[Q] T-Mo Note 4 - SideSync Issues - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My issue is with trying to get my Note 4 to connect to my Asus PC (Win 8.1 64-bit) through SideSync using WiFi. I used to use this app almost daily with my S5, but now with my Note 4 it won't even connect via WiFi. It connects fine via USB, but when trying WiFi it just times out over and over again. I've tried uninstalling the app from both my phone and my PC multiple times, but it still won't work. If anyone has any insight about this, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks...

[Q] Having issues with phone - PC connectivity.

Hi all,
Up until recently, my phone has been working great for transferring data between my computer. I'd connect it via usb, set it to mount to the PC and just move stuff back and forth. I was also able to use droidexplorer without fail as well.
Now, for some reason, droid explorer loses the connection when I start diving into folders, and my regular mounted transfers time out when moving files between my pc and phone but I can browse my phone without issue until I start transferring.
I have tried multiple ROMs and I am seeing the same issue. I have noticed that my usb cable is loose when it connects to my phone. Could this be the cause?
Any insight to this?

I had a problem with my captivate having a lose cable and the USB would not work so this could be the issue

It looks very much like USB is losing connection intermittently.....if you are on Win 7, do you get the "ding-dong" device-connecting sounds repeatedly?
Also, if you updated anything on the Win OS, or added a new USB device, you could end up with this. I know when I added my bluetooth dongle, all my phone connections went to pot.
Also, try different USB ports.

I'm on windows 7 and nothing has changed software wise. No audible notifications either.
Once the connection dies I normally have to replug-in to get my PC to detect the phone. I did notice that one of my front Ports doesn't see my phone anymore. I'll try one of the back ones.

you should try different cable. The one came with my phone gives me same problem now. I bought a new one off amazon for 2 dollar. It working great for data and charging.....

[Q]

hi all,
I don't seem to be able to copy anything from my HTC One via the USB cable..
When I connect the device 'usb debugging' is enabled on the phone, and the device shows up in Windows Explorer. If I browse the folder structure, it will hang.
If I connect the phone, wait until 'usb debugging' is enabled, and disable it, the phone reconnects, and I can browse with more success, and even copy a few files, but anything more than a few and it hangs again.
I've tried doing both of these with the HTC Sync app, and guess what.. it hangs. This is the same on two different Windows 8 PCs, with the original HTC cable.
Is there a known working driver or anything that I should be aware of?
Thanks, as always, in advance.
M
Some people have had issues on Windows 8, but not me. Install the latest "HTC Sync Manager". I think the version is something like 2.0.61.
Yeah I tried that. It managed to connect and start syncing, but then hung. Think I'll try the wife's Windows 7 laptop, maybe it doesn't like Windows 8.

It's fine for me. Stay away from USB3 ports.
Its not usb3 either, as my laptop doesn't have any USB3 ports :/

No problems on my laptop (win 7 x64) via usb 2,
Also working with desktop pc , same os and via usb 3.
Would suspect your problem caused by HTC driver

Seems like a Windows 8 issue. Works flawlessly on my wife's Windows 7 laptop...

[Q] Side Sync with PC via USB

Good evening guys.
I'm trying to connect the Tab with pc via USB with Side Sync, and it doesn't work. The app is the latest version, 3.0 both on pc and tab. I'm running Windows 7 , USB debugging is enabled on Tab I also tried without, all drivers are installed on pc. I even changed the MTP connection of the USB. The computer reads the Tab, SideSync doesn't. I also tried switching off WiFi on Tab, but when I run the app, it automatically reopens and connects wirelessly, I don't know if that is relative.
Any ideas? Anyone else faced the same problem?
Thank you.
i think sidesync only works from phones, so a tablet can only connect to a phone but cant be a client...
but there was an app on the front page recently which promised sidesync like functionality:

Sidesync not finding phone connected via USB !?

I tried searching the forum and found no comments on sidesync so here is my problem:
What I am using:
Sidesync 4.0 installed on a windows 7 x64 PC
Galaxy Note 5 (Verizon) running 5.1.1 (Stock of course :/ )
SideSync 4.0.9.9 App on the phone from samsung store
I was able to successfully connect to my home PC over WiFi network so I know the phone software will do it.
When I try to connect wirelessly at work I can't use WiFi because the desktop PC is wired and the phone is wireless. I understand this and that is not the issue.
I am connected the phone via USB directly to the computers USB port and SideSync is not finding it. I log on to my PC with an unprivileged account so when I launch sidesync it wants admin credentials which I provide. Once launched it will not find the phone.
Anyone have any thoughts?
When I connected mine for the first time this morning it had to install a driver before I plugged in the phone. Did it prompt you to unplug and install the driver? Seems to work great but if I bring up the phone screen on the PC it cuts out my headphone audio that I am listening to through the phone, not sure if it is trying to play through my PC I'll have to play around with it.
Hi, Did you get answer to your query? I am facing the same problem

Note 8 Connecting to Mac

Hi I'm wondering if anybody is able to help.
I have a Note 8 and would like to connect it to my 2017 iMac running High Sierra. When I plug my Note 8 in it automatically launches Android file transfer and file transfer usb mode on the phone but I get "Could not connect to device, Try reconnecting or restarting your device". The phone is in the correct mode and knows it's connected to a Mac as it advises I download AFT or Samsung Switch.
The Note connects to a older 2009 MacBook without a glitch and the only difference being I get a Allow prompt every time it connects to the MacBook and not the iMac. (This seems to be the issue not having an allow prompt)
I have reinstalled AFT and are using the supplied USB C cable.
I previously owned a Nexus 6 which connect to the iMac with out issue.
I have just tried a Galaxy Xcover 3 and same issue so it seems to be a Samsung related problem
Many Thanks
install smart switch for mac samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/smart-switch
Android file transfer is shi* for Samsung ---mac
