No sound in call on pa_maserati-4.6-BETA5-20141022
I just installed Paranoid Android 4.6-BETA5-20141022 (from aospal.com/roms/maserati/ on my Droid 4 via Safe Strap.
I wiped the cache and dalvik partitions with Safe Strap before installing, the install went well and almost everything seems to work except that I have no sound in a phone call unless I turn on the speaker phone or use bluetooth.
It doesn't seem to matter if I call through Verizon or through Google Voice and yes, I have tried turning the volume up while in the call.
Any suggestions on where I should look first?
Thanks

Just install pa_maserati-4.6-BETA5-20141022.zip with pa_gapps-modular-nano-4.4.4-20141025-signed.zip
on stock rom slot, volume is working fine
did you verify md5 checksums with a md5 utility? https://sites.google.com/site/sdshadowscollection/home/hash-checksums
---------- Post added at 05:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ----------
also should be wiping data/ factory reset unless you are installing over a older version of the same rom.
then if you have problems, should factory reset, and reinstall rom and gapps

Ah, it looks like I used the pa_gapps-stock-4.4.4-20141110-signed gapps.
The MD5 checksums match with the ones on the download sites.
I will try re-installing with the newer gapps, will it cause problems to use a slot other than the stock slot?
Any problems with using pa_gapps-modular-nano-4.4.4-20141103-signed.zip?

I did a factory reset (then a factory reinstall using RSD Lite), rooted (with razr_blade), installed safestrap and then installed PA.

ROM slot should not matter, but never know, stock slot more likely to cause problems
Older gapps should be fine
Did you try rebooting to stock rom and checking if volume worked still?

Stock rom has working sound.
I downloaded pa_gapps-modular-pico-4.4.4-20141110-signed.zip, the MD5 checksum matched.
I did a "Factory Reset" on slot 1, then loaded pa_maserati-4.6-BETA5-20141022.zip and pa_gapps-modular-pico-4.4.4-20141110-signed.zip
It loaded and in call volume worked, but it popped up an alert every 30 seconds saying that Google keyboard has stopped. That seemed to have also disabled the physical keyboard.
I tried reloading that (same factory reset, etc as before) and got the same results.
I then downloaded pa_gapps-modular-nano-4.4.4-20141110-signed.zip, the MD5 checksum matched.
I did another factory reset on slot 1, then loaded pa_maserati-4.6-BETA5-20141022.zip and pa_gapps-modular-nano-4.4.4-20141110-signed.zip and so far so good. The keyboard works and so does volume in the calls.

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place, XDA won't let me post to the mahdi thread because I'm new.
I clean flashed the 6/28 Mahdi Rom for my Vs980 and audio didn't work whatsoever. Everything else was fine. Here are a couple of examples of what I mean:
Poweramp play button will be clickable but will return an error and revert to the play button
Youtube will constantly prepare to play (load, attemp to play then continue to load again)
Placing phone calls results in a black screen, then call ended screen 20 seconds later
Receiving phone calls don't show up, rings once (on the phone placing the call not my vs980) then goes to voicemail
Volume up and down doesn't give tones.
Apollo player gives "DSP manager crashed" errors
I tried freezing DSP manager, but that didn't work.
I should also mention I didn't restore using titanium, I tried reflashing 3 or 4 times, and I used the PA 4.4.4 gapps.
I can't find anyone else with this issue, hopefully someone knows what's up.
Thanks for helping if you respond!
Have you tried a different rom? One specifically for our service. I know Mahdi is compatible, but just to see.

Yes I have, I'm currently running a 4.4.2 build of Mahdi that works fine (2.4-g2-20140211). It's just the 6/25 and 6/28 that have the audio issues for me.

Huh, that's weird. You probably can't post in that for trouble shooting, so have you tried a different gapps? Maybe PA is doing something? Banks gapps is an excellent package (just keep the convo going so you can hit 10 posts).

The current build you're on where everything works shouldn't even boot if you're on 24A. As old as that build is(2.4), its still using the JB kernel, requiring the 12b radio. I think you should go to the Malladus thread, download his baseband updater, and the ROM. And flash that. It should straighten out whatever happened. Some sound drivers are tied in with the modem/baseband for some reason on KK. That's what makes me think something with the baseband is messed up. I think I have the Malladus stuff in my Dropbox if you want links. After you get a good GPS lock in maps with Malladus. Then flash the newest build of Mahdi, not the 2.4 build you're running.

