the community for that and not doing their job
the only reason why it is like this it cause of undocumented stuff and closed drivers sources which are not even out and we until today have never really felt the power of project butter/ics true experiences on our devices
I have waited long enough and suffered so much from samsung Im sorry samsung you guys have lost my respect.
those who are complaining about why this phone does not support LTE get a Optimus G , I don't really know about AOSP Support on Optimus G since LG Controls it how they update or release the source or drivers are closed source atleast it is not Exynos and Mali :good:
so what is nexus about then ?
nexus is more for people who are interested in android development and more on android since it is control by google software and LG Hardware it is a two way thing
and google is still supporting Galaxy Nexus and it is good phone
anyway yes Im getting a Nexus 4 and those who has Galaxy Nexus think carefully about switching as google is not like samsung who release tons of devices and forgets about old one
cheers
p.s mod I dont really know where to post this but if you could move it and dont close this thread as I feel that it is a understanding on educating some people on how android and google works.
thanks

Hello
I'm reading a lot of comment about people never buying a SAMSUNG phone again on this forum.
I believe it has something to do with CM team ( who are these guys? ) and the CPU type and source code.
Could you please care to elaborate? As I am planning on upgrading to GN2 but ofc I need root access and the latest OS all the time
Thank you.
Which post are you refering to? I just seem to see post saying how awesome the Note 2eand SIII are!

It's not just 1 post,
All around the forum , especially in the GN forum ( where I spend most of my time ) I see people complaining about Samsung devices in the future and how they will never buy another samsung again ...
I guess it all depends whether or not you want to run CM custom roms on your device.
Furthermore Samsung promised to release the Exynos sources...So we'll just wait and see
Problem ist that the source code is no available and without no new CM AOSP AOKP Roms possible. The company said in the past that they will release the code, but till today they don't.
Other companies like Sony did it better and supports the community. That's also a reason why great Dev won't work for our Note...
It's not impossible to bring new roms without sourcecode - we still have CM10 and will get CM10.1 - but the experience is not the best, and devs have to put A LOT of work to even make it work.
Samsung promised they will release their sources - yet untill today - they didn't. So it's simple as that, if they release sources - devs might finally fix some bugs and push CM10 into stable. Without sources we might never go out of nigthlies because some bugs might never get fixed.
As for SONY, yes they release all their sources, but remember that they used to be like Samsung untill their market share shrinked, so now they're most likely just trying to appeal to customers with that. Hope they won't change their mind about it when/if their sales go high again ( I'm looking at you Xperia Yuga )

Very true, but I think they don't give a ....about a few devs and users being frustrated when they sell millions of devices...Like most of the big selling companys

Samsung didnt want the devs to work for the android community because in the end it gives an advantage to google and its os. Samsung wants people to buy its phones because of their new features added in their TW that are not available on true android. They in the future wants their devices ti be free from the android pool. Because of the tiring update process. No source code release is just what keeps dev from moding their devices so they can market their new phones and limit those features in the old models. I dont think they will care about dev going to other vendors. Because once they got hold of a new indigenous OS. they will market its dev kits and hardware for developers and they know how to bring them back.

