[SPRINT] Custom ROMs that work without sprint.zip data fix - Nexus 5 General

Sprint Nexus 5 users, the Lollipop update gives us a ridiculous number of custom ROMs to choose from.
This thread is meant to keep a list of custom ROMs that work without having to apply the sprint.zip fix.
If you use Sprint, please share your Lollipop ROMs that have working data. It will save users some time and mild annoyances.
(I am a bit of a control freak and hate having anything crash on my phone, and sprint.zip breaks PRL and update Profile, but hey we get working LTE, easy trade)
Old list from http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/fix-sprint-data-to-custom-roms-t2541924
CM11 based Roms
Cataclysm
Slimkat
Nitrous
Kangakat
Beergang
Lollipop ROMs:
Pure White
XtraSmooth

Pure white works flawlessly

xtrasmooth works without a hitch after prl/profile update

Cataclysm works on lollipop

Optipop works fine. But options to update PRL and Profile are missing.

Not sure if this fix would help me out or if there is another solution for this. I have voice and text but no data. I'm on Sprint. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right now I'm running Cataclysm. I've had this issue with Stock and Xtreme also.

Cataclysm already has sprint APN. I had a similar problem and cleaning the sim card worked for me.
I would try the following:
1. I would try updating prl then profile in carrier settings.
If that doesn't work, power down and remove the sim card, wipe it down real well with a cotton cloth, reinsert, power on, and update prl and profile.
2. If that doesn't work, reinstall any stock based rom after a clean wipe, go through the initial setup , update prl, profile.
3. If all fails, get a new sim card.

Thanks for trying to help but this is what's confusing me. I've tried all that you just suggested and this is the second new sim card I've tried.

Sorry, that sucks.
Perhaps try a completely fresh start with a factory image, and go through the initial setup in a different location (different cell tower).

Anyone have a suggestion for newer roms with working data, besides stock based.

Hmp, stick with a rom that works THAT YOU LIKE, not by what I tell you. But did you try these rom's?
- CM v7.0.2?
- GingerSense?
- AOSP 0.9.9.2 Froyo?
- CM6.1-RC2?
- NFX Stock Rom?
- My Sense Roms?
Try all of those and for whichever the phone calls work, take note of that. And then also I'd like for you choose what you like the best. Also did you try the update prl/pri on a sense rom? Try doing it on the rom you're on now
And glad to see it worked for ya bud

FYI the functionality of the dialer is hard-coded into the phone, not each ROM, so if it works at all, it works. Sometimes phone and data issues can be solved by updating PRL and profile as suggested, but it sounds like your issue may have been simply your carrier at the time. If a phone can call out, it can call in, and vice versa. It may have something to do with the fact that you are flashing Sprint ROMs for a Chinese carrier, but who knows. There are a few members in these forums that are on your same chinese carrier and are running aospCMod without issue, one member in particular is called "oldghost", maybe you should PM him and see if he has had any issues, and what ROM best suits the needs of the Chinese version of the heroC. Good luck.

Yes oldghost uses a Chinese carrier and I don't think he had any issues at all. But first try updating the prl/pri
Interesting. I just realized I'm seeing similar since (I think) flashing 4/29 aosp 2.3.3. Thought I had just messed up on a setting or something. Incoming calls are going straight to voicemail. I see them almost immediately in the call log on the phone, but no ring or any other indication. The only other record of the call would be the voicemail notification after a bit.
Now, my assumption here is that I messed up on my last flash, so I'll go back and do a redo, including going back to a sense rom just in case.
I was coming from 4/21 aosp 2.3.3. Before the 4/21, I did get rid of firerats, installed fresh, updated prl (now at 60678) and profile, though I think that's been current for me for a while.
I then installed 4/21 from scratch (fr 110/4).
Radio has been current.
4/29, I just wiped caches and flashed over.
Like I said, I'm sure I just messed up at one of these points. I don't know for sure when I stopped receiving calls. I don't get a lot of them, so it took me a while for the loneliness to kick in. It IS possible that I messed up on the 4/21 even.

Try troubleshooting the problem by doing the following things one at a time to see if they work:
- Try a different radio that works for the SPRINT HERO CDMA ONLY (else you will brick your phone, if you need help finding radios let me know)
- Try without firerat's
- Try wiping everything using the latest official clockwork mod 3.0 after backing up everything
- Try s0be's kernel
- Try the official CM7 v7.0.2
i can come up with more options for you to try one by one but that should last you for about an hour or so
after doing all those let me know what happens
Actually, got this working again.
flashed aosp 2.3.3 4/29 clean, removed firerats, etc (since my next step would have been to put on a sense rom).
clean install seemed to fix the problem. Able to receive calls.
then for fun... did the full factory reset and wipe wipe wipe again, installed this time WITH firerats (100 20), bumped the cache size for the hell of it.
That worked as well. Calls being received. I think something just got hosed, or my original 4/29 install, which was just a cache wipe and flash over, didn't go so well.
Still figure it was user error on my part somewhere along the line, but all is well for me now.

SIM Doesn't work on Jelly Bean

So I have my dad's phone. Whenever I install Jelly bean, the phone stops making calls. There's celular internet, text messages AND even receive calls. But whenever he calls someone, it hangs-up right away.
THEN, we change the SIM to my SIM. And everything works perfectly.
So to sum it up:
ICS + dad's SIM: Everything is perfect.
JB + dad's SIM: Everything works except making calls.
ICS + my SIM / JB + My SIM: Everything works perfectly.
What could be the cause for this problem?