First question, are you using TWRP? The wipe instructions below are for TWRP
Here's the ROM https://copy.com/PDixihCzNxqLSBp
Here's the baseband updater https://copy.com/mVY1Qi2cVg3EgXS and the md5 is 941f657383ab5a6ddc8c6f4c0ee4183c make sure t matches before you flash.
Reboot to recovery and flash the baseband updater. Then hit the back button. Select wipe -> advanced wipe. Select dalvik, cache, system, data. Be absolutely sure you don't select internal. Flash Malladus and whatever gapps you prefer.

Yes, actually download maps and ensure it get a GPS lock on you. Then reboot to recovery, go to advanced wipe and select dalvik, cache, system, and data. Then flash the newest mahdi and the newest patch. The ROM is 6-28 and the patch is V6 I believe. Then gapps. You should be good to go then.

You'll get one. No need to worry about not getting one. You just have to do it because sometimes coming from 12B JB source, the sensors won't calibrate correctly on a ROM with true KK source. But I'm not really sure what you could do if you don't to be honest. You should get a lock fairly quick though. Just make sure location is on high accuracy and it will lock

Gapps gets flashed via recovery just like the ROM. If coming from stock or any other ROM, assuming you followed my install instructions in the OP, all user data was removed. You will need to reinstall what apps you need or want. The external sdcard is now accessible at /storage/sdcard1 instead of /storage/external_SD. Full system wipe is only required when changing major versions or when coming from another ROM. Updates can be flashed without performing any wipes.

Hi
I have ATT galaxy note 3 first time I installed a rom I did it over the stock rom slot, no biggie, to make a long story short last rom I had was alliance last version, didn’t work for me, so I decided to install (FireNoteDeodexV20XGrandFinale)
So I booted into Safestrap 3.75(TWRP v2.7.1.0) by simply restarting my device and got that recovery or continue buttons.
So I did a factory wipe but I also did an advance wipe and checked (system).
After that I went to install and selected the above ROM zip and installed it and after I hit continue at the safestrap screen where it also says disabled it always has. It stays blank.
So I booted up to SS again and now whenever I select factory wipe or system wipe or try to mount I get the same message E:Unable to mount ‘/system’ and E:Unable to mount ‘/systemorig’
And now im stuck with no phone and cant install any ROM
Theres a lot of threads about this but please oh please masters bare with me I just need step by step, what should I do and what files do I need to download.
Your help is highly appreciated.
Are you on Jellybean or Kitkat..this should be in Q&A section. But we will try to get you going

If you have a computer. And a sdcard slot on it download and install a kitkat rom of your choice from the att note 3 rom section. Because you most likely are on the newest bootloader you can't flash jb roms. You have to stick to kitkat roms.

You should look in the general section for att note 3 and find the Odin files for kitkat and Odin restore your phone. Then start over rooting and installing a custom rom. Probably your best bet.

Lmao well its good you got it working again. I've been in the boat a few times
Finally upgraded my nokia n900 to a droid 4 and started playing with android.
Droid 4 is great, except all the verizon bloatware. That's the only real reason I've been looking at other roms. I've had a good go, but now back on the stock rom.
Is there a method of removing the bloatware, and a list of which ones remove from the stock rom?
I'd like to get another rom on the go. My issue is the wipe function in safestrap didn't seem to do a full wipe. When I go to install a new rom, it seems to show some of the data is already used. Is there a way to wipe literally everything on the phone? I tried installing cm11 to the stock rom and it loaded the droid 4 background and cm11 shortcuts for example.
Cheers

Cheers, read a good few of those already, but missed that thread with them all organised.
I take it we won't be getting any updates on this phone any time soon? So can I uninstall all the things on that list? I had a look and some didn't have an uninstall button, is there another method?
Hoe do you do a full format? Safe strap doesn't seem to do this.

Yes, you can disable (if that is an option), remove or rename (rename is safer, like adding .bak) using a root browser/explorer/manager, safest use Titanium backup pro to freeze the app or backup and delete (not as safe).
also can leave stock rom, and install a deboated stock rom like the ones posted under Jellybean Roms in my Index

what do you consider full format?
You can reflash firmware with RSD Lite or Droid 4 utility
You can you can wipe system, user data, sd cards in safestrap.
Safestrap doesn't seem to format completely, I get an error on the sdcard, not external, and there are usually files left over. IE after a full format, it says 968mb free of 999, numbers are just an example.
RSD lite only seemed to install the stock rom and wouldn't install any others?
Cheers for the help.