First I 'm sorry for this my English!
We know that the Galaxy SII is one of the most popular gadgets that have , and even receive several Customs Roms , even the hardware the same as not being friendly with the developer apparently , but the success and quality of ROMs is incredible .
Because of this , came through this post , ask for them to give attention to the 7-inch Tablet from Samsung , especially the Plus series, which has a great hardware , even for the times , briefly have the same CPU and GPU Galaxy SII .
Because of this , I may be wrong , but I believe the quality of this team of developers, who could reuse much of the code of the Galaxy SII adapting to these devices .
We do have some Customs unofficial ROMs , but none of them reached the level of being fully functional ( Wifi , 3G , Mass Storage , FC , etc. ) , some things always have problems that hinder normal use . Have stayed up jealous of other devices that receive Roms officers enjoy an amazing quality even in Beta ( Nightly ) state until I was already regretting having bought my appliance, although it helps me a lot with my studies , and I hope to finish programming languages and start working with Android and also help others .
So I fortifico my application to work with these Tablets 7 " which is still an Android 4.4.2 Kitkat would run smoothly , and I guarantee that has a mass of users that would be happy to enjoy a lightweight , functional , beautiful ROM , . everything the Kitkat has to offer will be even great, please affix these devices : Galaxy Tab Plus 7 " and 7.7 " ( P6200 , P6210 , P6800 and O6810 ) .
Someone who is working with one of those devices and has it working needs to submit it.
First thanks for your feedback Entropy512
Take this opportunity to thank the members of OmniROM because I'm using my Galaxy SII I9100 and me is the best ROM I've ever used , extremely high quality . This OmniROM gaining more fans here among my friends who have devices supported by Team Omni .
Thankfully we have some developers who have struggled and strive to bring Custom Rom for this great device , some as Aorth , Locerra , and now Daniel ( in which is trying to bring to our unit as OmniROM link:
Tab Plus P62XX
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565632
Tab Plus 7.7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535734
Here follows a video I found on Youtube , showing the ROM running:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itIFtJSptvY
But there is much difficulty in the development of the ROM , with many bugs : Wifi , 3G , Bluetooth , Mass Storage, CF, etc. .
The OmniROM this gained increasing recognition and twist hard for you , it really would be a very good gift to have a ROM Omni these Tablets 7 " almost a dream , since these devices are somewhat forgotten that the development community , a shame because today still have great hardware . worse than not having official support updated by the manufacturer ( Samsung ) is not having a backup of Custom Roms , especially those of such quality .
What is needed to start this procedure to have official support of Team OmniROM ? I can talk to Daniel and see what he can do, hopefully looking forward to this ROM (Das better now ) and uses them in Plus Tablet 7 " . Fondly Look for this request please .
There is information about the difficulties that Daniel is having to develop, if relevant would like to take a look, because we need help to keep these alive Tablets:

Thank you very much !...
I coordinated routinely with aorth and locerra in the past.
The problem is that, for various reasons, these devices are a nightmare. Among other reasons were the closed-source ath6k wifi driver, which set back locerra and aorth for months. They also seem to be rife with other oddities that prevented them from using common device trees/kernels with the rest of the 4210 devices for a long time. (As opposed to the N80xx family which are pretty much I9300s with huge screens. )
I was considering purchasing one of these when it first came out until I heard about the whole ath6k source code mess - that turned off a LOT people and caused them to avoid the device.
From what I've seen is really hard to work with these devices , all that work has many difficulties to work Bluetooth and Wifi .
Entropy512 , think possible terms of official support OmniROM ? I am very hopeful about it as they are a team ( in large part), with talented developers ! ( I hope to be a so ^ ^ ) ;
Or also , any help, Daniel organized everything he needs to do the work in Kitkat Android tablet , the biggest problems continues with Bluetooth and Wifi , I think talves an adaptation of the i9100 can help in this matter , I can be wrong up .
Take a look and analyze for gentilza can help the struggling Daniel this well :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593657
I very disappointed with the Samsung Exynos CPUs , as a lover of Custom Rom , it harms other developers , never picked up a device using these CPU , but I'm still very interested in taking a N80XX , is a marvel to study , not only found good for train schedule, still seems strange.
Please give me some hope for the P62XX and P68XX nor the Kitkat is the last update , but being with an Omni it will be great.
It has hope of official support if someone does the bringup and submits it for inclusion.
No maintainer = no official support. In terms of device maintainers, our team is spread too thin as a whole already, so new devices really need to come from new people. And no one is going to go purchase an outdated device that's notorious for being a nightmare to work with.
Thanks Entropy512!
I'll take this question for Daniel, because he really needs help, it is much him alone. If you can resolve issues Bluetooth and Wifi Driver is already a breakthrough.

I would settle for a custom recovery...
This is a typical scenerio with the Camera 2 now out and the K Zoom. As soon as upgraded models and especially completely new models are released development usually comes to a screeching halt on the previous models. These are not wildly popular devices, so it's not too surprising that there was never much development to begin with. The same development fizzle happened with my Note 2 phone, and lack of popularity was a big problem with my Note 10.1 2014 edition tablet.