Are you talking about the default firmware from samsung, or a custom rom?
If the update came over the air (OTA), you might just want to get back to factory settings.
There might be something conflicting with the phone app (old configuration files of some sort, which it sounds like).
If youre using a custom rom of some sort, try clearing everything in recovery.
Cheers.

Im talking about stock ICS.
On stock ICS or even CM 9 which is ICS also, everything works perfect.
If I install stock JB, or CM 10(or 10.1/.2/11) I wouldn't be able to make calls.

Have you tried clearing everything <data+cache+dalvik> before flashing any other rom?
On stock try going back to factory settings.
Im unable to guess why you can recieve calls but not make 'm.
You might want to try flashing a newer kernel, but that shoulnd be needed as all roms come with their own kernel.
- Go into recovery; clear everything, clear dalvik cache, flash <recent> rom, try again.
Cheers.

I can receive calls. I can't MAKE ones.
And I've done all of the above.
Guess there's something wrong with my SIM that is blocking me from making calls because I have tried 3 other SIM cards from the same and different networks and they all work fine.
I'll just have mine changed.

Need help getting my phone stable

I can only use Sense roms ATM, and it's killing me. I have no service if I boot anything other than a modified stock ROM.
Could someone point me to all the things I need to flash to have the latest and greatest with everything working? I have yet to find a really good source for this type of info, most important things are buried in various threads it seems.
I've got rumrunner hboot 1.55.5555
Radio is 1.00.20.1108 (I flashed the modified firmware from O.M.J.'s Bad Boyz thread.)
TWRP 2.6.3.4
I did a full wipe, including internal storage, and flashed the new ViperOne update.
Booted up, and no service. So I flashed the only other thing on my USB drive, the old 4.2 Nocturnal GE. Still no service.
Went to SuperOneK, no service. So I tried ##72786#, reset, and after a few minutes my service is back.
Now I have to use stock Sense based ROMS to get service. I really don't want to RUU, is there any other way to fix this mess?
I also have instability in TWRP that other's haven't reported. Settings like screen timeout don't stick when I reboot. OTG is patchy, but that could be my cable (I'll find that out on Friday).
I have the same issue on aosp roms. But when I go back to bb it is fine.

Try flashing ViperOne and go to Venom Tweaks > Misc > Phone Info and make sure "Set preferred network type:" is set to either CDMA auto (PRL) or CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto
If that doesn't work I would try redownloading and reflashing radios/firmware

No Signal Issue on Custom ROMs

I have an unlocked bootloader and rooted Nexus 6. I usually run custom ROMs but I have had some issues when I install them for about the past week or so. I use Straight Talk CDMA which uses the Verizon towers. If I flash an official firmware such as LMY47I (5.1) or LMY47Z (5.1.1) then I have no issues with LTE connecting from the very beginning of the setup screen. Everything works fine including voice, data, and texting. When I install a custom ROM the signal will not connect and there is an exclamation point (!) next to the signal icon. I did have to exchange my phone and Motorola sent me a new one but I was able to use custom ROMs without issues on this phone until sometime earlier this week.
I know that people have been having some issues recently with connection problems and there are various threads on them. I have tried several of these workarounds but it just seems odd that I never had these issues before.
Any help or suggestions would be great. Don't mind running stock firmware but would prefer to be able to use custom ROMs again.
Thanks in advance.

You can even flash an older radio if need be.
So I tried installing two different custom ROMs and both times I got the same signal icon with an (!) next to it. There is no working connection. I tried flashing the radio from the Android M preview and also installed the radio from LMY47D (Verizon 5.1.0) since I am on Straight Talk CDMA. Neither one seemed to help. After flashing these radios I went back to restoring a TWRP backup based on just a stock firmware. From what I understand the radio is separate from any particular ROM you flash and thus independent of each other. I am able to get an LTE signal when I revert back to the backup.
So now I'm stumped. It doesn't seem to be based on the radio. None of the custom ROMs that I was able to use less than a week ago are able to find an LTE signal after a clean install. I can only seem to use official firmware versions.
Any other possible ideas? Could the phone be defective? It was an RMA replacement and I think it was new and not refurbished.
Thanks in advance.

Really sounds like an APN issue. I have flashed a few ROMs and have had that problem. Most recently Exodus ROM. I changed the APN and all is well.

Let me take a look at the APN settings on the stock firmware and then see how they compare when I use a custom ROM. In the past, I never had to set the APN settings as I thought they were set automatically on CDMA sim cards. I'll take a look.
Thanks.

Even if there's another APN with the same name as the one set by default, try switching to the other. That's what worked for me on Exodus.

All calls hang up during conference or call waiting - Verizon

I, for the life of me, cannot solve this issue. No matter the 8.x ROM I use (and I have used 5 at this point) if I receive a call during another call and try to take it (call waiting) both connections are immediately hung up.
Similarly if I try to merge calls and create a conference call, all calls are hung up.
I have tried: stock GAPPs vs nano GAPPs. AOSP dialer vs Google dialer from the store. I've tried virtually every phone app setting and default configuration and whatnot and it just won't work!
I always flash ROMs the same way - wipe eveyrthing except internal, flash ROM, flash GAPPs, and then no restore from backup - I download all my apps individually. Everything else runs perfectly.
Anyone else on Verizon having this issue? Or anyone on Verizon NOT having this issue?
Also... any ideas on how to fix it?