Correct, RSD lite is only for Official Motorola Firmware
Possibly a silly question, but if its a 16gb phone, why does it come up as 8gb when plugged into a computer?
So if I format on the PC, will it still boot into safe strap on restart or will I need to rsd lite it?
I'm trying to have safestrap, a stock rom for the rare times I'll use the dock, and a light rom for daily use. Unless there is a better way around it?
CM11 seems the happiest, is there a summary for the roms? Or any other suggestions?
Cheers

safestrap stores roms on internal sd card, so if you format internal sd card, all rom slots will be wiped. but safestrap it self is not on the sd card it is installed elsewhere.

Yes, see PA GApps: PICO MODULAR PACKAGE and [GAPPS][2014-12-15] Google Apps Minimal Edition for Android 4.4.x
You need to install a Gapps file that is compatible with the Roms android version, or there maybe problems.

also Roms that do not include playstore, also do not include the support files for play store, like google framework....
I usually suggest installing one of the PA GApp versions like Mini or Micro.

Hi Mentor. This is probably a stupid question, sorry, as I've only had my Droid 4 a few days...
I've tried CM11, but the battery life is not good enough, so I'm going to have to use some kind of modified stock ROM.
What is the main difference between using the above, and installing your ROM? And which would likely give the best battery life?
Thanks

In my stock rom there are some gapps that i left inside because a lot of user use them but personally i do not use any gapps and for this i create this patch that will completely delete every gapps in the rom.
This patch can be installed from who uses original stock rom or my stok rom.
Hi,
to seperate the discussion happened in the cm12 thread I open this new thread.
I am not the developer of this rom and you have to try i ON YOUR OWN RISK!
First you need an unlocked JBBL Bootloader.
If you have not unlocked it yet look for tutorials here or use the sunshine app.
If you are on KKBL you have first to downgrade your Bootloader. I have used this howto:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2789743
worked fine for me! BUT AGAIN: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU ARE DAMAGE YOUR DEVICE.
You have first to flash a TWRP Version for the XT907:
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=403669&st=18740#entry45788372
And now the rom:

And you need some gApps.
I use opengapps! works great!
YOU HAVE TO FLASH BOTH ON ONE TIME! FIRST IN QUE IS THE ROM AND THEN THE GAPPS!
On the first boot the optimization of the apps is in russian language. In the first configuration window you can choose your language!
The rom works really fine for me with one exception: I am in Germany and have to use hdspa+ with this device. I did not get hdspa+ working yet. maybe I need another modem file?
Other users have problems with bluetooth... for me bluetooth works fine!
NFC should not working... I have not tried!

Does it work on the xt925 as well?
I don't know, maybe I find some time at the weekend to try out! But I can't try the radio on my xt925, because the Sim Slot is damaged
Sadly this doesn't works on an MB886 (Atrix HD). I know, totally different device, but just wanted to tell.

Tried it again on a MB886 (Atrix HD) without luck. I think it's not unified or there is something wrong. I'm already using TWRP 3 but it always stays on "Patching system image unconditionally". Any ideas?
I think that twrp 3 is only for xt907, i have xt926 and using twrp 2800 jb to install this rom is working well and i try to instal with twrp 3 i have error 7 so i still using twrp 2800 jb for this rom.
Nprevette has allready build blissmm for jb bootloader (alpha) and I try to install it on xt926 and it won't boot to home screen using twrp 2800 and i try it too with twrp 3 and i have error 7 maybe the recovery is not compatible for blissmm..
Is anyone here try blissmm jb rom?
I don't know the error I got when I tried First to install through a xt926 Recovery... Habe you installed the xt907 twrp Version?
Also die someone come from Verizon Rom?
You have First Format internal data through Recovery
Else you got an error
Error7 mean you try to install wrong firmware, so, to install wrong firmware, you should install wrong recavery flash twrp 3.0.2 for xt907, run it, wipe all, except external card, twice and then try to install firmware, and keep patiance, its stuck on patching system for along time. Also, old safestrap recovery works well, you can try it
With the Recovery from 4pda it is not possible to install blissmm...
The download Server from Bliss was down yesterday evening... I couldn't Download the Recovery from there.
I allready try to install bliss6 with twrp 3 full wipe and format internal storage but still have "error 7 this rom is for msm8960 not for scorpion mini"
Got the same error! Also with the twrp from Bliss
The twrp Version from Bliss shows up the Micro SD two times... Attention on wiping!

as you can see, it's not xt 907 port, it's for xt925, use the same twrp 3.0.2 recovery
NFC is working now, HSPA+ should work too
Can i install it to xt926?