Do you think for the sake of this device you could pull someone to get a ROM made?
Didn't I read somewhere on XDA that Philz and Clockwork Mod are no longer producing custom recoveries? Or was that device specific? I thought I read that TWRP is the only name in the recovery game currently.
So this is a post for just making people realise some of the things going on in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A development forum (specifically the custom Rom development). So let's get right into the thing. I believe custom Rom should be focusing on bringing newness to old devices. Of course and some features are not available in New devices, and custom Rom and debloated roms help fill the gap ( we all know how heavily modded Samsung firmware is).
However recently there is a trend for DEVELOPERS to make custom roms for recently released devices ( SM-T580, SM-T280) . While the old 2015 models and others have no roms yet. I did hear that someone was making a unified Rom for some of these models months ago. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be any roms for new models . But there is an overcrowding in the market with custom roms for these devices and also with very little difference between these roms. Imagine this like there are a lot of products for one group of people and the rest get no products at all!
So this is my petition. Can just some of you show a bit love for these devices? If enough of you respond to this maybe there will be a positive change! That's all I want . I want everyone to pass this message around. Thanks for the help. And thank you Developers who make custom roms for any device because I know it's a hard job and you are doing this for free. :good:
Peace
P.S: This is my first post. I know I did some things wrong. So PLEASE don't be too critical about this.
Hint, Hint!! Devs make mods for devices they OWN. They aren't in it to support Samsung. They aren't in it to be charitable. They are in it because they enjoy doing what they do and want the "latest and greatest" for themselves. But they ARE NOT going to support old devices they no longer have.
edit: There is also the fact that "custom" ROMs, like RR, Extremely and Ultra, are all just modifications of the STOCK ROM from Samsung. So, if Samsung hasn't produced a new ROM for an older device, then there is nothing to modify. The exception to that are the ROMs based on the LineageOS. But, again, these are based on adaptions from other devices that use the same SoC. So, if the LineageOS devs haven't produced one for the SoCs in older devices, you won't see one for your older Tab A.
Then why do they provide support for their releases. I get the thing you said about how roms a modified. But I dont think they make it just for themselves. If that were the case the would not be any "community" and XDA IS a well-knit community. Developers like @ashyx and @JazzPresso provide and support people with their mods and stuff. So the "want the "latest and greatest" for themselves. But they ARE NOT going to support old devices they no longer have. " part I don't get.

How are they supposed to debug problems when they no longer have a device to use for testing? What's not to get?
But once you have device tree (more or less in stone) it's easy to just keep up to date. (To a degree) but only the latest popular devices get anything. Look at the smt280 ... Absolutely f***ING nothing past root for it. One decent time (decent being used loosely) while the exact same one other than modems are activated (t285) gets quite a bit of love. They are the exact same device! I'm fairly sure the 280 even has the modems! Just deactivated. We have to work with the devs more flexibility do they can do build and have GOOD feedback, timely reports and sure knowledge of how to log. (I stuck at it all) that's how but there are thread after thread of similar devices that none ever gives these devs the info. Dumps, etc that is needed to help us. We inquire on root or rom then they ask for stuff and we disappear. Never to be heard from again. Lots of these devs are so selfless in their endeavor with goose eggs for return

The last Samsung stock ROM for the 280 was 5.1. and there is no Linage version later than that to work from. But if you are so sure there is no difference between the 280 and 285, other than the modem, why don't you try flashing the 285 ROM on the 280? There is an Omni 6.0 ROM for the 285. I've successfully flashed 585 ROMs on a 580.
Anyway, complaining isn't going to change anything. No dev is going to put any effort into an outdated tablet.
If only someone could port treble then the tablet would be sorted. But I doubt that's ever going to happen.

Anytime I tried twrp error was just because of device name or something of that sort. Is there a way of kinda forcing the flash? I've never tried it through other way. Thanks for advice
